She was very professional and included the kids into the session. We noticed a huge difference in our 1 year old Siberian husky max with door control, lead control and lots more. With Marley our 10 week old Siberian husky, we started teaching her to use a lead and walk. She also learnt recall and taught how to tell her off properly. He has stranger anxiety and barks to demand attention from his humans. When he knows you he jumps up on you. If he doesn't know you he cowers away in apprehension and fear. He really needs guidance from his humans to feel secure. At our first lesson he responded really well and his humans told me that when guests came that evening they were able to prevent his jumping up and drop his demanding barking. Well done already! Peter walked in and immediately had all of the dog's calm no aggression within a minute even my male pom Geordie who is extremely aggressive with strangers stopped barking and growling we were speechless it's the only time in 5 years that this has happened. Rex was mouthing and play biting me quite badly he has completely stopped since Peter's visit. Peter came into our lives and taught us how to communicate with our fur babies the dog's now interact with each other in a calm relaxed way and are not aggressive towards Rex he is very respectful of their size all 4 now obey immediately it's magic. Peter also advised us to consider a change to their diet and feeding routine to help me with the aggression around meal times this has worked wonders and 2 of the dog's who were over weight have now started to slim down and are more active and healthy. As a puppy, Cooper would tend to get over-excited and clobber her buddies canine and human. While she has always been "friendly," we worried that she wasn't able to read social cues from other dogs and exhibit enough inhibition to keep her from being a pest. Having weekly practice with dogs while under knowledgeable supervision has been fabulous for us. The trainers at DANW are able to step in and guide Coop so that play stays fun for everyone and she is increasingly able to self-regulate and play or just co-exist happily with a variety of dogs. It's so nice to know that our pup is getting the practice and training she needs in an environment that isn't full of too many dogs and extra noises that might make it harder for her to calm herself, as might be the case in a crowded daycare. We booked a test run weekend ahead of our 10 day vacation to help Wally adjust to her home and time away. During the test run, Jessica sent us so many photos and texts of our sweet smiling pup that we could actually enjoy our weekend in Bend. Our dog is a one year old Golden Retriever that is full of energy. He goes on a weekly adventure with Mindy, and comes home a very happy and sleepy boy! She always works with him on the adventure no jumping, recall, etc. It is great socialization for our young boy. We also had our dog adventure board with Mindy and her family. When he shows up at the door, our dogs are ecstatic.When we go on trips, he stays in regular communication with us and gives us regular updates and sends tons of pics. He even spoils them with fun adventures to the dog park. We know our dogs are in good hands. Recently, Samuel has done a couple of pet sitting stays for us and we were extremely impressed. He took our dogs on 3 walks a day, each, and encouraged good behaviors such as impulse control when encountering other dogs. Our dog was very hesitant about leaving the house and getting into someone else's car. Here's why: We have one very friendly dog, and one super-fearful-of-strangers dog who barks at pretty much any person who's not in the family. While planning a ski trip weekend, we decided to go with an in-home sitter, figuring a familiar setting would give him a better chance at success. We had our sitter, Phillip, meet Cider the scaredy pup prior to our weekend away twice. Cider was fearful and barking the first time, but relaxed a little bit the second time and Phillip was wonderful. He figured he would be able to make things work, and he was right. By the third day of his stay with Cider and Posey, Cider had stopped barking at Phillip, and would cuddle near him on the couch. Our dog is a very challenging assignment, and Phillip handled him brilliantly. We will definitely be using DANW in the future and already have an appointment set with a trainer to work with Cider on reducing his fear. She squirms with delight when Clara comes to pick her up, and her recall is getting better each week. She comes home a very tired and happy pup! Dingo also has a back-up trainer he sees at Thursday adventures, so if Jamie isn't available, Dingo still knows the person who will be caring for him. Dingo can't wait to see them - he watches for Jamie coming up the walk even on non-hiking days. He runs to the door to greet them so they can have a quick snuggle and jump in the car so he can see his friends. They communicate and share pictures often, which is great especially when we are away. We can't say enough great things about Jamie and Dog Adventures Northwest. We highly recommend them and can't imagine not having them in our lives. We have been using them since we moved to Portland a couple months ago. Jamie has been hiking our buddy Dingo once a week and he always comes back worn out and happy. A typical red will love lying in our laps and winding around our legs like cats for affection or attention. They are a very "soft" natured dog and respond well to "positive" training. If you are harsh with them or they sense they are disappointing you they will mentally just shut down and pout. They also want to be everywhere with you including the bathroom. You will always hear the pitter patter of a red standards feet as they will be your shadow. They love working for praise and or a laugh. Once they know a trick, they will produce it with amazing precision with eager eyes waiting, begging for your praise and you better be lavish with it if you want to see them happy. Rose pups I would describe our reds as being the most empathetic of all the colours. It is as if they can read you and decide if you are happy in which case they may be silly to get a laugh or they know that you are sad and will be calm and quiet and just rest their head on your lap waiting for you to invite them up on the couch to watch a movie with you. I do find that the reds are more "dedicated" to their owners. Valor and Ember Do not leave your red standard poodle at the window while you go to get a Tim Horton's coffee or you will be met with the back of your red standard poodle and hear sighs of "woe" until you are forgiven. Thankfully reds like all poodles, forgive quickly. I will warn anyone that is thinking about getting a red Standard and plans on walking them, that you will not get past a block without someone stopping you to see your puppy. Everyone will want to know what breed it is and you will hear people exclaim "I didn't know poodles came that colour or that size". We have almost caused accidents by people slamming on their brakes to stop to look at us. One thing is for sure is that if you go walking with your red you will make many friends Paris waiting for her owner to finish in the bathroom, after she tried unsuccessfully to get in This color Red is NOT for everyone. If you are not used to having a dog constantly at your feet or on your lap, constantly touching you, or wanting to be in the same room as you then you might find a red to be too "needy". If you have plans on doing Pet Therapy with a Red they are perfect for this as they are so gentle and caring, but please -limit- the time you offer your Red to the service, as they can become easily drained from them absorbing others emotional and sometimes physical pain. They do love obedience and showing, of course as how better for them to show everyone how smart and pretty they are! During that time, I broke both my feet and also required both of my hips to be replaced.
