While they have very strict rules about posting in search of a puppy, they do allow you post questions about a specific breeder. The Scam: Payment So how does a scammer actually part you from your money? With the deposit. Deposits are common practice in the puppy world. You put down a deposit to reserve that pup. Two of the primary tools scammers use for scamming are Venmo and Cashapp. These are money apps that allow you to send money to someone else quickly and easily. Unfortunately, both of these apps are renowned for viewing these transactions as strictly between the payer and the payee, and take the position that they are just the vehicle for the transaction. If you handed it over to a scammer, they will not help you get it back. Solution 1: Pay In Person This one is particularly straightforward. Go to their home, meet the puppies, the breeders, and if you like what you see, hand them over the cash. In my experience, you can certainly find scammers on all three sites, but Hoobly is the most prominent. Because the other sites charge money to list puppies. Not every puppy breeder on hoobly is a scam, but every scammer is on hoobly. And best of all, the price is soooo much better than many of the other listings! In reality, that price should be your first red flag. It is entirely possible to find puppies at a below market average price. So we priced him low to help him find his new family a little more quickly. So, good deals exist out there. BUT if you find someone selling a litter of young puppies well below what everyone else is selling them for, be suspicious. From genetic testing the parents to feeding the pups, all of those costs add up quick. So if someone is drastically underpriced, there is a reason. Ask for staged photos. Schedule a video chat or in person meeting. A breeder will be thrilled to set an appointment, a scammer will go running for the hills. Breeder Verification through google. The key is to be patient and give those ears time to develop on their own before stepping in. Those ears should perk back up after teething is over. You will need the following supplies: Some type of surgical tape NOT duct tape or any super-adhesive tape. Foam roller inserts or foam pipe insulation cut to size. Two plain popsicle sticks or unsharpened pencils. Wrap the surgical tape around the outside of the ear to hold the insert in place. Be prepared for your puppy to find a way to paw off this strange contraption several times before they finally get used to it and forget about it. You want to leave this in place for a week and then remove it to check the ear position. You may notice the ears start to stand a little straighter week by week. But if you see them flop over again, you need to re-tape them until they are strong enough to stand up on their own. Ear gluing Another option you can try is puppy ear gluing. This is actually not nearly as awful as it sounds and is far easier to do than the ear taping method. Another perk of puppy ear gluing over taping is that you are not going to cut off any air circulation to the inner ear canal. The key is to pick some kind of fabric glue do NOT use super glue or super-bonding glue that may not come off. What you need to do for this method is to add a dab of glue to the outside of the inner ear flap about two-thirds of the way down from the ear tip point. Silver Goldendoodles A lighter version of blue or gray Goldies, silvers are also born a much darker color and just keep on fading. You might see signs that a pup will be silver from somewhere around six to ten weeks, where you can start to spot lighter roots. You will likely also find white or silver hairs between their toes. The shift from black to silver is probably the most dramatic of any of the Doodle coat changes. Your pup will look like an entirely different dog when it is done. For this reason silvers are often mistaken for grays early on in life. Silver Beige Goldendoodles Unlike regular silvers, silver beige Goldendoodles are born dark brown. However, just like regular silvers, they lighten as they age. The lighter the final color, the earlier the puppy will start clearing — anywhere between six to twelve weeks. Silver beiges can sometimes be mistaken for sables as they start to fade. The combination of colors in their coat gives this effect. Tan Goldendoodles Tan Goldies get their coloring from their Retriever parent. Just as with apricot and cream dogs, tan occurs because of a dilution in the red pigment pheomelanin. In the recent past, new commercially available tests have been developed that allow us to genetically test our parent dogs for furnishing genes and other coat genes as well, such as curl so we can better predict coat type in puppies. This is much, much more accurate and dependable than the old Mendelian filial F1, F1b, etc. The gene responsible for furnishings is dominant; so by testing the parent dogs DNA, it can be determined if a breed pair will produce puppies that all have furnishings, or if there will be some puppies with an incorrect or Golden Retriever like coat. Dogs with one copy of the furnishings gene Ff or F IC are lower shedding than dogs without furnishings. Dogs with two copies of furnishing genes FF are typically non-shedding.
