Typically their hair is trimmed to the same length throughout the entire body. But what differs from other grooms is the lack of a shaved face or feet. Many owners make modifications based on personal preference. And most prefer a cute, round head more akin to a doodle. This is another trim that wears many names — The Teddy trim, Lab trim, Lagotto trim, Retriever trim, etc… This style is as versatile as the dog that wears it. This pigment is called phaeomelanin. It controls the red spectrum of coat colors. It is yellow or gold. Phaeomelanin is running the show in determining whether a Labradoodle will grow up to have a cream coat. But there are lots of other genes working behind the scenes to influence how creamy that coat will look. Phaeomelanin is a form of pigment, or melanin. Melanocytes have the job of adding phaeomelanin to each hair as it grows out. Sometimes they may add in a bit more color pigment at first and slack off later. This is why some but not all cream Labradoodle dogs will grow up to have adult coats that are darker at the hair tips than they are at the hair roots. This Causes the Variations This is one way — but not the only way — that a cream Labradoodle can grow up to have a darker cream or a lighter cream coat. These are the hair follicle cells responsible for giving this Labradoodle their lovely coat color. But what is telling each melanocyte how much of which pigment to add to each developing coat hair? A collection of genes is called a genotype. How those genes appear or show up is called their phenotype. So a cream Labradoodle has the genes for a cream coat phenotype. When it comes to coat color, eumelanin black is dominant and phaeomelanin red is recessive. When a gene is dominant, a puppy only needs to get that gene from one parent dog to have it show up express. But when a gene is recessive, the puppy needs to get that gene from both parent dogs to express it. Now you are probably starting to see why breeders can spend a lifetime studying the genome just for their own breeding dogs. This is especially the case when you consider that a Labradoodle is a breed that is still rather early in their evolution. F1, F2 and Beyond! In early stage F1, F1b breeding programs, the breeder may be working with the coat color genotypes of two completely different purebred dog breeds. This gets more complicated still when you consider that both parent dogs must contribute the cream coat genotype in order for a puppy to inherit the cream coat. In other words, only two true cream Labradoodle parent dogs will be able to breed cream Labradoodle puppies. Eumelanin is responsible for black and the various shades in that color spectrum. Nose color: Depending on the breed association you consult with, a true cream Labradoodle will have either a black, brown, or rose pinkish nose. Eye color: Cream Labradoodles will usually have dark brown eyes. Skin color: Cream spectrum Labradoodles will have black eye rims and lips. Change your plans if needed, to help him relax and not run around so much in that time. Giving your pup ample time to recuperate will help him recover fully and prevent further injuries. We all know that compounded injuries are typically more severe and could cause serious harm. You know, that spot in the park that has thorns or sharp twigs. Or maybe they were unlucky and found that one piece of glass on the pavement. All these could cause cuts and bruises on their tiny paws, making them limp. After all, these could be pretty painful injuries. Another related cause is broken toenails. Toenails could even break and split into the nerve endings, which is excruciating. All of these are somewhat painful, or, at the very least, uncomfortable. So, if you see your pup limping, check his trotters for scabs, bruises, or bleeding. Also, check for splinters, thorns, or other foreign objects stuck in between the cushions. They know their stuff and will pick up any related issues. Behavioral Changes If something serious is wrong, you might notice that your beloved Frenchie is suddenly lethargic, instead of his boisterous self. We are located in the central Florida area, minutes away from Orlando and very accessible via all of the major central Florida highways. All of our litters are hand raised in our home, never in a kennel. Our puppies are born in our master bedroom or bathroom, where they remain until they are three and a half to four weeks old. During this early period, we begin using puppy culture techniques in order to help raise very confident, well balanced puppies. At just over three weeks, we introduce a designated potty area, which they often begin finding within a couple of days, we also introduce solid foods at this same time initially goats milk, then a few days later we begin adding raw food. Later they are moved into our main living area, where they are exposed many new sounds, sights, textures and experiences in preparation for joining your family. The majority of our parent dogs share a home with one of our incredible guardian families. Virtually all of our guardians have come to us by way of referral from our existing guardian families - we'd like to think that is indicative of a very positive relationship. By implementing our guardian family team, our mom and dad dogs often live as the single pampered pet of their household. This is consistent in maintaining great family dogs - likely one of the reasons that you are considering an Australian labradoodle puppy. Our guardians are very hands on with the shaping of your future puppy, sometimes even assisting during the birthing process and later with weekly visits to their home - this is good for our momma dogs, their families and of course our puppies. Our visits allow our pups weekly car rides from week one, as well as early handling and socialization in a very safe and controlled environment. Our parent dogs are rigorously health tested prior to being considered for breeding and assessed for their temperament. We have been working with most of our lines for over fourteen years and have continued to refine them. When we give consideration to using outside lines, we are very attentive to the same qualities we seek in our parent dogs. While the majority of our litters are medium in size, we do occasionally offer mini doodles as well as standards.
