Get to Know Your Puppy Most puppies will need to eliminate shortly after each meal. Make sure it becomes your normal routine to have a potty break outside after eating. Also, note his mannerisms when it has been more than one hour since his last outing. Until he learns to communicate his needs to you, you may find him walking towards the door, sitting near the door, whining, circling, sniffing, or squatting. Any of these actions require you to immediately pick him up and get him to his designated area. It is his castle, his safe place, and he will be spending a lot of time there. It should always have safe chew toys inside so it is a fun place and not a jail cell. If an accident occurs inside the crate, downsize to the previous location of the partition and try again a few days later to allow a slightly larger space. Keep your puppy awake until you plan to go to bed. Take him out for a bedtime potty break, then place him in the crate with a few non-squeaky toys. A Snuggle Puppy is a great option to help him feel secure. Close the door, lay down in bed, and listen to him cry and whine. You can drop your hand down to the gate and allow him to see and smell that you are close by, but do not open the crate for a minimum of three hours. For those that have family members home during the day, the puppy should spend one three-hour stretch in the crate and have more supervised interaction outside the crate than this schedule shows. Plot[ ] During the beginning of the episode, Rolly is occupied gnawing on Bob 's daily newspaper, which Bob then retrieves from him and expresses Rolly's continual chewing. Afterwards, while reading his paper he unhappily discovers that the Mona Lisa has been mysteriously stolen, which of course he is saddened by as he leaves for work. Bingo observes the picture on the newspaper as Rolly unintentionally switches the television on by chewing on the remote control. Following the two getting ready for the mission and routinely singing "Going on a Mission," while roaming the streets they just so happen to come across a group of people heading off to China, including a cantankerous elder. As Bingo and Rolly hitch a ride with the people off to the airport, poor Hissy falls onto the car as well just before its departure. Bingo and Rolly then board the plane to China while Hissy is unfortunately packed with the luggage. As the brothers search the Great Wall of China after arriving, they spot a parade of Dragon Dancers, but suddenly, Rolly runs off to chew on the rods holding up the Chinese Dragon float but Bingo is able to put a stop to this and get back on track with their mission. Once they do they notice a cart and hop into it to get a higher view and resume searching, but their weight causes the cart to uncontrollably speed down the wall. Hissy, who had been chasing after her brothers after ending up in a backpack, sees them dashing around in the cart and tries to wave to get their attention, only to be mistaken for a Maneki-Neko statue and thrown in a box being shipped to their neighbors. Meanwhile, Bingo and Rolly's cart crashes into a pile of boxes in a Chinese market and is flung into the air but luckily the two land in a box of pillows. Upon getting out, Rolly starts to eye the cane of the cranky old man, seeing it as another stick. Bingo tries to restrain his brother from running off to chew again, but finally simply accepts his brother's habit to do so. When Rolly grips onto the stick , the man irritably shakes him off, dropping his briefcase in the process. And out from the bag comes the stolen Mona Lisa, revealing the tetchy man as the thief. As he is taken away by the police, Bingo and Rolly happily admire the now recovered Mona Lisa, succeeding their mission. While on the plane back home, Bingo is now embracing Rolly's chewing tendency. As soon as the pups arrive back at home, Bob is delighted to hear that the famous painting has been rightfully recouped. Hissy has also been able to get back to the house, after the package containing her was brought in. With Bob and all his pets brought back together, he puts the Mona Lisa picture from the newspaper up onto the fridge in celebration, as Bingo and Rolly imagine what an early and enigmatic painting of the five of them might look like. He taught himself how to ring a bell to go out. My old dog, Percy, took months of direct training before he understood that ringing the bell was the signal to tell me he needed to go out to relieve himself. Buttons knew what it meant, but never used the bell after we lost Percy in the spring. Tweed showed curiosity about the bell. And, when he rings it, I take him out, and he always goes to the bathroom! He is so amazing and is very closely bonded with me and our special needs 3-year-old son.
