Week 5 WEEK 5 A five week old puppy continues to learn from and socialize with their mother and litter mates. During this time, puppies learn more bite inhibition through play. Proper socialization can prevent your puppy from becoming timid. Week 8 WEEK 8 When puppies are 8 weeks old, most are independent, fully weaned, and usually ready for their new homes.
