Welcome to our website! A photo of Rocky, the best Boxer ever, and the one who started it all! We are a family owned operation that breeds champion bloodline AKC Boxer puppies. Our objective is to produce the highest quality puppies, for family pets and companions. We do not offer nor do we guarantee our puppies for show or breeding, instead we would rather they be considered by the people that adopt them as family members, preferably as children! Our love for Boxers came about after we welcomed our first Boxer Rocky into our home. He is an amazing dog, and has been the backbone of our program, providing many of the adult Boxers that we have today. Although he is no longer used for breeding, his amazing personality seems to be what everyone we encounter is looking for in a Boxer. It's no accident that we chose to keep his puppies, they have the same laid-back and relaxed personalities as Rocky. We are vigilant to assure that our puppies are the finest available, we use the best technology to closely monitor the mother and her babies for the first eight weeks. We work with and handle the puppies daily, pampering them helps to create superior emotional health. Three days after birth dew claws are removed and tails are docked by a licensed veterinarian. Vaccinations and deworming is completed utilizing a strict program, all documentation is provided. Pre-crate training begins at six weeks of age. Boxers make wonderful family pets, they are great with kids and have excellent temperaments, but they are not for everyone. They love to be a part of the family and enjoy any activity that involves interaction with people, be that hiking, jogging, agility, games that make them think, lounging, babysitting, learning try clicker training , patrol duty, stealing children's toys to get everyone to chase after them, they are prone to collect shoes into piles they seem to think this is an important job , re-arranging the laundry is a favorite past time Boxers are always very helpful!! Life with a Boxer is never dull!!! They are silly and very much a jokester. Please make sure a Boxer is for you before purchasing one as they will test your patience at times. If you are looking for a dog that is independent, a Boxer is not for you as their family is very important to them and they tend to want to follow you around all day long. Champion Sired Champion Bloodlines What is the difference? That means that the puppies sire is an actual Show Dog. It is difficult for a boxer to get their Champion title. For most it takes months and months of showing with a professional handler, traveling all across the country. It takes 15 points including 2 majors under different judges, for a dog to get an AKC Title. If you do the math, it has to be a very special dog to get their title. In order for a Boxer to get one or two points in our Region they have to beat out all the other Boxers competing that day to win those one or two points. A Boxer may have to beat out 24 other Boxer dogs in the show that day in order to get a 3 point "major win". If the sire of the litter is an AKC Champion then, hopefully more puppies in the litter will look closer to how a beautiful boxer is supposed to look. Does that mean every puppy in the litter will be 'show quality' or have potential to be a Champion? Not every puppy will get every good trait from the parents. What does Champion Bloodlines mean? Not a lot. It can mean anything, and the definition is generally left up to the breeder in question. If there isn't a Champion in the parents first few generations then the first quality show dog was probably great great grandparents so by the time you have the puppies in question, it still doesn't mean that they are anywhere near the standard of what a Boxer should look like. Puppies change so much, it is hard for anyone to look at week old puppy and say with absolute certainty that the dog will turn out for show. Many of the breeders advertising these "show potential" puppies aren't trying to lie to buyers, most don't have a clue at what they are looking at. Many have never even been to a dog show and are just repeating what the person that they purchased their dog from as a puppy told them. Everyone thinks their dog is beautiful, and could "be a winner" and that is simply not the case. That is also why in one litter we may have two puppies that some may "think" look very similarly, priced very differently. It is generally because we are seeing a physical quality about one puppy that we feel is less desirable than the other. The show expense alone is thousands of dollars. Then the health tests that are performed on each Boxer is very costly. Both sire and dam should have this done. When you ask most will say that the vet just did the shots and that is all. Or the famous line of "Well we haven't found anything wrong with any of our puppies YET. Well I guess they need to wait till something does happen. How sad for the buyer. From the American Bulldog side, potential health conditions include eye-related issues, thyroid disorders, hip dysplasia, kidney issues, bone cancer, and elbow dysplasia. Knowing more about the other parent breed can give you a better idea of what to be aware of in an American Bulldog Mix. Reputable breeders will screen their stock to avoid passing issues to puppies, so make sure you ask about the genetic and health history of both of the parent breeds. Some of the major health problems the Bulldog is susceptible to are keratoconjunctivitis sicca KCS , ventricular septal defect, canine hip dysplasia CHD , shoulder luxation, internalized tail, stenotic nares, and elongated soft palate. The Bulldog has also been known to suffer from urethral prolapse or vaginal hyperplasia occasionally. Some minor problems affecting Bulldogs include entropion, cherry eye, elbow dysplasia, patellar luxation, distichiasis, ectropion, and demodicosis. Do Bulldogs shed or cause allergies? Bulldogs do shed, but not as much as other breeds. There are breeds that produce less dander than other breeds. However, Bulldogs are not one of those breeds that produce less dander. Are Bulldogs good with children? Bulldogs are dependable and predictable. Because of this, the make a wonderful family pet and actively solicit human attention. Like any breed, you should never leave your Bulldog unattended with small children. What if I have a show dog? Whether you have a show dog or a companion quality dog, the same basic care is given regarding nutrition, socialization, and hygiene. The difference is the conditioning of the dog and conformation training. It is always quite helpful if your breeder can help mentor you to lead you in the right direction upon entering the wonderful world of dog shows. A great place to start is with the national breed club like the Bulldog of America, www. May we suggest.How often should I bathe my French Bulldog puppy and what are their grooming needs? French Bulldogs sport a short and smooth coat that should be relatively fine to the touch. You do not want to over wash your Frenchie and dry out natural skin oils. We bathe our Frenchies on an as needed basis which is generally once a month , but we regularly spot clean them with wet washcloths or wet wipes unscented and for sensitive skin. Their behinds occasional need to be wiped clean as well, as does any other breed. The bottom line is that they should be washed as needed, and if your acceptance level of what is appropriate cleanliness is different than ours, it should not be a problem. There is quite a range of latitude in bathing frequency. There are many good dog shampoos on the market and it is really just a matter of personal preference. They can be purchased at any pet store, Walmart, etc. Years ago, when we owned a Yorkie, our vet recommended using baby shampoo because Yorkies tend to frequently get goop around the eyes; and, the baby shampoo allowed us to clean the area around their eyes without irritating them. We still use baby shampoo with our Frenchies since they have lots of folds on their faces that require regular cleaning. If you decide to go with a dog shampoo, choose a mild formulated shampoo for sensitive skin; your vet may have some good recommendations. French Bulldogs are short-haired and have a single coat; so, fortunately, they do not shed as much as most breeds. Brushing their coat regularly with a rubber brush will remove any dead or loose hair — which in turn, will reduce the amount of shedding. The are prone to becoming damp and this is where infection can result. They also can collect dirt and food causing infections also. Utah has a very dry climate, so for us it is sufficient to regularly clean their folds with baby shampoo and then thoroughly dry them with a dry cloth. The frequency of maintenance varies from Frenchie to Frenchie, as well as climatic conditions. Frenchies with large, ropey wrinkling in a hot, humid environment would require the most attention; whereas, a lightly wrinkled Frenchie in a cool, dry environment would require the least. It is recommended that you clean the wrinkles out at least once a week initially and then vary your schedule based on the requirements of each Frenchie. Tear stains appear more prevalent on the lighter color Frenchies. There are many products on the market which claim to remove and or prevent tear stain removal, but the most commonly referred to method is the use of Desitin yes, the same ointment used for the treatment of baby rash. The ointment is spread along the length of the stain and after two or three weeks of application the stains should have disappeared. Care must be taken in both cases to assure that neither gets into the dogs eyes. The nose can be susceptible to drying out. The best way to remedy this is to regularly apply a smear of petroleum jelly Vaseline to the nose. This keeps the nose dark and moist. Our vet also recommended vitamin E just squeeze a little of the capsule , which we have found to work very well. Some people do not feel comfortable clipping their dogs nails and will take them to a groomer or vet. However, if you want to save time and money, it is a fairly simple task that takes only a few minutes. There are two types of of clippers: a guillotine or a scissor type. The guillotine is the easiest to use. The instructions that come with the clippers will guide you on how to use the instrument. Light claws are easier to cut than dark claws as the blood vessels and nerves that supply the toenail, called the quick, is easier to see. Cut the toenail to within approximately 2 mm of the quick. If you cut into the quick, the toenail will bleed and the dog will experience pain — nothing serious, but they might not sit too still the next time you undertake this task. When cutting dark toenails, it is better to cut just a little off at a time. Some Frenchie owners, who have dogs with dark toenails, cut them once every week or two so that they only have to cut off a little at a time, avoiding any fear of cutting into the quick. He is great with children of all ages but because of his size he we would not rehome him with young children. Smokey has not had a lot of socialisation with other dogs but has never shown aggression towards them. He will chase cats however. Smokey loves people but will still bark at the postman like any good GSD. He was actually pensioned off from the police at 18 months for being gun shy so as you would guess, his biggest fear is fireworks. This big, strong lad will need a strong owner when walking him and he would benefit from some lead work. Barney Barney is a 9 year young, entire, handsome male. Poor Barney is looking for a new home as yet another dog victim of a relationship breakdown. Barney is very fit for his age and when out walking mum could not hold him. On initial assessment with his dad, it was apparent that Barney is quite willing to socialise with other large dogs when off lead, but when called back would go deaf until he was ready. When our assessor entered his home, he acted in typical GSD fashion. She did not feel threatened in any way. Barney was initially taken into foster but it became apparent that whilst he may socialise with other dogs outside of the home, he would need to be the only dog, which appeared to be down to jealousy more than anything. Barney needs a home where he will be the only dog with experienced GSD owners who are used to large confident males. He would love space to run but most importantly a home to call his own again. Thor - Bristol Thor is a 6 year neutered male who was taken to the vets to be put to sleep because he was no longer required for stud duty! The vet contacted us for our help and neutered him for us. Thor is very friendly and obedient, and is currently on a program to increase his weight and gain condition. Not good with other male dogs and we would not rehome with young children as we do not know his full history. This lovely boy just needs a home to call his own and be given the love and security he deserves. Charlie - Bristol Charlie is about 3 years old. He came into the rescue from a pound with a large chain around his neck where his days were numbered. He is a big strong dog, and very confident. It is apparent he has had human contact but no proper guidance or leadership, in fact he has probably been spoilt and allowed to rule the roost. Despite being in kennels he has been very friendly. Charlie just needs an experienced GSD home with no children where he will be given the boundaries and guidance he needs. Sookie - Devon This cheeky face belongs to 10 month unspayed Sookie. She was bought up with young children but we would rehome with older children only as she is quite boisterous. She is good with other large dogs off lead. She did live happily with another dog for 5 months. Sookie is very energetic and exuberant, and will jump up. She lacks training and is quite strong on the lead. She needs a home where she will be taught some manners and boundaries. This poor girl urgently needs a home as her owners are moving into a flat and working long hours. Anubus - Devon Anubus is a 4 year entire male. He does not live with children but is happy to play with ones he meets. He is good with other dogs and currently lives with his brother, but not cats. Anubus will need some recall training as he can easily get distracted. He loves to play with tennis balls and chewing on bones. He does not like to be left alone for long but is happy with another dog for companionship. Being rehomed through no fault of his own, due to a change in personal circumstances his owner cannot manage both dogs anymore. Harvey - Berks Harvey is 4 years and neutered. He is good with other dogs and cats but not keen on children so would not be rehomed with them. Harvey will bark at strangers and does jump up when excited. He loves company and his walks and has only learnt to play since being in foster. Harvey would be suited to a quiet home as he can get unsettled with too much traffic but he will make his new owners a great and loyal companion in return for lots of love and attention. Charlie - East Sussex "When charlie was taken into foster care he had scratched and chewed his back, tail and legs badly due to the fact his previous owners had neglected to treated his flea infestation for months, this had led to the skin becoming infected and very sore. This is Charlie before. Charlie's Ears were so infected it was the worst the vet had seem and the poor lad was in so much pain that he just barked at anyone who went near him BUT just look at him now - Charlie 10 weeks on and he is a new man. He is currently living with other dogs in foster and likes to play with cats. Toddy is a very strong dog on the lead and will show aggression towards other dogs when on the lead. He needs an experienced and strong handler to continue socialising him with other dogs and will benefit from a lot of training as he is a quick learner. A genuine gentle giant in the home though. Southern This handsome lad is nearly 4 and neutered. He is good with children of all ages but he would be best with older children only and he is good with other dogs. He will chase cats. Southern is anxious when meeting new people and will bark at them but if introduced correctly he is fine. He will need some more training as his recall is unreliable. This lovely lad is just not getting the time and stimulation a dog of his age needs and is starting to become overprotective in the home environment. Tyson - Bristol This gorgeous face belongs to 5 year entire Tyson. He was bought from an on-line ad at the beginning of the year and has been living with a family with younger children however we would only rehome him with older children as we do not know his full history. They have not socialised him with other dogs but he is happily living with a staffie bitch. Not good with cats. He is food possessive hence why he is being rehomed and will certainly need some training as he has missed out on this for a while. Tyson just needs an experienced home to give him the guidance he needs. Molly - Bristol Molly is a spayed 6 year bitch. Molly is not getting the attention she needs due to the arrival of a new baby however she wants to be close to the baby all the time. She is good with children of all ages but due to her over protective nature would be best away from young children. She is also good with cats but displays nervousness around some dogs but is submissive. Molly will lunge at people when out walking as she has become overly protective of mum and baby. When in kennels she was fine being handled which is a positive sign that she is just guarding her family. Can you help this gorgeous girl? Ziggy - Devon Ziggy is a 3 year entire male. This gorgeous boy is great with other dogs and lives with cats. Ziggy however does have an issue with teenagers so would need a child free zone. He has never bitten. In the right hands this boy would make a wonderful addition as he is a highly intelligent dog. He loves to be outside and is a friendly, gentle dog. He has been fine with horses, sheep, other dogs and cats. Dusty is only 6 and neutered. Ruby - Bristol Ruby is a 1year old GSD x Lab cross who will need an experienced owner as she is getting a bit aggressive and that will need correcting. She has lived with another dog who turned on her so her aggression now may be just for protection. She does have the bad habit of removing food from the work surfaces which again will need to be addressed. Despite all her bad points, being so young she can be retrained to become a lovely family pet. Mia - Devon Mia is a 6 year spayed bitch. She is a friendly girl but has spent her life living outside with free run of the land. This means she has not met children or any other dogs apart from the Jack Russell she lives with. No to cats. Bella - Devon Bella is an 18 month unspayed young lady. Currently living with another older bitch but not socialised enough with dogs outside of the home. She is living with children happily but is nervous of visiting youngsters so would like a home with no children. Bella plays with cats but has had an incident with a sheep and a chicken. This lovely girl just needs an experienced home that can give her the socialisation with people and other dogs that he has missed out on and put her on the right track. Trooper - Devon This handsome young man is 6 year entire Trooper. He lives with children but can be nervous of them so would not rehome with young children. Trooper is fine with other dogs but not cats. On meeting strangers he can be wary but has never shown any aggression. On the lead he will pull at first but is fairly obedient. At present this poor lad is not getting enough exercise or stimulation and has a lot of pent up energy. Being rehomed through no fault of his own. Sheera - Devon Sheera, at 6 years, is a very gentle and affectionate girl with persons of all ages. She is not spayed and at the moment is in foster living with two other GSD crosses. After some initial pecking order disputes, she now plays and lives alongside them very happily. She travels very well in the car and is good on the lead. If she is let off the lead her recall is also good. In fact, she is good in every way except that she has a dislike of other dogs mainly little ones but this has been manageable because she is an obedient girl and not too strong to handle. She would need an owner to continue with her socialisation training when meeting other dogs. She has the usual "chase instinct" of cats. Her sweet and gentle nature in every other way is her overall redeeming characteristic. Blue - Bristol Blue is an 8 year old neutered male. Blue seems to have spent much of his life on his own and is quite aloof to people and other dogs. For this reason we would not rehome him with young children. He has never been off lead or allowed to play with other dogs. Very good on the lead but is overweight at present. Blue needs a home where he can learn to trust people and learn how to interact them. He can be slightly aloof but is a very confident dog. He will be very loyal to his handler but will become protective of them and his territory. Wendle is alert but quiet. He is fit and healthy. He is not keen on other dogs. This boy will need an experienced and understanding handler. Trevor - Bristol Trevor is a gorgeous black and tan 4 year old neutered boy. Poor Trevor has been from pillar to post. He was rehomed to his last family after his previous owners split up. He had lived with small children and was OK around livestock as they lived on a farm. Unfortunately the people who took him in, did not trust him off lead or around people so kept him muzzled and on the lead at all times. Trevor fed off their worried behaviour and started showing signs of nervous aggression. This poor boy has since been in kennels where he has been terrified of letting anyone near him, however thanks to a special volunteer, Trevor has learned to trust people again and does not show any aggression when outside of his kennel. Trevor is a big strong dog that would need a confident, experienced, and patient GSD owner to help him rebuild his confidence and re-socialise him with people and other dogs. Good behaviour should be rewarded so that your puppy learns that he did something good. Rewarding good behaviour with affection and praise is great, you can also use treats, or toys, sometimes the best reward for your puppy is just spending time with them. Be Patient and Consistent Owning a puppy requires a lot of patience! It is so easy to lose your patience at times, but you need to know that your puppy is learning what is right and wrong, and that takes time. It might not happen overnight, but as long as you remain consistent and patient, your pup will learn good behaviour. If your puppy is nipping at your pant legs or sleeves, chances are he is loving the tugging feeling and is actually already playing tug-of-war. Instead of using your clothing, redirect his attention to a rope toy. One thing to be careful of is being too rough with tug-of-war, especially when your puppy is going through his teething phase. A game of fetch offers your pup a distraction from biting, and Golden Retriever puppies naturally love to retrieve things. But I want to reassure you that even at 8 weeks old, your puppy has learned to moderate his bite in play. Puppies have powerful jaws designed to tear through flesh and crush bones. Those of you who feed your puppy a raw diet will know that even an 8 week old puppy from a medium sized breed can crush bones the size of your little finger. He is deliberately attempting to be gentle. Puppy Biting — Bite inhibition This ability, that your puppy has, to moderate the power of his jaws in play, is called bite inhibition. It is something that his mother started to teach him when he was just a few weeks old. And now it is your turn to take over and complete the training process. Growling and Puppy biting One thing that often worries people who have a new puppy in the family, is the growling that accompanies puppy biting. It sounds horrific. Great snarls and snaps accompany the biting and the puppy can appear quite demonic as he grabs onto your skin, or clothes. Tugging away with all the strength he can muster. Ninety nine times out of a hundred this is completely normal play biting. Is my puppy biting aggressive? You cannot determine whether or not a puppy is biting aggressively by how hard he bites or by the volume of the noise he makes. Play biting puppies bite hard and growl fiercely. Some puppies do occasionally draw blood. But these are not normally savage or crushing bites and the puppy is clearly enjoying himself. Fierce but fun! The play biting puppy will launch himself at the target of his bite. Whether it is your slippers or your fingers, with equal tail-wagging enthusiasm, hanging on grimly and grabbing repeatedly when the item is removed from him. All this, shocking though it may seem, is normal, and is not a sign that your puppy is going to be an aggressive dog! In fact some of the gentlest and most amiable breeds the labrador for example are the worst and fiercest play biters. The puppy that is a cause for concern is the puppy that is frightened. Because although puppies rarely bite through aggression, the nervous puppy may become aggressive as he matures Is my puppy afraid? A scared puppy may bite and scared puppies can grow into scared adult dogs so this is something you need to address quickly. You will know that your puppy is scared because he will try to avoid whatever it is he is scared of. A really frightened puppy will sometimes give off a distinctive musky smell. This hiding, and retreating, and the scared smell are warning signs that you have scared your puppy badly, or purchased a poorly socialised puppy. In this situation you need to get specialist help right away. Your vet should be able to advise you. For the vast majority of puppy owners then, biting is normal puppy behavior. Will my puppy biting stop naturally? To some extent biting is a phase caused by natural puppy playfulness and teething. Some puppies do stop biting with very little input from their family. Which is great. You may feel he should have grown out of it by now. We can physically prevent puppies from biting and we can train puppies not to bite. Both of these are good strategies. Or when children are getting upset, or visitors are winding your puppy up. Prevention usually involves interrupting the biting behavior, then redirecting the puppy into an alternative and more acceptable behavior, such as chewing on a toy. Or, it may involve temporarily separating him from his playmates. Interrupting the puppy biting In mild cases you may simply be able to put a toy in your biting puppy's mouth and get him tugging on that instead of on your fingers. If you are on the floor with the puppy stand up. And if you are standing up, turn and walk away from the puppy. This is where dog gates come in very handy with small puppies. A standard baby gate works fine for most breeds of dog. Managing the puppy You may have to pick up your biting puppy to remove him from the scene if he is biting your children for example, rather than you If he bites your hands and clothes as you try to restrain him, put him on the other side of a barrier or in his crate or puppy playpen for a short while. Although the puppy does learn from them, these are useful management techniques to enable you to control the situation. They help you to keep your puppy calm, and prevent the biting escalating through over excitement. Over-excited puppies Puppy play biting is directly linked to excitement. The more excited your puppy gets, the more and the harder he will bite. And the harder it will be to interrupt and distract him. Rough play excites puppies and noisy play does too. Children tend to squeal when they play and get very physical with puppies. One of the first rules they need to learn when playing with dogs, especially big dogs, is to stand up and stand still when the game gets too much. Limit such play and call a halt to it if your puppy is biting. With medium to large breed dogs, physical rough and tumble play is not a great idea. It can lead to dogs bowling people over or humping them, neither of which is very pleasant. Stopping play when it gets rough is a good management strategy and it is a form of training too. Over time, your puppy learns that biting and rough play loses him his playmates and that people simply leave if he is being mean. When do puppies stop biting? Many puppies have stopped biting completely by six months of age and biting is usually subsiding by the time that the puppy is heading towards five months old. This is if the puppy has been managed appropriately If people have been exciting him, or rewarding him for attention seeking behavior then biting can persist And it can be much more of a problem in bigger stronger puppies than in little ones. Training Puppies Not To Bite The idea of this exercise is to teach a puppy to accept being stroked and handled in any way, without touching us with his teeth. The event marker is a distinctive sound. Even around his mouth, without him making any attempt to bite you. You can also make it easier for him by starting this training when he is calm and not distracted. But for now, keep things simple. It can be a good way of getting the training started so that you have chance to say YES and give the puppy the opportunity to learn what you want him to do. Over the next few sessions, you can work on getting your hand closer and closer to the puppy. Until you are brushing the sides of his face without him making any attempt to mouth or bite at you Progress to touching and holding his collar, stroking his ears, grooming him, examining his paws and so on, all the time rewarding him for the correct behavior. Anytime the mouthing returns, back up to a point where he can succeed and move forward more slowly again Bite Inhibition Training Some experts feel that puppies should be allowed to mouth and even bite gently for a week or two before being prevented from biting altogether. Simply follow the instructions for managing your puppy above when he bites hard. But allow him to mouth you when he bites gently without much pressure. This is a great way to teach a dog excellent control over his mouth. After a couple of weeks of this, you can progress to the training exercise I outlined in the previous section. Older puppies that bite in play have often learned that this gets them a lot of attention. They have discovered that people squeal and shout and get quite cross. Sometimes these people push and shove the dog around which young dogs quite enjoy when they are playing. For these dogs it is important that you stop all physical play, with all family members If a puppy is biting hard at your hands when you try to interrupt his game. Or an older puppy is getting out of hand biting at clothing, you need to put your puppy on a harness and house-line a short trailing leash. This will enable you to control your puppy, and take him to a calming place, without handling him. You can just pick up the end of the line and lead him away. Older biting puppies are often bright and bored. And the best approach to avoiding future episodes of bad behavior is a structured programme of training and interesting activities.
