Breeding the Poodle to a Border Collie greatly reduces or can even eliminate shedding. The Border Collie — Poodle cross is a great choice for people who enjoy the attributes and intelligence of a Border Collie and want a non-shedding coat. Any way you name it, the dogs are highly intelligent and great looking too! Growing up, Border Collies were my breed of choice, and they were amazing, but the shedding and over the top drive to work all day every day was more than I can handle in my current lifestyle. Introducing, the Bordoodle. Bordoodle puppies excel in Agility, as service dogs or therapy dogs, and as fun loving pets enjoying day to day life with their owners. The typical family that does well with a Bordoodle wants an active family pet to compliment their lifestyle. Our families take their dogs hiking, backpacking, cross country skiing, paddleboarding, to the lake, beaches, and more. We definitely produce dogs that are more chill and laid back, but our families getting a Bordoodle really want that high intelligence factor. Bordoodles make an incredible Agility, Performance sports or just an overall amazing trail buddy. Our Border Collies come from incredible herding lines and are great all around dogs. See Available and upcoming litters here! They love to play games, go on hikes, and be part of the family. Bordoodles love kids and get along well with other animals. They don't usually bark, except to warn of a stranger on your property. Bordoodles are usually hypoallergenic and are low to non-shedding. Bordoodles also excel in agility sports and are super desirable as service dogs due to their high I. We ask that you provide detailed answers whenever possible. Our Bordoodles are very smart, patient, intuitive, and level-headed. These are the ideal traits required in all service dogs regardless of the modality. In addition to our breeding program, Mountain Rose also owns the largest training operation in Utah. He can also be a bit stubborn but overall a complete joy. He rings his bell to go out to potty, at only 17 weeks can sit, stay, go down, roll over, leave it when treats are placed on his paws very impressive for a little guy , shake a paw or high 5 and has the best and most entertaining personality. He loves people and from what little interaction he has had with other dogs, seems to love them as well. We couldn't be happier with our newest family member. We really enjoyed meeting all the dogs, especially Flower and Finn. Of course, we also enjoyed the chance to speak with you and your trainers Colton and Daniel. Mountain Rose exceeded our expectations. After getting to play with the dogs in person, learning more about your program and seeing for ourselves how the puppies are being raised, we are even more excited about getting a puppy from Mountain Rose. Our fingers are crossed that Flower comes into heat soon! We also enjoyed seeing the Bordoodles at your daughter's house. Jonathan was very accommodating in showing us all five Bordoodles. They were very excited and fun to meet. Thanks again for your hospitality. She originally had reservations about us buying a Bordoodle. She said that she was unfamiliar with this breed and cautioned us and even advised that we may wish to look at a "purebred" dog. We just wanted to share that with you. He has really fit into our family and it's so fun watching him learn our routine. He's made friends with lots of the neighborhood kids and is super friendly with everyone. I take him to puppy school once a week with our son Carter he's 9 because Carter was having some trouble being the "pack leader" when we first got Gussie, but the puppy school has been great and Gus lights up the second Carter gets off the school bus each day. I attached a couple of pictures for you to see how much he's grown! She's so smart that at 4 months old she can play dead when she is shot with a "bang", she can heal like nobody's business, and she sits like a lady waiting for us to open the door before she goes out or comes in. She gets her treats in her bowl after dinner. All in all she's pretty terrific. He is definitely part of our family and we love him so much. He's such a smart dog! I remember when we first got him, his color was black. You said he would likely lighten up. Here's what he looks like now. The latest from Oregon Bordoodles! Check us out on Facebook for the latest news, upcoming litters and fun antics. Testimonials Wilder, now 3 month old, is awesome. He loves all of us, loves to please, and loves to explore and learn. Several neighbors and friends are jealous, and others have asked to help them with theirs. However, we met one of your older dogs at a restaurant last year, asked the owner about him, and immediately began researching Oregon Bordoodles. She is the most personable, intelligent dog I have ever owned. When we started looking into getting a Bordoodle we were fortunate to find Danielle, who answered all our many questions and worked closely with us throughout the process of picking a puppy and finally bringing our baby home. He is a spunky, energetic, loving dog. He loves to play and he is very brilliant. He can learn tricks in 10 minutes and will remember them forever. All of our lives have changed with his presence, but we would not trade him for any dog! It has been pure ease and love on every step of our journey. Lassie Grace is a love, with over the top energy and enthusiasm for life, hikes miles easily, with daily mile walks. Strong, muscular, guardian of her domain, still very puppy with ongoing training as she matures, never met a stranger human or canine , shining star at the vet and groomer they all love her disposition and they send me compliment notes on the joy she brings into their work space. She is high test energy yet mellows and melts right into you for love, confidently submissive, a total kid dog. The puppies were happy and at play in their warm and loving farm environment. We picked our female, red merle pup and named her Daisy. Danielle has provided us with excellent technical and emotional support as Daisy has grown. We love our year and half year old Bordoodle. Daisy is extremely cheerful, freindly and smart. She enjoys all ages of people, especially children. She is low shedding and rarely barks. As a very active dog, she requires consistent and lively exercise and play. Daisy is a great addition to our family and we love her dearly! Are you wondering what a "Bordoodle" is? Bordoodles are extremely intelligent, friendly and eager to please. They get along well with other dogs and children and are very easy to train. Bordoodles are often referred to as a "designer breed" or "Poodle Hybrid" which is not, technically, true, as all dogs are the same species. Contact Us BorDoodles Bordoodles are a wonderful mix of big brains and big hearts. Perfect for those looking for an active, intelligent companion. Our bordoodles are a mix of border collie and poodle. In this cross we hope to harness the intelligence and working drive of the border collie as well as the less serious nature and allergy friendly coat of the poodle. About Border Collies: Border collies consistently rank 1 on lists of most intelligent dog breeds and over the years we have found that to be very accurate. The border collie is an incredible athlete, amazingly intelligent and intuitive and has boundless energy for work and play. People typically revere these dogs for just those reasons. Whip smart, capable of amazing athletic feats and always eager to learn, the border order collie ranks highly on my list of favorite dog breeds and has since I rescued my first BC years ago. With all of that said, border collies are NOT for everyone because they are so smart, athletic and energetic. A bored border collie can be a nightmare. In the right hands they are awesome and in the wrong hands or inexperienced hands they can be a handful for sure. About Poodles: The poodle is a sporting dog, bred for cold water retrieving. In fact, poodles also consistently rank in the top 3 most intelligent breeds. They are also incredible athletes and have lots of energy. They do tend to be more low key than a border collie but they were also bred to work long hours in the field so we should not kid ourselves into thinking they are just a pretty ornamental breed. I have very much enjoyed the goofy, playful personalities of our poodles over the years and obviously the no shedding factor is a plus as well. Our poodles are eager to please, quick learners and all around great dogs. See our Doodle FAQs! The Bordoodle is best suited for active families. Bordoodle puppies learn super fast but they also require lots of mental and physical exercise to keep them content. If you are someone who enjoys more lazy days and naps on the couch, a bordoodle is not the dog for you. If, however, you love to lead an active life, and are prepared to add your dog to your adventures these pups might be a great addition to your family. Our bordoodles are excellent hiking and jogging partners, will excel at dog sports and many of them love to swim. Active families willing to commit to the training and exercise needs of this breed will find a fabulous, well rounded companion dog with the energy to keep up with all of your adventures. Our puppies can go home at 8 weeks and will have been vet checked, had first round of vaccines, been microchipped and dewormed. Visit our FAQ page for information around shedding, doodle generations, and more. Picks of the litter are made in the order deposits are received. Pictures of our past Bordoodle pups! Get In Touch! Although a hybrid breed can take on any combination of characteristics of one or both of the parent breeds, the Bordoodle tends to be a friendly, affectionate, and loyal family dog. The Bordoodle is a playful, loving, and affectionate family dog. They get along well with children, other pets, and other dogs. They can be protective and initially wary of strangers, but do not tend to be aggressive as long as they have been properly socialized. As with any dog breed, poor socialization or training can result in poor behavior including fear-based aggression. But, these dogs generally have a lively, social, and friendly disposition. Although the Bordoodle tends to have a lot of energy, they can adapt well to just about any living situation. They will do well in large homes with room to roam as well as apartments as long as they get enough exercise, mental stimulation, and attention. They also do well in most climates. As with any dog, they are sensitive to heat and extreme cold. Because Bordoodles bond closely with their families, they thrive on attention and affection. This, paired with the fact that they are easily bored, means they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. A mixed breed can inherit the potential health concerns of one, both, or neither of the parent breeds. For the Bordoodle, potential health concerns to be aware of include allergies, epilepsy , hip dysplasia, and progressive retinal atrophy. Responsible breeders will screen their stock to ensure preventable issues are not being passed on to puppies. Bordoodles tend to be highly intelligent. Although they are eager to please and tend to pick up on things quickly, they are also easily bored. This can pose a challenge for some first-time dog owners. But, overall, the Bordoodle tends to be highly trainable and a good fit for dog owners of all experience levels. They are eager to learn and respond best to positive methods focused on praise and rewards. Puppy training classes are always an option and are a great way to socialize a puppy too. When it comes to coat care, the Border Collie is lower maintenance than the Poodle even though they shed more. You need to be prepared for either type of coat or anything in between with your Bordoodle. The Poodle coat may be low-shedding, but it requires daily brushing and almost monthly grooming in order to stay healthy. The Border Collie coat sheds moderately year-round with heavier shedding sessions twice a year as the seasons change. Brushing a Border Collie is on a weekly basis and bathing is as needed. Weekly ear checks with careful cleaning as needed can help prevent ear infections. The Bordoodle can range from moderate to high energy. Daily walks plus some playtime and time to run should be sufficient to keep this dog happy and healthy. Trips to the dog park, playing frisbee, hiking, running, swimming with your dog , and more can all be great activities for you and your Bordoodle to do together. A fully-grown Bordoodle usually stands inches tall at the shoulder and weighs pounds. A Bordoodle generally lives years. Bordoodle Puppies for Sale.
The most common clinical signs of hormonal abnormalities are: Chronic chewing of the coat Excessive scratching Chronic licking Obesity Golden Retrievers that are overweight can also develop hyperpigmentation. In this case change in skin color will occur in areas around the legs, belly, and groin. Blueberry Belly In Golden Retriever Puppies In Golden Retriever puppies, you will more often notice a blueberry belly instead of a black belly, but the causes and symptoms are similar. Blueberry belly is common in Golden Retrievers, but if you notice other symptoms following the change in skin pigmentation, you should visit your vet. Conclusion As we see, many factors can cause a change in skin pigmentation of your Golden Retriever. Some are more serious than others, but all of them require appropriate treatment. He will then perform all the necessary testing to identify the underlying cause and determine the appropriate treatment. My faithful companion, Toby, is a Corgi who means the world to me. I'm passionate about building strong bonds with dogs and providing them with all the love and care they deserve. Check out all our favorite golden retriever products: Best Golden Retriever Products What Causes the Black Pigment to the Skin There are a number of things that can cause a darker pigmentation to the skin of your dog. Some of them are not a big deal, while others will require the help of your vet. Some of the most common reasons include: Allergic Reaction Your Golden Retriever could be experiencing issues with allergies , including grains and pollen. They will keep scratching the area that is infected because they are uncomfortable and this will cause some redness and scabs to appear. If you are worried about the scabs or the skin starts to go from red to a darker shade, it is time to go to the vet and see if an allergy is the culprit here. Your vet can help you figure out what is causing the allergic reaction so you can prevent the skin darkening throughout. This can also make your dog more comfortable. Bruising Some accidents, like a bruise or a cut, will affect the skin condition for your Golden Retriever. This will happen because some of the cells that are near the infected area will get affected, making it hard for them to properly work. Sometimes this condition will get worse even after the healing is all done. Cells that have undergone some damage will notice that they have alterations to their own structure, which can cause an excessive amount of melanin to be produced. This shows up on the skin as black to show where the injuries are sustained. Aging Older dogs are more likely to have skin that turns black and areas that have hair fall out. There are a number of reasons for this. The skin may be bruised and worn out after so many years. It could be that the Golden Retriever spent too much time outside in the sun, which could darken the skin. There are different reasons that this skin darkening will happen, but it is more likely to show up the older the dog is. Licking There are a number of reasons why your dog may be licking themselves. The problem will show up when the dog seems to constantly licking their bellies and paws. This is going to irritate the skin, causing some of the hair to start to fall off and the skin will darken. It may get bad enough that the skin starts to look black because a sore is developing in that area. You can try a dog bootie to help deter you dog from licking its paws. If the area is infected, it is going to be painful to the dog. Even if you notice that the skin is darkening due to the licking, it is important to talk with your vet to make sure that a skin infection is not the thing to blame. Your vet can also discuss some of the steps that you can use to prevent licking in the future. Skin Infections Certain types of infections in the skin could cause it to turn black. This is most likely to happen when the condition is contagious and it can spread from one pet to another. You may notice a lot of scratching before this occurs. If you do not take care of the skin condition, it can discharge a bad odor and form scaly and bad skin in that area. During the summer months when our Golden likes to swim he often suffers from skin infections. A bath with this anti-fungi shampoo usually does the trick to clear it up before a vet trip is needed. Visit your vet as soon as possible when you notice some of the signs of an infection. They can do a diagnosis to figure out what is causing problems and give the right antibiotics to help fight off the infection and keep your Golden Retriever safe. Primary hyper-pigmentation This condition is one that will make the area of the skin that is affected look brown and can eventually turn it to black. The area affected will be thick and rough and is often found in some of the hairless areas of the stomach. Over time, it can turn red to show that there is an infection and if the dog owner does not provide the proper care, it can lead to hair loss around that infected area. The best treatment is to have some soothing medication to help prevent some of the itching that shows up. Try an anti- seborrheic medicated dog shampoo to give you dog some relieve. Secondary Hyper-Pigmentation This is another skin condition that can cause the area to turn black. It is triggered more from inflammation on the skin. If the skin of your Golden Retriever is inflamed, there will be several other characteristics including pain, skin thickness, hair loss, a bad odor, and a lot of itching from your dog. This type of condition will happen when your dog has been affected by contact dermatitis, skin infections, hormonal abnormalities and obesity. Sometimes it is caused by a parasite. It is best to visit your vet when you see this to see what is causing the issue and what you can do to help prevent it. Both this and the skin condition above can be really serious. If you are concerned about this being the issue for your Golden Retriever, you need to get assistance right away. The only way to deal with them is with the help of your vet and they can provide antibiotics and other great options to keep your dog safe and comfortable. Never let these conditions continue on. Doing so will make the situation a whole lot worse. Can the Skin Color Go Back? This will depend on the dog and how long the skin condition went on. There are some situations, when they are caught early enough, where the Golden Retriever can get their normal skin tone back, or can at least lighten up some of the dark spots that are on their stomachs. However, there are times when the dark skin is here to stay and there is not much that the pet owner can do. Outside of looking bad and not being as attractive looking as the lighter skin, the darker skin will not be a problem, as long as you have visited the vet and completed your treatment for the dog. The dark skin may be around to stay for a bit. This is not going to harm your dog, as long as they got the proper treatment. If you notice the dark or black skin and have not given your dog the right treatment, then it is important to get in and see a vet as soon as possible. Final Thoughts If you notice that your Golden Retriever starts to have dark or black skin all of a sudden, especially if they have lighter skin to start with, then it is important you take them into the vet. This is often a sign that something is wrong. The sooner you can take your Golden Retriever in and get the situation under control, the easier it is on you and your pet.

German Shepherd Pitbull Mix Video Temperament They have a calm nature and somewhat affectionate nature that can be enhanced with proper training. The German Pit is loyal to its family, enjoying spending time with them. Though they may not need your attention always, contented enough to spent some time on their own, leaving them alone for prolonged periods might make them destructive. Since they take on the genes of the German Shepherd and Pitbull, the Pit-German Shepherd mix may inherit their guarding instincts to a certain extent, being protective towards its family and exhibiting wariness towards strangers. It could even be territorial with other dogs and get into a chasing mode on encountering smaller pets. While allowing them to interact with children ensure there is proper parental supervision and the dog has been well socialized. Care Exercise It has a high exercise need, requiring two brisk walks a day, along with sufficient playtime. Keeping its excessive energy levels in mind it is not recommended to keep it in an apartment or enclosed space as it might get restless. Remember to leash it while taking it out. Grooming Though it does not need excessive grooming, brushing your Shepherd Pit with a brush having hard bristles on a weekly basis would be sufficient enough. It might resent grooming in the beginning, so you need to handle it gently and use positive reinforcements if needed, to help it get accustomed. Bathe it when it gets dirty and also check its ears and eyes once a week to keep any infections at bay. Brushing its teeth and trimming its nails are also essential. Health Problems Though healthy, the German Pit might inherit some of the conditions suffered by its parents like bloating, hip and elbow dysplasia, allergies, hypothyroidism and heart problems. Training Training the German Shepherd mixed with Pitbull since its puppy days is mandatory, though an experienced master is preferred over a novice trainer. Socialization: Having the genes of German Shepherd and Pitbull, it might exhibit aggression and biting instinct, for which early socialization is a must. Teach it to differentiate between a threat and a pleasant situation so that your pet understands that a crying baby or playful kids playing in the yard is not bad. Feeding Feeding it cups good quality dry dog food in combination with a nutritious homemade diet would be sufficient. You can expect moderate shedding from this crossbreed. Be prepared to use a vacuum cleaner often. Most German Sheppits will come in a variety of colors like tan, black, white, fawn, and gray. Some have beautiful multi-colored coats like the GSD, while others inherit the brindle coats of their Pittie parents. Because of its moderate shedding, the German Pit is not the ideal dog for people who suffer from allergies to dander. Is a Shepherd-Pitbull mix dangerous? As we mentioned before, this breed is often negatively associated with being aggressive. A Shepherd Pit Bull mix is a loyal, intelligent, protective, and bold dog that likes spending time with his family. This canine has a calm and loving personality toward its owner, but it can be an attention-grabber, too. She loves nothing more than to run, play Frisbee, and roll around all day. Just make sure that your German Pitbull mix puppy is introduced correctly to small kids. Proper socialization and training are crucial because these dogs tend to chase down smaller animals. They may also have a dominant personality and may try to be the alpha to other dogs. Being raised with other pets will help this crossbreed co-exist with them. With early training and socialization, this naturally friendly and affectionate dog is an excellent choice for a family pet and the perfect companion for children. How much activity does this crossbreed need? A Pitbull German Shepherd hybrid has a strong and robust physique and he requires plenty of physical activity. You can take your dog on a one-hour jog or run in the morning and a minute walk in the evening to keep him in the excellent physical condition and as release excess energy. Without a proper exercise regimen, he may exhibit unruly and destructive behaviors like excessive barking, hole-digging, or chewing on slippers. Remember to keep it slow with a German Pit puppy because his legs are shorter. After that age, you can increase your speed as long as he can keep up. He can also have some playtime, like romping in the dog park. Or maybe play some fetch and let him catch a frisbee so his brain gets a workout, too. These crossbreeds require a high level of physical and mental activity to be in their best form. How to train Pitbull German Shepherd mix puppies The unfortunate truth is that this hybrid is not easy to train and is not suited for first-time dog owners. You need to be a firm and confident alpha , or he will try to control you. Be patient and try not to give in. Socializing him at an early age helps him interact better with other animals and encourages a better sense of adaptability in the dog. Socialization also fixes anxious and timid behavior and will help your pet get along with your family members. This breed may be intelligent, but he has a certain level of stubbornness when it comes to training. This hybrid tends to bark quite frequently, too, so you may want to include a routine that will help you control excessive barking. Try including crate training and leash training in your sessions. Starting it young is the best way to train a German Sheppit. The best age to start would be at seven weeks old. An adult dog can still receive training, although it will be more difficult. These are the most common health concerns to watch out for in your German Sheppit:. Conclusion 1. What does a German Shepherd Pitbull Mix look like? It is impossible to tell with certainty what the dog will look like when it is a mixed breed. What we do know is that this breed is more likely to have the face of the Pitbull, with a broad head and a short muzzle. As for coloring, this breed comes in a variety of colors: black, white, brown, tan, gray and fawn. Given that both the Pitbull and German Shepherd have strong physiques, it is not surprising that this mixed breed does too. Fully grown, these dogs are large , as mentioned in the first paragraph their average weight between lbs 29 — 38 kgs , so it is important that you have her under control. You can do this by properly training and socializing her. What characteristics can I expect? As with all crossbreeds, it is not easy to say precisely what temperament this dog will have, as it will always be a different combination. In my experience, however, they tend to have the following traits: High energy All dogs need regular exercise to stay fit, and this large breed usually needs a whole lot. I recommend at least a one-hour walk a day, providing you have an outdoor space where she can release excess energy for the rest of the day. By giving her the exercise she needs, you will avoid undesired behaviors such as slipper-chewing, hole-digging or nuisance barking. As long as she gets her exercise needs met, she will be happy to settle down and relax with you. Loyal and loving Pitbull German Shepherd mixes are very affectionate dogs when raised right. While they are good at entertaining themselves, they still love to be around you and make a good family dog. This dog can have a very protective nature. This is due to its German Shepherd relatives , who were bred to herd and guard livestock. To prevent this from the outset, you should socialize her with people as much as possible from an early age. Intelligence Both the Pitbull and the German Shepherd are incredibly intelligent breeds. It is no surprise, then, that this mix is no exception. These dogs learn quickly and respond incredibly well to training and commands. Just as you exercise her body, it is important to keep her mind stimulated, too. You should start training at the earliest possible stage. It is important to keep a close eye on this type of behavior because, if it gets out of control, it can turn into aggression. What are the common health problems? Providing that she has a healthy lifestyle, as we mentioned above this breed can live for up to 12 years. Every dog breed is susceptible to certain health difficulties, however, and it is good to be aware of these so that you can treat your dog accordingly. In the meantime, it is worth knowing that this breed can suffer from the following diseases: Skin irritation The Pitbull German Shepherd mix can be prone to skin irritation, which they inherit from the Pitbull side of its family. They tend to have more sensitive skin, which can react strongly to insect bites as well as to fleas and ticks. To prevent this reaction, make sure you use a high-quality tick and flea treatment. Diet also plays an important part in maintaining the health of the skin. Hip Dysplasia Hip dysplasia is a condition that can begin in dogs as they grow and results in an unstable or loose hip joint. While weight management is essential for any dog breed, it is highly important that this breed maintains a healthy weight to avoid stressing the hip joint. How much will I need to groom her? This mix has a coat that can range from short to medium in length. I recommend starting your grooming regime when she is a puppy so that she can get used to the routine. I do not advise over-bathing these dogs no more than once a month due to their tendency to skin irritation. It may also be worth buying a shampoo specifically designed for dogs with sensitive skin. German Pits are usually floppy-eared, which means they get less air circulation and are therefore more prone to earwax build-up and ear infections. I advise that you get her ears checked at least monthly, either at the vet or with a reputable groomer. So is the German Pit the right fit for me? After all the information you have read, it is now important to put this question to yourself. As you can see, these dogs have the potential to be lovely, loyal dogs that are ideal for a family. Yet they require a lot of attention, walking and training, so they need a dedicated, and preferably experienced, dog owner. Conclusion Here are the main points to consider before committing to owning one of these dogs: Are you an experienced dog owner? Are you dedicated to walking your dog at least an hour a day? Do you have a spacious house with a yard, or can you walk her twice daily? Are you able to provide a rigorous and dedicated training routine? If not, it might be time to reconsider getting a different breed of dog. Do you own a German Shepherd Pitbull Mix? Leave a comment below and tell me all about it! The breed was developed to be intelligent, strong, agile, and protective of flocks, all qualities that made it successful in its line of work. The German shepherd is used in police work, detection, service work, and search and rescue. German shepherd pitbull mixes often inherit the protective, hardworking temperament, strength, and wolf-like features of the German shepherd. The dogs were bred from terriers and bulldogs and used in blood sports like bullbaiting and dogfighting. American pitbull terriers were later selectively bred in the United States to have the muscular builds, sizes, and affectionate temperaments seen today. With proper socialization, American pitbull terriers make loyal, well-behaved companions. These dogs can be trained with positive reinforcement from an early age to not bark excessively. Left alone, German sheppits often experience anxiety and engage in destructive behavior, like barking and scratching, to cope. While smart and not fussy over food, these dogs need plenty of exercise, training, and mental stimulation to stay happy. Food Needs A German sheppit adult should be fed 2 to 3. About three hours a day of activity is recommended. Agility training, hiking, walking, running, or playing around a yard will keep them happy. Check their ears for debris and pests daily and clean them as recommended by your vet. They should not be clicking against the floor. Your groomer can help with this. One of the toughest jobs when caring for a German Shepherd Pit Bull is maintaining their oral health. You should brush their teeth daily, as many breeds are prone to dental issues. Vets or groomers are good at performing this messy task. You should consult your veterinarian or professional pet nutritionist for advice on what to feed your German Shepherd Pit Bull and the correct portion sizes. Their dietary needs will change as they grow from puppyhood to adulthood and into their senior years. Stay on top of these nutritional requirements. Their German Shepherd parents grow very rapidly between the ages of four and seven months, making them susceptible to bone disorders. They do well on a high-quality, low-calorie diet that keeps them from growing too fast. Overfeeding your German Shepherd Pit Bull and letting them pack on the pounds can cause joint problems, as well as other health conditions. Limit treats, keep them active, and serve them regular meals rather than leaving food available at all times. The main colors of German Shepherd Pit Bulls coats are brown, black, white, grey, tan, and fawn. Almost never solid, their coats are generally a mixture of two or more colors. They usually have short thick coats, and this mixed breed is not recommended for people with allergies. They tend to shed quite a bit and you may need to pick up a RoboVac. These pups will require at least three good brushes per week. Brushing will also help to spread the oils throughout the coat. German Shepherd Pit Bulls may be able to handle some extreme weather conditions for short periods of time. These dogs must live indoors with their families. However their size could put them at a disadvantage around smaller children. They could easily accidentally knock over a toddler. No matter how friendly, no dog should ever be left unsupervised with a small child. German Shepherd Pit Bulls can get along well other dogs, especially if raised with them. Socialization early on is a must for this mixed breed. For a better understanding of this breed read more about their parent breeds, the German Shepherd and American Pit Bull Terrier. However, you may want to try German Shepherd Dog or American Pit Bull Terrier breed specific rescues, as they often care for mixes, as well. Here are some rescues you can try:. Temperament: It depends. A German Pit dog can be gentle, loving and protective of its family. It will like to be top dog and may challenge authority but with proper training it will learn who the master is. It gets bored easily. They cannot be left alone for long periods of time, or they can become noisy and naughty. Feelings and signals: Dogs communicate in many ways from playing to barking. Never approach a dog with its tail way down! How should you train a German Shepherd Pitbull Mix? With patience! There are several types of training required: obedience, discipline, agility and socialization. Each is important to help this type of puppy learn to socialize and behave. This looks like a dangerous dog so it is important to train it to challenge perceptions and show people the best of this breed instead. How do you begin puppy training? It will take time, patience, with positive reinforcement, using praise and small treats as a reward for success. So, if you are not going to use a professional dog trainer — Here are some tips to begin: 1 Develop your basic command words: Find the keywords you think you will use most like Sit, Stop, and Fetch etc. It will become its nest and it will feel safe and sleep there. Any mix from purebred dogs, could have congenital health problems. A German Shepherd and an American Pitbull Terrier cross breed could develop: Hip Dysplasia Hip dysplasia is a mal-formation of the hip joint, where the ball at the top of the leg does not fit properly into the socket and the ligaments attaching it are weak. This allows excess movement of the fitting which can eventually lead to stiffness and pain for the dog. This active dog could have hip problems, causing pain when moving. Early warning signs are — stiffness when getting up or walking, reluctance to get up when prompted and its usual walking style can change. It can occur early or later in life. The only way to check is to trace the health history of the birth parents. There is no cure but a Vet will help with medication to manage the pain. Skin problems Atopic dermatitis They can develop allergies causing skin conditions and itching — from grass, mold, pollen etc. Bloat Gastric Dilatation-volvulus Affects many deep-chested, larger dog breeds that like to eat large volumes quickly, drink too much water after eating or even eat too close to exercising. Early signs are: restlessness after eating, a bloated stomach and an inability to reject excess air or food through ineffective retching. In each case it is important to seek medical help! Exercise: This will be a very active dog, with lots of energy and need lots of exercise. They like to play chase and fetch. A puppy needs hours of exercise every day and more when older otherwise it will get bored. It will love running around and adventures but not adapt to small spaces. Therefore not suited to apartment living. Remember: Puppies should not be exercised too much on hard ground as their paws are still delicate so a mix of hard and softer ground is recommended until they are at least 2 years of age. Leash training is strongly recommended for discipline, safety and control in the early years. Feeding: Feed as an active large-sized dog with a recommended type of specially-formulated dry food. A Vet will advise the food type, exact amount, how often and if they need extra mineral and vitamins. Puppies should have their daily amount split into 3 daily feeds. Be careful not to over-feed them as weight gain can put pressure on their hips. Grooming: This dog has a short to medium length coat of hair that does shed but not too much so it only needs to be brushed times a week. A good brush is recommended. Bathing: This dog has short hair like the Pitbull so bathing is only recommended when needed, but not too often as their coats contain natural oil; which can be stripped with over-bathing. Certain shampoos have the double effect of cleaning the coat and protecting it against fleas and insect bites. Chewing helps, so use doggie chew toys, bare bones, soft tooth brushes and toothpaste. Nails grow quickly and need to be trimmed regularly, say once a month, and checked for infection. Their floppy ears need to be regularly checked for dirt build-up or infection. Anything unusual should be checked by a Vet. What is life like for a GSPM? Otherwise, with their high energy levels they may show their boredom through destroying or chewing things and barking. They can make a great family dog. Remember just how active this dog is before choosing one. How much does it cost? Always best to adopt rather than buy if you can. Adopting a German Shepherd Pitbull mix from an adoption center is the best thing you can do. It can be life changing — not only for the dog but to you as well. He requires a low-to-medium maintenance level due to its short coat and a moderate amount of shedding. Brushing his coat can be done weekly, or three times a week if you are the type of person who is greatly bothered by scattered dog hair. Make sure to clean his ears often since this area is common to accumulate dirt, moisture, and bacteria. Nail trimming should be accomplished every few weeks to keep his paws clean and healthy. Pitbull mixed with German Shepherd Health Problems Provided that he is given the proper care and is living a healthy lifestyle, this crossbreed can live up to 12 years. Every breed is susceptible to specific health issues, and so it is essential that as a dog owner, you are aware of these things so that you know how to take care well of your dog accordingly. It is worth remembering that the Pitbull crossed with German Shepherd may suffer from the following diseases. Hip Dysplasia: The German Shepherd breed is genetically susceptible to this condition, and the possibility of passing it to its offspring is highly possible. The disease is characterized by malformation of the hip joints which may cause lameness and ongoing pain. To avoid this condition from affecting your pup, make sure to keep your house clean. Also, keep an eye for increased use of pesticides at dog parks. Pitbull Crossed with German Shepherd Exercise Requirements The Pitbull German Shepherd mix is an active and high-energy dog, so it might get destructive if he gets bored. This breed love to move around and therefore enjoys doing exercise activities. It is recommended to exercise him at least 90 minutes daily. Their exercise requirement is not just a guideline, but it is crucial that they are met. Without enough exercise, this breed may fall into a pattern of aggressive and destructive behaviors, such as excessive barking, unwanted chewing, and digging. Mental stimulation exercises should also be part of your routine to keep them from getting bored and further improve its social interactions. You can provide your pet with interactive dog toys. While it is true that they come from parent breeds with remarkable high intelligence, you should be warned that training them can be a bit overwhelming. Patience, attention, more time and positive reinforcement are the key components that owners should abide by in training this crossbreed. This is for your dog to learn the proper etiquette at a young age and avoid developing unwanted behaviors when it grows up. Remember to keep the pace of the training slow as your pup is still young and its body might still be fragile. After a year or two, however, you can increase the pace. Moreover, take note that an experienced trainer is better than a novice trainer. You need to be strong and authoritative. Otherwise, this dog will try to dominate you. Gentle yet firm treatment is the way to go with the German Sheppit puppy. Use Positive ReinforcementEven if this mixed breed has a tendency to become stubborn, avoid taking extreme measures. Using negative punishment-based training will not do any help, he might just end up not respecting you as a leader. Make it a regular routine to reward him whenever he does something right. Implement simple rules that they can follow and in return, give them praises and treats for obeying the rules. Training your German Sheppit consistently in a positive method will provide you with pet companions that are obedient and good-natured. Mental stimulation activities can be in the form of games or puzzles. German Shepherd Pitbull and Families With consistent proper training, exercise and correct socialization, the German Shepherd Pitbulls are incredibly loyal, friendly and affectionate towards family members, making them an excellent choice as a family pet. This crossbreed can even be the perfect breed for children, especially that its parent breed Pitbull was previously known as a nanny dog. Young kids, especially those under 8 years old, may play rough with dogs and they may tire them out or provoke them unknowingly causing the dogs to react in aggressive behaviors. Children should be taught to love and respect all members of the family including your four-legged family companions. This dog loves to spend time with you and other family members. So give love lots of affection to your German Shepherd crossed with Pitbull and expect an unconditional love in return. They are still prized working dogs on ranches or farms, but can fit well into active families with older kids. German Shepherd Pitbull mix puppies need lots of socialization, training and exercise. They require regular grooming despite their short coat, and can suffer from separation anxiety if left alone. However, when you give them everything they need, this mix can be an amazing companion for experience dog owners and working dog trainers too. A member of the herding group, the German Shepherd was developed with the hopes of creating the perfect herding and service dog. Because of the cold and wet European climate, the German Shepherd had to be very hardy to handle long days in often brutal conditions. At that time, it became popular with military, police, and service work. Early Bulldogs and Terriers were crossed to create an athletic, bold dog primarily used for hunting. This is a practice where the dog would grasp a bull, bear, or other large animal around the head. Today, Pitbulls are still very agile dogs that make excellent contestants in agility, weight pulling, and tracking tests. This mix will be tall with a medium build and a coat that will range in length from short to long, depending on their parents. They will have a relatively long muzzle, dark eyes, a long tail and pointed ears. The German Shepherd Pitbull mix is probably going to be a large dog. You can expect a German Shepherd-Pitbull hybrid to grow up to 17—24 inches tall at the shoulder. If a hybrid puppy takes after its German Shepherd parent, then they may mature to between 80 and 90 pounds. When they more closely resemble their Pitbull parent, then they may reach anywhere from 30 to 60 pounds. Additionally, hybrids may look more like one parent than the other, or they may appear to be a lovely mix of both parents. Both breeds are commonly associated with territorial aggression and biting, both of humans and other dogs. Of course, with mixed breeds, you cannot say with much certainty how much the offspring of two purebred dogs will take after their parents. This goes for looks, health, and temperament. German Shepherd Pitbull mix puppies are no different. The Pitbull was first bred to fearlessly attack large animals and later to work, hunt and protect. This means that they are strong and agile enough to chase after such animals as cattle and hogs. Also, if needed, they can grasp and hold a moving animal with their powerful jaws. They can also be territorial. Furthermore, fewer Pitbulls in the study had attempted to bite their owner or a strange human than those who had attempted to or had attacked a strange dog in the past. Socialization As we mentioned earlier, proper training and socialization with other dogs and humans from an early age can help to prevent a puppy with German Shepherd lineage from developing aggressive behavior later in life. This is especially important if your dog has hypothyroidism in its genes. Additionally, both Pitbulls and German Shepherds are working breeds that are high energy. German Shepherd and Pitbull Health Your puppy has the potential to inherit the following conditions from one or both of their parents: Allergies — Allergic reactions to pollen, mold, and dust cause itchy skin on the feet, belly, folds of skin, and ears. Hip dysplasia Patellar luxation — When the knee cap pops out of place while the dog is in motion. Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis — Progressive nerve damage that results in weakness of the legs and sometimes blindness. Progressive Retinal Atrophy PRA — An inherited disorder in which deterioration of the retina leads to eventual blindness. Bladder stones —Pitbulls can inherit Hyperuricosuria. The urine is too acidic, which causes precipitation of solid masses called bladder stones or kidney stones depending on where they form. Lifespan The average life expectancy of a German Shepherd is about 11 years. Similarly, the Pitbull typically lives between 11 and 13 years. This means that you can expect a German Shepherd Pitbull mix to live to be approximately 11 or 12 years of age. A Shepherd Pitt may mature to be a large dog with lots of energy. In addition to the energy outlet, exercise is also important for this hybrid due to the high probability of it developing hip dysplasia. As a family dog, this hybrid may not be ideal for homes with young children or other dogs. Make sure that you meet both parents. They should be relaxed and confident around strangers, if not overly friendly. Make sure the breeder also shows you evidence of clear health test certificates.

A breed standard was drafted, and the first breed show was held in , after which the German Shepherd Dog became firmly established in Germany. The best way to determine whether or not a German Shepherd breeder is trustworthy is by asking for references from other breeders. Look at their site and social media accounts to see if they are active in the community and on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Ask how many German Shepherds they have in their care at any given time and how many litters they currently have in care. Ask how long it takes them to get back to you about any questions or concerns you might have about your pup or pups with the breeder or puppy of your choice if applicable. Make sure that the breeder understands what it is like raising a German Shepherd puppy and knows how important it is to take good care of them while they are growing up. The price of a German Shepherd depends on many factors, including the breeder and the dog itself. German Shepherd Dogs are one of the most intelligent breeds on earth, requiring a lot of training. He simply picks a spot in the room and relaxes while we go about with our business!! We couldn't be happier with Cooper and can't wait for everything that is to come!!! Maggie is a three-year-old American Bulldog. Her mom is a Johnson type and her dad is a Scott type. We did not know anything about this breed before we got her but we quickly realized that we had to learn fast. She is very strong-willed and also just plain strong! This breed needs hours of exercise a day and a strong pack leader. By fulfilling her needs, we have been able to see her develop to her full potential. American Bulldogs are not for everyone so please choose this breed only after very careful thought. She is loving, fearless and protective. She is also exceptionally smart. She knows her toys by name and could play hide-and-seek for hours. When we tell her to go to her bed she does and does not get up until given permission so we can eat dinner without her begging for bits. She truly listens to her people and is eager to please. She does not like looking at herself in the mirror and she growls at animals on TV and in movies. We will never own a different breed. She has our hearts forever. We've had CeeCee about 5 months now and she has become a very much loved member of our family. Talk about personality! If it weren't for his instruction, CeeCee would be unmanageable. We didn't train her to do or not do anything; she just did her thing and usually agreed with us and followed us around. I started walking for my sanity's sake and she enjoyed tagging along. She was a little over a year old when she was given to us by friends who had to move across the country and couldn't take her along. So before she came to our house, we started reading everything we could find on American Bulldogs. I saw the info on the dogbreedinfo site about Cesar and devoured his book. We found the show and soon after I started ordering the DVD sets so I could watch the episodes over and over. As soon as she got here, we took her for a long walk together. She thinks any package left by the delivery man is her new chew toy, and still gets too excited occasionally, but she is learning to sit still and control her impulses. Our neighbors have wolf-dogs that occasionally get loose and it doesn't scare CeeCee a bit wish I could say the same for me. She holds her own and is gradually winning them over. CeeCee came to us during a time when I was grieving a very traumatic event. She was the catalyst for letting go of things I couldn't fix or change. At first, we were tempted to rename her Bessie. She had just had a litter of pups and the resemblance to your average Holstein was remarkable. Now, all trimmed up and dressed in her fancy black lipstick, she makes us all smile. He is my first dog and has been the best dog anyone could ever have asked for. After originally being chosen by another owner, Casey spent the first 2 months on his own crated nearly 23 hours a day, by himself without a toy in his crate. Since that time he has been the most loveable, affectionate dog anyone could ask for. He loves to play with other dogs, especially his new 3-month-old sister. He even tries to play with our 3-year-old cat. A true Johnson bully, he loves to be out doors running and training. His favorite things to do are play with his football, play tug, dig holes and eat freshly fallen snow. My husband has watched the Dog Whisperer gaining a lot of tips on how to get Carson to "calm" down. She loves people and thinks that everyone must love her. After using some of the techniques on the show, she has really changed into a calmer dog. Rose was a rather destructive puppy, but only when left alone. I had to crate her during periods when my wife and I would both be away to keep her from destroying our home or ingesting foreign objects. I thought we had taken on more than we could handle, but she learned commands and tricks faster than any dog I'd ever had. We began educate ourselves, and the first step was to walk her 2 miles a day, play fetch and Frisbee for marathon sessions, built her a "spring pole" of sorts, and even take long bike rides with her on leash. Her excitability at newcomers decreased right away, and her furniture-chewing habit ceased. Currently at almost 4 years old, she's the best dog I could ever hope for. I shudder to think that we considered giving her up for adoption, and now people ask us how we have such a well-trained dog! And Rose required being handled a bit more sternly than the Labs, Rottie, and mostly mixed breeds I'd owned previously. Only one harsh correction was usually needed; two thousand light vocal reprimands meant nothing. Today if we are playing fetch and the ball goes over the fence, she looks at me almost trembling and I can either tell her "get it" allowing her to hop the fence, retrieve, and hop back or give her a stay command. At 18 months of age, I never believed this dog could restrain herself from any impulse. I only have one dog of this breed to draw on, but I'd venture to say that the American Bulldog needs stimulation, love, play, but most of all exercise and an occasional heavy hand early on, so we could establish her place in our pack. She has made my wife and me far more physically active than we had been, and even that is life enhancing. They are incredibly powerful; playing tug with her has to be experienced to be believed. At only 78 pounds, Rose can jump, pull and bite like nothing else. She once jumped up and bit a tree limb and just hung and shook after I took her rope toy down from the limb. Their enthusiasm is a big part of their charm, but I would not recommend this breed to a busy person who can't devote the time. She is great around kids, cats, other dogs, and even just barks or whimpers when she encounters a snake or turtle while we're camping. But Rose was on the fast track to being given up, when we realized she simply needed more exercise and for us to be more firm with her. He requires a lot of exercise or he can get himself into trouble he is very strong. The most important thing in raising him was being firm and consistent on everything. He is very smart and learns things quickly, even bad habits. He is somewhat protective of females and children around strangers, but if introduced loves everyone. Benelli is excellent with our 2 young children, ages 2 and 3. She's so calm and gentle that my 3-year-old can hold the leash while we go for walks. She absolutely loves our cats and she gets along very well with our other dog. This is our first American Bulldog and we couldn't ask for a better dog!! Her name is Wanda. I have learned so much about her from your website; it is very interesting and useful. I taught her how to sit and how to walk beside me , not in front of me by your instructions. We live in El Salvador in Central America. He's my first AB and I am impressed with the breed. His father is a Johnson type doggy and his mom a Scott type. Porky the American Bulldog puppy at 10 weeks, weighing 21 pounds Belle the American Bulldog at 3 years old—"We rescued Bella a year ago from a pen in a neighbor's garden. She weighed 34 pounds 17 kilos and had ten pups inside her. She was a very scared and seemed to be an aggressive dog. I broke through the fence when no one had been to her cage for 4 days. After a lot of shouting and abuse from my neighbor she eventually let me have her. She had 10 pups in my summerhouse and slowly each day she came to trust me a little more. She still growled and was scared of everyone else. We brought her into our house and had a cage for her. Cesar Millan was and is my hero. He gave me the belief in myself that I could cope with such a big scared dog. We have now had her for a year. She is like a different dog. She sleeps with the cats that she once so wanted to attack. She no longer needs the hated cage and loves visitors that used to scare her. I have never had a dog before and to be honest never really wanted one, but my Bella has filled a gap I never knew was there. So for anyone out there thinking about owning a rescued American Bulldog all you need is lots of patience, a strong will and a touch of Cesar Millan. Life Span Did You Know? The American Bulldog is a descendant of a generic bulldog type of dog breed brought into the region that is now the Southern United States by working-class immigrants many years ago. These were all-around working dogs used by small farmers and ranchers for several tasks around the farm. They were often found working as catch dogs, stock dogs, and overall farm guardians. When feral pigs were introduced to the New World, they had no natural predators and the population quickly grew out of control. In addition to their farm duties, the settlers found the bulldog-type dog to be the best solution they had for dealing with it. So, the bulldog continued to thrive, especially in the South. Johnson and Alan Scott that we have what we know today as the American Bulldog. Modern American Bulldogs can still be found working as all-around utility dogs, farm dogs, catch dogs, cattle drovers, and more. They can also be found competing in dog sports, working as a guardian, police, or military dog, and are also popular as a family pet. This dog breed is a sweetheart with a gentle, fun-loving nature. The American Bulldog is affectionate and adores their families. They also love children and tend to be good with other animals. American Bulldogs can have a high prey drive, so you will want to make sure you introduce and socialize them properly with other small animals in the household. Due to their protective nature, they can be aloof towards strangers and strange dogs, especially when they are younger. Early socialization can help them be more comfortable navigating their guardian instincts. Overall, this dog breed tends to be confident, social, and are most at ease and relaxed when they are with the people they love. American Bulldogs are an emotional dog breed and thrives on human attention and affection, so they tend to bond strongly with their owners and may come across as clingy sometimes. They will also often convince themselves that they are lap dogs regardless of their size, so make sure you are ready for a lot of love and cuddles with your American Bulldog, drool and all! The American Bulldog is a moderately adaptable dog breed. They are strong, high-energy working dogs that love being around their favorite humans. This makes them better suited to larger homes with space for them to run. They are not generally a good fit for apartment living, but they can adapt as long as they get more than enough exercise and attention. Because they do tend to bond strongly with their owners and want to be near them, they do not tend to do well with long periods of time alone. As with any dog breed, they are sensitive to extreme heat or cold, but can adapt to well to most climates. There are some health issues that can be found in specific genetic lines and are not common to the breed overall, but these can be ruled out with genetic tests. Some potential health conditions to be aware of in general with the American Bulldog include hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, thyroid disorders, kidney disorders, bone cancer, and eye-related issues like ectropion, entropion, and cherry eye. Talking to the breeder about the genetic history of the parents and asking to see any health clearances can help allay potential concerns. American Bulldogs are highly trainable and eager to please, so they are a good fit for owners of any experience level, including first-time dog owners. They can have a stubborn streak, so a first-time dog owner may want to consider enrolling in puppy training classes. As with any dog breed, early and ongoing training and socialization are important for your American Bulldog puppy to grow into a well-rounded, and a well-behaved, dog. This dog breed has a short coat that is generally smooth. Common coat colors are white and predominately white with patches of brindle, black, or red. More coat color patterns are emerging and becoming more common like all shades of brindle, fawn, brown, red, and more. The American Bulldog is relatively low maintenance and easy to groom and they are light to moderate shedders. They only require a bath as needed. But, you will need to be prepared to deal with some extra drool! Floppy ears tend to trap moisture and dirt, which can lead to ear infections. The ideal dental care for dogs is using an enzyme toothpaste or brushing their teeth every day. Dental hygiene chews or treats, a specially-formulated dental care diet, and more can be used to supplement your dental care efforts. The American Bulldog is an athletic and high-energy dog breed. They love daily walks and plenty of playtime outside. They may even enjoy plenty of other activities with you like swimming, hiking , and more. With their working dog background, this dog breed does need a job to do in order to stay happy and healthy. They also tend to be a good candidate for dog sports like obedience, weight pulling, the Iron Dog competition, and more. A fully-grown American Bulldog usually stands inches tall at the shoulder and weighs between pounds. An American Bulldog generally lives for years. Chance, one of the canine stars from the Homeward Bound films, was an American Bulldog. Featured American Bulldog Article.

The signature coat of pretty curls is one of the places where the Poodle ancestry truly shines through. To keep the coat looking its most beautiful, make sure to brush it two to four times per week. Not only is brushing a nice bonding experience for the pup and their person, but it also prevents tangling and matting. Owners can maintain a healthy Goldendoodle coat by bathing them every other month. Meet Mini Goldendoodles for Sale. We specialize in breeding Mini Goldendoodles as well as a few other breeds. We also have partnered up with several other high quality breeders that raise mini goldendoodle pups that meet our strict genetic criteria and testing. So we usually have a good selection of very high quality puppies. View Our Available Puppies! Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments. So if you live near Fremont California and are looking for a healthy and beautiful Mini Goldendoodle puppy then checkout our available pups now by Clicking Here. Below are some Mini Goldendoodle Pups that have been adopted! Life Span Did You Know? Although this breed is very popular, it is not currently recognized by the American Kennel Club. As long as they are well-socialized, Miniature Goldendoodles tend to make excellent family companions. They tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. Although they will alert you of strangers at the door, they tend to warm up quickly as they are more interested in making friends and receiving attention. Mini Goldendoodles are highly adaptable dogs. Their smaller size makes them a great fit for apartment living or for bigger homes with yards where they can run. As long as they get enough daily exercise, mental stimulation, and attention, they can adapt well. These little dogs tend to do well in just about any climate. However, like any dog, they are sensitive to heat. Due to their smaller size, you may need to gear up with some dog-friendly winter gear when temperatures start falling. Because this dog breed is loyal and people-oriented, they love to be in your company and do not like being left alone for long periods of time. This means they can be prone to developing separation anxiety if you do not work with them on it early on. Instead, make sure your new Mini Goldendoodle puppy has an active role in your life. If you do need to leave them alone for a bit, make sure they have some comforting toys or challenging puzzles to keep them from getting bored. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. Make sure you are asking about the health and genetic history of the parents. You can also ask about any health tests and clearances that have been done. The Mini Goldendoodles is a highly intelligent dog that picks up on things quickly and is eager to please. They tend to be sensitive to tone of voice as well. As long as training is consistent and focused on positive praise and reward, a Mini Goldendoodle will strive to be obedient and impress you and tends to excel at almost any task. These traits make the Mini Goldendoodle one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners and a good fit for owners of all experience levels. Daily brushing is recommended to remove tangles and prevent mats. Bathing is occasional and can often be relegated to the dog groomer that is recommended you visit every weeks. The groomer can help handle some of this during visits, but you will still need to do some maintenance at home between visits. Nail trims once or twice monthly keep nails from growing too long. Weekly ear checks with careful cleanings as needed help prevent ear infections. Daily brushing, plus cleanings at the vet as needed, is good dental care for dogs and can help prevent painful dental diseases later in life. Although the parents of this breed have a lot of energy, a Mini Goldendoodle tends to sit in a more moderate activity range. Daily walks plus some playtime and time to run are usually enough for them. But, they are also likely to match their energy level to yours, so be prepared for some bursts of energy as well as plenty of cuddling on the couch. Fully-grown Mini Goldendoodles usually stand inches tall at the shoulder. A Miniature Goldendoodle puppy can vary in size based on the generation of the dog. The result is generally a dog that will range from pounds. Looking at the size of the parents for an F1 or F1-B puppy can be a good indication of what size to expect in a fully-grown Miniature Goldendoodle. Mini Goldendoodles generally live for years on average. Featured Mini Goldendoodle Article. Life Span Did You Know? The German Shepherd is one of the most versatile, well-recognized, and popular dog breeds in the world. The modern German Shepherd is descended from a family of various German herding dogs. Breed standards were not developed until the late 19th century when Captain Max von Stephanitz, a German cavalry officer, worked with Arthur Meyer and other breeders to develop the ideal German herding dog. Stephanitz and Meyer wrote the breed standard in and the American Kennel Club recognized the German Shepherd as a member of the Herding Group in .Although they were originally bred as herding dogs, they were also bred for versatility, which made the German Shepherd an all-around working dog that could excel in a variety of applications. German Shepherds are one of the common dog breeds employed in K-9 units in both police and military applications. They also make great service dogs and, of course, are still awesome herding dogs and farm dogs! The German Shepherd is a strong-willed and highly intelligent dog. They have a playful, energetic spirit and tend to get along with children, other dogs, and other pets, which makes them a great family companion. A born protector, the German Shepherd will provide a great sense of security for their family while their loving and lively personality will make them fit right in as a companion. German Shepherds are naturally protective and can be wary of strangers at first. A well-socialized German Shepherd will bark to alert you and tends to warm up to strangers once introduced. German Shepherds are dogs that were bred to herd and work. This, plus their high energy, makes them a better fit for homes with fenced yards where they can run. They can adapt well to larger apartments as long as plenty of time is dedicated to ensuring they get enough exercise, mental stimulation, and attention every day. A bored, ignored, or under-exercised German Shepherd can often become a destructive one. They also can be sensitive to their surroundings and large gatherings can be off-putting. With a longer coat, they tend to prefer cooler climates and are sensitive to heat. The German Shepherd is a generally healthy breed, but there are some potential health concerns and good breeding practices make a big difference. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a German Shepherd include hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia , and degenerative myelopathy. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. So, make sure you are asking about the health and genetic history of both parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. As a barrel-chested breed, the German Shepherd is also at risk for bloat. While the German Shepherd is highly intelligent and highly trainable, they are generally not recommended for novice owners. If you are a novice dog owner, enroll in puppy training classes or enlist the help of a professional dog trainer; not just for your dog, but for yourself as well. Training assistance will help you grow in experience and build a strong bond between you and your German Shepherd puppy, which is essential. Also, the GSD has a thirst for training and fulfillment. They get bored easily and especially with repetition, so continued training with your German Shepherd throughout their life will be necessary. German Shepherds have a medium-to-long double coat. They will shed year-round and heavier as seasons change. Brushing a few times a week is usually sufficient; brushing daily is even better and your GSD will likely love you for it. Bathing is occasional on an as-needed basis. Ear checks weekly with careful cleanings as needed can help prevent ear infections. German Shepherds are high-energy working dogs. Not only do they require a lot of daily activity, but they also are a herding breed that was made to run, guard, and observe, so they need a job to do to be happy and healthy. Daily walks plus playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough for a GSD, but they will likely be up for more activity if you are. With their versatility and athleticism, you can try a lot of different activities when puppies finish growing and they are cleared for higher-impact things. A fully-grown German Shepherd usually stands inches tall and weighs pounds. German Shepherds generally live for years on average. Corporal Duncan brought him back to the United States and Rin-Tin-Tin became one of the most famous dog actors in history. Featured German Shepherd Article. For the complete list please see our regional listings of German Shepherd Breeders page. However, the price can vary depending on the breeder and the location. A well-known breeder in a location with high demand may charge more for their puppies. German Shepherd puppies can vary in price depending on the age of the dog and the reputation of the breeder. If you are unable to find a good local breeder, you could always consider adopting one from a shelter, but this will save you money only if your chosen pet has already been spayed or neutered. It is important to remember that when you buy a German Shepherd puppy, you are making a commitment to care for the dog for its entire lifetime. These dogs can live for up to 13 years, so be sure that you are prepared for the responsibility before making your purchase. How to Find A Responsible German Shepherd Breeder in Delaware If you are looking for a responsible German Shepherd breeder in Delaware, there are a few things you can do to ensure that you find a good one. First, ask your friends and family members if they know of any reputable breeders in the area. Chances are, someone you know has purchased a puppy from a good breeder in the past. The AKC also maintains a list of licensed breeders in each state. When you contact a breeder, be sure to ask them a few questions about their puppies. Good breeders will be happy to answer all of your questions and will even let you visit their facility so that you can see for yourself the living conditions and quality of their puppies. Visit Your Delaware German Shepherd Breeder in Person A reputable breeder will always be happy to let you visit their facility in person. This will give you the opportunity to see where the puppies are kept and how they are cared for. When visiting your breeder, ask them once again about any health concerns with their German Shepherd puppies. They should also be able to show you proof that they have performed these tests. Visiting the breeder will show you the conditions in which the puppies are kept. Reputable breeders will generally keep their dogs in clean, comfortable living spaces with plenty of room to run around and play. What to Look for When You Visit Your Delaware German Shepherd Breeder When you visit your breeder, there are several things that you should be looking for during your tour of the facility. First, take a look at how the puppies are being housed. Are they in clean and comfortable living spaces? Are they getting enough exercise and socialization? Second, ask to see the parents of the puppies. Visiting your German shepherd breeder will shed a lot of light on the potential puppies coming from that breeder. Ask the breeder for the contact information of a few people who have purchased puppies from them in the past. These people can tell you firsthand about their experience working with the breeder and whether they would recommend them to others. The references will come in handy if you have any questions about the puppies after bringing them home. If your new puppy has a health or behavioral issue, these references can put you in touch with people who might have been through the same thing and will be able to give you good advice on how to deal with it. Visiting the references puppies is also a good idea. References are a crucial step in the puppy buying process and any breeder that will not provide references should be avoided. This will give you the opportunity to ask them questions about their experience working with the breeder and whether they would recommend them to others. Ask them about the quality of the puppies, how well the breeder responded to any questions or concerns, and whether they were happy with the overall experience. If you have any doubts about a breeder, meeting past customers can help put your mind at ease. They can provide you with information that you might not be able to find anywhere else. If there are any warning signs that make you question the quality of puppies coming from a breeder, talk about them during your visit. Be prepared with questions for past customers. One of the best ways to judge a breeder is by their relationship with their veterinarian. If the breeder cannot provide you with this information, it might be a sign that they are not being responsible with the health of their dogs. Ask your breeder if you can meet their veterinarian so you can get a sense of how well they work together. If you live near the breeder, ask if you can continue using the veterinarian to treat your puppy. A good relationship between a breeder and their vet is crucial. They might also be unwilling to provide you with references or documentation of genetic testing. Another red flag is if the breeder tries to sell you a puppy before it is eight weeks old. Puppies that young are not fully weaned and are not ready to leave their mother. Buying a puppy from this breeder could result in health problems for the dog later on in life. If you suspect that the breeder is not being responsible, contact your local authorities to report them. This will let them know about any possible animal abuse or neglect and could allow future generations of dogs to be happier and healthier. One of the most important things to ask a breeder is whether the puppies have any health problems. A responsible breeder will screen their dogs for genetic conditions and will not sell a puppy to a home that does not have the resources to care for them. You should also ask to see documentation of any tests that have been performed. Be sure to have a designated area for the puppy to sleep and eat. They will be able to give you some tips on how to make your home more puppy-friendly. Make sure you have plenty of toys for them to chew on and enough room for them to run around. And LOVE. Lots of love. Puppies love love. Potty Training Your New German Shepherd Puppy One of the most important things to remember when potty training a new puppy is that accidents happen. If you live in a climate that is cold for much of the year, you may want to consider potty training your puppy indoors. This will allow you to keep an eye on them more easily and will help reduce the number of accidents. Puppies usually have to go after eating, drinking and playing. And remember — patience and consistency are key when potty training a new puppy. Just be sure to ask the right questions and look for red flags during the process. And remember — a little research now can make a world of difference for your new puppy. I love animals and love helping people adopt a pet. labradoodle puppies for sale fort wayne indiana - Soft bristled toothbrush Toothpaste for dogs Pekingese Maltese mix dogs are small dogs that are characterized by their long straight fur that reaches to the ground. These Maltese mix dogs have parents of two separate breeds, one of which is a Pekingese. Caring for a Maltese mix puppy is almost identical to caring for a puppy of any other breed of dog. However, there are several care issues that are prominent in the Maltese, including matted fur and tear stains, that must be taken into account. Take the Pekingese Maltese mix puppy to a veterinarian for regular vaccinations. Puppies need four to five vaccinations between the ages of five and 18 weeks. After the initial vaccinations, they will require vaccinations only once per year. Check the puppy's ears on a weekly basis and clean them if any dark waxy buildup is seen. Apply one to two drops of mineral oil to a cotton ball and gently wipe the inside of the dog's ears to remove the wax. If there is no wax visible in the ears, cleaning does not need to be performed. Wash the area around the puppy's eyes daily with eye cleaning wipes available at any pet store. This removes the tear stains that occur in the corner of the Pekingese Maltese puppy's eyes. Maltese puppies are more susceptible to tear stains than other breeds of dogs. Use pet nail clippers to cut the puppy's nails every three weeks. Brush the Pekingese Maltese puppy daily with a pet brush to remove any tangles from the fur. Examine the puppy for hair mats and use your fingers to work out the mats. Detangling spray can be purchased at pet stores that aids in the removal of tangles. Bathe the puppy once per week by placing it in a sink or tub. Thoroughly wet all the fur with lukewarm water and apply a quarter size amount of dog shampoo or baby shampoo. Work the shampoo thoroughly into the fur and then rinse with water. Repeat the shampoo application a second time and then rinse the fur well with water. Dry the puppy with a blow dryer set on low. Brush the Pekingese Maltese puppy's teeth daily using a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste designed for dogs. If the dog resists the toothbrush, your finger can be used instead. However, they are loving, loyal, and protective. They would begin to bark right away, alerting their owners, in case they find one hanging around suspiciously. This trait makes them a commendable guard and watch dog. Peke-A-Teses make good apartment dogs as well since they are usually not much active indoors. They are playful, and have a gentle demeanor towards children, and even other dogs. Care Exercise Peke-a-tese needs a regular and proper exercise, but never vigorously. They are small, playful dogs, and would meet with its requirements of spending off extra calories. Just take them out for a walk daily to maintain a good physical and mental health in general. Grooming The Peke-a-tese need moderate grooming since they shed minimally. Brush them a couple of times every week. That should retain the sheen of its furry coat. Health Problems They are a healthy breed without any reported breed-specific issues or ailments. Training Housebreaking might be a little difficult for this breed. To grow a healthy habit in your peke-a-tese puppy, take it out to do its business as the first thing in the morning, or before you leave it alone. Since many peke-a-tese puppies might be disobedient at certain points of time in their lives, you must begin training from its puppyhood. Be clear about what you are expecting from it, behaviorally. Dogs cannot generalize accurately, e. You must begin socializing your dog so as to keep away possibilities of stranger-aggression in the future. Invite your friends and families, more and more, right from the time your dog is a puppy. Let it get accustomed to new faces, and make it a habit to accept your guests, if not welcome them. Divide the amount into two halves for its two main meals. Lifespan Sociability Peke-a-Tese puppies start as adorable, tiny little balls of fluff. And while they will develop quite a bit of personality as they age, one of the most desirable qualities of these sweet dogs is that they stay pocket-sized! They make perfect apartment dogs, and love being toted around by their owners. Though quite small, Peke-a-Tese are rather long-lived dogs. As they regularly live well over a decade, you should be prepared to care for this compact canine companion for about years. Though both parent breeds have long lineages, their appearance in the United States is rather recent. It may be challenging to find a Peke-a-Tese up for adoption, so be prepared to search. Among them are the lion dog, pocket monkey, Peke, sun dog, and sleeve dog. But their size difference made their love impossible. The lion went to the Buddha and told him of their plight, and the Buddha allowed the lion to shrink down to the size of a marmoset. The resulting child is the Pekingese! These tiny dogs have been bred as small and sweet lapdogs for thousands of years. Maltese were favored by Roman ladies because they could fit in their sleeve, pocket, or purse! They are incredibly dignified dogs, and demand respect and attention! Image Credit: L T. Bred as companions to the wealthy, these dogs relish attention from their families. They have a quiet dignity and poised intelligence that fits perfectly with their majestic mustache and mane. Many Peke-a-Tese develop a close bond with their owners. They do not like being left alone and also have a tendency toward separation anxiety behaviors like barking when their family is away. It is not always easy to find a pet sitter for these sweet, but particular dogs. Those with long workdays and erratic schedules should think twice before getting a Peke-a-Tese. They are good-natured, playful, and affectionate with their family. Around strangers, however, Peke-a-Tese are wary. While it may take a moment for these regal pups to assess your character, if you win their approval you will have a loyal and fearless little friend! Are These Dogs Good for Families? They are not unilaterally good with children, but if socialized properly or raised with kids, they are gentle and playful friends. Mutual respect between Peke-a-Tese and kids is a must. Smaller dogs like the Peke-a-Tese are easier to bully, and these imperious little pups will not take kindly to rough or rude handling. Which parent breed your Peke-a-Tese favors will make a big difference in household harmony. We recommend introducing your puppy to other animals in a supervised environment as early as possible. Socializing your Peke-a-Tese early with other pets will go a long way towards smoothing any possible friction and behavior problems. Look for food designed for small breeds that have organic, whole food ingredients — lean animal proteins, vegetables, and fruits, yum yum! For the little Peke-a-Tese, any extra weight could seriously damage their health. Peke-a-Tese are sensitive to heat they can even sunburn! They are generally low-activity dogs, but each dog is different. Maybe your Peke-a-Tese shows little interest in going outdoors and will appreciate having more toys indoors to amuse them. Or maybe your pup gets bored easily, barking and making trouble, and will jump at the chance to leave the house at any opportunity to inspect their kingdom. Either way, just listen to your little friend and they will tell you how much exercise and attention they need! Their size and relatively low exercise requirements mean that the Peke-a-Tese is a great dog for older people and apartment dwellers. They inherit quite a bit of stubbornness from the Pekingese, and this can make training frustrating for a new dog owner. On the upside, they are small and manageable enough that serious training is unnecessary. However, teaching your Peke-a-Tese their place in the family structure and how to follow directions can still be useful and enriching to your relationship. Training a Peke-a-Tese should be approached with a firm, but gentle attitude. If you have trouble communicating, consider searching out a professional dog trainer that can work hands-on with you and your pup. Peke-a-Tese are low to moderate shedders and need daily grooming to keep their fur tangle-free. These dogs also need regular hair trims. And if you let their coat stay long you will need to brush daily as well as trim every few weeks. Peke-a-Tese have long fur around their eyes, so you will either need to keep their faces trimmed in particular or tie their hair up in little bows of topknots. Clip their nails every two weeks or so to prevent scratches and painful cracking. Ears should be swabbed or gently flushed about once a week to avoid infections. They also need a weekly tooth brushing to keep teeth and gums in tip-top shape. However, the two parent breeds have a number of predispositions and conditions that it is possible to inherit. Here is a full list of health concerns to be aware of for the Peke-a-Tese. Minor Conditions. Therefore, it can be challenging to train them. They like to be in charge and the boss of the family. However, an experienced dog owner can convert them into well-behaved dogs. However, they have enjoyed an incredible history, so they want to be the center of attention at any party. Affectionate and Adorable These dogs are bred to be human companions. But you should bring them home if you can spend time with them. They love to spend most of their time in the laps of their owners. Incredible Watchdogs Regardless of their small size, they are alert and serve as good watchdogs. Eventually, Poodles made their way from the lake to the life of luxury as they were the breed of choice by French nobles, and eventually royalty across all of Europe. To this day, the Poodle is still the national dog of France. The Toy Poodle started in the United States in the early 20th century to be a city-dwelling companion dog. On top of that, the gender of the puppy and the genetics of the parents play important factors as well. With that in mind, a Toy Peekapoo also known as a Teacup Peekapoo will typically weigh between pounds and have a height of inches. A Miniature Peekapoo will weigh in at around pounds and stand roughly inches tall. Peekapoos are rarely, if ever, bred from Standard Poodles. Due to this, they need to be socialized at an early age to prevent them from being defensive around people and other animals. Other small dogs are fine, but Peekapoos are often not fond of large dogs—and for a good reason. Peekapoos are very tiny and can be easily injured accidentally by larger dogs. This Pekingese Poodle Mix is not recommended for first-time dog owners as they are notoriously stubborn and difficult to train, though not as difficult as a purebred Pekingese. They need to be constantly rewarded and have positive reinforcement as they can become resentful if pushed too hard. Peekapoo Dog Breed Activity Requirements: Depending on how flat their facial structure is from their Pekingese genetics dictates how much exercise they must get. For those with flatter faces, a more sedentary lifestyle is acceptable with light walks and playtime sufficing. For those with facial structures more reminiscent of a Poodle, significantly more exercise is required, with walks of at least minutes a day. Pekingese Poodle Mix Pictures.

These breeders provide AKC registration for their dogs, so you can be comforted with the knowledge that your puppy is a purebred Labrador. This type of Labrador is stockier than their American field line cousin and has that quintessential look when you think of a Lab with the blocky head and otter tail. Each sire and dam has its hips and elbows X-Rayed and OFA certified before breeding and are genetically tested for inheritable diseases. They take great care when selecting which dogs to breed, and their females generally never have more than two litters. Puppies are raised in the home, as part of the family, and through the eight weeks, their personalities are monitored. This ultimately helps make sure that their Lab puppies are placed in the right home. Welcome I have been raising dogs for about 13 years in between taking time off to raise my children during their younger years. With my children being homeschooled, our puppies, who are raised in our home, receive lots of daily love and attention and are incredibly gentle with children. I inherited my love for animals from my mother who has been raising dogs for over 30 years. Together, and after much research, we learned the healthiest lifestyle for our animals is to raise them holistically and feed the raw food diet. The personalities are so calm and laid back, making them both wonderful family pets. And of course, please feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have. We got our boy who is now 6 months and could not be happier with him. He is an English Chocolate lab who has the best demeanor we have seen. He is super smart and catches on to things fast. People can not get over how calm and obedient he is for 6 months old. He puts himself to bed each night at the same time in his kennel. Deeply connected to his family and other pet siblings. Great with people and other dogs. Loved beyond measure and so blessed to have him in our family. We are proud to offer sound family pups, loved in our Southerwestern Vermont pastoral farm house by AKC standards for conformation, intelligence and natural instincts with a great balanced disposition for years of mutual companionship. All our Labs are our family members with generation after generation of health testing, proper nutrition, Vet care, and OFA clearances. Our Labs are not only pretty faced show and accomplished field champions but proud gold medalist couch potatoes and snuggle buddies! Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole. Monty was our first Red Barn Farm Labradors lab. He seemed to be a bit of an old soul after his first year, and when we heard Mel may be having more puppies, I knew Monty would love a RBFL brother. Our Gus could not be any more different from his big brother Monty. Gus is a young whippersnapper who spends his time hunting in the yard while our old man Monty basks in the sun. Mel has the most beautiful personality and kind disposition, and I swear her positive energy was absorbed by the pups. Bruin left some big ole puppy shoes to fill. Our hearts felt empty with out a Lab, so we reached out to Mel Maryellen. When the litter of pups we were anticipating were born, everything felt very meant-to-be. Prior to the litters arrival we decided upon a black boy pup. Out of an entire litter of 5 there was one little handsome male pup, and he was black! Insert our Charlie boy here! Charlie has filled those puppy shoes beyond what we imagined. Charlie has the gentle loving eyes of an old soul with the playfulness of a healthy pup. He is beyond smart, and is currently learning to hunt! Charlie immediately had an extra strong bond with our 4 year old daughter, which has warmed all of our hearts from day one. We feel so lucky to have a RBFL in our family to love. Red Barn Farm Labradors was recommended by word of mouth. Our adoption experience and our Lab, Libby AKA Liberty Bell have been the best experience and the best adoption experience we have ever had. At four years old, Libby is still the sweet, socialized, healthy dog we chose as a puppy. Mel Maryellen is knowledgeable, informative, and fair to all new perspective puppy families. Mel loves those puppies long before you know which pup to choose. Highly recommended! We Love Our Libby! We have formed such a great connection with Mel ever since our first phone interview with her. It was apparent from the beginning how much she loves these dogs and cares about placing them in a good home. From meeting the puppies as a litter and getting to select our special pup to Gotcha Day at 8 weeks old, with a take home bag including a comfort Momma scented lovie blanket and toy, Mel was fantastic! You can tell the puppies are well loved from day one! I will always go to Mel for my Labs! She is an amazing breeder. She is also willing to answer any questions or concerns at any time. She truly loves them and takes great care of them and knowing our puppy would be loved so fully for her first 8 weeks of life meant the world to us! Remi has been everything we hoped for and more, she has the best temperament and personality for our lifestyle. Driven and energetic while being cuddly and loyal through and through. We love our RedBarnFarm lab and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wonderful addition to the family. We found Red Barn Labs though a friend and from the moment we had our first phone interview we knew we found the right place to adopt our next lab from. Maryellen loves her dogs and all her pups. She has been available anytime we have a question or want to share our fun lab moments with her. We love staying in touch and following the extended RBL family online. Our pup is healthy, intelligent, and beautiful. She is a great dog! She has a lot of spunk, has great bird instinct, loves to play and loves being part of our family. She makes us so happy, and we are thrilled to have Maryellen, and RBL as part of our family now too. That is what Mel Maryellen excels at and it is a selfless act not many can do well. My experience with Mel was so smooth and personable from day one and still is to this very day. It is an honor to be able to have one of her pups. When going to pick out our puppy, we knew all of his litter was extremely well cared for and loved before we brought him home. Maryellen carefully listened to what we were looking for in a family dog, and helped guide us to goofy boy, Woody. Almost two years later, we know we can reach out to her for anything dog related- even just to show her a silly picture of our boy! Ad for our big boy, he is everything you can want in a Lab. He is playful, loyal, and an easy going brother to his dog sibling and human sibling and an excellent dog in our active family. We will never get a dog from another breeder! She immediately stole our hearts with her sweet and fun-loving nature. Our Red Barn Farm Labrador came to us full of love which was due to the loving care she received from day one. She is very smart, confident, silly, loyal and full of personality. We love her beautiful coat which is black as night and soft as velvet. She spreads the love of Labs that stems from the passion for amazing dogs at Red Barn Farm! From the moment we pulled up to her magical Vermont home we were in love with both her and our new family member, Benelli. We love being part of the Red Barn Farm Labradors family and would recommend them to everyone! He is a pup of Eva and Chip. There are working hunting dogs on both sides of his breeding and it shows! Maryellen puts in a lot of hard work to produce high quality dogs for their loving owners. From the time the pups are born until they go home to their new owners, Maryellen takes care of them around the clock beyond the expected to socialize them with their littler mates as well as other humans, animals, and various other stimuli they may encounter out in the world. We also appreciate how RBFL likes to check in on their pups via IG to see what kinds of adventures they are experiencing. Bode was the Fox Red male from sweet momma, Annie and super stud, Chip. Maryellen is the most wonderful, caring, kind, and thoughtful breeder I have ever met. The sincere communication, attention to mother, father and pups were of utmost importance to Maryellen. Our Bode is a hunk of burning love, fun and silliness. His personality is as big as he is and we love all of him! He spends his days with his older brother Chocolate Lab, Tucker hiking, ripping up stuffies, snuggling, and begging for treats. When the day comes to get another four-legged addition, we will calling Maryellen at Red Barn Farm Labradors!
