Mini Goldendoodles could be more adept at apartment-living or city life considering their smaller size, especially if owners have limited space in a high rise or townhome. Willow is about 25lbs and is a pretty average size. We know a few Mini Goldendoodles that are in the low 30s and I believe they can go up to 35lbs. But it really depend on the dog. They require a lot of grooming to avoid mats. I brush my dog regularly and send him to the groomer every 6 weeks max to avoid him to be shaved. These small dogs are portable and versatile, so they can easily fit in a dedicated dog carrier or backpack, a doggie carseat and in a travel crate. Modern films have long showcased the caring, loving and loyal nature of the Golden Retriever. The Mini Goldendoodle may also inherit some of these traits, although their small size requires parents to educate their children on how to respectfully interact and play with these dogs. They are extremely family-friendly dogs. They love humans and pets alike. Many Mini Goldendoodle owners will take their dog to a groomer every few months for a trim — too. Mini Goldendoodles are a hypoallergenic breed. I am allergic to dogs as are my parents and none of us have any reaction to Willow. We have Willow groomed every 5 weeks. We walk him and get him to the park as much as possible or he is a complete terror at night. Separation anxiety Separation anxiety can affect any dog irrespective of breed or mix. With their dog at home alone, their separation anxiety rises to the surface in a variety of possible ways. They may bark, howl or whine, they could resort to destructive behaviours such as chewing and digging, or in some extreme cases, do their business inside the home. Mini Goldendoodles are prone to separation anxiety, although every dog is different. I would say it depend on the dog. Barking Poodles are sometimes dubbed a loud breed, with the tendency to bark at anything. This is a trait that a Mini Goldendoodle could potentially inherit. This could result in your dog sounding the alarm if they notice a squirrel outside, a neighbour arriving at their home, the mailman coming to your door or any unfamiliar noise. If your Mini Goldendoodle does excessively bark, you could work on it with a dog behaviorist. While this is a trait that some Mini Goldendoodle owners encountered, not all members of the cross breed will have this trait. Appearing in the mids, the mini goldendoodle is the result of breeding a miniature poodle and a golden retriever. Designed to take on the smarts of the poodle and the gentle disposition of the golden retriever, these dogs are intelligent and active, with a mild temperament. Poodles originated in Germany and were historically used for hunting and retrieval. They gained popularity among the French, where they were refined into three additional sizes — standard, miniature and toy. While these dogs became associated with high society, they were also known as affectionate and easy to train. As working dogs and loyal companions, golden retrievers have since become one of the most popular purebred dogs in America. Fast forward to present day, and the mini goldendoodle — having inherited traits from both breeds — is a gentle, loving canine that is intelligent and easy to train. Due to the inheritance of the long-haired golden retriever and the curly poodle, these dogs are a ball of fluff as puppies. Not only are they adorable, but they also have a teddy-bear appearance that makes them irresistible to would-be pet parents. Mini goldendoodles can vary in size depending on which breed characteristics they take on. However, mini goldendoodles are generally well proportioned with large, expressive eyes, a rounded head, and a short to medium-sized muzzle. They also have floppy ears and a long, fluffy, or feathered tail like the golden retriever. What Size Is a Mini Goldendoodle? As a hybrid dog, mini goldendoodles range in size and weight. Generally, though, MGs can weigh anywhere from 15 to 35 pounds and reach a height of between 13 to 30 inches. The size of a mini goldendoodle can also depend on the height and weight of its parents. The coat of a mini goldendoodle changes as it ages. As a puppy, the coat is fluffy, maturing into wavy, flat, or curly fur. However, if your goldendoodle takes on more characteristics of the golden retriever, its fur can also be straight, too. They also come in colors ranging from golden to red to dark brown. Mini goldendoodles are known for their gentle and mild-tempered natures. These dogs are eager to please and are loyal, sociable, and incredibly playful. Both poodles and golden retrievers are also known for their smarts, so MGs take on this trait, making them easy to train. Are Mini Goldendoodles Affectionate? Mini goldendoodles are affectionate animals. These dogs love a good cuddle, as well as spending plenty of time with their family. Like most dogs, MGs also show affectionate states through facial or body language and through their wagging tails. However, due to their excitability, these dogs may not stay long on your lap! Mini goldendoodles are a fantastic family pet. Not only are they great around kids, but they are also loving and affectionate towards their family. Mini goldendoodles also love to play, which is great for rambunctious children! However, like most dogs, early socialization and obedience training are important for ensuring they behave appropriately around kids. Are Mini Goldendoodles Aggressive? These dogs also get along well with kids and other animals. While some people mistakenly think mini goldendoodles are aggressive when they nip or chew during their teething stage, this is actually part of their normal development. If this occurs, positive reinforcement and reward-based training can remedy these behaviors. Do Mini Goldendoodles Bark a Lot? They may bark at the occasional stranger or if they want your attention, but generally, these dogs are not known for their vocality. Are Mini Goldendoodles Intelligent? Mini goldendoodles are bred from two very intelligent breeds — poodles and golden retrievers. Therefore, this hybrid breed takes on the smarts of both genetic counterparts. The intelligence of mini goldendoodles make them fun to be around; however, beware that they can get into mischief due to their smarts! Keeping their minds stimulated with treat puzzles can be good ways to curb this behavior. Are Mini Goldendoodles Easy to Train? Because mini goldendoodles are intelligent and eager to please, they are also easy to train. The only thing to be mindful of is that their playful energy can create short attention spans; therefore, keep training sessions short rather than long and drawn out. Like most dogs, a combination of positive reinforcement and reward-based training will go a long way. Are Mini Goldendoodles Energetic? Mini goldendoodles have plenty of energy! Regular walks each day mixed with playtime should be enough to drain their energy. One way to think about this breed is that they enjoy short bursts of energy rather than long marathon sessions. Due to their smaller size, mini goldendoodles make great apartment dogs. These dogs also shed very little and are fairly quiet when it comes to barking. Combined with their even temperaments, these dogs are good apartment dwellers. Are Mini Goldendoodles Good Watchdogs? These dogs are more likely to befriend an intruder than to attack one! Mini goldendoodles make fantastic therapy dogs because they are soft, affectionate, and intelligent. However, they are only suited to work as therapy or emotional service animals because they are on the smaller side. Individuals looking for service dogs or therapy dogs who require stronger, sturdier animals for physical support or guidance, for instance, may want a bigger breed like a large standard goldendoodle. How to Care for a Mini Goldendoodle? Mini goldendoodles are fairly easy to care for. When it comes to exercise, make sure they get at least 20 to 30 minutes each day. Therefore, long hours alone or stuck in a kennel are not good for this breed as they can develop separation anxiety. The best way to care for a mini goldendoodle is to keep them active and include them in family activities. While mini goldendoodles only shed lightly and sometimes not at all , there is some grooming required to keep their coat healthy. As an adult, mini goldendoodles should be brushed about once a week, but this also depends on how often you get their hair trimmed. In terms of bathing, these dogs only need the occasional bath. You should also trim their nails once or twice per month unless your dog is active and wearing them down naturally. Lastly, because mini goldendoodles have floppy ears, check these regularly for redness, discharge, or odors, which could be a sign of infection. Do Mini Goldendoodles Shed? Poodle breeds hardly shed, but golden retrievers do, so the shed level of your mini goldendoodle will depend on which genetic traits they take on. Generally, though, your MG will be a low to non-shedder. What Should a Mini Goldendoodle Eat? Like all dogs, mini goldendoodles require a high-nutrient diet that has a good balance of protein, fats, and carbohydrates. This could include a mix of high-quality kibble, dehydrated dog food, or fresh food. Aim for around 2 cups of food per day; this may need adjusting depending on the size and activity level of your dog. Mini goldendoodles are prone to a number of genetic diseases outlined below which come from the poodle and the golden retriever side. However, not all MGs will develop these conditions, and some are treatable with medication, supplements, and diet. Frequent visits to your vet and giving your dog joint supplements like glucosamine and omega-3 oils can prevent future pain. Patella luxation: abnormal formations of the joints, also resulting in pain when walking. Progressive retinal atrophy: golden retrievers are prone to PRA, which involves a gradual deterioration of the retina in the eye, which can cause night blindness and loss of daytime vision. Since this is an inheritable condition, the best prevention is to visit your vet regularly. See your vet for more info. Mini goldendoodles live for around 10 to 15 years. These dogs are playful and eager to please, making it easy for inexperienced pet parents to train and live with them. So many families were trying to avoid shedding coats and the Goldendoodle was proving to fill that need. We started this venture with a mini Poodle instead of a toy Poodle as we felt that was the best step in downsizing to achieve the mini Goldendoodle dog breed. Our goal was to create adult Goldendoodles with the average weight of about 35 lb. Our first litter arrived on January 11, providing us with 5 males and 5 females, all with wavy coats. This litter was an F1 litter , but was the beginning of the many future generations of Goldendoodles and the foundation for the multigen Goldendoodle. Fox Creek Farm retained two of the females in this litter for future development of the mini Goldendoodle breed. Pebbles whelped the first litter of F1B mini Goldendoodles in .We still have dogs in our breeding program that trace all the way back to Pebbles as documented in the GANA database. You can view photos of the entire litter below and some feedback provided by each family who raised one of these little teddy bears. Fox Creek Farm followed each and every puppy throughout its life to learn about temperaments, health, trainability, coat care, and longevity. We made some lifelong friends with these families who had trusted us to provide them with a puppy unlike any other breed they had met before. Not only were the reports always positive, just about every family has since come back for one or more mini Goldendoodles from Fox Creek Farm. The first of this litter to pass of old age lived to be .The last of the litter to pass was just a month shy of 17 years. On average, the mini Goldendoodles in this litter lived to be 15 years of age. We found this to be in part due to the hybrid vigor and in part due to the health testing certifications performed on the parents. This proves the importance of health testing dogs before they are bred. Listen to me, do I sound like a proud Mama or not? Amy, Triscuit has been a total joy in our lives. Then along came Triscuit. Casey A few words about Casey: He is very lovable and compassionate. He enjoys hiking though all seasons and is a great trailblazer leading the pack with his nose to the ground, stopping at any fork in the trail to be told which direction to continue in. Many times he will fall asleep with it under his paw. Casey has some funny and entertaining quirks that make me laugh out loud. He loves digging in the sand at beaches and on every July 4th he hides in the bathtub during the fireworks as loud noises scare him. Pebbles I have lots of dogs being a breeder. She produced 3 litters before retiring from breeding. She is my constant companion and seems to read my mind. All the other dogs have learned that when Pebbles says it is time for a bath, they have to drop whatever they are doing and let her clean their eyes and ears. Lucy Lucy produced many wonderful litters for Fox Creek Farm. She is the mother of Chester, one of Fox Creek Farms fabulous studs. She is living out her retirement with Debra Wachter. Lucy outlived all her brothers and sisters. She joined them all for a romp in the skies in early December, just a month shy of 17 years. Sign Up for our Newsletter First Name. Adoption Process Mini Goldendoodle Goldendoodles are mixes between Golden Retrievers and Poodles that are very affectionate, playful, and all around a very friendly dog. They are known to be a great breed for novice owners, but loved by experienced pet owners as well, as they are fairly easy to groom and get along well with children and other dogs. Highly intelligent, they are usually easy to train and have a high energy level that requires regular exercise. They are typically larger dogs that do not adapt well to apartment style living but would instead prefer to have a larger area to play, indoors or outdoors. This breed does not shed much which can make them great dogs for owners with allergies, but this requires them to be groomed regularly. Goldendoodles have a high sensitivity level but are generally friendly around strangers. They are gentle dogs that are highly social and not great as guard dogs or watch dogs but have done well in roles such as therapy dogs or other service dogs. These dogs do best when they are around the people they love and should not be kept outside or in an outdoor kennel; they will experience separation anxiety when kept away from their owners for long periods of time. When left for a while, they do best to be kept in a kennel temporarily, and their destructive behaviors can be avoided by providing them with toys to chew on and by having a radio playing in the background. Miniature Goldendoodles are usually a mix between Miniature or Toy Poodles crossed with a Golden Retriever, which usually results in a dog that is 13 to 20 inches tall and weighs on average 15 to 35 pounds. These sizes, however, can vary greatly depending on the size of the parents for each puppy. They are generally healthy dogs but, like all breeds, can be prone to certain conditions. This breed has a desire to please and are known for developing affectionate bonds with their owners which makes them an excellent breed for owners excited to play with them. This information is only a generalization and we make no guarantees on any breed related to personality, appearance, or typical health characteristics. Life Span Did You Know? Although this breed is very popular, it is not currently recognized by the American Kennel Club. As long as they are well-socialized, Miniature Goldendoodles tend to make excellent family companions. They tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. Although they will alert you of strangers at the door, they tend to warm up quickly as they are more interested in making friends and receiving attention. Mini Goldendoodles are highly adaptable dogs. Their smaller size makes them a great fit for apartment living or for bigger homes with yards where they can run. As long as they get enough daily exercise, mental stimulation, and attention, they can adapt well. These little dogs tend to do well in just about any climate. However, like any dog, they are sensitive to heat. Due to their smaller size, you may need to gear up with some dog-friendly winter gear when temperatures start falling. Because this dog breed is loyal and people-oriented, they love to be in your company and do not like being left alone for long periods of time. This means they can be prone to developing separation anxiety if you do not work with them on it early on. Instead, make sure your new Mini Goldendoodle puppy has an active role in your life. If you do need to leave them alone for a bit, make sure they have some comforting toys or challenging puzzles to keep them from getting bored. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. Make sure you are asking about the health and genetic history of the parents. You can also ask about any health tests and clearances that have been done. The Mini Goldendoodles is a highly intelligent dog that picks up on things quickly and is eager to please. They tend to be sensitive to tone of voice as well. As long as training is consistent and focused on positive praise and reward, a Mini Goldendoodle will strive to be obedient and impress you and tends to excel at almost any task. These traits make the Mini Goldendoodle one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners and a good fit for owners of all experience levels. Daily brushing is recommended to remove tangles and prevent mats. Bathing is occasional and can often be relegated to the dog groomer that is recommended you visit every weeks. The groomer can help handle some of this during visits, but you will still need to do some maintenance at home between visits. Nail trims once or twice monthly keep nails from growing too long. Weekly ear checks with careful cleanings as needed help prevent ear infections. Daily brushing, plus cleanings at the vet as needed, is good dental care for dogs and can help prevent painful dental diseases later in life. Although the parents of this breed have a lot of energy, a Mini Goldendoodle tends to sit in a more moderate activity range. Daily walks plus some playtime and time to run are usually enough for them. But, they are also likely to match their energy level to yours, so be prepared for some bursts of energy as well as plenty of cuddling on the couch. Fully-grown Mini Goldendoodles usually stand inches tall at the shoulder. A Miniature Goldendoodle puppy can vary in size based on the generation of the dog. The result is generally a dog that will range from pounds. Looking at the size of the parents for an F1 or F1-B puppy can be a good indication of what size to expect in a fully-grown Miniature Goldendoodle. Mini Goldendoodles generally live for years on average. Featured Mini Goldendoodle Article.
Check out the "our new friends" tab to see more. I have carefully selected my breeding stock our family pets from countries all over the world. By choosing animals from all corners of the earth I have created my own individual outstanding purebred lines. In my quest to create my breeding stock I looked for versatility in each blood line. I looked at the temperament and personality in each individual dog. I wanted a variety of coat colors from bright white to light cream, but the individual animals genetic makeup and overall personality was the most important to me. I searched records to see how long different bloodlines lived because I wanted my puppies to live long healthy. I looked for animals that moved with grace and stood proud. I wanted beauty and poise. I wanted to produce puppies that would only enhance the English Cream Golden Retriever breed. I wanted my animals to create their own legacy. We promise that the puppy has been loved by us and handled numerous times every day in a loving way. We promise we have done everything that we could think of to ensure that your puppy will be a happy well balanced individual. We promise to tell you everything about his personality that we are aware of. We promise all of this is to the best of our knowledge. Our English Cream Golden Retrievers are members of our family. We love them, we play with them, we camp with them, we swim with them. Some of them want to sit on us, and want us to hold them like we did when they were 10 pounds. But now they are 85 pounds. We laugh at them, we laugh with them, we talk with them, and they talk to us. They walk beside us, not in front of us. We teach them right from wrong and their world falls apart at the first "No". Some of us dress them up in silly stuff and they wear it all day without a complaint, some of us tie there ears together with a hair tie to make them look like a bunny. And they rather like it. We go to them with tears in our eyes and they listen. Sometimes they stand or sit besides us for hours just to see if we need them. They are never ever mean to us, they never get mad at us, they will listen to what is bothering us when no one else has time. They prance and their tails wag every time we glance at them. They love us so very much. They have baskets of toys here, there, and everywhere. They have daily contests to see who can hold the most toys in their mouths. They love to play fetch with us. They are our pride and our joy and I do not know how we could live without them. Use tab to navigate through the menu items. We are a small hobby breeder of only this breed. We are located on over an acre of land in Southern California. Our goal is to breed for conformation, health, and temperment. For Conformation, we attend at least 2 shows a year and make sure our dogs are champions before they are bred. All Clearances and needed x-rays are done to produce the healthiest puppy possible. Our dogs also display affectionate and intelligent behavior as all Golden Retrievers should. We love nothing more than tending to our puppies. All our dogs and puppies are fed high quality food including home-cooked meals. Before the pups are sent to their new owners, they are examined by a qualified professional at a top veterinary facility for health and conformation. All vaccinations and parasite checks are also completed. We are confident in the health of our pups and we back it up with a 1-year health guarantee. Our priority is to make sure our families and puppies are happy in every way. This means that we spend a great amount of time interacting with our puppies to learn their personalities. Additionally, we take our time learning the needs of our customers so they are paired with the perfect pup. From the time our pups are born they are exposed to stimulating age appropriate activities. They are also held by people of all ages and genders. As they get older they are exposed to different noises, other animals, water, different textures and other safe outdoor activities. Good Gracious Goldens was created in when I decided to follow in my mothers footsteps as she has been raising them for over 3o years. Recently we welcomed our 3rd child and decided it was time to split the work without compromising the experience for our adopting families. Now we are working along side Lone Oak Goldens, my dear friend Lori. This decision is not one we took lightly as our reputation is very important to us but I knew her care and expertise would only make us better! I could not imagine a more wonderful partner. She raises them in her home in NE and brings them to my home when they are ready as most of our adopting families are in Colorado including many repeat families! Now I can put all my focus in the communication I pride myself on quick replies , while Lori is loving on the puppies and socializing them getting them ready to meet you! And trust me when you see these puppies you'll see just how much love was poured into them!! I like to say us working together for you, is the truly best of both worlds! We love the English Cream and American Golden breed. We couldn't imagine a better way of life! Of course watching them grow up and thrive is amazing, but I would say my favorite part is seeing the families faces when they see their new family member. Thank you for taking the time to read about us! Our Philosophy! We believe dogs and puppies should be unconditionally loved and cared for as they truly become part of your family. When choosing the right puppy for your family, there are many choices out there. Some puppies are raised in undesirable conditions, this is incredibly heart breaking. Which is why we raise our Golden Retrievers with absolutely no kennels. We believe this makes us different from other breeders. As we are continually trying to improve our breeding program. Our reason for raising English Creme Golden Retrievers is because of our love for the breed and the joy our dogs have brought to our lives. We desire an extraordinary puppy for your family too. When you pick us, we have to pick you too, as we too are selective when choosing forever homes for our pups. Within the first 8 weeks of their lives we spend a lot of time helping them develop social skills and simply loving on them. We get to know each one of the puppies and are fully committed to helping you choose the puppy that is best for you and your family based on gender, temperament and color. We recently joined our breeding program with Lone Oak Goldens. Two families raising puppies together equals double the love! We want to thank you for taking the time to let us introduce you to our family dogs "Grace", "London","Ellie", "Viva", "Margo", "Cooper" and "Hudson" along with their sweet puppies! We look forward to meeting you soon! Sincerely, Libby and Lori. Why choose MN English Golden? The English Cream Golden Retriever is not a separate dog breed from the Golden Retriever ; it is simply a rarer coat color variation. These Golden Retrievers tend to have light white or cream-colored coats instead of honey, golden-brown, or reddish coats. As they are still standard Golden Retrievers, they are recognized by the AKC and other canine organizations and can be registered. An English Cream Golden Retriever has all the same traits as any other Golden Retriever; they are one of the most popular dog breeds and tend to be open, friendly, and make great family pets. One of the facts about Golden Retrievers is that they are considered one of the friendliest dog breeds. As long as they are socialized and trained, Goldens tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. They are even known for being open and friendly with strangers. As one of the kid-friendly dog breeds , Golden Retrievers love attention. These dogs tend to be energetic, full of personality, and are devoted to their families. They also tend to be excitable, which means they can be prone to barking. Training your dog to stop barking early on can help curb this habit and help prevent it from becoming a nuisance. Due to their friendly, gentle nature and intelligence, Goldens can often be found working as service, therapy, or search and rescue dogs. English Cream Golden Retrievers are highly adaptable dogs. Their high energy and exuberance make them better suited for homes with yards where they can run. They can adapt to apartment living, but you will need to dedicate a lot of time every day to ensure they get enough attention, mental stimulation, and exercise. Goldens fare well in most climates. As with any dog breed, they are sensitive to heat and extreme cold. Because they bond so closely with their families and are one of the most affectionate dog breeds , they do not like to spend long periods of time alone. Some potential health concerns to be aware of in an English Cream Golden Retriever can include canine cataracts, progressive retinal atrophy, hip dysplasia, and elbow dysplasia. Good breeding practices reduce the risk of these health issues and make a big difference in the health of puppies. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. The national breed club recommends hip and elbow evaluations, an NCL DNA test, an ophthalmologist evaluation, and a cardiac exam at a minimum. English Cream Golden Retrievers are intelligent and eager to please. This makes them highly trainable dogs that are a good fit for owners of all experience levels. Not only are they one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners , but they also tend to excel at obedience competitions and other dog sports. As one of the smartest dog breeds , Golden Retrievers can get bored easily. Because they pick up things quickly, they can get bored with too much repetition in training. If your dog has mastered basic commands , move on to other activities or more advanced commands. Anything you learn will help and will only strengthen the bond you are building with your puppy. Plus, there are several other benefits of puppy training classes including socialization. English Cream Goldens may have a lighter-colored coat, but they still have the classic longer Golden Retriever coat that will shed a big year-round and heavier as the seasons change. You will want to bathe them as needed and get your Golden professionally groomed a few times a year, especially as the seasons change. Trimming nails once or twice a month keeps them from growing too long. Weekly ear checks, along with careful cleanings as needed, can help prevent ear infections. Daily tooth brushing is ideal to keep tartar buildup at bay. This, plus cleanings at the vet when needed, is good dental care for dogs and can help prevent painful dental diseases later in life. Golden Retrievers are known for being high-energy dogs. Like Labrador Retrievers , they also tend to have an extended puppyhood. They do tend to calm down a little as they grow into adulthood, but will still have a lot of energy. Daily walks plus some playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough to keep this dog happy and healthy. Goldens tend to be athletic and versatile dogs. So, once they are done growing and the vet has cleared them for higher-impact activities, you can take them running with you, play frisbee, go hiking, train for dog sports, and more. As one of the most active dog breeds , you will likely run out of energy before they do and they will likely be up for even more activity if you are. An English Cream Golden Retriever generally lives for years on average. Golden Retrievers are one of the dog breeds of famous dogs.

We spent years, and countless hours researching, and educating ourselves to prepare our program. We take our job as a breeder very seriously and know how crucial responsible breeding is for the future of this amazing breed that we LOVE so much!! About our Breeding Program… From start to finish, we have gone to great lengths to ensure our breeding program is top notch. As health is one of our top priorities, our breeding female s and male s undergo an array of health certifications OFA , and Genetic Health testing to ensure we are producing the healthiest puppies possible. We use the very best products, and supplements and feed a very high-quality diet. And we use the very best veterinary care through a first-class Reproductive Veterinary Clinic to ensure a successful breeding, healthy pregnancy, safe delivery through c-section and exceptional care for both our momma dog and her puppies. At home, our puppy nursery is equipped with a top-rated Dura-Whelp Heated Whelping system, the PET Brooder 60 Incubator with built in humidifier , and an Oxygen Concentrator and Nebulizer for puppies that may require additional support. We are also prepared with tube feeding supplies when supplementation is needed. This approach also includes the importance of breeding with purpose. Carefully selecting dogs for breeding based on various factors such as their genetic history, physical health, and temperament. Combining purposeful breeding with deliberate and intentional curriculum equals well-adjusted healthy puppies. Early Neurological Stimulation is another integral part of the curriculum. Studies have shown that puppies who have been exposed to Bio Sensory training have improved cardiovascular performance, stronger heart beats and adrenal glands, a higher tolerance to stress, and greater resistance to disease. For more information, please visit: www. Behavior and temperament issues contribute to a large percentage of dogs that end up in shelters. We do not want this for our puppies, which is why in addition to selective breeding, and puppy curriculum, we also temperament test our puppies at around 6 weeks of age, which provides a more detailed insight of the personality and temperament for each individual puppy. We have put our blood, sweat and tears into this program. It is of the utmost importance that we match our puppies appropriately to the right homes, where they will continue to be loved and adored for the rest of their lives. From stud selection, preconception, conception, birth, and whelp and puppy care, to finding suitable homes for our puppies - we strive to be an amazing, reputable breeding program that you can trust. We are part of the Good Dog Community. We produce all of the brindles in black, blue, chocolate, lilac , fawns and sables in golden, red, blue, chocolate, lilac , creams, pure coats and tan points in black, blue, chocolate, lilac , and pieds in ALL of these beautiful colors! Puppy pads Create a Schedule Golden Retriever pups would do well with a schedule. Dogs live with a routine, and they are easy to train by having one. For this reason, make a schedule of the things you need to do regularly. Eventually, your pup will learn the routine events and will make itself adept at them. It will help you prepare for your pet, especially in the first few days of living together. As you allow your pet to adjust, do your best to create a stress-free environment for it. Always supervise it as it familiarizes itself with its new home. It can even grow louder as they age. Moderate Training Golden Retrievers responds well, especially to positive reinforcement. Squeaky Toys Out of all toys, your pet will love the squeaky ones. For this reason, prepare for a lot of loud squeaks every time your pet is active. Thus, in picking your pet, you may want to consider getting it from the best. Tells you any health problems A good breeder will tell you any significant health problems in any of the dogs he or she bred. Asks more questions than you A good breeder would ask for more items from you than you would for him or her. Not in a hurry to send off A good breeder is not in a hurry to send the puppies off and get your money. He or she will even show you other breeders and veterinarians caring for their dogs. Requires expectations on both sides A good breeder will create a contract that offers not only what he or she expects from you. More than that, he or she will also show what you can expect from him or her. Sends puppies properly A good breeder will never send a puppy in a compartment and without any responsible person to go with it. Works only with one or two breeds A good breeder works only with a single or a couple of species. Shows breeding experience A good breeder shows her dogs in recognized confirmation shows. He or she will also join his or her breed in other breed-related performance events. Other states. Alice Mischievous Bundle of Fun Alice is one of our mama dogs. She lives in a guardian home and is such a joy. Alice has a sweet nature about her that just draws people in. She is an excellent Mother. Great communication with the breeder, Annabel. My Kingsley is now 10 months old, she is so smart, lovable and a blessing all around. Such a great temperament, easy to train and a great companion! I now wonder what I ever did without her! Thank you Hufflepups! Kingsley A good friend of mine had a dog named bubba who I instantly fell in love with. His mannerisms and his loving and smiley personality made everyone who met bubba want a bubba. I asked her where she got him and she then told me Hufflepup Goldens out of wasilla, Alaska. I immediately contacted them and spoke with Annabel who is the breeder. From the moment I first spoke to her to picking up my own good boy Rexx it was nothing but smooth and she constantly kept me as well as the other potential owners in the loop on the progress of the moms pregnancy, the birth of the Goldens, the vet appointments, kennel training, potty training, to picking up the Goldens to take them to their forever home. Annabel is nothing but friendly and extremely helpful through everything as well as keeping up with how they are doing after they go to their forever home. Questions on food or other helpful information she has never had a problem with guiding me through things to make sure Rexx is a healthy happy boy! Such a well tempered, and loving dog. He is very healthy and always very happy. Anytime someone meets Rexx they instantly fall in love with him. He is thee most amazing addition to my family. Rexx is very good with everybody with all ages, as well other dogs of all breeds. He is extremely gentle and loving with our one and a half year old. It takes everything to be patient on the time my significant other will let me have another lol. That was until my mom got Kingsley from Annabel. I helped coparent her and watched her when my mom was gone. Her temperament and unconditional love were amazing! That was then I decided that if I got a dog, it would be from Hufflepup goldens. He learned his name and to sit in a day! I recommend her to everyone I meet. The whole process of getting her was above and beyond. Communication was timely and they kept us in the loop through out the process with regular updates. Puppies also get introduced to puppy culture which is a plus. Our pup received a vet check before we picked her to make sure she was healthy and ready to go home to us. I have two puppies from different litters from them and they are the perfect dogs for us. They are the ideal family dog in the fact that they are gentle, well behaved with some training that they pick up quickly, and still playful. They are just as beautiful and perfect as their siblings. You cannot go wrong with a puppy from Hufflepup! From proper genetic testing of the parents to conditioning the puppies to new surroundings and animals, I knew we were making the right choice and still stand by that choice today. I will always be grateful for the quality of breeding and friendliness of Hufflepup Goldens. You can tell they truly care about the long term success and health of their litters. Our girl Harper is the smartest, most well-behaved and beautiful companion we could have asked for. I highly recommend them to anyone I know looking for a thorough and trustworthy Golden breeder! We are so happy we found Hufflepup Goldens. She was very responsive and worked with us as we were military stationed at Eielson AFB. She always sent pictures of all the pups, kept us updated each week and let us do visits until we were able to pick up our new four legged family member. When the day comes to get another golden I will definitely use her again regardless of where the military sends us. To anyone looking for a Golden I highly recommend Hufflepup Goldens! Bentley Our young kids begged almost daily for another dog after ours cross the Rainbow Bridge several years ago in another state. Being military and moving a lot we promised our kids we would get another once my husband retired. Growing up I had a Golden Retriever and he was an amazing dog. I knew a Golden would make an excellent addition to our family and would be a great companion for our kids. Knowing Alaska was in our future as our forever home I started a lot of research on reputable breeders and found that Annabel and Hufflepup Goldens was only one of a couple that were repeatedly highly recommended for Golden Retrievers due to her standards and the health of her dogs. I contacted her in early and had a great phone conversation where she answered all of my questions. Our kids waited five years for a puppy and almost two weeks ago we finally brought our sweet boy home. Brody is almost 10 weeks old and already has a sweet, comforting, playful personality. You cannot go wrong here! Tobias is only 18 months old and he has the very best temperament and is graduating from his service dog training program very soon. Annabel does an incredible job giving her puppies the very best foundation to build on! Tobias is a confident, even-tempered and attentive puppy who has not only learned his jobs with me, but also is just an amazing family pet on his down time. Tobias runs along side my horse when I go for rides, he goes to work with me and he sleeps next to me. I get compliments on how handsome he is and how amazing his temperament is pretty much everywhere I go. If you are wanting a dog with a good foundation, Annabel is hands-down the very best Breeder with the sweetest dogs! My story started when a friend turned me on to Hufflepup Goldens on Facebook. I contacted Annabel right away and put down a deposit. Annabel was such a joy to work with, very communicative, and I could tell she loves doing this and loves those puppies! We have enjoyed this journey so much that our daughter and family had to have a Hufflepup too - and to boot, her 9 week old pup, Lilly, is Bella's sister! Puppy Culture is wonderful and because of the puppies start from the love of Annabel and family using Puppy Culture, Bella has been easy to train and is a pleaser. Part of this is because of Annabel's expertise and the rest goes to the smarts of Golden Retrievers! I highly recommend Annabel and Hufflepup Goldens as your next breeder! Bella "I found Hufflepuff Goldens through some friends of mine who have a golden from Annabel when I was looking to add a second puppy to my family. My little Jedi is perfect. He plays so well with his sister. I loved the puppy culture training. He was easy to crate and potty train. He's a snuggler and loves everyone. It's apparent that Hufflepuff puppies are loved and part of the family. I'm not sure how Annabel does it, but the pups and their pens were always immaculate when visiting, and come pick day you have plenty of time, although my little Jedi picked me. If you are looking to add a golden to your family I can't recommend Hufflepuff and Annabel enough. She picked out Dennis the day we came to see the puppies. She kept sitting on his foot whenever he held another puppy. She alerts me every morning when he gets up and loves to clean his beard. We can't wait until she is old enough to go through service dog training so she can go everywhere with us! She is the bright spot in our long and rough journey. We thank Timber Creek Goldens for all the love they give their dogs and the new families they help with their puppies. He was easy to train and has the sweetest demeanor. Couldn't have asked for a better experience from Timber Creek! He is one of the only two breeders I will communicate with. Jordan knows his dogs, business, and is very informative. His vet is also pleasant to talk to. I couldn't be happier with the buying process and how he treats not only his dogs, but his customers as well. Finn is beautiful and such a sweetheart. Thank you so much. Matthew Cook;Anchorage, Alaska Short version: these folks are the best, no questions asked. We adopted Marlin, and he is about as perfect as a puppy that anyone could ask for. He is very healthy and has a wonderful temperament. I would say that the bloodline is top notch. Marlin wants nothing other than to just chill with his family. He is so gentle and loyal, when off a leash he rarely goes more than ten feet and always comes right back. He took to our girls, literally, instantly after getting home. He follows them everywhere! He is super snuggly and lovable. Timber Creek has excellent communication and super speedy replies. Every question I asked had an answer instantly, no "uh, let me check" or anything like that. They treat customers as friends, I was at the vet and had a question so I called. Unknowingly, I interrupted them outside with their family yet I still had everything answered. In my opinion; Timber Creek is easily amongst the best breeders around. Just over all friendly and easy to work with. I could not recommend getting a puppy from them enough! In a couple years or so, we plan on getting a second puppy from them! They are rambunctious and playful but also cuddly and sweet and LOVE having their bellies scratched. It is difficult to get a pic of them because they rarely hold still but here they are at 13 weeks today! Thank you, Jordan, for breeding and raising such special pups that have brought our family so much joy and love! Devon Truitt, Arkansas Man, we love this girl. My husband and I brought her home around Halloween and she has been just the best since then. In the past month she has really started to mature and come in to her own. We love her so much! Thank you Timber Creek for this wonderful addition to our family! From helping us make the perfect selection to the final follow up emails making sure everything with Gracie's transition went well. It was an easy, transparent, and seamless process. It's hard to put into words the happiness she has brought into our lives. We can't thank Jordan and his family enough! Dara Dossett, Arkansas I can't thank you guys enough for this sweet angel. Dolly has not had one accident since I got her and she immediately goes potty when we go out. She is the biggest cuddle bug and has adjusted so well! I put her in bed with me last night and she didn't make a peep. I got up at and but that was me waking her up. She went right back to sleep when we came back to bed. Such and incredible blessing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Jordan and Victoria are incredible from the first conversation of interest- to flying our baby to California for us! We are so in love with our little lady. She is so calm and curious. They not only have beautiful dogs, but just the loveliest to work with. I highly recommend them!! Thank you guys so much!! From the time I first contacted them about getting a puppy, they've been helpful. The process was smooth from purchasing to having our beautiful little girl shipped to Lexington, Kentucky. They updated me with pictures as she was growing, reaching out to check on her, answering any questions about puppy care I've had, and truly care about the puppies they provide. I have had an exciting experience preparing for Beretta's arrival and was in love with her the moment I picked her up. She's been well taken care of and am thankful for the opportunity to raise her as my own. Tamara Warren, Nevada I chose Timber Creek Golden Retrievers after losing both my male and female Golden's recently because of the dedication to responsible breeding Jordan adheres to. I received my first puppy female in late October and I could not be happier. As a result, I have since reserved another female from an upcoming litter and anxiously await her arrival in late January .I have had Golden Retrievers for most of my life and I must admit that my pup is probably THE most intelligent and yes energetic of any dog I've ever had. Jordan is an absolute delight and is incredibly responsive, patient and informative. As a business owner myself these are qualities that I most admire. He has a client for life and my utmost respect! We are located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. When we started our search for a family pet we were interested in a non-shedding, hypoallergenic and small to medium sized dog that wouldn't be as likely to knock over the elderly people we work with. These criteria led us to the wonderful miniature doodles. We started searching for mini goldendoodles in our area, but were only able to find standard sized goldendoodles. We broadened our search and eventually found our Eli, Charlie and Callie out of state. Since then we have fallen so deeply in love with this breed. They have brought such joy, laughter, companionship and love into each of our lives. Because of this we decided to start breeding miniature doodles in the area in hopes to share the love they bring us with other families. We are a small family breeder who loves each and every one of our dogs. They are very active in our lives and spend time around humans all day. Our dogs act as therapy dogs in our Assisted living Facility. The residents get such pleasure in sharing their lives with these fury friends. The facility Doctor takes them to visit other facilities in the city where they get to spread their love and bring sunshine to the elderly. Doodles have great temperaments and do well with people of all ages. We hope you will enjoy them as much as we do. God bless you all. Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments. What should I know about Labradoodle puppies for sale near Jackson? Labradoodles are a popular crossbreed of Labrador Retriever and Poodle. They are known for being loyal, friendly and loving companions. They are also intelligent, confident and active, making them great family or therapy dogs. Labradoodles need regular grooming, exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom and excessive barking. They also have a tendency to shed, so regular brushings are advised to minimize shedding. Will Labradoodle puppies for sale in Jackson cause me to have allergies? Labradoodles are a hybrid dog, meaning that they are a mix between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. Since they are a hybrid breed, their coat is unique and can range from wiry to soft. Depending on an individual's specific allergic sensitivities, Labradoodles may or may not cause allergies. Some people with mild allergies find that they are better able to tolerate Labradoodles than a purebred breed. What should I feed Jackson Labradoodle puppies for sale? Labradoodles are known for their love of food, so feeding your pup the right food is very important. Ideally, you should feed your Labradoodle a high-quality, grain-free, nutritionally balanced diet that is made specifically for large breeds. You should also consult with your vet about the right portion sizes for your Labradoodle, as it is important to ensure they are getting the right amount of food for their size and activity level. Avoid giving your Labradoodle high-starch foods, such as potatoes and rice, as they can often lead to weight gain. How do I prepare to adopt Labradoodle puppies in Jackson? Preparing for your new Labradoodle should start long before you bring him home. Research breed-specific characteristics so you understand the unique needs and temperament of a Labradoodle. This is crucial for setting expectations and familiarizing yourself with their care. Labradoodles can vary greatly in their size, so it's difficult to determine whether they could be classified as big dogs. Generally, Labradoodles can range from 14 to 24 inches tall and weigh between 15 and 65 pounds. Some Labradoodles could be considered on the larger size when it comes to certain breeds, yet may still not reach the same size as many other large breed dogs. As long as they are properly socialized, they tend to be open and friendly dogs that get along well with just about anyone. These dogs tend to do well with children, other dogs, and other pets. Does the Size of a Bowl Matter for a Puppy? Your puppy may not be able to comfortably eat from a too-small, too-tall or too-deep bowl. Like Goldilocks, you'll want to find one that's "just right" for your puppy and the adult dog he'll become. Bowl Size A bowl should be large enough that your dog can comfortably open and close her mouth to grab morsels, but does not need to be larger. Accordingly, a miniature poodle and a Great Dane do not need the same size bowl, even as puppies. You may opt to buy a bowl large enough for your puppy to grow into, or start with a small bowl appropriate to her size and scale up as she grows. Bowl Height Bowls vary in shape, and the right size bowl will be wide enough and tall enough for your dog. If your puppy will grow into a large dog, consider investing in a dish that has adjustable height. As your dog grows taller, raise the height of the bowl so he does not have to strain his neck or bend his body to eat. Small breeds, even as adults, won't have to strain to reach a bowl on the floor so they do not need adjustable height bowls. Considerations A puppy may not be able to reach the bottom of a deep bowl, since his legs are short and his body is close to the ground. For this reason, choose a bowl that is broad and shallow over a deep bowl. To make sure the bowl you're considering isn't too deep, take your pup to the pet store and place the bowl in front of him to test it out. How Much to Feed Many owners tend to overfeed dogs when using a large bowl. Over time, this can contribute to pet obesity. For this reason, choose the right size bowl for your puppy and feed the appropriate amount, using a measuring cup. Feed the recommended amount of puppy food based on your dog's size and switch to standard dog food when your puppy reaches physical maturity. Small dogs tend to mature around 10 to 12 months; large dogs can take up to two years to mature. Your vet can advise you on when your breed of puppy should mature. More Articles. Determining the Correct Height Determine the correct position for your dog's food bowl by measuring your standing dog from the floor under the front paws to the top of the shoulders and then subtract about 5 inches. Your dog should be able to eat without lowering her neck or stretching upwards. The top of a dog food bowl at the correct height should be about level with the lower part of your dog's chest. Growing dog? Check out our adjustable height pet feeders. Benefits of a Raised Dog Food Bowl Placing a dog bowl at an elevated height allows a more upright posture, beneficial for some dogs. When dog bowls are placed at a raised height this can provide less strain on your dog's joints, especially helpful for older or arthritic dogs. Note: Some dog health experts feel that deadly bloat may occur in dogs who eat too fast, Raised dog food bowls may or may not promote rapid eating. Bloat is more common in large, barrel-chested dogs. It also occurs more frequently in male dogs and in dogs with relatives who have had bloat. Talk to your veterinarian if you're concerned about your dog's risks with regards to her eating habits. Frequently asked So what size elevated dog bowl do I need anyway? Great question! To make it easy, we've made a dog bowl size chart, so you can easily find the perfect size wooden dog stand for your dog. Dog bowl sizes Dog bowl size chart Not sure what dog bowl size is right for your dog? Generally, the required elevated dog feeding station size corresponds to the height of the dog's legs. It is not atypical for both males and females to eat more or less depending on varying factors such as age and health conditions. A pregnant or nursing female Golden Retriever will need around 2, calories a day to maintain a satisfactory weight. Ideally, Golden Retrievers should be fed twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening. Although their adorable faces are hard to resist it is important that they have a healthy balance to their meals and snacks. Good carbs would be things such as potatoes, rice, wheat, and oats. With all of this physical activity, it is important to have food and water bowls that can adequately fulfill their needs on a day-to-day basis. Stainless steel dog bowls would be the best choice for this but there are a ton of many other great alternatives such as the ones on our list. You will also have to pick products based on the playfulness of your pup. If they are known to rip and run around the house then go with a sturdier choice. If you and your dog enjoy evening or morning hikes then we would urge you to pick an option that would reflect that as well. Thanks for reading! Share this article. Further Reading Looking for the perfect dog bowl for your Golden Retriever? Check out our top picks for the best dog bowls for Golden Retrievers, including elevated, stainless steel, and collapsible options! You can go to the store and see a lot of choices. Which one is the best bowl for your dog? What kind of material should we choose? There are many questions that arise in our minds. If you have a golden retriever, you know how much fun it is to take care of this dog. Even though they are so cute, be sure to buy the best dog bowls for golden retrievers to keep your doggy warm and comfortable. So your golden retriever is turning one year old soon? You might be considering getting a birthday present for him. As dog owners know, good gifts are hard to find. The right dog bowl not only needs to be good-looking, but durable and well thought out as well. This article will present my top picks for the best dog bowls for golden retrievers. Should golden retrievers use elevated bowls? The question is, should golden retrievers use elevated bowls? The answer, of course, depends on your goals. If you want your dog to be as tall as possible, then yes. If you want your dog to have to bend over and strain itself to eat, then obviously no. Dogs with a tendency to eat too fast or become anxious about their food may benefit from elevated feeders. This is especially helpful for large dogs such as golden retrievers, who tend to gobble down their food because of the size of their stomachs. Elevated dog bowls provide your golden retriever with a more ergonomic eating experience that can help prevent joint and neck pain. The idea is that the raised position of the bowl allows your dog to eat in a more natural position and puts less strain on the front legs and neck. What size bowls for a golden retriever? The answer to this question will depend largely on your dog. After all, all dogs are individuals, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. A good rule of thumb is to find a bowl that your dog can comfortably put its face in, while still having its ears upright. For example, my golden retriever weighs about 60 pounds. He eats from an inch diameter bowl without any problems. The smaller size also makes it easier for him to carry the bowl when he moves around the house. The key is finding a bowl that works for you and your dog! You might have to experiment with different sizes until you find one that works best. Do golden retrievers need a slow feeder? A slow feeder dog bowls are simply a dog bowl that has been designed in a way that makes it difficult for your pooch to quickly gobble their dinner. Instead, they have to eat slowly, taking care of each bite. This leads to an improved mealtime experience and can even help prevent bloating and choking in dogs who inhale their food too quickly. However, for some dog breeds, a slow feeder may be beneficial for slowing down eating habits and reducing the risk of certain health problems. Other pups may simply need some help learning how to eat slowly. Where do you put a dog bowl? You need to pick a place where your dog can eat in peace. Avoid putting it near anything smelly, like the trash can or dirty laundry pile. Your dog will appreciate having a quiet, calm place to eat. Make sure your dog has room to stand and move around his bowl without getting tangled up in furniture or other things. Some dogs may be sensitive about people standing over them while they eat, so try not to hover around them while he eats. But our goal is to help you decide which ones would be best for your particular situation. Its reinforced plastic rim makes it easy for your pet to access food and water while on the go. It is ideal for walks, hiking, dog parks, and long car rides. The Comfort Feeder is perfect for dogs of all life stages and can help reduce stress on their joints and bones. This feature makes it an ideal choice for more mature dogs and medium-sized dogs alike. In addition, this raised dog bowl serves as a constant water supply by replacing one of the stainless steel dog bowls with a two-liter water bottle, making it an automatic water bowl for dogs. Made of rust-resistant stainless steel, this pet food and water bowl is not only durable but also a hygienic alternative to plastic bowls. The no-tip design with a wide non-slip base holds up to 38 ounces of dry kibble, wet food, fresh water, or treats. The rubber ring on the bottom keeps the bowl in place and protects floors from scratches, so your furry friend can eat or drink without any hassle. Cleaning the bowl is a breeze as it is easy to wash by hand or in the dishwasher. This set includes two 14oz stainless steel bowls that are perfect for food or water. The flexible silicone mats keep the dog food bowl in the same place, while the raised lip design prevents spills and keeps your floor clean. Your Golden Retriever will love their new bowl set! More importantly, your pet dog could end up eating too much or taking in too little to maintain a healthy diet. Fortunately, you can minimize the chances of either scenario being a reality with the right dog bowl for your pet. Further Reading.

Read More About Our Australian Labradoodles and their origin This classic example of logical and planned crossbreeding was created in the country of Australia in the s. The goal of the Australian clubs is to create a new "breed" with the best attributes of the original breeds. The original objective was to produce assistance dogs that do not shed hair for people with allergies. Australians, on the other hand, have taken the Labradoodle a few steps further. In mid it was announced that the Australian Labradoodle was not just a Labrador x Poodle cross , but was a breed in its own right developed over many years with particular goals in mind. To accomplish these goals, further development was done with parent breed infusions added to the already blooming Labrador x Poodle cross lines. The developers of the breed sought out the best way in which to compliment the Australian Labradoodle breed, and to develop the authentic qualities that they find and love in these dogs. In the very first Australian Labradoodle Breed Standard was written which reflected these goals. The Australian Labradoodle currently consists of 6 different breeds in its origin. We truly believe our Australian Labradoodles are the best dog available and will make a great addition to your family. Conveniently located between Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago , we are here to help puppies find their forever home with your family. Dogs are loved by most humans, and the Golden Retriever happens to be one of the most popular breeds in America. They are beautiful, hardworking, and fun-loving dogs who are unconditionally affectionate toward their owners. They are very competitive and are often used in hunting scenes for sniffing out and retrieving game for hunters. Others are employed as walking guides for the blind. The high-spirited nature of puppies tends to last longer in this breed up until adulthood, so you are sure to have lots of fun with your Golden Retriever. Knowledge about their coat from pup to adulthood can help you better care for your Golden Retriever. As puppies, they are born with soft and fluffy hair coats which help to keep them warm. This hair begins to change as they grow, starting from the tail. The new growth is darker and coarser, pushing the soft and fluffy hair aside so that it forms an undercoat; this is what makes them double-coated. Shedding The Golden Retriever is quite a generous shedder, dropping the most hair during late Spring and late Fall. Care of the Coat As most Golden Retrievers have long hair, it is important to properly manage their coat. Especially as they get older, dogs of this breed may not be able to groom their fur properly, and when the thick coat is shed it may clump together and form mats. If there are twigs, leaves or grass seeds tangled up in their hair, they will be even more difficult to remove after the bath. Adult Golden Retrievers might not need to be bathed any more than once in six to eight weeks, but as puppies are much more energetic and prone to dirtying up, they might need to be bathed twice a week. You can find the best shampoo to use on a Golden Retriever's fur here. Brushing the Golden once or twice a week is good for their coat; this should, however, be increased to a daily activity during the shedding season. If you own a puppy, then you should start brushing them sooner so that they get used to it. Start with a soft brush and progress to a stiff-bristled one as they grow. A lot of commercial dog foods are well formulated to cater to those needs. There are also numerous supplements available for a long, shiny coat. If you decide to feed them homemade food, it may help to enlist the help of a veterinary nutritionist to ensure you are meeting all their nutritional needs. We recommend using an inch-wide collar for your long-haired Golden Retriever, as using a wider collar could lead to matting, and using a narrower one can cause skin irritation, asphyxiation, and hair loss. Also, while this breed is great in search and rescue operations, they can be just as clumsy and may still go missing. They will bathe your dog, clean their ears, and cut their nails. A grooming salon also takes care of trimming their coat to the length you want. If your Golden has a skin condition that requires special shampoo, you can discuss this with your groomer so that they use the prescribed skincare on your dog during their grooming session. Conclusion Golden Retrievers are a lovable breed of pets that are loyal to their families. But that beautiful coat needs care and attention to avoid getting matted. Taking proper care of them is part of our responsibility as pet owners to ensure our Golden Retrievers are healthy and happy. Golden puppies are not born with full hair, though. Instead, they have short, fluffy coats, which later grow into a long, shiny hair. So, at what age does a Golden Retriever get long hair? A Golden Retriever starts growing long hair on its tail at three months of age. The feathers on its legs, chest, and stomach start showing at about one year. Some dogs might sport longer or heavier coats than others. This article will explore what determines the age at which your Golden Retriever gets long hair. Finally, you will learn how to take care of your Golden Retriever to ensure his coat remains healthy and shiny. This is the best at home dog training I've ever used! The outer coat of long hair extends to the tail and underbody but is longest in the areas where it feathers out away from the body. These areas include the tail, chest, legs, and stomach. This comes down to the specific genes they received from their parents. Note: In traditional Scotland, Golden Retrievers accompanied hunters on their hunting trips, and their work was to retrieve prey. The dogs sported long hair and thick undercoats, which protected them from the biting cold and heat. It will take about 3 months before you begin to see the first signs of longer hair, usually on their tail. From this stage on, a Golden puppy starts sprouting feathers aka longer hair. This growth marks a departure from puppy fluff and the beginning of the long, full coat characteristic of a mature Golden Retriever. This will help you estimate more accurately when your puppy might get his longer hair. Golden Retriever Hair Growth Stages As mentioned earlier, a Golden Retriever puppy starts growing adult hair at approximately three months old. However, this growth is subtle and may not be noticeable until he is closer to one year old. Your Golden Retriever can be considered to have a fully grown coat when he is two years of age. Long adult hair starts growing first at the tail. This feathering process then proceeds to the legs and stomach. With time, the entire body gets the adult coat, which tends to be darker than the former puppy fur. Feathered fur is usually light and soft and is useful for temperature regulation; it thickens during the cold season and thins during warmer months. Interestingly, Golden puppies do not shed their puppy fur. Instead, once new hair starts growing, the puppy fur gets nudged aside by the newer and longer outer coat. Golden Retriever puppies are actually born with their undercoat. They grow their long hair out over the top as they get older. Eventually, the undercoat grows thicker as the longer outer coat begins to cover it. This transition takes almost 18 months, though, for most Retrievers, the full coat grows once the dog is more than a year old. If he spends considerable time outdoors, he is bound to get a much thicker coat than if he were to stay indoors. The mature coat helps keep your dog both warm and dry, depending on the weather. The dog also sheds more during the summer months in order to keep cool. The thing is, for double-coated dogs, the undercoat grows much faster than the outer coat. As such, when you shave your Golden, the hair that grows back tends to look dull and uneven. Furthermore, your dog needs his full coat to protect him from the sun. Besides, Golden Retrievers are heavy shedders, and frequent grooming reduces the amount of shed hair found around the house. Early grooming is also beneficial in other ways: It allows your puppy to get used to grooming, thus making the activity easier and even enjoyable to him as he becomes an adult. For Golden Retrievers with long hair, grooming helps keep the hair in check and reduces excessive shedding Brushing encourages blood circulation in the skin, which stimulates the hair follicles and promotes hair production. Start by using a soft brush and always ensure that you brush parallel to the hair growth. Do this daily or once a week. You may add a pin brush and a rake Amazon to your grooming tools as your puppy matures. The rake is excellent for removing debris and detangling messy undercoat hair. Discover how to train your Golden Retriever by playing games : 21 games to play with your Golden that will make them smarter and better behaved! This will help make way for new growth and reduce the amount of fur that settles on your clothing. When washing your Golden retriever, try to use shampoos with the least amount of chemicals like this one at Amazon. This helps retain the hair better by reducing shedding. If your dog has skin issues, consult your vet. The vet will determine the cause of the problem and advise on diet change or the appropriate mode of treatment. These beneficial Omega acids can be in fish oil, coconut oil, and olive oil, or through additional vitamin supplements Amazon found to be good for Golden Retrievers. Also, beef bones containing bone marrow are excellent for healthy skin. Remember to clear this with your vet if your dog has allergies that would prevent him from consuming any of the recommended foods and supplements. Watch Out for Unusual Shedding Golden Retrievers shed their hair year-round but the shedding becomes especially heavy twice a year in the spring and fall seasons. However, if the shedding seems unusual or: The shedding is excessive and out of season Your dog is losing large patches of hair You may need to visit your vet since this could be a medical issue. Your dog might be suffering from a fungal or bacterial infection, a food allergy, or external parasites such as fleas or mites. If the hair loss is accompanied by a strong odor, see my article Smelly Golden Retrievers What Stinks? Here are some useful suggestions on how to accomplish this: Keep your dog clean. Long hair coats can trap twigs and leaves, which could cause the hair to tangle and mat. Always remove such items before your dog takes a bath — every weeks for adults but more often for puppies as they get dirtier. Brush the coat often. Have a regular brushing routine. Brush your Golden Retriever more often during shedding season — like daily. Provide high-quality nutrition. This should contain the right nutritional balance and include minerals, vitamins, fiber, proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. Final Thoughts Every Golden Retriever follows a unique timeline when it comes to growing long hair. Even their hair color appears in different shades of gold. Keep looking out for the initial feathery patches, and once these kick in, you will be sure that long hair is on the way. With time, your reward will be a coat full of lustrous, shiny golden hair.
