This is one of the finest family dogs in the world: cheerful, demonstrative, trustworthy with everyone, and forgiving of any mistakes made by inexperienced owners. Give this breed two brisk walks each day, play fetch games, and take him out for a good run once a week, and he is adaptable to almost any lifestyle. Friendly with everyone strangers, children, dogs, cats, smaller pets , his bark is welcoming rather than protective. You must control his tendency to chew on objects and to mouth your hands -- provide a box filled with toys so he can carry things around in his mouth. A Golden Retriever remains enthusiastically puppy-like for many years, so early obedience training is required to instill calmness and good manners. Eager to please and wonderfully responsive, he is nonetheless distracted by exciting sights and sounds, so you must be both patient and persistent. The mind and heart of a Golden is sweet and gentle, but his body is robust — until he's taught not to pull on the leash, you'll need good biceps to walk him. Our beautiful girl was born last April and we collected her in June. We named her Sienna and she is just the most adorable and loving girl. She loves going for long walks and running round the fields surrounding our home, although she does manage to seek out every muddy puddle to roll around in. She loves nothing more than playing hide and seek with her many toys and is so clever, she always finds them. My favourite time is in the evening, when she becomes sleepy and snuggles on the sofa with us, being totally pampered. We absolutely adore her and feel so blessed she is part of our family. Exercises Grooming From ancient Germany precisely around the 19th century had the now extinct mastiff breed Bullenbeisser and bulldogs brought in from England. At the time of their arrival, they served as hunting dogs for bears, deer, and other ferocious beasts, it would capture the prey with the help of its awesome teeth and detain it until the hunter arrives. And in the first boxer standard club was launched with a comprehensive document that is still in use today. Shortly after, the breed made its way into other European countries and got into the U. S in the late 19th century with the American Kennel Club taking registration of its first boxer around .During the first world war, boxers played the role of a military dog as a pack-carrier, a guard dog, and an attack dog, later they were taken home by the soldiers and got introduced into the domestic world as a show dog, best companion, and a reliable guard. One with so much life, energetic, curious, attentive, active, smart, sociable and incredible fun with children is the boxer, they are also known to be very patient and highly protective of their family members making them the love and desire of many homes. As active dogs, they need a lot of exercise to keep them mentally fit, apparently having a mind of its own, you will find your boxer entertain itself by digging the ground often, chewing, and licking the mouth to beat boredom. They are also very stubborn in character which makes them a terrible choice for first-timers with dogs, they are generally a bit difficult with adult dogs including dogs of a similar breed but friendly with puppies. They usually do not bark unless there is a genuine reason behind it but they love to growl. If you have occupied home with people around all the time or you want a canine buddy the whole time, then a boxer is just the perfect breed to get. Being a highly active dog, they dread loneliness and they can cope finely in both a house and an apartment as long as you provide it with enough room and spaces for exercises and activities. What you must have is a large yard if you are living in a house for it to dig the ground and run around as it likes. And more so, if you are given to being away from home most of the time, getting a boxer may not be the best for you and the dog, because they usually get aggressive when left alone. Boxers are known as loud snorers and they drool greatly too. Boxers are playful and very energetic dogs as such regular exercises are part of a good canine relationship, especially a breed of this sort. Your boxer should be allowed to play in a fenced area and on-leashed since it is likely to jump and leap around in excitement. This puts a boxer as a bad choice for a frail owner as they may find it a tad impossible and daunting keeping up with its excessive activity demands. Being a breed with a short and thin coat its grooming demands are quite easy and little, all it needs is a light brushing of the hair twice every week to maintain its good and gleeful looks. Bathing should be a once in a while since boxers are generally clean dogs and its nails, be trimmed once every month or as often as they grow worn on surfaces, its teeth should also be brushed daily to avoid tartar formation and other dental crises. New Braunfels, Texas is best known for river tubing and for its awesome water park, Schlitterbahn. Our family consists of our sons Andrew and Alex, my wife Dalia and myself. Both my son and I are really into boxers. I got my first pair of boxers about ten years ago. It was a boy named Scooby and a girl named Chata. They both had awesome personalities and were really fun to be around. Unfortunely I had to let them go in when my son was born. Our first boxer was a boy named Max. We got him when he was about 7 weeks old. He and my son were inseparable. They would chase each other around the house, take each others toys and even took naps together. In , we got our girl named Sugar Diva. She is more laid back, but is always on alert. She sometimes thinks she is one of the big dogs. She likes to run along side our boxers and even out running them at times. She acts like my sons little sister chasing him around the house, pulling on his pants and sleeping next to him at night. Max and Sugar Diva had their first litter in December .From there we kept our second girl named Memee. My son got her name from watching Clifford the Big Red Dog. In the show Clifford has a friend named Memee. In , we got our third girl named Xena. She is very calm, but very smart. She knows how to sit, beg and speak. A couple months later we got our stallion named T-Bone. My son is also responsible for his name. He is everything we wanted in a male boxer. He is tall, obedient, lovable and playful. In , our little boston terrier Princess had her first and only litter. She had 5 puppies that all went to family members well except for one. We kept the biggest boy named Rusty. He is my wife's bubblegum following her everywhere she goes. In fall , we had our last 2 litters of American boxers. While our love for the American boxer is very deep, we are now focused on raising European boxers. European boxers are a little shorter but they have bigger chest, bigger heads and more muscle definition. They have the same great personalities as American boxers do: playful, lovable and intelligent. They are breed to be both show and working dogs. Sandman Boxers have been a big help to us because he has shown us what to look for in a European boxer. He has been been raising both American and European boxers for some time now and has a great deal of experience with breeders from overseas. In we got our newest import, Talia. She is high energy and very playful. We are looking forward to raising not only great family companions but also healthy, intelligent and show potential boxers. We hope that you find our website both entertaining and informative. Once again thank you for visiting our website and hopefully choosing one of our boxers to be your next family companion. Some owners believe that their male Goldens tend to be far more attached to members of the family, while female Goldens are more independent. A male Golden might be more likely to stay glued at your hip, eager to please you and earn your affection. Improvements in screening and careful breeding have been lowering the rates of this condition in recent years. Females are also more likely to develop ocular myasthenia and adrenocortical insufficiency. Overall, male and female Goldens have the same life expectancy, reaching anywhere between 10 and 12 years. In some cases, both male and female Golden Retrievers can even live between 14 and 15 years. This may lead to the assumption that females are easier to train. Goldens can often correctly respond to commands starting as young as 12 weeks old, whether they are male or female. Working with an experienced professional who can show you positive training methods can help make things like obedience training much easier, no matter whether you have a male Golden puppy or a female one. Male vs Female Golden Retriever Key Difference 6: Family Compatibility While Golden Retrievers make great family pets, there are a few things about the two genders that may make you choose one over the other for your household. Since female Goldens are sometimes reported to have calmer dispositions, they may be a nice choice for families that include children or seniors. Female Goldens are sometimes believed to be more careful and observant around small children, whereas male Goldens might be more carefree and playful. Due to their larger size, a male Golden Retriever might be able to knock children or senior adults over if they get hyper. Goldens of either gender are remarkably friendly, but this energetic spirit could cause injury to certain family members who cannot handle the size of a medium-to-large breed dog. Goldens are an ideal match for young couples who love a lot of activity. Whether you choose a male or female Golden Retriever, rest assured they will bring years of love, loyalty, and fun to your family! This may help them to learn commands at a slightly younger age, although these differences tend to disappear as a dog gets a little older. Are male dogs friendlier than females? Male dogs are not necessarily more friendly, than female Golden Retrievers. In most cases, the differences will come from the individual personality of the puppy in question, rather than the gender. What is the difference between male dogs and female dogs? It really comes down to the individual personality of a puppy more than its gender. Can you have 2 male Golden Retrievers? Goldens are actually happier when they have companions, and while two males may fight to figure out who is the alpha between them, you could just as easily experience this same dynamic between two female Golden Retrievers or mixed genders. Do male or female dogs live longer? It has been noted that gender does not typically play a role in determining the life span of a dog, although males tend to live slightly longer on average. Spaying and neutering a dog seems to have a greater impact on the lifespan of a Golden Retriever. Is it better to get a male or female golden retriever? The answer to this question will usually come down to your personal preferences. While some dog owners report that males or females tend to have certain characteristics, in most cases, these differences stem more from the personality of an individual puppy than from their gender. He and his wife have four children and love spending time together, traveling lived oversees for 4 years , enjoying the outdoors and connecting Golden families. The Golden Retriever has been an AKC-recognized breed since and was commonly used as a gun dog and for retrieving small game such as waterfowl, and for companionship. The Golden Retriever originated in the Scottish Highlands. The first Lord Tweedmouth, Dudley Majoribanks, is credited with developing the breed and keeping detailed records to create the ideal gun dog for the terrain. Great discipline and a gentle spirit make the Golden Retriever a perfect retrieval breed since the goal of this task is to bring the trophy back as undamaged as possible. Golden Retrievers first appeared in dog shows in at a British dog show. They also started appearing in the United States around the same time as they were brought across the Canadian border. They gained popularity with sport hunters and in general. Their popularity really took off in the s and they are consistently one of the most popular dog breeds. If you are not the sporting type, bringing a Golden Retriever into your family as a pet is just as rewarding because they are one of the most loyal and jovial breeds out there. One of the facts about Golden Retrievers is that they are the epitome of friendly and make fantastic family dogs. Golden Retrievers are considered one of the friendliest dog breeds. They tend to be good with kids, other dogs, other pets, and even strangers. Goldens love attention and they bond closely with their families. They are affectionate with them, and also just about everyone else. Although they do tend to get along with everyone, they love being around their favorite humans the most. They will bark to alert you and can end up barking a lot if you do not train your dog to stop barking early on. Golden Retrievers are highly adaptable dogs. They thrive in homes with yards where they can run. They can also adapt to apartment living as long as they get enough daily exercise, mental stimulation, and attention. These dogs do well in just about any climate, but are sensitive to heat. As one of the most affectionate dog breeds , they are not at all happy about being left alone for long periods of time. Although super-friendly and attention-loving, Goldens can also be sensitive to their surroundings; make sure they feel included, but have a quiet place to go if things get too noisy or overwhelming. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a Golden Retriever include progressive retinal atrophy, cataracts, elbow dysplasia , and hip dysplasia. Good breeding practices make a big difference in the health of puppies. Reputable breeders screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. So, make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of the parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. Goldens are considered one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners. They are highly trainable dogs that pick up on things quickly and are eager to please. These traits make them a good fit for owners of all experience levels. It also helps them excel at obedience competitions. As one of the smartest dog breeds , Golden Retrievers can get bored easily. Because they pick up things quickly, they can get bored with too much repetition in training. If your dog has mastered the command, move on to something more advanced or another activity. You can also enroll in puppy training classes for some variety in training and also some socialization. Golden Retrievers have a long double coat that will shed a little year-round and will be heavier twice a year as the seasons change. Brushing a few times a week and daily brushing during seasonal shedding along with a bath as needed is usually enough for at-home care. You will want to go to the dog groomer for a professional trim a few times a year, especially as the seasons change. Nail trims once or twice monthly keep nails from growing too long. Daily tooth brushing, along with cleanings at the vet when needed, is ideal. Golden Retrievers are one of the most active dog breeds. Daily walks plus some playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough to keep these dogs happy and healthy. But, they are high-energy dogs that will likely always be up for more activity if you are. Much like the Labrador , they also tend to have an extended puppyhood. They tend to start winding down a little around the age of 3 and settle into your lifestyle, but they will still be high-energy dogs that require a lot of daily activity. Goldens are known for being versatile and athletic dogs. They tend to love swimming. Once they are done growing and the vet clears them for higher-impact activities, you can try other things too. They are one of the dog breeds that make good running partners. You can also teach them how to play frisbee or play fetch. Training for dog sports is another good option. In addition to obedience, Golden Retrievers are well suited for agility, dock diving , rally, flyball, tracking, and more. Fully-grown Golden Retrievers usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. Golden Retrievers generally live for years on average. With their intelligence, eagerness to please, and gentle disposition, Golden Retrievers are versatile working dogs. In addition to being one of the dog breeds that make the best service dogs , Goldens can be found working as emotional support dogs, certified therapy dogs, search and rescue dogs, military dogs, police dogs, animal actors, and more. When Moana's that's "mow-ah-nah" dog mom contacted me for cute little puppy pics, of course I said "Yes" right after I squealed with delight and we quickly secured a session on the calendar before she got any bigger! The sun was shining, the flowers were in bloom and Moana romped and played and we caught it all. At the viewing and ordering appointment, Brenda had a hard time narrowing down her favorites because Moana's just that cute, but we eventually got there. She decided on ordering two plush blankets one for her and one for Moana's bed along with a digital negative package which is presented in a handmade reclaimed barn wood box with a metal print on the cover and a 5x7 print of each image inside along with a USB drive with all the high resolution digital image files. It was only later when Moana's mom shared her Christmas mini session photo of Moana with them see below , that the Creeds asked if those were taken by Penny Whistle Photography. In I received my own yellow lab named Spike. The many memories created with Spike remain close to my heart even after 60 years. After my time spent in the US Coast Guard in the 70's we received a lab to raise with our new young family. A year hasn't gone by since then, that we haven't had a lab as a part of our family. We are confident in saying we guarantee our puppies to be the highest quality available. We love our Fox Reds! Fox red Labrador breeders Labs come in three colors, yellow, chocolate and black. As well as some pale, dilute forms of those colors. The red fox Lab, or fox red Lab, is a dark coated variety of the yellow Labrador Retriever. Breeders are selecting darker red Labrador Retrievers to breed from as they become more popular companions than paler yellow Labs. Sometimes known as the ruby Labrador or fox red Lab, these are smart, energetic dogs are best suited to active owners. Yet at one time, almost all Labradors were black. This was partly due to nature, and partly due to a little human interference. Chocolate and yellow Labs were both harder to breed for and less desirable. Horrifically, yellow or brown puppies were often culled at birth! Yet all three colors of Labrador Retriever, black, chocolate and yellow including the red shade , share the same origins or history. Bred to be hunting companions, with bags of intelligence and a friendly disposition. In recent years, these rarer colors are becoming more popular. Which leads to more people selectively breeding for them. And therefore more dogs being born with these coats. Red Fox English Lab vs American Lab The trend in Labrador coat colors swung to paler and paler colors in the s, and remained that way for decades. Especially among the dog showing community. Fortunately a pool of dark yellow or fox red Labs remained popular in the working sporting dog community. Possibly because a pale yellow dog, being far too easy for wildfowl to spot, is not an ideal hunting companion. American Labs are slimmer built, with less stocky heads and chests. They have a stronger prey drive, are a little less forward and playful. Even today you are unlikely to find a Red Labrador with a show background. Any dog advertised as an English fox red Labrador will probably have a pedigree that is a mix of American and English dogs. It is largely from this pool of working retrievers that we now have the stunning fox red Labrador Retrievers that we see today. And because they are often the American Lab type rather than English Lab type, they are often taller and more athletic in appearance than the paler yellow Labs. And if you live in the USA, you may have to do plenty of detective work to find one at all. You may have more luck looking for an American Lab type, from working lines. They are very intelligent and trainable, with loyal, loving personalities. Although they have the usual Lab friendliness, they can also be a little more nervous and wary of strangers and slightly high strung. Lots of socialization and plenty of attention will keep these dogs happy. Coupled with lots of exercise, and both mental and physical activities to keep them busy. Presumably because breeders are selecting for the popular deeper coat color in order to increase puppy sales. There is a lot of pressure on breeders to produce certain colors. But a responsible breeder should not choose parents purely on the basis of color. Especially when there are not large numbers of fox reds to choose from. You may be tempted to skip this — but give it a go — it might be easier than you think! Think of a Labrador as a basically black dog. Black is the default color. The black coat is caused by a pair of genes called the B genes Your dog inherits one from his mother and one from his father — in a pair — like this: BB B genes come in big or little versions. So a black dog could have a pair that look like this instead: Bb Little b carries the code necessary to make a brown coat instead of a black one. BUT, big B is dominant and switches off little b. So little b only gets a say, if two of them get together like this: bb, and when that happens, you get a chocolate Lab! This is done by two little e genes. They also come in a pair like this: ee And when they get together they have the amazing power to completely block the genes that cause black and brown coats. A lab with two little ee genes cannot have a brown or a black coat and so the coat color now defaults to yellow. Now we are getting closer to our fox red color. E genes can also be big like this: EE or mixed like this: Ee, but when that happens the big E switches off the little e, and takes away its power. Yellow vs Red Fox Lab Coats A red Lab is a variation of yellow, and every red dog has those two essential little e genes that switch off black and brown. But then it starts to get a little bit more complicated. It centers on a pigment called pheomelanin. And it is controlled by two different sets of genes. The A gene controls the production of the red color. And the C gene controls whether or not it is fully expressed or diluted. This is what makes things a little more complicated. In fact, I am still over-simplifying it a bit. Otherwise the B gene will override them. And you are back to black or brown. Fox Red Lab Breeders Your first step when bringing any Labrador into your life should be to make sure that this is the right time for you to do this. The next step is to find a reputable breeder of Labradors. Finding a nice fox red stud dog and making a list of all his recent matings is often a starting point. You are most unlikely to find a good breeder who only breeds fox reds. This is because color is not the top priority for a responsible breeder. And remember, in most yellow litters there will be a range of shades. Puppies may darken as they grow, or they may not. No breeder can guarantee you the final color of your puppy. Make sure that both parents have good hips, elbows and a clear eye test, as well as a PRA clear certificate. Then your pup will have the best chance of growing up healthy. Red Fox Lab Puppy Prices When it first starts to trend, a fashionably colored dog may be more expensive, and this is still happening to some extent with reds. My advice is to be wary of paying an unusually high price for a red lab puppy. It could indicate that you have found an unscrupulous breeder who may be cutting corners on health or other important matters. The reason I say this is because many respectable breeders will look down on selling puppies of different colors for different prices. In fact paying the same price irrespective of color could mean you have a better breeder, and a healthier pup! This shade gets increasingly darker over the first few weeks. By three weeks old they are starting to look much more like the Labrador you know and love. By the time you take them home at 8 weeks old they will have that lovely fox red shade. Avoid cheap kibble that is high in filler ingredients like wheat, soy, and corn as these can lead to weight gain. Sammypoos will do well eating 2. Divide this amount into two to three meals each day. Avoid free-feeding your dogs, as obesity can aggravate joint issues. Since the Samoyed Poodle Mix is vulnerable to hip and elbow dysplasia, consider adding wild Alaskan salmon oil and probiotics to their diet as doing this will strengthen their joints. Also, add fresh water to their water bowls every day to keep him hydrated. Every dog can have unique dietary needs though, so contact your vet to know which products or supplements are ideal for your Sammypoo. Sammypoo Health Issues Although designer dogs are normally developed to counteract any health problems that can affect the parent breeds, pet parents should know what health issues can affect their pups. The Sammypoo is prone to joint problems like hip dysplasia, digestive problems like bloat, and a heart disorder called mitral valve disease. The Samoyed is one of the most popular dog breeds and their cost varies significantly. Other factors that may influence the cost of a Samoyed Poodle Mix for sale include the location and the breeders involved. To get the best deal, purchase your Samoyed Poodle Mix puppy from a credible breeder. Alternatively, consider Sammypoo Puppies or adult dogs for adoption. Sometimes Sammypoo puppies end up in rescue centers or animal shelters across the country if they end up in the wrong hands. For example, the Furhaven Orthopedic Dog Bed is a splendid gift for a Sammypoo because your pet can benefit from the comfort and luxury this product offers. They are a relatively new breed but their popularity is slowly starting to grow. Like all Samoyed hybrids , the Sammypoo can inherit any combination of traits from either parent breed. This means that they can vary quite a bit in terms of appearance and temperament. However, this combination results in a small to medium-sized dog that inherits the best traits from both of its parents. The Sammypoo is an intelligent, active, and friendly little pooch that loves nothing more than spending time with its family. Loyal and affectionate, these pups make great companion dogs and are particularly well suited to families with young children. In this case, the Sammypoo is a mix of the Samoyed and Standard Poodle. The breed originated in Siberia and was used by the native people there, known as the Samoyeds, for hunting and herding reindeer. The Standard Poodle also has a long and interesting history. They are believed to have originated in Germany, where they were originally bred as gun dogs. The Sammypoo breed is quite a new breed, as they were first bred in the United States in the s. Today, they are a popular choice for families as they make great companion dogs. They famous for being very loyal to their family and make great companion dogs. They are also known for being very playful and energetic, which makes them great for families with children. The Sammypoo is generally easy breed to train, as they are very intelligent and eager to please. While the Sammypoo is generally a friendly breed, they can be wary of strangers. It is important to socialize them from a young age so that they are comfortable around new people. They typically weigh between 30 and 50 pounds and stand between 15 and 20 inches tall at the shoulder. The Sammypoo has a dense, double coat that can be either straight or curly. The most common coat colors are white, cream, and black. The Sammypoo has a long head with a pointed muzzle. They have dark brown eyes and medium-sized ears that sit high on the head. The Sammypoo has a strong, muscular body with a long tail that is often carried over the back. The frequency of brushing will depend on the length of the coat. Regular brushing will ensure that the coat is healthy and free of tangles. Like other non-shedding big dogs , it is a hypoallergenic breed, thus, good for people with allergies. The Sammypoo is also a low-maintenance breed when it comes to grooming. They will need to be groomed every four to six weeks, which includes trimming the nails a nail clipper for poodles will do , cleaning the ears, and brushing the teeth. The Sammypoo is a fairly easy breed to groom at home, but you may want to consider taking them to a professional groomer if you are not comfortable doing it yourself. When choosing a food for your Sammypoo, it is important to choose high-quality food that is formulated for medium-sized breeds. This will ensure that they are getting the nutrients they need. Much like the Samoyed Husky mix , you should also avoid giving your Sammypoo table scraps, as this can lead to weight gain. The Sammypoo is not a picky eater and will typically do well on any type of food. Some good food options include: Fish cooked. Lifespan Sociability Sammypoo puppies are adorable little balls of fluff that stay in constant motion. That means you need to be extra vigilant about puppy-proofing your home. They also need a great deal of exercise. Be careful about what kinds of exercise you give your Sammypoo, though. You should start training and socializing them from the day you bring them home, as they can be stubborn and difficult to train later in life. They come in two sizes. As you may know, there are two sizes of Poodle: Standard and Miniature. Both sizes can be used by breeders to make Sammypoos, and the size of the Poodle used will determine the size of the resulting Sammypoo. However, Miniature Sammypoos will require less exercise, so they may be a smarter pick for older or more sedentary owners. While Samoyeds are almost always white, Poodles come in a variety of colors — 11, to be exact. As a result, most Sammypoos have a white base, on which any number of color combinations can be superimposed. The good news is that regardless of how they turn out looking, these dogs are adorable — but if you have your heart set on a particular color combo, this may not be the breed for you. Their personalities are a mixed bag as well. Fortunately, both parent breeds are sweethearts, so you should have a good dog on your hands regardless of who they favor. These dogs can figure out just about anything, and they can quickly master virtually any task you ask of them. If you try to convince them to stop chewing on your furniture, though, they may put their considerable brainpower to work trying to circumvent your command. Are These Dogs Good for Families? Older children will also be able to help train them, which would be helpful for both the kids and the dog. These dogs are extremely high-energy, so they do best in homes with large backyards for them to sprint around in. Given their high energy levels, you may want to bring in another pup just to give them someone else to play with. This is especially true if you have a yard large enough for the two pups to tear around at high speeds, as you can just turn them loose and let them tucker each other out. They have moderately strong herding instincts, so if you have smaller pets in the house, they may find themselves getting escorted all around the house. Your cat may not appreciate that, so monitor the situation as best you can. As with other dogs, your Sammypoo will accept other pets better if raised alongside them. Be careful about bringing home a new cat if you have an established, adult Sammypoo in the house. As a result, many people have no idea what to expect when bringing one home. Be mindful about what kind of food you serve them too. Obesity is terrible for any dog, but Sammypoos in particular. Watch out for ingredients like corn, soy, wheat, or animal by-products, as these are often used by lower-quality foods to add bulk while keeping costs low. Your dog will have difficulty processing these ingredients, though, so you should avoid them if possible. For omega fatty acids, look for ingredients like fish, flaxseed, or vegetable oils. It will take more than a stroll around the neighborhood to tucker this breed out although you should take them for walks, anyway. They need high-impact exercise, so consider enrolling them in something like agility training. Many Sammypoos love the water, so you might want to take them swimming or to the beach. This is a great way to burn off excess energy without putting a ton of stress on their joints. Taxing their mind is just as important as taxing their body. You can subject them to marathon training sessions, plan scavenger hunts, or give them puzzle toys to keep their noodles occupied. However, they definitely have a stubborn streak. First-time owners may not have the experience necessary to keep them in line. These pooches do best with positive reinforcement, so avoid harsh punishments. You should brush them every week or so just to corral any loose hair and prevent matting, though. In addition to whatever grooming you do, you should have a regular appointment set up with a professional groomer. You Sammypoo likely need their hair trimmed, and unless you have a steady hand, you should save your dog some embarrassment and leave the styling to the pros. These dogs need to be bathed more often than many other breeds, so expect to wash them once a month or so. Beyond that, you should brush their teeth daily , and trim their nails as needed. Clean out their ears at least once a week because if you let dirt and bacteria build up, it can lead to infection. However, there are a few things that you should look for. Minor Conditions. What is a Sammypoo? The Sammypoo is a mixed breed dog that is the offspring of two purebred parents: the Samoyed and the Standard Poodle. Both breeds are wonderful family dogs so it does not come as a surprise that both these breeds combined create such amazing pups! This mix has gained popularity in recent years, especially since both of its parents are highly active and intelligent. These dogs were originally bred to be family pets and this should be kept in mind when considering purchasing a Sammypoo. These dogs become attached to their families very quickly so they need to receive lots of love from the members of their new family! If you are looking for a dog that can live mostly indoors, then the Samoyed Poodle Mix is not the right match. This breed needs lots of time outdoors so keep this in mind before getting one as a house pet. The first time that the crossbreeding of a Samoyed and a Poodle was done was in by Barbara and Wallace Graham. They came up with this breed because they wanted to create an active, family-friendly dog that would also be hypoallergenic. Although the original purpose of the Samoyed Poodle Mix was not as a designer pup, it has become very popular with people looking for such dogs! Samoyed And Poodle Mix Appearance While this designer dog takes traits from both its parents, it generally looks more like the Samoyed than the Poodle because of its coat type. The Samoyed Poodle Mix has more of a medium-length coat so grooming is less intensive. Samoyed And Poodle Mix Colors The Samoyed and Poodle mix can come in a few different coat colors including white, cream, gold, red, brown-white, or grey. They also may have some tricolored spots to them. Generally speaking, though these dogs are going to be mostly white with brown to black markings on their ears and tails. Sammies have a thick undercoat that causes the hair around their muzzle and eyes to curl. It has a white fluffy coat and commonly has black spots on its eyes, ears, and nose. However, they can also be completely white in color with no spots at all. The ears of this dog are also covered in fur. Its medium-to-long muzzle has forward-facing eyes, which makes it look intelligent and alert. Its tail tends to be curly like that of the poodle, but only if it takes after its poodle parent. If it takes after its Samoyed parent then it will have a straight tail like any other can. Another trait that this breed tends to take after is the snout. Those who take after the Samoyed parent will have a short and compact nose, while those who take after the Poodle will have a long and sleek nose. Sammypoo Male dogs can grow up to 17 inches in height 43 centimeters and weigh anywhere between pounds .While females can be smaller, growing only 14 inches .Another thing to note is that even though both parents are relatively small, they can produce large litters. Meaning you should probably prepare yourself for a house filled with tiny pooches. Generally, the life expectancy is somewhere around 12 to 15 years. Male dogs tend to live a bit longer than females, but this can vary from dog to dog. Samoyed Poodle Mix Temperament and Personality When you breed a Samoyed and a Toy Poodle together, you get something that is affectionate, high energy, calm and loving. This dog also has a medium energy level so might not be ideal for an elderly person or someone looking for a quiet pet that stays in the house all day but still wants a companion around. Though this crossbreed is small, its personality is huge! They require at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day to keep their energy levels from going through the roof and causing havoc everywhere they go! This hybrid dog is intelligent and learns new things quickly, but because of their stubbornness, it may be better to stick with positive reinforcement training. Using treats as a reward for good behavior will keep your Sammypoo devoted to you and encourage it to do what you want. However, many SammyPoos do suffer from some of the same diseases and illnesses that their parents do. This causes a lot of pain for the dog and will eventually get so bad that it can no longer walk without limping. Another common ailment for this dog is epilepsy which causes seizures either from lack of sleep or following something that scares it. The Sammypoo can inherit this condition from its parents, but if you get the right kind of food and exercise, you can avoid it. Finally, because the Sammypoo is a hybrid dog that has some of the same conditions as its parent breeds, it may also have sensitive skin like a Poodle or a tendency to drool like a Samoyed. You can find out more at the AKC website. How much grooming does Sammypoo need? You still have to brush this pup every day to keep its coat shiny and healthy but because of the low shedding, this should be a quick process. The Samoyed Poodle cross is at risk for developing tooth decay and ear infections which are common in all types of dogs. Just make sure to use a lint roller every so often to keep that fur from attaching itself to your clothes and furniture. Is Samoyed Poodle Mix hypoallergenic? The Samoyed Poodle Mix may be hypoallergenic but this does not mean that it has no dander which is the main cause of allergies. Is Samoyed and Poodle Mix good with Children? How much exercise does the Samoyed Poodle cross need? Going for long walks is an easy way to give this guy some exercise and will help you bond with it too. Make sure that there are no off-leash areas nearby though because if it sees something that looks like fun then all bets are off. This pooch loves adventure just as much as you do so try hiking or swimming , anything where it can really use its legs to move quickly. Those long legs need a lot of stretching and exercising every day to keep them from cramping up, so get this poochie running around! Swimming is a great way to tire your pup out because it gives all four of its limbs a good workout. Can Samoyed Poodle Mix be left alone? The SammyPoo can also be prone to separation anxiety if left alone for too long. Is the Samoyed Poodle cross easy to train? Teaching the Samoyed Poodle cross basic obedience from a young age will make things much easier, and it wants nothing more than to please its family so in most cases it obeys commands well. This crossbreed is very intelligent, but training might be a bit of a challenge especially when it comes to housebreaking. Make sure that there are no off-leash areas nearby because if this pooch sees something that looks like fun then all bets are off! The Samoyed Poodle Mix is a great family pet, especially if your kids are older because this pooch loves running around and playing rather than being held all day! This hybrid can be a bit of a handful but it obeys commands well if you teach basic obedience from a young age, and it wants nothing more than to please its family. Samoyed Poodle Mix gets on well with older children that know how to display good leadership skills because this pooch loves running around and playing rather than being held all day. Teach your children how to behave properly just as you would with any other dog! If your child is having a rough day then this crossbreed may not be the best choice due to its small size. Is Samoyed Poodle Mix good with cats and other Animals? The Samoyed and Poodle Mix has a caring and affectionate nature but can sometimes be stubborn at times so socialization training is essential. Make sure that there are no off-leash areas nearby because if the SammyPoo sees something that looks like fun then all bets are off! Just like any dog, the SammyPoo needs early socialization to prevent aggression towards other animals. There is a myriad of reasons that someone might get a Samoyed Poodle cross. Some people just love the fluffy, adorable look of this breed and want to get one for themselves! Be prepared though, because once you bring this pup home, it will never leave. If you are a first-time dog owner and have a hectic lifestyle, this hybrid dog may not be the best choice for you. Skin conditions Allergies By getting your puppy from a reputable breeder, you can be sure your Sammypoo has been tested and cleared of certain health issues or at the very least, a trusted breeder can help prepare you and offer advice on dealing with inevitable future health risks. Feeding Because Sammypoos are very active, medium-sized dogs, you should be sure to feed them high quality kibble that is rich in nutrients and low on the kind of filler present in cheap dog food. Filler ingredients such as corn, wheat and soy are empty calories that only contribute to weight gain in your Sammypoo, which can exacerbate the joint issues he may face in old age. Since Sammypoos are prone to Hip and Elbow Dysplasia, adding supplements of fish oil, chondroitin and glucosamine to his diet from an early age will greatly benefit his joints as he grows. Are Samoyed Poodle Mixes Protective? Sammypoos are not known to be especially protective dogs. Though they may occasionally bark at strangers, this is more of an overly enthusiastic greeting style than an attack or show of protectiveness over their owners. Because Samoyeds are one of the most expensive and sought-after dog breeds out there, certain Sammypoo puppies could be marked up higher if the Samoyed parent comes from an award-winning, prestigious bloodline. Alternatively, you could consider re-homing or adopting a Sammypoo puppy from your local rescue center. If you live in a warmer climate, always take care to prevent heat stroke and dehydration in your Sammypoo, especially when they exercise. This means meeting their physical stimulation needs 60 to 90 minutes of exercise a day , as well as keeping them mentally stimulated with plenty of indoor play, petting and cuddle time. Many owners of highly active dogs recommend giving them a chewing horn to keep their mind occupied, but also to save your household from being chewed out of boredom instead! They are affectionate and love nothing more than to play with family members. Because they are such excitable balls of energy though, we would advise supervision with very small children in case of accidental knocks or injury. Also because of their Samoyed inherited instinct to be loyal to the pack, socializing among strangers and regular training will build up their tolerance to child visitors outside your home. Introducing them to fellow dogs at the park as often as you can during their early years will help them build up a tolerance and acceptance of other animals. labradoodle puppies for sale in indianapolis area - October 28, at pm I am very happy to rely to this slander of Melinda Radus, When I first applied to get a puppy from Melinda, my husband and I had to go through a screening process which took time which allowed her to get to know us. She wanted to be sure that the puppy would get a good home. I have two dogs from Melinda, Cara med who will be six years old on the 18th of November and Opal mini who will be five on the 10th of November, both of these dogs were in the family program, during the years I dealt with Melinda everything was about the dosgs well fare, neither of my dogs had puppies untill their second heat, and Cara who had her last lot of puppies in June this year only had four litters. Opal who had her last set of puppies in June this year only had three litters. During the years that I dealt with Sunset Hills Melinda made upgrades to the property and always took great care of the dogs in her care, she even went so far as to have a barbcue every year with an invite to the owner and for the dogs to come as well, this was so she could see and be sure they were all well. I have been thinking over the last almost six years and my association with Melinda and what took place was this. When I first got Cara, Melinda told me that she would not breed off Cara until she was at least a year old as she had to go through tests to make sure she reach certain standards. Also shortly after that I had to take Cara up to her place to go to the Vet to check out for this other test to make sure she met these standards so she could have puppies. Opal had to go through the same test before she was able to have puppies and again she was over a year old. I am an accountant, and I know that when all the puppies were born they had them DNA tested that is not cheap, and like any of who works, or are in business, no matter how much we may love what we do, we do expect that we willl gain some return for what we do, whether in wages or profit. I know that Melinda spent alot of time taking care of the dogs, and that is why she decided to sell her business, she has four children and they needed her attention and at times I am sure they probably missed out because she was delivering the puppies or taking car of the dogs. I know from experience what it is like when you have young children and you are runing a bussiness, some times it can pull you away from taking care of your family. I know of other families and their experience has been the same as mine. I believe that an old employee of the current company or possibily one of the carer home of whom I know Melinda had to take back a dog from, obiviouly, have spread lies that are unfounded. One more thing my dogs are in good health and are part of my family and also know of others who have been through this program and feel as I do. As to the new owners, I finished my contract that I signed with Melinda, this year with the new owners and they honoured that contract to the letter and during the time my girls where there I visited them and they were cared for as well as they were when Melinda was there. As to the barking some one mentioned I ave been there many times and stay for quite a while and there was not alot of barking going on escept for my two dogs who wanted my attention. Also I might add, yes sometimes there may have been more that twenty dogs there but only because Melinda took care of my dogs if I went away on vacation, so again you are wrong they were not all there to have puppies as you suggest. This Ubique Larkhill, I would bet is not their real name, and I would also suggest that who ever you are are just looking for attention. By neutering this puppy you are basically destroying its future Would you consider neutering this puppy? The RSPCA spays and castrates at this age, and apparently believes it is ethically and morally acceptable to do so. As do some breeders, rescue centres and a few vets. There is a breeder in Cardiff who was called Lisa Carson now remarried and so not Carson anymore but now Lisa Joyaa Rose I would recommend that no one buys any dogs or puppies from this woman. She neuters her Labradoodle pups, both standard and minis, at six to seven weeks of age. She states it is a contractual obligation from the Australian Labradoodle Association. Simple, do not be part of an organisation that suggests this horrific practice. There are only a few members in the UK and as far as I am concerned they are barbaric animal abusers. She is not the only breeder in this country to follow this disgraceful practice. I really hope she can sleep at night. However, I know of no other breed other than Australian Labradoodle where this is happening on a regular basis. She states it is to keep the bloodline pure. Unless I am sadly mistaken, Labradoodles are not pedigree dogs, they are what is euphemistically known as mongrels. The two main kennels involved in the breeding of these dogs in Australia have apparently been discredited. And I believe are no longer operating or trading. Why is it only Australian Labradoodle breeders do this? If I was a cynic, I would say they did it to limit the number of Australian Labradoodle puppies on the market. Thereby keeping the vastly inflated prices artificially high. More profit for the breeders. How dare they? Is that why these dogs are so ludicrously priced? Some for breeding purposes have been sold for far higher amounts. Choose a puppy who has been neutered at this age at your peril. See what the leading rescue charities and the Kennel Club have to say about this disgusting practice at the bottom of this page. I wrote this article in and this woman is still peddling her bundles of misery in .Neutering is one of the reasons this is happening. See my article and Video Clips on how to stop this. In nearly all cases aggression increased with neutering in both male and female dogs. The opposite of what we have regularly been told. If they imagine that it has no effect on the young pups then why is it that my records show that early neutering is the cause of high levels of medical and behavioural problems? That and the fact that many well-known vets and oncologists are stating that dogs that are neutered early can have severe medical conditions, cancer, spay incontinence, bone, hip, and knee problem are just some of them. Welfare organisation and the Kennel Club have stated their horror at learning this was done to puppies at this age. If you are concerned about this and other aspects of health, then read this as well I have recently written about the very real dangers of Annual Vaccinations. Read this and prepare to be shocked and frightened regarding the health and well-being of your dog. The picture on the right shows a three-week-old puppy. Would you 3 weeks later, take this pup from it mum and put it through a major operation? I saw some posts on a forum recently where this breeder in Wales Lisa Carson trotted out a previous client to confirm that the dogs she bought were perfectly healthy. That client was warned by many people including myself, but still went ahead and bought these puppies. She conveniently forgot to mention that one of them has Hip Dysplasia. When it was pointed out, she said her vet said it, was because of the way it was lying in the womb. If you believe that you will believe anything. She is still defending her decision to buy puppies that were neutered at such a tender age. I wonder if they have any idea why these puppies are born with three essential hormones. Progesterone, Oestrogen and Testosterone. Do they imagine those hormones are surplus to requirements, just an inconvenient extra that has been thrown in like the Sat Nav on a car? Imagine the outcry if it was done to our children at such a sensitive period in these puppies lives. Tinkering with nature at such a young age must have a cost and consequences I believe that it has severe and life-changing effects. As a Dog Behaviourist, I see the effects these actions have on the well-being, health and behaviour of these poor dogs. I kept records of all the dogs I treated for behavioural problems post onwards. The majority of the problem dogs I treated, were neutered before they reached social and physical maturity. The amount and severity of problems I saw increased exponentially the earlier the dog was neutered It beggars belief that any organisation. To put them through a major operation at such a critical and tender age is a national disgrace. In my humble opinion, I believe it constitutes serious animal abuse. I believe these actions may contravene the Animal Welfare Act of .The bill, possibly the most important legislative move on captive and domestic animals since the Protection of Animals Act of , came into effect on 6th April .It makes owners and keepers responsible for ensuring that the welfare needs of their animals are met. These requirements include the following: The need: 1. For a suitable environment place to live 2. For a suitable diet 3. To exhibit normal behaviour patterns 4. To be housed with, or apart from, other animals if applicable 5. To be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease I believe the RSPCA needs investigating, as I feel it may be abusing its status as a charity, by what I can only describe as intimidation. Acting as if they have official status when they have no more powers than any other member of the general public. We donate to help real cats and real dogs, NOT fat cats and dirty dogs! You could be the next innocent victim of their war on pet owners Stan Rawlinson September .Updated regularly as further information on neutering is made public. Last update July Read further articles. October 31, at pm I have two of the dogs on the list and they live at my home with my family. My dogs go back to Sunset Hills for grooming which is free for family care homes , breeding and my family has been to their yearly get-togethers so we have been to the Sunset Hills property many times. The yearly get-togethers are a family fun day where the Labradoodles and their people families gather for a few hours. She sold the company to a group wishing to use the Australian Labradoodle as therapy dogs in nursing homes. She kept clients well aware of what was happening and provided information sessions with the family care families and the new owners during the changeover period. I never witnessed any ill-treatment of the dogs, it was just the property aesthetics. The Sunset Hills property has since been considerably upgraded and now looks fantastic. It has many areas for new litters to stay safely with their mums and plenty of space for all dogs to adequately exercise. Dogs are not kept at Sunset Hills long term. New puppies either: Get sold locally as pets or the occasional breeding dog; Are sent overseas to become therapy dogs in nursing homes, or; Join a family care home if they are considered suitable candidates for breeding. These dogs get medical testing at around 12 months old to confirm. If the test results show they are not suitable for breeding, Sunset Hills arranges their desexing and they live permanently with and belong to their family care family. If the test results show they are suitable for breeding they live with their family care family except when required for breeding. Sunset Hills may require the dogs for up to six years for breeding. After this time, or earlier at their discretion, they will arrange for the dog to be desexed and live permanently with and belong to their family care family. My family and I love our two Australian Labradoodles for whom we are the family care home. They are looked after well when they visit Sunset Hills, as are all the other dogs we see there.
