We come from many walks of life, and have agreed to donate our many and varied talents so that pugs everywhere can live out their lives with comfort, love and care. We are all volunteers, with no paid employees. Each person serves in the way best suited to their lifestyle and individual skills. We are proud of the way we have built this organization. We have determined that our common welfare and the welfare of the pug breed must come first. Our leaders are but trusted servants, in that they do not govern. There is no power structure, just a service structure. The only requirement for membership is a desire to help homeless pugs and promote education about the breed and the need for domestic animal population control. We allow, and strongly encourage participation in other groups, rescues, and shelters, as it is the best way to strengthen the rescue effort and make sure that our motto is upheld: "Let no pug go unloved. We give rescued pugs veterinary care, a nurturing foster environment, and permanent placement into a loving home. In addition, we offer education to the public on the special responsibilities of pug ownership and the need for domestic animal population control. Make a donation today! Where my puppy illustrations come in is the advertising of said events to benefit said puppies! Cut them out and paste them onto the plain gift bag, which you can find at any dollar store in the gifting section. Glue the tabs onto the toilet paper roll held horizontally , two in front and two in back. Then glue on the tail and the neck and head. Print that out onto cardstock, color it in, and cut it out just the face. Findable Rocks To make findable rocks, you will need a handful of smooth-topped rocks of various sizes and Mod Podge. You can select, copy and paste them all onto one document and print. Color them in and cut them out, then Mod Podge them to the tops of the rocks. Let the Mod Podge dry overnight and place the rocks on trails, at the park, outside of the grocery store, etc. Bookmarks My puppy pictures would make adorable bookmarks for both adults and kids. Cut them out and paste them onto a rectangular piece of construction paper or cardstock, roughly three or four inches by eight or 10 inches. Paper Dolls My puppy pics are so cute, they can and should be played with as paper dolls! Print the puppies you want to use onto cardstock, color them in and cut them out. You can use them as-is, or, for added convenience or for younger hands , you could glue a crafting stick to the back to make more of a puppet. Puppy Headbands You can turn your little cutie into a barking, playful puppy with just a few steps. Print that off, have your kid color it in, and cut it out. Wall Art My puppy illustrations are so cute, they belong on the walls of your home. Color them in, frame them you can find inexpensive frames at Walmart or the dollar store , and hang them up in an artful arrangement. You could also cut a few down to different sizes to add interest and variety to your gallery wall. Cut out the puppy and punch a hole where you want it to hang. Bake per the instructions and then let cool completely. You can add things to the ornament — like a little ribbon bow, hot glued on — and string some ribbon or cording through the hole to hang the ornament with. What could be better than dogs? Even non-dog-lovers would find it hard to say no to a sweet and adorable puppy. Puppies have tons of energy and love to play. They might chew up your shoes or pee on the rug, but puppy owners love their furry friends anyway. And with time these puppies learn how to be the best dogs around. There are so many puppies of all different shapes and sizes. The popularity of puppies has translated into a high demand from our readers for printable puppy coloring pages that you can enjoy for free. Finally here are 30 brand new and completely free puppy coloring pages that you can color any way you want. Have fun and use your imagination! This little one is so fluffy and furry, and it just makes it all the more huggable. There are a few different breeds that this dog could be, and that means that you could use all sorts of different colors for this one. What other techniques could you use in order to finish off this page? Next up, we have another impossibly cute puppy for you to color. This one is also fluffy, and it has such a gentle look to it. The puppy is also wearing a collar, and that just gives you an extra detail to add some color to! If you want to add very subtle detail, you could write what you would name this puppy in small letters on the collar. This is also another case where we think that smaller strokes of the medium you choose would be great for making the puppy look nice and fluffy. Puppies come in all different shapes and sizes and have unique patterns on their coats. The little guy in this puppy coloring page has big patches all down his back and little patches of color on his head and ear. Every dog loves a bone, and this puppy has found one that is far too big for her. She will probably run away if anyone tries to take her bone from her. If you saw this next puppy in real life, we think it would be impossible to resist giving it a big hug. This little one seems to be based on a poodle, and it is so fluffy! If you decide to stick to the colors, we would use some lighter shades of colors like yellows and maybe some tan browns. What colors come to mind for you? Next up in our collection of free puppy coloring pages for kids, we have another cutie. This one looks like it could be a baby alsatian or maybe even a husky! The design has been left just vague enough that you can decide what kind of breed you think it is. If you have a favorite kind of puppy and it looks a bit like this design, then be sure to use those colors to finish off the design! Which puppy breed would you choose to make this? Puppies have a lot to learn when it comes to training. The puppy in this printable sheet seems to be a little confused by some command his owner has given. He cocks his head and big floppy ears to one side as he listens. One tooth pokes out of his mouth. This puppy looks adorable with her tongue sticking out of her mouth, ready to give puppy kisses. She has a fluffy patch of fur on her chest and a very short tail that wags excitedly. She really has stolen our hearts. For such a playful little pup, we think it would be fun to draw some extra details and objects that it could interact with. For example, you could draw some chew toys or maybe something like a ball. There are so many fun objects and details you could add! What kinds of toys would you like to give to this adorable little puppy? This little puppy has such expressive eyes, and it gives it such a sweet and friendly look. We think that for this one you should use all of your favorite colors that make you happy as you color this little one. Once you have colored it in, you could also color in the background or maybe draw a little background scene! Where do you think this puppy could be spending its day? Is it a special little patch, or has he been sniffing through the woods or left the remains of a snack on his nose? He certainly seems like an adventurous puppy with very bright and curious eyes. This puppy coloring sheet might be a picture of a Dalmatian. They are known for their unique white coats with spots all over them. This puppy might look small, but Dalmations grow up to be pretty big and powerful dogs. Next up, we have a puppy coloring printable that features a cute little cartoon puppy. Many of the pages so far in the collection have been a bit more realistic and detailed, but this one has a really stylistic and whimsical design. Because of that, we would probably use much brighter, flatter colors when filling this page. Using mediums such as colored pens, markers or acrylic paints would work perfectly, but there are so many others you could use instead. When you saw this page, did any favorite colors or mediums come to mind? This little puppy is definitely having a great day, as he has found a lovely bone to chew on! Dogs are rarely as content as they are when chewing on a bone, so this one is probably having a marvelous day because of its lucky find. There are also some great details on this little pooch, and you can work in some subtle color details using your art tools. The surrounding grass also gives you the chance to add some lovely bright greens, and you could add even more background details and elements! What details would you add to the background? Puppies pant to cool themselves off after playing or going for a walk. It looks like this panting pup is having a great time playing. Maybe he has found some other puppy friends. Pugs are charming and mischievous dogs. They sometimes have patterns around their face that look like a mask, like in this puppy coloring sheet. The background has been left fairly blank here, so this would be another great one to draw a background scene for. Maybe you could also draw a bowl of food or some doggy treats that it can dig into! There are so many ways to bring this charming scene to life. The cutie featured on this puppy coloring page is holding a tennis ball and is ready to play! It makes for a really cute scene, but there are other details to admire as well. There are some pattern details on the puppy, but there is also a pretty flower tucked behind the ear. These details let you add even more color to the image, and you can get really creative with how you go about it. This pug is so compact that it is sitting up straight like a person would. It turns to the side as if it heard or smelled something. Maybe it is time for the pug to eat! These puppy coloring pages are as cute as can be , especially this bulldog! He has adorable wrinkles and a smushed-in face that is a distinctive marker of this breed. He looks like something has startled him. Chihuahuas are one of the smallest dog breeds around, and they are even smaller when they are puppies. This dog might be a puppy, but his fur pattern makes him look like he has a little beard and mustache. Remember that all these puppy coloring pages are completely free to print , so feel free to print and color as many as you want. Corgis are another dog breed we love. They have big ears, short legs, and stumpy tails. This puppy looks like he is doing yoga in the upward dog position. Puppies need to stretch and unwind just like people do. What is your favorite breed of puppies? Hearts seem to be a theme in these puppy coloring pages. This pup looks like she has a heart-shaped toy that she is carrying with her. She looks like she is waiting for someone to throw the toy and play with her. Puppies have played a big part in the media. This puppy printable reminds us of Lady from Lady and the Tramp when she was only a puppy. Her fluffy ears are a classic staple of the Cocker Spaniel dog breed. Pomeranians are extremely fluffy dogs. You can see in this free printable how much hair this puppy has. His face, tail, and body all look like little puffballs. He is so furry that you can barely see his ears poking out of his fur. Puppies definitely get into lots of trouble, and the Chihuahua in this coloring sheet has a mischievous look on her face. She seems to be batting her long eyelashes to ask for a treat or to go for a walk. His fur makes him look like he has his eyebrows raised in surprise and his panting tongue makes him seem even more energetic. What a silly pup! Remember — when you finish your puppy coloring pages , post your finished pictures onto our Facebook page. Every month we pick the best uploads and the winner gets a special prize. Good luck! Sometimes Bulldogs have underbites, like in this puppy printable sheet. The little teeth poking out of his bottom jaw make him even more adorable, along with his tiny folded ears and chunky wrinkled body. Yorkshire Terriers are tiny dogs with big personalities that make great companions. This little pup has pointy ears and looks ready and excited to accompany you on any journey she can. Who could say no to that face? She has an extra fluffy patch of fur on her chest and a tiny patch on the top of her head. His big ears are perked up at attention and the fur on his cheeks pokes out in a triangle shape. His eyes are open wide with excitement and he pants with his tongue out ready to chase down a ball or go for a run. This puppy coloring page features a puppy who is especially shaggy. His fur looks like it is getting close to covering his eyes! He has a big button nose and he tilts his head to one side to show that he is listening intently to what you are saying. Huskies are some of the strongest dogs around. They are muscular with thick fur coats because they were bred to pull heavy sleds through the cold. Perhaps the puppy in this coloring page is training to be a sled dog herself one day. The puppy in this kids coloring page is listening intently with his head tilted to one side. While puppies cannot understand English, they are very sensitive to the tone and volume of the words you say. They can also hear things four times further away than humans can. We love this puppy coloring sheet of a pup that looks a lot like a teddy bear. She has a shaggy coat and little floppy ears that make her especially adorable. Some puppy breeds that have this distinctive teddy bear look are Poodles and Golden Doodles. This puppy looks like she is out for a walk or maybe even playing in a dog park. We love the unique patch she has around one of her eyes. Did you know that looking at pictures of puppies is good for you? Should a French Bulldog Mix take after their Frenchie parent, they will be a small companion breed that bonds closely with their families. They tend to have an energetic, playful personality and love nothing more than being with their favorite humans. French Bulldogs tend to be friendly, playful, and affectionate dogs that get along with just about everyone. They tend to get along with children, other dogs, and other pets. They will even warm up quickly to strangers as long as they have been properly socialized. If the other parent breed has a similar temperament, then you should be able to expect the same from a French Bulldog Mix. You can also meet the mother in person to see what her temperament is like and the behavior she is modeling for the puppies. The breeder should have started some training and socialization, but it is up to you to continue to train and socialize a puppy once you get them home. Frenchies are highly adaptable dogs. They do well in apartments as well as larger homes. However, as a brachycephalic breed, they are extra sensitive to heat and also sensitive to the cold. They also do not like being left alone for long periods of time. If the other parent breed is similar, then you can expect a Frenchie Mix to also be a highly adaptable dog. The other parent will introduce their own traits and some potential quirks, so you do want to ask the breeder about them. They could inherit none of the conditions common to their parent breeds, or they could inherit some or all of them. They can also be prone to allergies, have sensitive skin, and also a sensitive stomach. Good breeding practices will make a huge difference. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing issues to puppies. So, make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of both of the parents. Although French Bulldogs can sometimes be stubborn, they are eager to please and tend to be easy to train. As long as training is consistent and focused on positive praise and reward, they can be a good fit for owners of all experience levels. If the other parent breed is also easy to train, then you can expect a French Bulldog Mix to be highly trainable as well. Regardless of owner experience, there are many benefits of puppy training classes. A mixed-breed dog can inherit a coat similar to one of their parents or a coat that is a mix of both. You will also need to clean their facial wrinkles. Weekly ear checks with cleanings as needed can help prevent ear infections. As a small dog breed, a Frenchie Mix is more prone to developing dental diseases later in life. This makes good, consistent dental care for dogs even more important for them. Daily brushing with a dog-friendly toothpaste or using an enzyme toothpaste paired with cleanings at the vet when needed is ideal. Frenchies are known couch potato dogs that are happy to lay back, relax, and cuddle with you. Daily walks plus some playtime are usually enough for this affectionate little dog. Even though they like to relax, they also like to play and will be energetic when they do. They can also be athletic and compete in dog sports. As a brachycephalic breed, you do need to be careful of overexertion and overheating. But, there are plenty of ways to safely exercise flat-faced dogs to make sure your French Bulldog Mix gets enough exercise. If the other parent breed is also a low-energy breed, then you can expect something similar from a Frenchie Mix. If the other parent breed requires more activity, then you will need to be prepared for the potential of a higher energy dog. Fully-grown Frenchies usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. The other parent breed can have a big effect on this, especially if they are the mother, so make sure you ask the breeder about them. This can give you some idea of what size to expect in a fully-grown French Bulldog Mix. French Bulldogs generally live for years. Although the other parent breed may affect this slightly, you should be able to expect a similar average life span in a French Bulldog Mix. Featured French Bulldog Mix Article. They were extremely professional, the process of getting our new puppy was smooth, no hiccups, they were informative every step of the way, they kept us in the loop with our new puppy during the time with them through pictures, videos, live online meets. We felt well prepared and equipped with all their advice, recommendations and experience. But most of all knowing that our new pup was coming from such a loving, caring, family home , made our family comfortable and confident with the decision we made. Our first vet visit we were told she was perfect! Immaculate health, just the right weight, beautiful coat, and right on track. I highly recommend First Coast Goldendoodles if you're looking for a new puppy addition to your home! They have been amazing from the very beginning. There are so many scams out there so I was very skeptical. First Coast Goldendoodles answered my zillions of questions. They are always posting on their Facebook page with updates of the puppies. I would definitely recommend them and I am already thinking about getting my new puppy a playmate from them. This family-owned breeder is top notch, as are the puppies!!! Kobe made a flawless transition into our home, already crate trained and great with the kids!!! From the moment I met them I knew they were the right breeders for us. They are responsive, helpful, and were a pure joy to work with. They send pictures and videos of your babies and keep you updated until you get your pup. While they are with them they socialize them, desensitize them to certain sounds, work on potty training and crate training and give them so much love! They care so much about their babies, after you pick them up they even check in to make sure the transition is going smoothly and that your babe is doing well. They set you and your puppy up for success. All of the pups are adorable but also so smart. We have had ours for one week and he has already learned many commands and tricks. They take the time to make sure the dogs are healthy and ready to go home to their new families. Thank you guys so much for your amazing service and continuing to follow up with us to see how our little puppet is doing. Unfortunately my daughter lost her battle with cancer but we still have our beautiful Nevaeh to live on is a constant reminder of how sweet our baby girl was. I knew from my first interaction with Chrissy that this was the type of breeder I wanted to get a puppy from. They are very supportive. They have a Facebook page for families waiting for their puppy and then also one for after you get your puppy. This really made the waiting more fun as you looked forward to updates on your litter. We adore our little black goldendoodle, Paisley. She made the transition to her new home easily and was very good about going in the crate. I love knowing that these puppies spend their first eight weeks in a loving home where they get lots of attention, training, and care. We live in the southwest Florida area, and they met us in Orlando. They are worth making the drive for. I highly recommend this top notch breeder. So we usually have a good selection of very high quality puppies. View Our Available Puppies! Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments. You may want to consider Healthy Paws. Healthy Paws offers some of the same essential features as Embrace and Trupanion, but is regularly quoted as having some of the lowest premiums in the industry for the number of benefits it provides. The following are some of the advantages of taking out a Healthy Paws policy for your dog: High customer satisfaction — Healthy Paws is consistently rated at the top of the industry in terms of user experience. Its mobile app has consistently been lauded for its ease of functionality, making them an attractive option for tech-savvy customers. One plan — Like Embrace and Trupanion, Healthy Paws markets one comprehensive plan and does not require customers to add coverage to a limited base plan. However, it differs in that it does not offer the purchase of optional wellness plans or additional riders. Unlimited coverage — There are no per-incident, annual, or lifetime maximums with a Healthy Paws plan. However, they are clear that they will cover only new issues with your Golden Retriever, which means that any pre-existing conditions will not receive coverage. Any vet — You are eligible to receive reimbursement from Healthy Paws when your dog receives treatment from any licensed vet. This differs from those plans that may require policyholders to use in-network vets in order to receive benefits. Rapid claim payouts — There are no time-consuming insurance forms to fill out when using Healthy Paws. All the policyholders must do to receive reimbursement for care is take a picture of the vet bill and submit it via the Healthy Paws mobile app. This allows Healthy Paws to start processing claims immediately usually within two days. Annual deductible — Like Embrace, Healthy Paws uses an annual deductible and not a per-incident deductible, meaning that any number of conditions are covered after the deductible has been met. This is an attractive option for Golden Retrievers, which have been known to require care for multiple issues. Clearly, there are some advantages to choosing an insurance plan for your Golden Retriever through Healthy Paws, especially if you are philanthropically minded and prefer handling business on your mobile device. However, when compared to our top choice, Embrace, Healthy Paws has some significant drawbacks that need to be specified: Not great for older pets — Pet insurance is no different from human insurance in that premiums get higher the older we get. However, if you enroll your dog after the age of six, you will have a limited deductible and reimbursement rates, meaning that the cost savings on premiums are likely to evaporate. With a month waiting period to get treated for this common condition, your Golden Retriever may go through a lot of suffering to save you some money on premiums. Extensive medical background checks — Healthy Paws is specific in that it will only cover new medical conditions. As such, it requires a complete medical history check of every pet wishing to enroll in a policy. This is much more stringent than Embrace, which only requires medical records dating back 12 months. Also, the 12 month wait on hip dysplasia is very long. It is best if you do decide to go with Healthy Paws, that your Golden Retriever be less than six years of age. They launched their very own pet insurance in .Their plans are customizable and cover accidents, illnesses, hereditary conditions, behavioral issues, and even dental diseases. The coverage includes diagnostics, treatment, and exam fees related to the covered conditions within the plan and will even encompass acupuncture and stem cell therapy. They offer a Complete Coverage plan and an Accident Only plan with preventive care add-ons at additional cost. They even offer a day money-back guarantee if you were to change your mind. There is not a separate limitation for eligible hereditary or congenital conditions and reimbursement percentages offered are 70, 80, and 90 percent. There is a day waiting period for accidents and illness and you can enroll beginning at 8 weeks with no age limit for enrollment. Claims can be submitted online, on the app, by email, mail, or fax and they can reimburse via direct deposit to reduce payment turnaround time. Pros Coverage for exam fees for eligible accidents and illnesses Offers a day money-back guarantee Coverage for behavioral issues and dental disease No separate limitation for eligible hereditary or congenital conditions Cons Lower maximum annual limit option Long wait times for customer service support 5. They offer coverage for both dogs and cats and put a lot of focus on technology throughout their business. There are three different plan levels with the least expensive option covering accidents and illnesses, prescriptions, hip dysplasia, alternative treatments, prosthetics, mobility devices, and behavioral concerns. They do not exclude congenital or hereditary conditions. Figo does not have any breed restrictions and offers plans for dogs 8 weeks of age or older with no upper age limit for enrollment. The waiting period is one day for accidents or injuries and 14 days for illnesses. The company offers a mobile app for claims processing and management of the policy. They even offer customer support via phone, email, fax, and text message. Pros Up to percent reimbursement rate offered Add ons available at an additional price Three different plan levels. Depending on where you live, what deductible, and the reimbursement percentage you choose, you may spend more or less. NOTE: The quotes we ran were for dogs with no pre-existing conditions. Golden Retriever dog insurance is worth it. Suppose your dog catches a serious disease or gets hurt in an accident that could end up costing thousands of dollars at the vet. Not fully convinced is worth it? Here are 3 main reasons why you should consider getting pet insurance for your Golden Retriever. So, how does that translate to Golden Retriever numbers? There are roughly 90 million dogs in the U. So, at least 1 in every 3 Golden Retriever dog parents will be seeking emergency veterinary help this year for their dogs. This could lead to huge vet bills. Take a look at the stats below. You may change your mind! Subvalvular aortic stenosis SAS is one of the most common heart conditions in large breed dogs that can result in fainting, a shortened life span, or sudden death. Golden Retrievers are among large breed dogs diagnosed with SAS more often than other dog breeds, suggesting a genetic etiology for this disease. According to a study published this year, the prevalence of this disease was reported at 4. Hip Dysplasia is another common health condition found in Golden Retrievers. This is a deformity of the hip that happens during growth. It is the most common joint problem in large dogs. It is more common in some breeds, including Golden Retrievers. A survey conducted by the Golden Retriever Club of America shows that approximately 1 in 4 Golden Retrievers develop hypothyroidism throughout their lives. This is almost twice the rate of cancer in dogs of all breeds. These are some of the most common health problems Golden Retriever dogs are prone to develop. This applies during the first six months of your coverage. However, by submitting a vet report showing that your pet has healthy knees, this period can be reduced to 30 days. The company also requires your pet to be examined by a vet within 60 days before the beginning of the policy. Other conditions not covered include: Pre-existing conditions Costs associated with pregnancy , breeding, or nursing Preventing care costs Wellness costs Elective procedures Illnesses or injuries caused by fighting, racing, commercial guarding, or any other activity tied to professional, business, or occupational use Price The premiums that you pay for your pet will depend on the breed, type, age, and area of residence. The coverage from Petplan has a waiting period of 15 days, which is one of the longest in the industry Age Limit Fetch has an upper age limit, which varies from breed to breed. However, all dogs aged six years or higher that enroll for their policy must undergo a vet exam before or within 30 days after commencement of the policy. For pets younger than that, any exam they have undergone within the past 12 months will suffice. Also, note that the company will not reimburse you if your dog succumbs to an illness while aged six years or older. Policy Options Petplan has generous coverage for illness and accidents, which compensates well for its lack of an accident-only coverage or a wellness plan. It has one of the most comprehensive illness and accident policies, making it a good choice for golden retriever owners. It is the coverage to go with if you are looking for a policy that goes beyond pet illness and accidents. Several factors determine golden retriever pet insurance cost. These include the health insurance company you choose, the type of policy, age of your dog, deductibles, and any pre-existing medical conditions. For instance, lower deductibles can bring down your premiums considerably. However, you will be required to pay this figure upfront before the insurance kicks in. You may also choose higher premiums and avoid paying a lump sum. Bear in mind that rules for coverage limits and deductibles vary. When considering insurance premiums, consider not only the monthly costs but the total amount you will be required to pay out of pocket. You will also need to consider the total amount of care the policy will pay for. Golden retrievers are prone to illnesses, and unexpected issues such as accidents can arise. All these occurrences can add up to hefty vet bills. As with humans, pet insurance can help to protect you from unexpected medical bills that are more than what you can afford. This makes pet insurance to be a great hedge against financial risks associated with dog health. Therefore, pet insurance is worth every penny. Frequently Asked Questions Here are commonly asked questions on golden retriever insurance: Does the pet insurance company pay the bill? Pet insurance companies will reimburse you instead of making payments directly to the vet. Do major veterinary practitioners accept pet insurance? Yes, pet insurance is accepted by all the major vet practices in the United States. Whether you take your golden retriever to an animal hospital, mobile clinic, or emergency vet, you will get reimbursements for what you spend. What type of pet insurance can you get for your golden retriever? There are several types of pet insurance that are a good fit for a golden retriever. These include: Lifetime insurance. This covers any pre-existing condition for your golden if they develop it during the course of your policy. Maximum benefits. The policy provides a pot for a certain condition. After the pot has been used up, you will need to pay for the treatment out of pocket. Accident only insurance. This covers your canine in case of an accident. Time-limited insurance. This is insurance that covers conditions for a maximum of 12 months. After this, in case your dog falls sick, you will need to cover the cost out of pocket. Is pet insurance more expensive for purebred dogs? The breed information is among the many factors pet insurers consider while calculating premiums for your dog. Therefore expect premiums for your purebred golden to be higher than for mixed breed pups. Is medication covered by pet insurance? All the insurance providers on our list cover medications, which mostly include injections and prescription meds. Does pet insurance go up every year? While signing up, you will realize that the premiums vary based on age and from policy to policy. Younger pets definitely have lower premiums than their older counterparts. The best way to prepare for this is to thoroughly analyze the policy to understand all the factors that determine how much you pay in premiums. For example, if your golden retriever suffers more health problems as they age, premiums will go up. That said, your insurer should always inform you of any changes in premiums. You can also find out if they have a fixed rate you can pay for a specific period of time. This could help you avoid dealing with sudden changes in premium rates. Last Word With reliable pet insurance for your golden retriever, you can have peace of mind knowing that your pup will have the best treatment in case of an accident or illness. It can also help to reduce your out-of-pocket expenses. However, you need to remember that you will be paying monthly premiums for the policy. Therefore, you should ensure that you do your math to understand what is being covered before you can commit to a particular insurance provider and policy options. Remember that different insurance companies offer different coverage. With one of the above insurers, you can be assured of a good medical package for your canine friend. You May Also Like.
labrador puppies long island - Narrated by Sylvia Peters. Engldave writes: "It used to irritate me that the 'cartoon', as I thought at the age of 5, was a cheat because his mouth would drop open and then close or his tail wag or leg move back and forth, a bit like Captain Pugwash" A letter from Tim's Niece Dear Whirligig Re: Bengo the Boxer Puppy Let me introduce myself, I am the niece of William Timym Tim the cartoonist who presented 'Bengo' the Boxer Puppy in the '50's. I happened to be surfing the net when I came across your website. In those days anything animated and live on air had to be as simple as possible. I remember the large animated drawing cards with 'pull' and 'slide' instructions and would play with them when he returned home from the BBC studios. These 'animated' cartoons would take all week between programmes to produce along with the story line. The drawings were done in vision live and the narrative read by Mary Malcolm or Sylvia Peters. Apart from drawing 'Bengo' followed by 'Bleep and Booster' in the late '50's early '60's my uncle had strip cartoons syndicated all over the world. In this country there was the character called 'Humphrey' who appeared in the magazine 'Woman'. He was in great demand for his lifelike portraits and sculptures of animals and had many commissions including the Gorillas and Rhinos of Sir John Aspinal at Howlett's and Port Lympne, Lord Londonderry's bulldogs, an over life-size sculpture of two fighting Jaguars for Kerry Packer in Australia and Zoos in America. He even designed the TVT award 'oscar' presented each year to deserving television personalities and produced drawings or characatures for various covers for both the Radio and TV Times. The list goes on. He was then asked to sculpt Peter Purvis' dog 'Petra', this was shown on the programme through its various processes, as was the over life-size sculpture of 'Guy' the Gorilla commissioned by the London Zoo and filmed by Blue Peter as a special programme. He also had commissions for humans and his sculpture of Sir Malcolm Sergeant, commissioned by the Promenaders, stands on one of the sweeping staircases at the entrance to the Albert Hall; and a bust of Sir Francis Chichester is part of a display on the 'Gypsy Moth'. He was asked to sculpt a portrait of H. The Queen Mother but he felt that a medium such as bronze could not do justice to Her Majesty and therefore declined. My uncle loved animals and because of the lifelike quality he managed to instill into his pieces was asked to give interviews on various TV networks, he was also invited to a lunch hosted by Princess Margaret and Prince Philip on a World Wildlife Fund function when he sat next to Her Royal Highness who showed great interest in the 'lost wax' process. His collection of bronzes and drawings still stand as a lasting tribute to a very talented man who was presented with the MBE at the age of 87 by the Queen, in recognition of his work for the World Wildlife Fund, just two years before his death in .He fled from the Nazis in the s, ending up safely in Britain, and continued his artistic career drawing cartoons for several magazines. Bengo made his first television appearance in June .A feeling of movement was created as the camera panned across the drawings, while strings mounted to a few of the drawings caused mouths to open or paws to wave. After a while, announcer Sylvia Peters took over the speaking role. Bengo was so adored that Wade decided to model him with a few of his friends as small porcelain figurines. They are amongst the most delightful figures ever produced by Wade, slightly bigger than Whimsies, with Bengo being 2 inches high. Bengo is probably the easiest to find, a standing puppy with a friendly face. At the other end of the range, Bruno Junior Saint Bernard , Droopy basset hound , Percy afghan and Whisky corgi are harder to find, certainly boxed. Also in the series were Chee-Chee pekinese and Pepi chihuahua. Clever packaging was used to complement the dogs, with each being sold in a television-shaped box in shades of yellow, green or orange. My favourite, though, of all the Wade Bengo pieces, is the large Bengo moneybox, a model of the pup seated on a cushion in his basket, and standing 6 inches tall. Usually the cushion is pale blue, but a yellow variety is sometimes found, which sells for more. Copyright Cooper Features, London by H. Wain and Sons Ltd. Pelham Puppets introduced a model of Bengo into their range of string puppets and he continued to be made for many years. This puppet Bengo is easily found today in both the early solid body version and a later hollow body type. Presumably intended for infants, these all-in-one moulded rubber toys were about 5 inches high, with a very loud squeak and were packed in polybags. Extremely difficult to find nowadays, these are something for Bengo collectors to keep an eye out for, but no doubt the majority soon perished after being chewed by infants! Recently I came across a charming badge featuring the head of Bengo, made from gold-coloured plastic. Bengo books add another dimension to a collection of items featuring the charming Boxer puppy. His most famous sculpture is the massive bronze of Guy the gorilla, erected in at London Zoo, which is invariably being hugged by small children whenever I visit! He also produced delightful paintings, and worked on cartoons for several publications. Bengo seems to be finding more and more fans, even amongst those who are too young to remember his television appearances, and there have been rumours of an animated series being made. William Timyn died in , but through china figurines, puppets, toys and books, his delightful creation of a sweet-faced boxer puppy lives on. I am trying to compile a Bengo list. Many thanks. Susan Brewer. With a strong, powerful body and plenty of energy, this breed can be quite active at times. The issue at hand however, is what to do if a Boxer is hyperactive and won't calm down. Let's dive into this topic and discuss all relevant issues. When a young puppy is not running around, he is recovering from acting hyper and napping so that he can get up and do it again. And this is because despite his size, the 12 month or 18 months old is still indeed a pup. He has the mentality of a pup and his actions reflect that. So you have a rather large dog of 45 to 55 pounds .The size of Boxers can fool owners. Since Boxers almost but not quite reach their adult weight by 18 months but have puppy-like tendencies for some time beyond that, owners can sometimes expect too much from a puppy that is beginning to take on the appearance of an adult. Stages of activity levels to expect with Boxers: 8 weeks to 4 months old: This is the 'new' puppy stage. Boxer puppies can be very hyper but owners often do not need to help them calm down because they'll plop down when they tire out, which is quite often. At this age, a Boxer can be running around one moment and asleep with his head in the food dish the next. This is a time of exploring and curiosity… the energy level is like a roller-coaster. You'll want to have a solid schedule in place so that a hyper Boxer puppy has more structure to his day. A Boxer will still get a lot of joy from playing and often craves tons of attention from his owners… this is a good thing… that interaction is a big part of proper bonding and instilling proper hierarchy that will lead to a well-behaved dog. Daytime naps are much less at this point, so having a Boxer awake most of the day can lend to feeling as if the dog is always on the go… or at least is restless if you are not available to get him outside and on the go! By this time, all commands should have been taught and the dog should have a good schedule of releasing his energy in burst of exercise… and if this has not been done or if the Boxer is home alone much of the day and has no release, they'll be some behavioral consequences of that. Generally Boxer dogs begin to calm down by the age of 2 years old, though it is a gradual process, as you'll note from above. Issues can arise if these elements are not in place, however it is never too late to take charge and we will go over some steps owners can take to reel in a hyper Boxer dog. Most will indeed act like adults, but this does not mean that you will have a perfectly behaved dog that can handle any situation with grace and refinement. Boxers are as intelligent as a human toddler , hyper aware of their environment and subject to acting hyper or in most cases very restless if healthy methods of releasing energy are not available or encouraged. The adult may have trouble with separation anxiety or may become agitated or overly clingy if he is not offered both physical and mental workouts. He relaxes quite a bit but can still be engaged to take walks, explore and even take on new challenges. Problems of restlessness can arise if the dog has health issues that interfere with his sleeping or if some disrupts his environment. How to Deal with a Hyper Boxer and Calm Him Down The best method to calm a puppy or dog down is to have a routine that preemptively combats hyperactivity before it reaches an uncontrollable level. It is much easier to avoid this state of frenzied behavior than it is to reverse it. Do keep in mind that very young puppies up to about 4 months old cannot really be reined in; they are all over the map and will have short energy bursts followed by deep sleep; it's a temporary stage that will gradually even out. Here are some ways to encourage a calm demeanor: 1 Have the proper confinement method. The confinement method that you use to keep him in one spot will have a big impact on his behavior. If the area is too small, a Boxer can develop overwhelming feelings of being pent up and this can make him very hyper and agitated. It's very stressful for a dog of any age to be confined to a small space. This breed also can have some claustrophobic issues more than others, so this only adds to the issue. When made to stay in a tiny area with not enough room to move around, there are often issues of developing restlessness and anxiety. It can be difficult to calm a Boxer down after he has been let out. If a dog is stressed that he is alone or even if he is just bored, quite a bit of damage can occur as he roams the house, looking for an outlet. Puppies do best with a sectioned off area of a room; the kitchen or living room is often best as they should be close to their humans and not feel as if they are too isolated. Another option for Boxer puppies is an appropriately sized indoor canine playpen. Older Boxer dogs that are housebroken often do best with one room, not having full access to the house. And for those with separation anxiety, being alone in a large empty house if often more stressful than being alone in just one room that has all the needed supplies to keep him safe, happy, fed and occupied. One of the biggest mistakes that owners make is taking a Boxer out once he shows signs of needing to get outside. If you're sitting on the couch, binge watching Games of Thrones and after 3 shows you realize that your Boxer is acting hyper he really doesn't have much interest in whether or not Daenerys will ever actually get Drogon under control and then you say, "Oh, my Boxer could probably use a walk", it's often too late. At that point, the walk will only help a Boxer release the frustration that built up as opposed to the walk being an outlet for a normal level of activity requirements. He will be a bit calmer, but not as calm as he would be had you taken him out in advance of the building agitation. So, the best thing that you can do is to set up a schedule of when you'll engage with your Boxer dog and really try to not miss any sessions or delay them. If there are others in the house, this can be split up between those who are going to be involved with caring for the puppy or dog. There are 3 activities that you'll want to do on a regular basis: Walks - The importance of these are often understated. It may seem as if your Boxer is just ambling along, perhaps even just going along for your sake but this is not true at all. The Boxer is a strong breed that was built for action; he needs to work his muscles and experience the liberty of movement. Super young pups should have all puppy shots before being taken out. For most Boxers, regardless of age, two walks per day are best. The daily amount should 45 minutes for pup and 1 hour for those 1 year and older. These can be broken up in any way that suits your own schedule and time availability. Cardio - Just a 15 minute bout of high intensity action such as Frisbee or fetch once per day can make a huge difference in a Boxer's demeanor, keeping much more calm and happy when he is back in the house. Some owners mistake a Boxer's indifference at seeing a Frisbee as not wanting to engage. However, it is often the level of enthusiasm that an owner displays that will directly impact a Boxer's desire to run. Most love to run and stretching and working the muscles in this way is a great method to keep a Boxer dog in good shape. That hyper and restless activity that you witness when a Boxer is in the house can be channeled into a short session of action that leaves the dog satisfied and both physically and mentally ABLE to be calm. Commands - We going to dive into this a bit more ahead, however taking 15 to 20 minutes a day to work on commands has a triple benefit: 1. You work toward having a well-trained dog which in and of itself is a huge plus. It helps a Boxer learn self-control. When a dog discovers the element of focus and purposely learning, he is then able to self-regulate and this itself can help the dog calm himself down. It helps to establish hierarchy, with you as the clear leader. For any dog to behave well, this is a must. While it is true that Boxers will be much calmer if they have a physical outlet, stimulating the mind plays a huge role as well. Very detailed studies have proven that canines in general have the emotional capacity of 3 year old humans. This is quite telling. Do you have kids? Or have ever spent even an hour with a toddler? They are super hyper, highly inquisitive and importantly are never happy just 'being' for long periods of time. Dogs are the same. Boxers can become hyper if they have nothing to focus on. Just left to 'be', they can get bored and have trouble knowing what to do, so they run around… they quite literally can end up bouncing off the walls in an overly hyper state with no real tools to calm themselves down. Now, if you take that same hyper Boxer dog and he is taken out for walks twice per day, plays one-on-one with his owner once a day AND is given indoor task that require him to use his canine senses, he'll be a much happier and calmer dog. The mention of canine senses is rather vital here…. Dogs have urges to use their sense of smell… to sniff… to explore with their noses …. It's the way it has been for thousands of years and it's a canine urge that is not going to go away no matter how pampered or spoiled a life a dog lives. So dogs have this innate craving to sniff after scents that builds up each day if not allowed to really use this, it can cause a dog to become frustrated. So, an indoor game that involves a Boxer using his sense of smell along with a task that requires focus is often an integral part of preventing hyper behavior and giving a dog a feeling of accomplishment that can work with the other elements to keep him calm. You might be thinking that you'll have to invest in some sort of intricate canine version of Sudoku. Not at all. This is as easy as hiding some treats in the house and encouraging your Boxer dog to find them. As with cardio mentioned earlier, the energy level and enthusiasm of the owner plays a huge part in how eager a Boxer will be to follow through. Speak with in an animated voice and encourage your dog to seek out the hidden treats. Start with easy to find hiding places and then work up to much more difficult sessions. Once a dog learns that it's time to play the game, he often will not give up and will search until he finds his treasure. Advanced sessions can include having the reward be deep in a cardboard box under layers of old towels and safe odds-and-ends and be sure that the treat itself has a strong scent; a good choice is a strip of bacon grease blotted out because most dogs won't bother to move much for a food that they will receive at any rate. Be sure to use a command word such as 'Find' or 'Go Get' and a word to end the session such as 'Good, Find' or 'Good, Get' to establish when this begins and when this ends. You don't have to do this every day; 2 or 3 days a week is usually enough to make a Boxer dog happy and work in conjunction with the other methods to keep hyper behavior at bay and encourage a more calming atmosphere when you just want your dog to settle down. Continued below 4 Have the right collection of toys for your Boxer. Are you guilty of walking out of a dollar store with an armful of cheap dog toys? If so, you may very well then be an owner who wonders why the heck your Boxer isn't just happy having all those toys and would rather run, jump up and spin around the house like a hyper nutcase. When a dog is bored he will do one of three things: Sulk and act depressed, bark or otherwise have disturbing behavior or express agitation. When you invest a few more bucks to obtain sturdy, quality toys that encourage independent play, this can make a huge difference in a dog's general state of mind and his ability to keep himself occupied. Think of someone giving you a paper and pencil compared to paper and a piece Crayon box. Give your Boxer rawhide alternatives that allow him to happily gnaw away or treat-release toys that motivate him to work to gain his reward. There are two huge benefits of teaching a Boxer all basic commands: he will respect you as the true leader and you will have control over his behavior. While a hyper puppy definitely still needs to be walked, engaged and given tasks to stay busy…and a puppy cannot be expected to remain calm all day… when you take the assertive position to give a 'Sit' command that is listened to without hesitation, this can really come in handy if your Boxer is acting hyper around company or when out in public in a store or other area where you really need him to act calm. It's never too early or too late to start working on this. Training for the basics of Sit, Come, Stay, Down, Get or Fetch and Give can start when a Boxer puppy is 8 weeks old and can be taught to older dogs as well. In addition to this, teaching a Boxer to Heel is always advantageous and not only will keep him calm when out on a walk around the neighborhood but will also keep him appropriately by your side in high energy situations where a dog can become hyper just by picking up the vibe of an event. The size of a dog's world is exactly the size that an owner allows it to be. Dogs that are not used to seeing cars and people walking about will often bark like mad when they do actually see them. Dogs that are not used to being out in public will act inappropriately because they have not been exposed enough to know how to stay calm. Dogs that rarely see a visitor to the house will often jump and act overly excited on those few occasions that someone new enters into their territory. Boxers should be gradually exposed to the many situations, places, people and other pets that exist in the world. If you stayed inside your home… only venturing into your yard and nowhere else for years and were suddenly plopped down in to Times Square, you wouldn't be so calm either; that's how dogs feel if they are isolated and not given the opportunity to slowly learn about the world and all that is in it. Go to parks, bring your Boxer along to run errands, bring him hiking, change up the walking routes, take the time to say hello when you pass by another owner with his dog, have him outside with you while you wash the car, bring him to the beach… unless there are big signs saying 'no dogs allowed' bring him along and let him experience the sights and sounds of the world. Hyperkinesis - Being clinically hyperactive is often misdiagnosed. Most dogs simply need the physical and mental releases as we discussed above. These highly sensitive dogs can be set off into a frenzy by everyday simple noises such as microwave beeping or normal household events such as someone zipping down the staircase. For these rare cases, thorough testing must be performed, which should include a 2 to 3 day stay at an veterinary hospital where vitals are monitored, both heart and respiratory rates, when both at rest and when stimuli is introduced. If this is diagnosed, stimulants similar to those that are given to humans with ADHD can be helpful as are vet supervised changes to the diet and possible supplements of L-theanine, GABA and valerian root. Senior Issues - In some cases, a senior dog will be unable to stay calm and this is often related to either cognitive decline, health issues that are causing discomfort or a combination of the two. Physical discomfort often associated with arthritis can cause a dog to have trouble resting or sleeping. Food Allergies - While we have not seen any studies showing specifics, veterinary medicine claims that canines may have food allergies that can lead to abnormal behavior including acting hyper and having an inability to calm down. With all the high levels of chemicals found in many manufactured foods, it's easy to believe this could be the case. When a dog is constantly ingesting artificial coloring, artificial flavoring and all kinds of chemical preservatives, this is not good for physical health and it's not a huge leap from there to a dog's mental health as well. If this is suspected, a change to home cooked food or a switch to a quality commercial brand without these elements should be considered. Summary Boxers are animated, able to express emotion and are great companions. This is not a lazy breed or one that is content to sit alone just 'being'. English Cream Golden Retrievers are no exception, experiencing a huge burst in popularity and demand. Also known as white Golden Retrievers and rare white European Retrievers, their coats are light cream or white color that is a stark contrast to the traditional yellow and red-gold coats. Duck and fowl hunting was a popular leisure activity for the wealthy and privileged, but the gun dogs back then were not great for both land and water. That posed an issue with hunters as Scotland is full of random marshes and bodies of water, which meant a hunter needed more than one gun dog. By crossing current types of gun dogs, Retrievers, and spaniels, Golden Retrievers were formed. Although the first real sighting of a white Golden Retriever is unknown, they most likely started showing up in litters around the s. Their natural athleticism and gentleness with handling fowl in their mouths shot them to popularity. To this day, Golden Retrievers are one of the most popular breeds, though mostly as companion dogs than hunting dogs. In the United States, cream and white Goldens are not accepted and remain that way. Today, the only way to get a kennel-club accepted White Golden is to get a puppy from a litter of English-bloodline White Golden Retrievers. American Golden Retrievers with cream or white coats are not accepted anywhere, so make sure to ask the breeder about bloodlines. It may also be a red flag, as any experienced Golden breeder should know this. We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. This was the first time we had a chance to chart puppies from birth until 8 weeks old. We tried to take as many pictures as possible so we could have a journal of our Golden Retriever puppy growth week by week. When raising guide and service dog puppies we usually bring home our puppies at around weeks old. On occasion we are allowed to see puppies before 8 weeks of age, but they need to stay with their mother and siblings during those important early weeks to get milk and antibodies from mama and learn how to interact properly with siblings, learning important behaviors like bite inhibition. During our days as a foster we raised two litters of puppies , but both were already weeks old by the time we got them home. We actually own the Puppy Culture DVD and Workbook which includes charts, lists, worksheets and other great information for raising your litter. Keep your eyes and ears open and absorb it all like a sponge! Birth To 1 Week Old Guess what? This was the first litter we ever whelped!? We got a lot of advise, but we were largely on our own. Large Puppy Dish — great for feeding the puppies when they moved to solid food. Whelping Mats — we ordered 2 of these mats and washed them several times a day. Whelping Box — We have a homemade whelping box built by my father-in-law, but if we continue raising litters I plan on purchasing an EZWhelp Whelping Box. Our homemade box lasted three litters. We ended up purchasing the Magnabox which was hellu expensive but if you plan on raising multiple litters we highly recommend it. We recently put together a whelping checklist with all the supplies we gathered together to help out with our second litter of Golden Retriever puppies. Check out our whelping supplies checklist here. However, none were overly huge and none were extra small. No runts and no beasts. It was my understanding that when the cord was chewed down to the base of the belly it was sometimes difficult to get it to stop bleeding. I took the hemostat and pinched the umbilical cord about 2 inches from the base of the pups belly then cut the cord rather than let Raven chew it off. I kept the hemostat on the cord for about 2 minutes to let it clout. The umbilical cord dries up quickly and then within a day or 2 it falls off. Raven was a good mama and took care of her poops. Puppy eyes and ears are closed at this stage and puppies army crawl around the whelping box looking for a teat to suckle. We did everything we could to make sure our pups stayed warm by adding a watt heat lamp to the whelping box and portable heating unit in the puppy room. As I mentioned Raven stayed in the whelping box most of week 1 and of course… the puppy piles! One thing I learned is if I had a puppy on my lap then do not let Raven lick those areas or be prepared for a little accident on your lap. While caring for Raven and her litter Raven was really blowing out her coat that first week, but as time went on it slowed down. I heard from other friends this is common and that Raven blew out her coat much less than other mama dogs. We got Probiotics for Raven before her first litter, but forgot to order them for her second litter. After an upset stomach for the first week or so we realized our mistake, got Probiotics, and no more upset tummy. Week 2 — Pups eyes are opening starting to waddle. Week 3 — First bark!
