WELCOME The Northern Ireland Boxer Rescue Society was formed on 12th October by a group of concerned boxer owners and breeders who were worried about the large number of boxer puppies being bred by back street breeders and puppy farmers mills with no thought or concern for the puppies they produced. Our aim is to help the welfare of the Boxer Breed - specifically those that through no fault of their own become homeless, whether this occurs due to a change in the owners circumstances or because they have been callously abused or abandoned. We compile and maintain a list of people who are prepared to take on a rescue dog and provide a secure and loving home for the rest of the boxers life. All the people on our list have been "home checked" and approved by our committee members who complete a detailed questionnaire to help us select the right home for a particular dog. Please be aware that not everyone passes a home check by us and a promise made to you by the new owner as regards spaying etc, may not actually happen. DONATIONS As with all rescue organisations, we depend on donations through car boot sales, raffle tickets and the like, to help us meet the ongoing kennel and veterinary fees. We use experienced in home fosters so we do not pay kennel fees also this gives dogs who may have never been in a home environment a bit of home comforts and helps them adjust to Family life ie hoovers and washing machines. We spay and neuter all dogs who come to us and we prefer rehome in Northern Ireland so as we can keep check that everything is running smoothly and there are no problems. He has been taught sit, "high five" and down position. He has not however been taught much lead manners. He needs a bit off work in that department. I would reccomend some obedience classes for him as he is very clever. Very friendly with adults, children and dogs. He can be over friendly with dogs in that all he wants is play and he can be a bit "full on". Loves his toys and balls. He needs a fully enclosed garden and he would suit an energenic active Family who enjoy the outdoors. Axel had been left from 6 am - 8 pm by his previous owner. We took our two Greyhounds and Whippet on an overnight trip to attend a Greyhound gathering in Southern Pennsylvania. It would require spending a night in a pet-friendly hotel. We weren't sure how that was going to work out. While the two boys - one a Greyhound, the other a Whippet are up for any trip out of the house, our girl, a Greyhound gets nervous about everything, including wind. We made the four-hour trip with no issues, and upon checking in, found that we were being put in a room on the second floor, completely opposite from where the dog walk area was located. The challenge would be using an elevator every time we needed to take the dogs out for their business. Using stairs would be difficult, especially for our male Greyhound since he broke his leg during his time at a Greyhound racetrack, and he doesn't do stairs well, especially two flights of them. Get our free mobile app Surprisingly, our girl and Whippet were no problem. Our male Greyhound though for whatever reason, did not like being in a hotel. It was a rough night, to be honest, and we didn't get much sleep due to his uneasiness. The rest of the trip went by with no major issues. I was appreciative that there was a hotel that allows pets in the room and wondered if there are any places in the Greater Binghamton area that allow pets. So, I went about asking the question on social media, got back some business names. If you know of any more, let me know and I will add them to the list. Just a bit of advice. These businesses were submitted from our question on Facebook, and some may have certain rules or no longer accept pets, so call ahead before bringing Fido along. I am constantly stopped on the street and asked about where I got mochi and Zima. They are perfect and deb has been super helpful each step of the way with the process and answered any question I had. Margret C. During that first phone call I asked her with questions about her kennel, her breeding philosophy, and overall questions about Frenchies and how well a puppy would fit in our house. I was particularly concerned with breathing issues that these dogs so often has, and Deb was able to answer all of these questions with with ease and details since she has a deep experience in breeding Frenchies, and loves to do it. Some breeders never replied, some were short, but Deb emailed us back right away and even set up a call with us the very next day to find out about our situation and our ability to care for one of her pups. As luck would have it, we ended up with our handsome Louie very soon after we spoke with Deb. We were a bit nervous about having a new puppy so close to our loss, but he was the blast of sunshine that our family needed. Louie is energetic, smart and healthy, with a great temperament and he has the whole neighborhood suckered into playing fetch with him.
