This is a common issue in some toy breeds, such as Yorkshire terriers, where the baby tooth remains in place, preventing the adult tooth from coming in properly, and as a result, causing an occlusion, or bite, problem. Periodontal issues can also arise when there is the crowding of baby and adult teeth, and this can lead to bad breath and the build-up of dental plaque and tartar. This will get your puppy used to having her mouth touched and make it easier for you to brush her teeth and maintain a dental care regimen. On the other hand, you may not see the teeth if your puppy swallows them while eating. No big deal. This is because his mouth hurts.
