Energy level: High, I am still young after all! I also love to run and catch balls, but I need to be monitored with my toys. I need super hard toys and am able to destroy even very tough toys designed for power chewers. I love fetch, tug of war, and playing in water. I am good at bath time and will just sit in tub once you get me in there. Things I don't like: I don't like being by myself for too long. Things that make my humans happy: I am good while they are gone. I just want to play with everyone! Special notes: I do get excited when eating and tend to eat very fast, so I need to have a special bowl that helps me to slow down my meal. Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments. Should a Boxer Mix take after their Boxer parent, they will be a playful, energetic, and friendly dog that loves their family and loves being active with them. Boxers are known for their energetic and exuberant personalities. They bond closely with their families, tend to have a cheerful disposition, and also tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. Although they are friendly dogs, they do have the instinct to protect their families. If the other parent breed has similar traits, then you should be able to expect a similar temperament in a Boxer Mix. Asking the breeder about the other parent breed in the mix is a good start. You can also meet the mother dog to get a feel for her temperament and to see what behavior she is modeling for her puppies. Although the breeder should be socializing puppies while they have them, it is up to you to continue training and socializing a puppy once you get them home. Boxers are moderately adaptable dogs. Because of their energy, they tend to do better in homes with yards where they can run. But, they can adapt to apartments as long as they get exercise and mental stimulation throughout the day. Although all dogs are sensitive to heat, the Boxer is even more so because of their short snout. And, because they bond so closely with their families, they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. The other parent breed could introduce some traits that could affect the adaptability of a Boxer Mix, so you do want to ask the breeder about them. Knowing more about the other parent breed will help you get a better idea of what range of potential characteristics to expect. Are mixed-breed dogs healthier than purebred dogs? A Boxer Mix can inherit any combination of the potential health issues common to one or both of their parent breeds. Or, they could inherit none of them. From the Boxer side, potential health conditions include degenerative myelopathy, thyroid deficiency, hip dysplasia, and heart conditions. Boxers also tend to have sensitive digestive systems, which often makes them gassy. As a brachycephalic dog, they will also snort and snore. Because they are a barrel-chested breed, they are also at a higher risk for bloat in dogs. This can become dangerous, especially if the stomach flips, so you want to make sure you reduce the risk when you can and know the symptoms so you can get help as soon as possible. Since reputable breeders screen their dogs to avoid passing issues on to puppies, they should be able to answer your questions. Despite their high energy, Boxers are highly trainable dogs that can be a good fit for owners of any experience level. Because they are intelligent, they pick up on things quickly and can get bored easily. But, they are eager to please their owners and tend to respond well to training. The other parent breed could make a Boxer Mix even easier to train or more difficult to train. You want to make sure you ask the breeder about the other parent breed so you know what range of trainability to expect. A Boxer Mix can end up with a coat similar to one of their parents or a coat that is a combination of both of them. Monthly nail trims are usually enough to keep nails from growing too long. Ears should be dry, clean, and free of debris or pests. Unfortunately, many dog owners overlook dental care, which is why gum disease is one of the most common health issues in dogs. The Boxer is a high-energy dog breed. Daily walks plus playtime and other activities should be enough for this dog. However, they will likely be up for more activity if you are. If the other parent breed is also a high-energy dog breed, then you can expect a Boxer Mix to also be a high-energy dog. However, this is a potential range, so you will still need to be prepared to deal with a Boxer Mix that is high-energy. A Boxer usually stands inches tall and weighs pounds. The other parent breed can affect this, especially if they are the mother, so you do want to ask about them. A Boxer generally lives for years. Although the other parent breed may affect this slightly, you can likely expect a similar life span in a Boxer Mix. Featured Boxer Mix Article. Beagles are not known for their intelligence, however, they are very active and interested in learning. To receive a better idea of all of the bodily traits your Boxer Beagle mix could inherit, we are going to have to look at his parent breeds. Beagles are really energetic canines. Beagles pull on their very own lead for a matter of instinct. They have been featured across a wide range of media. Boxers specifically are working dogs. They are also known to have a higher incidence of allergies , which can sometimes cause skin problems resulting in self-mutilation in an attempt to relieve the discomfort. You can find Beagle Boxer mix puppies for sale in your local pet store. If you are looking to get a new puppy, and this is not the dog for you, here are some things you should know. Beagles are one of the most intelligent types of dogs. These dogs require a special type of environment to grow up in, which does not need a lot of exercise or playtime. They are a very social and loving breed. Beagles have a tendency to do better with a family dog than they do with just one individual, but a whole family is fine as well. Beagles are a great breed to take into an apartment because they have a natural instinct to be friendly with everyone. Because of their friendly nature, these dogs are perfect to have as a house guest. If you have children, a Beagle may just need a bit of encouragement to be comfortable around them. Beagles are also very easy to train and they can learn to behave without ever scaring off the child. Beagles will make great companions for children, who like to read and keep track of things in their daily lives. Beagles do not like being bored or having too many toys to play with. They should be kept in a home environment, where they can be active without getting bored. They should not be allowed to be left alone for long periods of time. Beagles should be spayed or neutered before they are brought home, as the male dog is a potential sexual offender. Beagles, unlike other breeds of dog, will become aggressive and be very dangerous if they do not receive adequate training. Beagles can be a difficult pet to care for and require regular grooming, diet, exercise, and proper nutrition. If you are considering getting a beagle, be sure to make an arrangement with a veterinarian for proper training and nutrition, before making a decision. Beagle boxer mix puppies for sale are a great choice if you have the time and the money. If you do not own a home and want a puppy that will be around children, then you may want to consider another type of dog. Just remember that you should always look into their history before making the final purchase. Share this:.

What is the White color? There are a total of 6 color variations with white that are recognized by the AKC. Frenchies with pure-white coats will cost more than those with spots of other colors such as black throughout their coat. What White Frenchies look like While you may think that all White Frenchies look the same— this is not the case. As mentioned earlier, there are a few different variations of White French Bulldogs, with some having colors such as Fawn or Black throughout their coat. The Role of Color in Hearing You may be wondering how the color of the coat could affect hearing. A lack of pigment cells The reason for this is that these genes are associated with a lack of pigment cells which give the appearance of their coats. This affects the small hairs in the ear There are small hairs in the inner ear that are called cilia, and when there is an extreme lack of pigment cells, the cilia may not develop properly, resulting in deafness. Hearing tests can rule out deafness If you are interested in a predominantly white French Bulldog or are just concerned about the possibility of your new puppy being deaf, be sure to ask your breeder about performing a BAER test. Test for Health Issues. This post may contain affiliate links. Read more here. When it comes to French Bulldog colors, numbers are like shades in a rainbow. What are the healthiest colors, or is there a certain color best to avoid? What colors are accepted as standard, and what French Bulldog coloring is considered rare or unique? Believe it or not, the wrong color combination such as the case of two Merle parents means a combination of two undesirable genes and can be disastrous for your litter. Health testing is and will always be key. White French Bulldog As the name implies, these dogs sport pale white coat coloring. Various genetic factors, such as brindle, leucism, albinism, and merle genes can all lead to this pale coat coloring. However, this Frenchie color can be just as dangerous as it might be attractive. Photo by Miguel Granero on Shutterstock Your White French Bulldog might face future skin problems, eye and ear issues, and many others. Albino French Bulldog coloring is as rare for them as it is for most other animal species humans included. Albinism is caused by a recessive trait, meaning both parents would need to pass it along to offspring, and statistically said offspring might still only have a 1 in 4 chance of being born albino. Cream French Bulldog Another favorite among the French Bulldog colors, cream presents as a sort of slightly duller shade of white. Cream-colored Frenchies owe thanks to a recessive trait inherited from the fawn coat color line. No distinct markings will mar a solid-colored coat, offering a very clean, pure appearance. Lighter cream edges on the ears are especially distinguished. A darker dusk color rims the eyes and no pinker ticking or pigment in the eye rims like white Frenchies. Colors like beige or tan-brown fall under acceptable limits, but can range from a golden tan to more reddish tan, or creamer to lighter tan. Photo by Ivonne Wierink on Shutterstock Coat is brilliant, short and smooth. Skin is soft and loose, especially at the head and shoulders, forming wrinkles. Coats other than short and smooth are a disqualification. Ticking is acceptable but not desired. Keep in mind that many of these colors will make you ineligible for conformation in many clubs and can come with health risks. Merle French Bulldog Photo by Ksenia Raykova on Shutterstock Being a dominant gene in dogs, Merle creates a beautiful and exotic sort of pale fur pattern with several patches. The Merle gene is considered dangerous, and not recommended for any breeder. You could describe the coat coloring as grayish brown with occasional patches of white. With a grey-blue or reddish-pink nose, this is an attractive yet costly breed for many. Many breeders utilize both a C-section and artificial insemination to produce this color. Some devoted buyers have been known to pay a much higher cost for a valuable bloodline. Is it really worth it though? The recent craze for these designer breeds has driven costs up and yet these dogs are not even allowed to participate in conformation in most clubs. Consider paying for a healthy dog, not a particular color. Blue French Bulldog Another very rare gene code for this blue coloring, similar to the Lilac coloring above. You might call this coat a diluted bluish-grey, caused by a dilute gene. The coat coloring can range from blue-grey to almost black. You might hear about several popular poor health-related issues. Health complications in the blue French Bulldog will usually arise as a result of poor breeding practices. Blue Pied French Bulldog A predominantly white coat sporting clearly marked patches of blue adorn parts of the body and head, or both. Puppies will usually have lighter coloring blanketing their cheeks, legs, and chest. Blue Sable French Bulldog Photo by cynoclub on Shutterstock Blue Sables sport fawn coloration on the lower legs and head with a blue mask and blue-tipped hairs. Like the others here with a blue combination, these Frenchies are also quite rare and costly because unjustified demand makes it attractive for breeders to create all kinds of color variations. These spotted markings are usually only slightly different in the normal coat color, but in some cases there can be a difference similar to a white coat with black stripes. This usually includes the neck, around the eyes and ears, and back. Since the gene is recessive, two genes need to be present for this French Bulldog coloring. Isabella French Bulldog Considered by many to be the absolute rarest of French Bulldog colors, boasting a greyish-blue, liver-colored coat. A dilution in the recessive color genes provides this breathtaking Isabella-blue coloration. Noses can range from a lighter brown to pink , while the eyes can range from light brown to blue. Price tags in this range are almost never justified exceptions being special breeding programs for guide dogs, protection work, etc. They can present with a white patch on his chest, and a darker mask. Black means black without a trace of brindle. The fawn hairs have black tipping this time. In fact, the Frenchies we know today were first bred in s Nottingham by lace makers of that period. When these craftsmen began moving to France in the s they brought their toy bulldogs with them. Though disorders might differ, they share that similarity with most breeds today: very few are completely free from genetic conditions. On the other hand, you can increase the chances your Frenchie will live a long and happy life by wisely selecting a reputable breeder. Make sure you ask questions about the health of the parents and ensure they are all well cared for. Swollen glands can produce an abnormal amount of wax, sometimes leading to increased inflammation. Diarrhea Stomach upset and GI issues are pretty common in the bread. Frenchies tend to be overly sensitive to bacteria like e-coli, parasites, or viruses, often leading to diarrhea as the body attempts to rid itself of these irritants. Dogs get sick and usually respond well, but extended diarrhea can lead to dehydration. Runny, tarry or bloody, wet or unusually foul-smelling droppings are signs there is a bigger problem at play that might need attention. Conjunctivitis Their particular genetics make French Bulldogs more prone to developing conjunctivitis pink eye than other breeds. Conjunctivitis is the medical term for inflammation of the conjunctiva, or the membrane that covers the whites of the eyes. Conjunctivitis is caused by an infection, normally in response to bacteria. Skin Problems Both environmental and food allergies commonly plague French Bulldogs. Things like autoimmune skin diseases or parasites can also pose a problem. Bacteria can sometimes collect around those skin folds, causing issues. Unlike humans, allergies will more often manifest in the form of skin rashes on dogs, causing them to want to bite and itch. Secondary infections from open wounds might be more of a problem than the allergy itself, which can almost always be managed through watchful care. Panting and regular breathing can be problematic, leading to shortness of breath or an increased chance of heat-related injuries. Because they can have difficulty breathing , along with the obvious posture-related issues, French Bulldogs should never be left unsupervised around any body of water. Vacationers should also think twice about any air travel. Discussing any possible breathing issues, and what to do if you notice any problems, with your veterinarian is recommended. Smoking around these dogs is frowned upon, risking their already fragile upper respiratory system. Out of all possible colors, only a select few top are accepted by the American Kennel Club and most others. If your dog shows any sign of illness, call your vet. Post navigation. Cream Frenchies Cream Frenchies have a coat color that is pale or light-colored, which is often described as a shade of off-white or ivory. The Black Mask pattern gives the impression that the dog is wearing a mask, which is why it is called a black mask. Take a look for yourself! The white patches vary in size and shape, and they can be solid or have brindle spots on them. Usually, the white patches are on their chests, however, they can be present anywhere on their coat… their head, back, paws, chest, tail, etc. Not all black Frenchies look the same! While the black coat color is not recognized by the AKC, it is still a desirable and popular color for many French Bulldog lovers. Blue Frenchies This one always confused me at first… Blue Frenchies are not actually blue! They have a coat color that is often described as a light grey or silver-blue color, rather than a true blue color. The color is a result of a dilution gene that affects the black pigment in the coat, resulting in a lighter color. Blue Frenchies can vary in shade, ranging from a pale grey color to a darker shade of blue-grey. While there is testing available for Color Dilution Alopecia, there is no cure. The Blue color comes from a dilution gene that affects the black pigment in the coat, while the Fawn color is a result of a Tan or Cream base color. A picture can explain better than I can… just look at my Blue Fawn Frenchie! Merle Frenchies Merle Frenchies have a coat color that is characterized by a marbled or dappled pattern. Not AKC recognized Due to these health concerns, the Merle coat color is not recognized by the AKC for French Bulldogs, and reputable breeders typically avoid breeding Merle Frenchies to ensure the health and well-being of the dogs. Chocolate Frenchies The brown chocolate-like Frenchie is one of the cutest colors out there in my opinion! The chocolate color can vary in shade, ranging from a lighter, milk chocolate color to a dark, almost black chocolate hue. The chocolate color is a result of a recessive gene that affects the black pigment in the coat, resulting in a brown color. As the name implies, Chocolate is a dark-brown coat color that is quite rare to see in Frenchies. Never seen a Chocolate Frenchie? French Bulldog Markings officially recognized by the AKC are… Piebald— A coat with large areas of white, mixed with patches of any other color. Black mask— A black mask around the face that covers the muzzle and eyes. The rest of the coat can be any color. Black markings— Any black patches on the coat, which may be small or large and can appear anywhere on the body. White markings— Any white patches on the coat, which may be small or large and can appear anywhere on the body. Brindle markings— A pattern of dark stripes on a lighter background color. The stripes can be any shade of black, brown, or gray, and may be thin or wide. However, as mentioned earlier, Frenchies can also have other markings that are not recognized by the AKC but can still be present in the breed. Other French Bulldog Markings You might see Frenchies with these markings, but the AKC would disqualify a Frenchie with these markings not important unless you want your dog to compete in AKC dog shows Ticked— this marking refers to small dots or flecks of color on a white or light-colored background. Spotted— this marking refers to small, evenly distributed spots of color on a white or light-colored background. Tan Points— this marking refers to tan or rust-colored markings on specific areas of the body, such as the eyebrows, cheeks, legs, and under the tail. This coat pattern is not officially recognized by the AKC. What Ticked Frenchies look like A Frenchie with a Ticked Coat Pattern Piebald Frenchies The piebald pattern is when there are spots of unpigmented white fur on top of the pigmented colored fur. The truth about most of these fad colors is that they are made by breeding Frenchies with other dog breeds. Believe it or not, these Fluffy Frenchies are actually purebred Frenchies— the gene for fluffiness is just extremely rare. Breeding Frenchies is a lot of work! What makes breeding French Bulldogs and hence Frenchie puppies so expensive is that they require artificial insemination and c-sections to reproduce. Their very slim hips make it very difficult, if not nearly impossible for them to reproduce naturally. Not to mention, vet bills, high-quality foods for the puppies, and housing just add to the cost of breeding Frenchies. These colors are not officially recognized by the AKC. Blue Fawn — This is what color my Frenchie is. While Frenchies may come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and patterns, there are only a handful that are officially recognized by the American Kennel Club AKC. Posted on. All other colors are deemed undesirable. Brindle French Bulldogs have a dark-colored coat with lighter strands mixed in. Fawn — This is usually a light, yellowish-tan color that can have several different shades. The coat is uniform and the head is typically a bit darker than the rest of the body. Pied — A French Bulldog with a pied or piebald coat is mostly white with prominent patches usually in brindle or fawn. To the eye, this color looks grey or gray. Some French Bulldog coat colors are linked with genetic health conditions. Blue is often avoided even though the bad health links are disputed by many. Health problems recorded in this color such as alopecia have also been found in dogs of other colors. A Fawn French Bulldog has a yellowish tan coat and the shade can vary from light fawn to red fawn. Fawn is present in many other Frenchie coats. A fawn French Bulldog typically has a black mask. Black and White As the name suggests, the black and white French Bulldog has black and white markings. This Frenchie coat can also be referred to as pied or piebald. White is the predominant color and there are no white markings breaking up the black patches. Beautiful as this pattern is, black and white French Bulldogs are not considered an official breed standard and are not eligible for shows. A French Bulldog of this color often has a dark mask and ears with some brindled areas. Brindle This is a French Bulldog with a predominant fawn-colored coat with dark brindle. The intensity can change but the nails, nose, eyelids, and lips should always be dark. Brindle and White Even with the Brindle and White Frenchie, the base color is still fawn — even though you may think that the coat seems mostly white. Cream The cream French Bulldog is similar to the white French Bulldog but with more of an eggshell color. Cream is dominant over the whole body with no other patches of color. You might also here this color referred to a platinum. White and Brindle White and Fawn With the white and fawn French Bulldog, the white dominates the fawn and where you see the fawn color, it should be even. Cream and White.

With their signature bat ears and expressive eyes, French Bulldogs, or "Frenchies" as they are lovingly known, have captured the hearts of many dog lovers around the globe, consistently ranking among the most popular breeds. Renowned for their easy maintenance and the ability to thrive in apartment living, French Bulldogs are a city dweller's delight. Their small size, typically weighing under 28 pounds, makes them perfectly suited to compact urban spaces. However, their charming personalities and heartwarming companionship are universally loved, irrespective of city or countryside living. This breed's laid-back nature does not mean they're devoid of fun and play. On the contrary, French Bulldogs can be quite playful and are known for their often comical and entertaining antics, which only further endears them to their owners. Their affectionate demeanor, combined with a remarkably low barking tendency, makes them a joy to have around the house. French Bulldogs are sturdy, compact, and stocky, with a powerful muscular build that contradicts their small size. They have a smooth coat that comes in a variety of colors, from fawn and brindle to white and grey. Their facial expressions are human-like, and they're known to "talk" using a complex system of yawns, yips, and gargles. However, owning a French Bulldog does come with responsibilities. Their brachycephalic short-nosed nature makes them prone to certain health issues and less tolerant of extreme temperatures. Despite their muscular appearance, they are not the best swimmers, and care should be taken around bodies of water. Questions about French Bulldog puppies for sale in South Carolina? We have answers. By Chris The striking Poodle needs no introduction. Even people unfamiliar with dog breeds can easily identify one. But aside from their striking good looks, Poodles have many desirable traits, like their loyalty, intelligence, and hypoallergenic coat. The typical cost of a purebred Poodle ranges from USD. Smaller Toy and Mini Poodles typically cost towards the higher range. Papered show Poodles or genetically strong breeding dogs can fetch far higher prices. A Tan Poodle sitting on an outdoor lounge. How Much Are Poodles? First things first: Poodles are expensive dogs. The reason? Poodles cost a lot to breed and maintain. A reputable breeder puts a lot of blood, sweat, and tears—and money—to ensure that their dogs are healthy and well-maintained. Where you get your Poodle also affects how much you pay for it. There are three types, which differ based on size: Standard: the largest of the three types Miniature: a medium-size Poodle Toy: the smallest of the three types A guilty looking two color Poodle Reputable Poodle Breeder Anyone who wants a purebred Poodle should find a reputable breeder. A reputable breeder is someone with a specific breeding business whose job is to produce the best dogs. As I mentioned above, the cost varies depending on the Poodle type you choose. Accidental Breeder An accidental breeder is exactly what it sounds like—someone who is not in the business of breeding but has a pregnant dog. In most cases, people who run puppy mills do not prioritize the health and safety of their pups. They have lots of dogs, usually more than they can take care of, to make the greatest profit possible. Getting a dog from a puppy mill is risky; you may get a dog with long-term health problems, a shorter life span, or genetic issues. So how do you avoid puppy mills? Online forums are an excellent place to look, especially ones specific to your area. Be sure to also check out breeder reviews. Rescue Finally, you have rescue shelters, which are excellent places to obtain a Poodle for cheap. The big downside in going this route is that finding the dog you want is a matter of luck. The main advantage of shelter dogs is the price. Additionally, most of the time, the shelter ensures that the dog already has all its shots before it goes home with you, saving you some of the healthcare costs. However, if knowing that is not important to you, you can find a fantastic dog for cheap. In addition to the initial fee to take the dog home, you should be aware of the other many Poodle costs. Some are one-time, while others are recurring. You already know that you have to feed the dog throughout its life. Choosing between a Cockapoo vs Poodle can be tricky — they are both super cute, hypoallergenic , and can be non-shedding! Vaccinations Vaccinations are essential to keep dogs healthy. Some are free, while others are not. Health Care Just as you would take a child to the pediatrician for regular checkups, you should take your Poodle to the Vet for an six monthly visit. Your vet may also advise certain medications to keep your dog healthy, like deworming meds. A super cute Poodle sitting on its owners lap Training Training is critical to ensure that your dog is well-behaved. You may feel confident training your dog yourself, but most people choose to send their Poodles to puppy school. You can start Poodle training with potty training at home. There are milestones that Poodles should meet at different ages. Grooming All dogs need to be groomed to some degree to keep their fur and skin healthy. Poodles are no exception, but if you compare them to other breeds, their grooming requirements are much higher. Depending on your preferences, your dog should visit the groomer every month or two. While this breed makes a loving and intelligent family dog , the high cost of having a Poodle—both to purchase it and to maintain it—is not for everyone. Adopting a Poodle? If you want to get a show dog from champion bloodlines, expect to spend more. Purchasing the purebred Miniature or Toy type of Poodle is pricier than buying other dog breeds from a backyard dog breeder. The Standard Poodles are typically less expensive than Toy Poodles since they deliver more purebred puppies per litter. The price of a Standard Poodle, as well as Miniature and Toy Poodles, does not often change between male and female dogs, but larger dogs are associated with a higher maintenance cost compared to smaller Poodles. A premium price tag also usually means you have a high-quality Poodle puppy from purebred breeders which could save you a lot of money in the long run. Female Poodle: Which Is Better? Factors Affecting the Cost of a Poodle Puppy Many people find Poodles expensive, but what is it about Poodles that makes them so costly? Well, there are many reasons why these fluffy dogs cost thousands of dollars. The size, age, health, lineage, and AKC registration of a Poodle puppy are essential considerations when determining puppy prices. Here are other factors affecting the price of a purebred Poodle: Age: Younger purebred Poodle puppies are far more costly than older puppies on average. This is due to the high demand for young pups. Meanwhile, purchasing an adult Poodle could save you at the very least a few hundred dollars. Appearance: Purebred Poodles that sport rare Poodles coats color are priced higher than others. Purebred Poodle breeders dedicate years to learning how to breed high-quality puppies. Those that gained recognition for their hard work often put higher price tags on their Poodles than others. Bloodline: Since they are bred for exhibition, champion Poodles will be the priciest. These are the canines that compete in athletics and breed representation. Health Screenings: Purebred Poodles are at risk of health issues, such as seizures. This means Poodle breeders must take measures to ensure the health of their pups. As a result, they will have to invest additional money to nurture proper Poodle health. Registration Papers: Your Poodle must have the required registration papers to be registered with a kennel club. This list contains the significant factors that influence the price of a Poodle. When purchasing a Standard Poodle puppy, keep them in mind and any additional fees that may be associated with it. A purebred backyard breeder might ask you for things like reservation charges, pet delivery, vaccines, and pup accessories that are not included in the Standard Poodle price range. Poodle costs of adoption will vary depending on where you get your dog. If you choose a senior or special needs adult Standard Poodle, the fee is significantly reduced or even free entirely in these cases. Poodle puppies can be found in abundance in local shelters. If you decide to adopt a Poodle, you can be assured that you will get a dog that has been well-cared for, unlike the ones found in a puppy mill. Here is the list of the essential things that people who love Poodles must prepare for: Food and Treats: Poodles can be picky eaters. Hence, it is important to invest in the right kind of high-quality food upfront. Poodles will need a diet high in fats and proteins. Bed: Because the Poodles are active dogs, it will require a nice bed. The size of your Poodle will determine which mattress is appropriate. Crate: A crate is a must-have for required vet visits or crate-training your Poodle properly. This is a must-have item for Poodles that enjoy running and playing. Toys: Teething is unavoidable for young pups, and restlessness can lead to destructive behavior. These toys are a great approach to alleviating these concerns while keeping your dog happy. A slick brush to clear unkempt hair and knots, a metallic greyhound comb to remove tangles and separate hair strands, a blow dryer, grooming clippers, nail clippers, and a toothbrush to maintain proper oral hygiene are all you need. Furthermore, deworming is a crucial step in keeping healthy pups. Initial Vaccine Shots: If you opt to purchase an unvaccinated Poodle puppy, you will be responsible for the expense of their first round of vaccinations. This is also another way of keeping your Poodle healthy. Neutering and Spaying: If you purchase Standard Poodle puppies, most likely, it is still intact. It is suggested that the puppy be spayed or neutered between six and nine months. Microchip: A microchip, about the size of a rice grain, should be implanted on your Poodle. This can be scanned by vets or other canine specialists for your contact info, health records, and health problems. Miscellaneous Supplies: Useful goods such as poop scoopers, cleaning materials, and urine pads could make Poodle care much more manageable. Other sources of entertainment for your dog may include activities, such as agility. You can also purchase items to create brain games for your dog, like puzzles and Kong toys. Different diets, toys, supplies, and groomers all can vary significantly in cost. Additional Costs to Factor In Other costs you should be prepared for include pet sitters, trainers, and emergency expenses. Trainers usually charge by the session, but some offer packages to help limit expense. Setting money aside every month for any emergency or unexpected expenses will help you be prepared if anything comes up. You can also rotate through toys and supplies to keep things interesting and prevent items from wearing out quickly. Even on a budget, you should plan for the monthly expenses associated with food and medical care. These are expenses that cannot be skipped, regardless of budget. Coming up with creative ways to budget and stretch the use of items longer can go a long way in helping you to save money. Image Credit: susanne, Pixabay Saving Money on Poodle Care You can save money on a professional groomer if you take time to brush your dog well every day to ensure they are not getting mats and to monitor their skin health. You can also save money on grooming expenses if you are comfortable shaving or grooming your Poodle yourself. Another great way to save money on the care and maintenance of your Poodle is to watch online and brick-and-mortar shops for sales and coupons. These can be used to save a significant amount on foods, toys, treats, cleaning supplies, grooming supplies, and more. Conclusion: Poodle Price Owning a Poodle can be attainable, regardless of your budget. Poodles of all sizes and types are fantastic dogs with fun personalities. They are not low-maintenance dogs, though. This means you may experience higher costs associated with grooming and basic care than you would with a lower-maintenance dog. Their small size comes with careful, specific breeding to reduce disease and enhance desirable traits. There are several benefits to having such a tiny dog, from the cost of food to ease of travel. Expensive Puppies Vs Low Price Puppies If this will be your first-ever puppy, or your first Poodle puppy, you may genuinely not be aware there are several different types of Poodle breeders. Here are the three main types of Poodle dog breeders: Purebred dog breeder. Backyard dog breeder. You may also choose to find a Poodle puppy or adult at a local rescue shelter or Poodle rescue organization. The former will often compete in dog shows or canine athletics and some puppies that are show quality may also be bred. The latter will be placed in high quality homes with families who have been thoroughly interviewed and vetted. Often, they will have paid an initial deposit and waited for a period of time before a puppy became available. Purebred dog breeders place Poodle health and breed longevity before profit. They pre-test their breeding dogs for genetic health issues. Parent dogs and puppies are fed high quality food, receive ongoing veterinary care, and are well-socialized for placement. But what is a backyard breeder? A backyard breeder generally gets into dog breeding for two reasons: their unfixed dog got knocked up by the intact daddy dog down the block, or they want to make some extra cash. They also are unlikely to know much, if anything, about canine genetics or breed health. They may not even be purebred Poodles even if the puppies look the part and the breeder tells you they are purebred. There are many unknown variables involved in purchasing a Poodle from this type of casual or accidental dog breeder. Backyard dog breeders often operate out of their car, hawking puppies at local flea markets or grocery stores. They may also work with local pet stores, although this is typically more the purview of puppy mills. One research authority states there may be as many as 10, puppy mills up and running in the U. Puppy mills are in it for one reason and only one reason — to make money. To this end, their business model is simple: spend as little as possible to make as much as possible, while flying under the local radar to avoid being brought up on animal cruelty charges. Some puppy mills are now importing puppies bred in other countries to keep a lower profile. These puppies may cost less than either a purebred dog breeder or even a backyard breeder will charge, but the profit margin on each Poodle puppy is likely to be far higher. This valuable article offers 41 tips to spot a puppy mill-type breeder and steer clear. Rescue Shelter Not everyone will have the financial means to purchase a purebred Poodle puppy from a reputable breeder. For some people, it is also important for other reasons to adopt rather than shop. Here, you are more likely to find an adult Poodle of any size rather than a Poodle puppy, but this can also offer its own advantages, including being able to skip teething and house training! Always look for a rescue organization that is a registered c 3 charity and re-invests adoption fees back into the organization. This puppy may lack the ideal coat color or conformation appearance to compete in the show ring. But they will be a great example of a purebred Poodle dog in all other ways temperament, athleticism, et al. Miniature and Toy Poodles average three puppies per litter. If you plan to add a Poodle puppy to your family, remember that the price tag on that precious bundle of fur is just one aspect of puppy budget! We ONLY select dogs without health issues or problems and those that represent what we consider to be the BEST standards and characteristics of the breed. Our "Exotic" Isabella, Fluffy, etc. Attitude", "Lockstock", "Zelle", "El Pappi", etc. Some ask, "Why are French Bulldogs so expensive? We give our dogs the best of care, nutrition and quality of life with our family. We wanted to be sure that we could produce and offer only healthy puppies breeding French Bulldogs, which is why we spent a vast amount of time researching these beautiful and rare colors before adding them to our breeding line and why we are sharing this information with you. What we discovered about the blue is, the blue gray color comes from a rare gene called the dilute gene d which changes the coat color from black to blue gray and is also responsible for the change in the eye color. It is this rare gene d that makes the blue French Bulldog rare and is why there is a higher price tag for the blue, chocolate or lilac colored French bulldogs than the regular or "standard" colored French bulldogs. Although we weren't able to determine a clear "beginning" with the blue colored dogs - fact is, there are many variations of breeds that carry this rare dilute gene d and the French Bulldogs are no different. There are breeders that believe the blue French bulldogs will "pollute" the gene pool. However, we feel since the dilute gene d has been in the gene pool since the beginning and merely affects the hair and eye color, has no bearing on the dogs conformation, temperament or health, how could the dilute gene d be considered to be contaminate? Again, we have been an excessive amount of times researching the dilute gene d that's responsible for this beautiful and rare color and held off purchasing a blue because of all the negative controversy about them and their so called health issues that are rumored to be related to this blue dilute gene d. Does this mean that no blue French bulldog will ever have a health issue? That the health issues in the blue color is NOT due to coloring, but to poor breeding judgment and inbreeding. Our findings lead us to believe that one should be more concerned with the quality of the dog and the integrity of the breeder rather than the dog's eye and coat color. You might ask.Why are blue French bulldogs not allowed in the breed standard? This may have been the case in when the disqualifications were first written, but it doesn't seem to be the case now. Blue French bulldogs are more popular now then ever before and are in high demand. It should be noted that blue French Bulldogs are accepted in the European Standards which is where the breed originated and there are some colored variations which are accepted by AKC which are not allowed within the European standards. Our advise to anyone thinking about purchasing a blue French bulldog or any French bulldog for that matter is to consider the reputation and integrity of the breeder first and foremost and to be concerned primarily with the health of the dog rather than the color. To research the facts fro yourselves, not to trust any one source or one side of this debate because everyone has presuppositions that influence how they view the subject. Most often the eyes in a blue French bulldog will start off a beautiful sapphire blue as a puppy but change as an adult. We'd also like to add.Breeding Frenchies is a lot of work! It requires a lot of time, effort, and money to breed happy and healthy Frenchies. These breeders are what give French Bulldogs a bad rep. That certainly holds true when looking for a French Bulldog puppy. A high-quality, reputable breeder will conduct many tests to ensure your puppy is free of any preventable genetic health problems. A good breeder can minimize the risk of health issues Getting your French Bulldog from a reputable breeder can minimize the risk of your Frenchie having health issues such as deafness, hip dysplasia , respiratory problems, and more. Not to mention the heartache involved with dealing with a sick pup. Be wary of shady breeders All I know is that my worst nightmare is falling in love with my new Frenchie puppy only to come to find out he has a serious illness that the breeder failed to disclose to me. Consider Investing in Pet Insurance to save money If you are worried about the possibility of serious health issues , pet insurance is a great investment! French Bulldogs have been quickly rising in popularity — in fact, they just ranked 1 on the American Kennel Club rankings in .Why does everybody want a Frenchie?! I could go on all day. The French Bulldog can do it all Frenchies can lay on the couch all day with you or go out to explore the great outdoors! Frenchies are huge couch potatoes! Your Frenchie will be more than happy to travel where ever with you! Micro French Bulldog food and diet They need around 25 to 35 calories of food per pound of body weight daily which is split into two meals. Micro French Bulldog health issues Small and adorable-looking these small Frenchies may be, they are more prone to health problems like these four 4 : 1. Family visits at 8 weeks At 8 weeks of age, I schedule each family who is able, to come and visit the litter. This will allow you to come to Great Day Labradoodles and meet the litter from which you are purchasing a puppy. I realize that some families will have the ability to come and some may not have that option. The visits are scheduled in the order the deposits are received. During your individual visit you will meet all available puppies and we will talk about your lifestyle and how the puppies each best fit. In general, families do a great job on selection using the insight I provide and the individual time with the pups. At the conclusion of your visit your selection is final and you will take your puppy home with you. Scroll Our story My name is Kim. I have always had a love for animals. Dogs, cats and horses were always a part of my life. But I had never thought of being a breeder until I met the pug of my life. It all started years ago in a theater. When Frank the pug began singing "and now your back. .It got so bad my husband, JR, even tried to smother me so i would be quiet. Not long after the night in the theater we went puppy shopping. I love puppy shopping!!! Just looking at those puppies in the window makes my heart swell even if I can't take them home. But on this day my life would change forever. Behind one of the windows this tiny little puppy with big eyes and the cutest growl forced me take her home. I named her "All That Tazz". Tazz for short. She came home and took over the house. How something so small can have so much personality I will never know. She was stubborn, full of life, and my personal shadow for 14 years. Tazz was a Pug. We decided to start breeding when our kids moved out and we were able to be full time pug parents. Being able to devote the proper amount of time and effort to our breeding program. We take great pride and care in our breeding program and strive to improve upon it everyday. As small hobby breeders, we devote so much of our time to the raising and socialization of healthy, well tempered pug puppies. We adhere to an ethical and responsible breeding cycle to promote the utmost well being of our girls. We also value the bonds that we form with our adoptive families and it is our greatest joy to watch our puppies grow up to become a part of your family and thrive. We currently offer fawn, black, cream, silver and chocolate pugs and look forward to adding additional colored pugs in the future. Prices of our Pug puppies vary based on quality, sex, color and registry of puppy. We realize that there is strong debate on Pugs of color. But pugs of color can be traced back as far as B. The Lo-Sze pronounced low tsu appears to be the progenitor of the modern Pug. The Chinese had interbred these dogs resulting in both short and long haired as well as variously colored pups in the same litter. The greatest and sometimes saddest day is when a family comes over to pick up their new puppy. I love to see the excitement in the eyes of our new owners. A pug is a special kind of dog. Lots of love, patience and work goes into being a pug owner. They are not very big but bring a giant personality with them wherever they go. It is a great joy to bring this special dog into the lives of others. Life Span Did You Know? The Pug, or Pug Dog, is famous for its flat-faced appearance and large, soulful eyes. They are an ancient dog breed that originated in China over 2, years ago. They were originally developed as a refined pet of Chinese royalty along with the Pekingese and the Shih Tzu. During this time, the Pug was considered a national treasure that outsiders could only access if one was gifted to them. Dutch traders from the s can be credited with bringing the Pug onto the world stage when they brought some back to Europe with them. The Pug made its way to the United States in the s. Now, the Pug is a popular dog breed worldwide. They are a popular companion that provides their owners with plenty of love and laughter from their comedic and playful antics. The Pug is a playful and outgoing dog breed with a charming personality. They tend to be very loving towards children and also get along well with other pets and dogs. They are a companion breed at heart known for their gentle nature and sociable personality. They love to give love and receive it in return. Their sensitive nature makes them intuitive as well and Pugs will often sense the moods of their owners and react accordingly. They will do well in homes of any size, including apartments. The Pug also adapts well to city or country life and are a good fit for singles or families of any size. Although they are highly adaptable to various living situations, they are less adaptable to climates. Pugs are very sensitive to the heat and overexertion, so they are best-suited to moderate climates. They also love to be with their families and will not be happy if left alone for a long time. As with any dog breed, the Pug has some health conditions to be aware of. In particular, corneal ulcers and dry eye are some potential eye problems that can occur. Additionally, Pugs can be susceptible to hip dysplasia, patellar luxation, and encephalitis. Asking the breeder about the genetic history of the parents and to see health clearances can help allay concerns for some of these health issues. Pugs are also big foodies. They love to eat! Their love for food means this dog breed is prone to obesity. As a brachycephalic dog, their large head and short snout often cause respiratory problems, which can limit their exercise at times and contribute to weight gain. This will cause them to quickly gasp and snort, which can sound relatively alarming. These episodes are usually not harmful as your Pug is just clearing their palate and throat. The Pug tends to be easy to train and is a good fit for owners of any experience level. They are eager to please their owners and tend to pick up on commands quickly. The same goes for their iconic face wrinkles. Daily brushing is ideal, but if your Pug is not allowing you to do that, a few times a week should be sufficient. Getting your Pug used to these grooming tasks as a puppy will help make it a positive bonding experience and a much easier process throughout their life. how much a pug puppy cost in india - Regular grooming sessions also allow you to examine his coat, teeth, eyes, ears, and nails for signs of problems. How much grooming your Doodle needs depends mostly on the type of coat he has. Labradoodles have three different types of coats and variations within these three. Hair Coat Your dog will most likely shed if he has a hair coat that may be straight or wavy. But this is also the easiest coat of all to care for as your dog will naturally molt. You are more likely to get this type of coat from F1 Labradoodles, especially those puppies which take after their Labrador parent. Wool and Fleece Coat The other two coat types are wool and fleece, and both of these are low or minimal shedding types. Australian Labradoodles have one of these types of coats, as well as most other multi-generation Doodles. Although these dogs are likely to be low or minimal shedding, there is no guarantee that the dog will not shed. Labradoodle coat types vary from one dog to another, even within litters. Wool and fleece coats are high maintenance as far as grooming is concerned. If you have experience, then you can clip or hand strip the dog yourself. Otherwise, you will need to take your Doodle to a professional groomer and factor in the additional expense. Whichever way you look at it, a well-groomed Doodle is a joy to behold. It can lead to repetitive ear infections, and in severe cases, the dog can go deaf or require an operation to change the shape of his ear canal. If your dog is a low or minimal shedder, then the hair inside the ear flap should be regularly plucked. You can also do this at home or ask your groomer to do it during the visits. Keep an eye out for redness or inflammation of the ear flap or inner ear. You can also ask your groomer for tips. Some owners or a veterinary ear cleaner bathe the inner ears of the doodles with cotton wool and warm water. Symptoms include yellow and brown build-up of tartar along the gum line, inflamed gums, and persistent bad breath. Take things slowly in the beginning. Give him lots of praise, and your Doodle will start looking forward to his teeth brushing sessions. Many have flavors that your Doodle will find tasty. The real benefit comes from the actual action of the brush on the teeth. Continue this until he looks forward to licking the paste. It can be instant or might take a few days. Put a small amount on your finger and then rub it gently on one of the big canine teeth at the front of his mouth. The next step is actually to start brushing! Then, gently move the brush backward and forward. Start with his front teeth only and then gradually do the bottom ones. Labradoodles love games, and with a bit of encouragement and patience, brushing teeth can become a fun task for both of you. Grooming for Labradoodle — Nail Trimming The nails of your Doodle must be kept short for the paws to remain healthy. They can also break easily, and this usually happens at the base of the nail, where blood vessels and nerves are located and will require a trip to the vet. If you can hear the nails clicking on the floor, then they are too long. Most have safety guards to prevent you from cutting the nails too short. You can see where the quick ends on a white nail, but not on a dark nail. Clip only the hook-like part of the nail that turns down. Many dogs dislike having their nails trimmed. You can make it a painless procedure by getting him used to having his paws handled when he is a puppy. If you accidentally cut the quick, stop the bleeding with some styptic powder. Some dogs may have tough nails that are hard to trim, but this may be less stressful for your dog, with less chance of pain or bleeding. Frequent bathing removes natural oils and causes the coat to become dry and harsh. Use a mild shampoo specially formulated for dogs. Stand your doodle in a tub, basin, or bath and put cotton balls in his ears to keep them dry inside. Wet him with warm water and apply shampoo from the neck down. Put a small amount of shampoo on your hands and gently wash his head. Rinse your doodle thoroughly with warm water. To keep the soap out of his eyes, put a dampened wash-cloth over his eye. Rub your doodle dry with a towel and then blow-dry if necessary and if he lets you! Then give him a brush or a comb. Grooming for Labradoodle — Cleaning the eyes If your dog has a discharge, if his eyes get a little sticky, or if he has dried deposits in the corner of his eyes, clean them gently with damp cotton wool. Do not use anything else unless instructed to do so by your vet. Ask your groomer to empty the anal glands every time you take your doodle for grooming. If not done then the blockages can lead to infection. Larger Labradoodles usually can express their own anal glands and do not need to have this done. This does not hurt your labradoodle but be sure to tell your groomer if your labradoodle has had a problem with his anal glands in the past or if you have had your Labradoodles anal glands removed. Grooming for Labradoodle — Brushing a Labradoodle Scruffy Doodles will need a good brushing once a week, whereas Doodles with fleece or wool coats will require an intensive grooming regime to avoid having to be clipped short. How to Brush Your Labradoodle Several brushing and combing sessions a week will keep the average Doodles neat and tidy. Daily brushing is even better if possible. Then go through the coat with a comb to make sure you have no mats or knots anywhere. Choosing the Right Brush Choosing the right brush is very important. Scruffy Doodles need pin brushes, which have long, round-ended stainless-steel or chrome-plated pins and a steel comb. Short and medium-coated Doodles will need bristle brushes and a comb. For the fleece and wool coated Doodles, you will need a slicker brush for removing mats and dead hair. Also, a steel pinned comb to make sure that there are no tangles left. There are also rubber curry combs to polish smooth coats and remove dead hair. When brushing, always check for burrs and other stubborn plant material, mats — which most frequently form behind the ears and under the legs — and any cuts or scrapes on the skin itself. Doodles shed, and some shed more than others. Regular brushing will help to keep the shedding under control. Labradoodle haircuts Although Labradoodle grooming is no small task, with our help it can be an easier one! The Labradoodle is one of the most beloved and recognizable pet pups in the world today. These happy-go-lucky and loving pups have endeared themselves to star-studded celebrities and ordinary families from all walks of life all around the globe. But their hair is something that every owner has to get to grips with. Do Labradoodles Need Grooming? Despite what many people believe and expect, not all Labradoodle dogs are non-shedding. Some Labradoodles can shed quite a lot. And all Labradoodles, whether they shed or not, need weekly or twice-weekly brushing and more detailed grooming every few months. In fact, the less your Labradoodle sheds, the more brushing and grooming your dog is likely to need as we will explain in later sections here. Labradoodles tend to be high-energy, athletic dogs who love to run and play and swim and sometimes roll in very stinky things. For these reasons, you may find yourself needing to bathe, brush and groom your dog with greater frequency after play sessions or outings. Labradoodles are a hybrid dog with one Labrador Retriever parent and one Poodle parent. These two dogs have very different coat types. Poodle Coat The Poodle coat is very dense and curly, but it is single layer i. For some people who are very sensitive to pet dander, Poodles can be a potentially good pet dog choice. The coast is also water repellent on the top layer, and soft and insulating on the under layer. Labs shed year-round. Labradoodle Coats If your Labradoodle inherits more genetic influence from the Poodle parent, the coat is likely to be closer to single layer, dense, thick, curly and mostly non-shedding. This is when you will find out for sure what type of coat your Labradoodle has inherited and how much grooming you will need to do. For high-shedding Labradoodles, you may want to increase this frequency during seasonal sheds. Labradoodles with fleece or wool coats more of the Poodle influence may not require any grooming adjustments at all. How to Groom a Labradoodle These are the recommended steps to do a basic at-home Labradoodle grooming session. It can take a few tries to get the hang of using the undercoat rake, especially because this grooming tool can look kind of scary at first glance. Spritz your dog with detangling spray. If you find tangles as you brush, you can stop and spritz on a bit more detangler to help work them out easily. Brush your dog with the slicker brush. Different groomers have different approaches for grooming dogs with thick coats like the Labradoodle. Continue brushing section by section in this way, stopping to work out tangles as you find them and then continuing on. The comb is the tool that will help you detect smaller tangles that you may have missed with the slicker brush. If you find additional tangles, stop and spritz a bit more detangler and work them out with the slicker brush. Then run the comb over the area one final time to be sure the tangle is gone. This is definitely a personal choice. Most groomers are happy to help in this area. Do any additional maintenance tasks as needed. Labradoodle Grooming Tools When you are just starting out and building your Labradoodle grooming toolkit, you will want to be sure you have these basics—recommended by Labradoodle breeders and professional groomers. This highly rated and popular undercoat rake represents an investment, but it is durable and solid and really gets the job done. Slicker Brushes for Labradoodles A good slicker brush will help you locate tangles and mats, and work them out without causing any discomfort to your pup. For Labradoodles, finding a long-pin brush with angled pins like one of these is key to grooming success. This popular long-pin, angled-pin, large slicker brush is great for grooming all the way down to the undercoat. Once your dog grows up, you may want to use the large brush on the main body coat and a medium brush on the legs and facial areas. This popular slicker brush has a feature many grooming-intensive dog owners just love: a self-cleaning button. One push of the button ejects all the hair trapped in the tines. Labradoodle Comb Labradoodles tend to have such thick coats that it can be easy to miss smaller tangles and mats. All pins have rounded tips for skin safety. This lovely, soft, human-grade detangling spray is made from all natural ingredients and is specifically pH balanced for canine skin. Both for its conditioning effect and its ability to repel debris. You can also use them to trim ear hair, paw hair and hair around the hind quarters. This scissor set has rounded ends for safety and surgical-quality stainless steel construction. However, they need to get accustom to being handled. They should be brushed, have their ears and teeth looked at, and nails handled or trimmed every day. At around nine to sixteen months the adult coat starts to grow in. The puppy coat does not fall out and will start to cause matts. Brushing thoroughly to pull the puppy coat out from the new adult hair is necessary. This could be a good time to consider a good clip to ease the amount of brushing and formation of mats. It is important to start introducing your puppy to the groomer early so when he is older he will be comfortable with the grooming process. Once your Labradoodle puppy has had all of his shots, he can safely be taken to the groomer. Up to this point, handling and brushing your puppy everyday will prepare him for his first trip to the groomer. Let the groomer know you have a puppy and want to have an introductory visit. Even just for your puppy to meet and have a nail clip might be enough to start a good, calm rapport with the groomer. Follow up visits can begin to include a simple session of brushing, washing, drying, nail clip and ear hair pluck. Your puppy and groomer will be thankful for these small visits every weeks so puppy can get used to all of the sights, sounds and sensations till he is ready for a full clip. Grooming Your Adult Labradoodle You can maintain a long fleece coat with thorough brushing weekly. A curly fleece will need more attention than a wavy fleece. Curlier coats will be easier to maintain if it is kept shorter. Many owners have their labradoodles clipped two to four times a year depending on personal preference, lifestyle and curliness of the fleece. They get a full groom with a 1. For your doodle to not look like a poodle, talk to your groomer about what you want. Pictures of a well groomed labradoodle can help. Regular bathing is mostly unnecessary. Even after getting muddy, it will dry and fall off or can be brushed out. If you take your Labradoodle to the groomer regularly, they should take care of the nails adequately. Pay special attention to the ears. The hair in and around the outside of the ear canal clogs the inside and prevents air flow. This can cause ear infections. The hair needs to be pulled out of the ear canal and kept trimmed around the opening and under the ear. This can be done every months. Your groomer should be doing this and will keep it maintained. Also, if you do not use a groomer often, make sure the hair around the anus does not get too long and cause problems with waste build up. Brushing Your Labradoodle When your Labradoodle has short hair, an inch or two, regular brushing with a pin brush or slicker can work just fine. Once the hair gets longer, it is important to make sure you are reaching all the way to the base of the hair. If not, loose hair is not removed below the surface and matts will begin to form. If that hair builds up, it is not going to be possible to clip the hair at a decent length and the only alternative will be to shave the hair close to the skin. In order to keep a coat longer than and inch or so, you will want to use a technique called line brushing. Line Brushing It is simply done by parting the coat with your free hand and brushing the loose hair on the other side of the part, starting at the base of the hair. With every other stroke or so, you can bring down a small bit of the hair being held up by your hand. You will slowly move your hand up that section of coat. Start low on a section of the body and work your way up. Using the edge of the pin brush, start brushing from the part, down the length of the hair. Complete the stroke to the end of the hair. Repeat till smooth and ready to continue. Pick up a small amount of hair from the other side of the part to continue the process, working your way up that section of the body. Establish a routine that you will follow through with or you will end up with a puppy with nails that may rip or cause problems walking properly, ears that have infections, and coats that are severely matted to the skin and cause severe discomfort for your dog. These are the areas that are most prone to matting. Part the hair and brush from the base of the coat in small sections. Many people only brush the surface of the coat and do not realize the dog is matting very badly next to the skin. Remember, if you cannot maintain basic brushing and grooming on your own, then you will need to budget for using a professional groomer. You should still try to clip nails and clean ears weekly at home, and give your dog a brushing at least once a week. BATHING When you groom your puppy or dog, you will want them to have a clean coat so your scissors and clipper blades work efficiently and do not wear down more quickly. Here are some general, simple tips for basic labradoodle grooming when doing your doodle at home. Eyes: Your Labradoodle should always be able to see well and not have hair hanging and restricting vision or growing up and into the eyes from the bridge of the nose! Using blunt tipped scissors, trim the hair over the bridge of nose and in between eyes so vision is not obstructed. Hair that hangs over the eyes should be trimmed neatly across the brow blending down into the sides of the face. If your dog gets eye gunk, use eye wipes every few days to keep them clean. A Labradoodle with long ear hair does NOT look like the standard for the Labradoodle, it looks more like a Cocker spaniel. Shape the ears and blend hair neatly into the top of the head. This will help prevent infections. You can use a clipper with 10 blade for a good length in this area. If the canal has a lot of hair inside, you will need to pluck it out in very small amounts to prevent irritation. Clean ear canal with solution and then use ear powder to eliminate moisture. Paws: Trim paws in a nicely rounded shape so that hair does not hang over the paw and cannot be walked on. Completely clip hair from in between pads on bottom of feet. This is most easily done with an electric clipper and a 30 blade. Keeping the paws shaped nicely will aid in less debris attaching to feet when outside and being drug into your home. Long muzzle hair results in beards that drip with water every time your dog gets a drink. The hair on the sides of the muzzle should be even with the bottom of the lower jaw. This is an area of the body we frequently see with matting. Hair is left to grow and grow and GROW and you not realize it is severely matting close to the tail. This helps prevent matting and urine or feces from building up on the coat when your dog uses the bathroom. Body: If you like a longer coat, more brushing and maintenance will be required. Here are a couple examples of shorter cuts that most find easy to maintain. According to what people are saying, this pup is a hypoallergenic dream come true. The generation of dog you choose will determine how much time, effort and money into maintaining that fabulous fur coat. The first important step in recognizing the needs of your Australian Labradoodle lies in knowing which generation your dog is from. Each Labradoodle generation determines the coat type, and the coat type dictates the level of care and grooming your dog will need. A first generation Labradoodle, which is the offspring between a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle, can be expected to have that is more like the hair of the Labrador retriever. Mate one of the F1 pups with a full-blooded Standard Poodle, and you have a litter of Labradoodles known as the F2B generation; they are second generation Labradoodles that have been crossed back with a Poodle. Two F1 Labradoodles bred with each other will produce F2 dogs, and these dogs will have a wool coat. These are the second generation Labradoodles. The F3 Labradoodles like the multigenerational labradoodle puppies we raise are highly desired for their fleece coats; these coats are the least likely to shed or agitate allergies. You may be wondering at this point just how important the generation of your dog really is. This dog will have a short, shiny coat that is sometimes wavy; sometimes it looks shaggy. Although you may need to trim errant tufts with a pair of scissors, always avoid shaving the coat completely. Close shaves destroys the hair shafts and endanger your dog. Brush this type of coat with a soft bristle brush, and brush in the direction the hair points. This action will help to distribute the natural oils that protect the hair coat and keep it shiny. These oils also help to prevent leaves, twigs and bits of dirt sticking to the coat. You may find that a dog with a hair coat needs only occasional bathing. The increased thickness of the coat will require a longer brushing period because you have to be sure that you do more than straighten out the top layer. Brushing each layer of fur can be tedious work, but your efforts will pay off in the end. Be prepared to commit a couple of days each week to the task of thorough brushing. Nothing else was as soft and luxurious as this fleece, and whoever owned it was respected enough to be the ruler of the kingdom. Owning an F3 or F3B Australian Labradoodle may not improve your position as a successor to the throne, but your Doodle will have the kind of fleece Jason and company were willing to risk their lives for. The fleece coat is non-shedding — perfect for homes where fly-away dog fur is an issue. You may occasionally find a random bit of hair on the floor, but for the most part, any small bits of fleece will end up in your matting comb. The hair you do find in the matting comb will be the undercoat that has died. In fact, the fleece coat on a Labradoodle may need a little more care than the other coat types. An F3 or F3B generation Australian Labradoodle will visit the groomers as often as his Poodle cousin does — about once every four to six weeks — for trimming and clipping. You are still not off the hook just because your Labradoodle is sporting a shorter clip. Plan on combing your dog regularly to minimize tangles. Apply for your puppy today! Our multi-generational Australian labradoodle puppies are wonderful pets! Take me to the application! There are plenty of reasons to visit the groomer. When you tell your groomer you are bringing in a Labradoodle for the works, he or she will likely want to know ahead of time which type of coat your dog has. Your answer will say a lot about how much time it will take for the session. On average, your Doodle will visit the groomer three or four times a year, minimum, for coat care, which includes shampooing, trimming and possibly stripping, which is the removal of dead hairs. If you prefer a shorter clip for your dog or you live in a warmer climate, you may decide that more frequent visits are in order. There are breed standard for trimming and clipping. For example, the preferred length for a Doodle coat is three inches, the ears must be trimmed just so, and the muzzle is reduced to an inch in length. A good groomer will know the standard clip for Australian Labradoodles, but if you find a look you like, show your groomer the picture so it can be duplicated on your dog. You can take on some of the care yourself. One of the first things you can do is brush and comb your dog yourself before you visit your groomer. After all, time is money, and the time you save this professional is time he or she can put into the clipping rather than the detangling. Australian Labradoodle breeders and owners recommend these grooming tips for all Doodles, regardless of generation. When Your Dog Is a Puppy The cute little fluff ball cradled in your arms will quickly learn to look to you for everything. Talk to your pup while you are brushing her. The objective here is far less about the brushing and more about associating pleasant feelings when you touch her face, feet, and other sensitive areas. Most oatmeal-based shampoos are considered non-toxic and soothing for young pups, but your puppy will not need as much bathing and coat care as older dogs. The Tireless Teens Dogs love to explore, and they are attracted to new experiences by scent. Your dog will want to roll around in the odors that intrigue her, wearing them like the latest fashion trend for all to notice. Here are some quick tips: Begin with the appropriate shampoo. Have your dog sit on a shower mat; it gives a feeling sure-footedness Brush and comb thoroughly, then shampoo Rinse thoroughly and then rinse again — shampoo residue can cause itching Towel dry and air dry After shampooing, let your Doodle dry completely before brushing him again. They will tell you that there is no better canine companion for their home or for their kids. When you are looking for the right Australian Labradoodle for your family, talk to the breeder. Good breeders can tell you about the coat your puppy has and what kind of coat his parents had. Ask questions until you are satisfied that you are getting the dog you want and are ready to care for. Top 5 Labradoodle Haircuts Be sure to check out our 2-part series on types of Doodle haircuts, with tons more pictures that cover overall body styles and variations of styles. Different groomers may have different ideas of what the following types of cuts are. If any of these pictures represent what you want your Labradoodle to look like, be sure to bookmark this page for easy access when dropping them off at the groomer! With the hair slightly rounder and longer around the face and legs, the Labradoodle teddy bear cut gives your pup the most adorable puppy-like look. As the name hints, the goal is to give your Labradoodle a puppy-like look with shorter hair on the body, and longer on the head. This look is not for the faint-hearted, but a dog as cute as a Labradoodle will surely pull this off. Labradoodle Long Clip Almost the same as the Labradoodle short clip, but not quite. The Labradoodle long clip is great for emphasizing those beautiful waves and an effortless, shaggy look. However, longer hair can also trap in more dirt, so make sure to set aside enough time for daily brushing. Here you can check out the best brushes for Labradoodles. A comb is also great for brushing hard-to-reach areas like the paws, face, and ears. Dog Clippers — When it comes to grooming, you are going to need a set of clippers to get the job done. Which ones should you choose? These are our favorite grooming scissors for Doodles. Dog Shears — Are you ready to take your grooming to the next level? Detangler Sprays — One of the best hacks for hassle-free brushing is having a detangler spray at hand. Use it before each brushing or just before bathtime, a good detangler spray cuts the time spent on tangles in half. Shampoo — A proper grooming routine includes an occasional bathtime. Whether your Labradoodle struggles with skin sensitivities or tends to shed a lot, there are tons of different options available on the market. Here are the top 6 dog shampoos that Labradoodle owners swear by. Ear Cleaning Products — With those cute floppy ears, Labradoodles are prone to ear infections due to the restricted airflow. Take a look at some of the highest rated dog ear cleaner products that help prevent and treat minor ear infections. Grooming Tables — Every Labradoodle owner knows how difficult it can be to groom a Doodle with one hand, while trying to keep them still with the other. A grooming table will take care of all that you still need to do the grooming though… and save you from back pain. Check out the best dog grooming tables or create a DIY grooming table. Be sure to check out our guide on dealing with matted hair , and another about the line brushing method. Bathing: Before a haircut or after a muddy playtime, your Labradoodle will need a thorough wash. Typically, once a week should be perfectly enough. However, some pups might need a couple of times a week. Once in a while, you might want to use a special dog ear cleaner to prevent any infections. Here you can check our guide on Doodle ear infection symptoms, treatments, and prevention. Eye gunk: Gently remove any eye gunk you notice, as this will prevent discoloration around the eyes and bad smell. If you can do it daily, great! Here is our step-by-step video tutorial guide that includes the entire Doodle grooming process from head to paw. For example, the best Labradoodle haircuts for summer would be short so your pup has an easier time cooling down. The Labradoodle puppy cut is the most popular Labradoodle haircut. However, we recommend you choose high-quality tools, as they will last you a longer time. As a Labradoodle puppy starts to develop an adult coat, you should start with regular grooming. The sooner you introduce your puppy to the whole process of grooming, the easier it will be for them to get used to it.
