Although they were not considered an official breed as we know them today, this relatively large and muscular dog was a valuable farm worker. The American Bulldog has similarities with the English Bulldog , but today, these two breeds are quite different. That is the last step before gaining full recognition and becoming a full AKC member. This famous working and companion dog is gaining popularity once again, and their numbers are on the rise all over the United States. We decided to bring you our list of American Bulldog fun facts. It was a stocky and powerful dog that was in charge of various tasks on British farms and was used as a catch dog. Europeans started traveling to the New World, and they took their working dogs with them. Many of those working dogs were Old English Bulldogs. I also had the honor and pleasure of hosting Torsten, his owner, and his breeder at my home when they traveled to the United States for the first time after a Sieger Show. A few years later I imported another Margman female black and red who was bred to Torsten. Her puppies were wonderful and she enjoyed a nice life in Colorado. She does jump up to take toys etc so again training will be needed to rectify this. She does know some basic commands. She loves human interaction and isn't interested in treats or toys. She can be picky about which dogs she wants to interact with. A large secure garden is essential. She does pull on her lead when excited but calms down and walks quite well. Neena needs an adult only family or children over 15 due to her size and jumping up which she does when excited. She needs training in most things but is a nice natured dog. She isnt a needy dog so can be quite independent. Her favourite thing to do is run. So a large secure garden would be beneficial or access to a secure field. Ruby is gentle and motivated with food and treats so training should be achievable. We would recommend no small children due to Ruby's love of running and lack of spacial awareness. Ruby likes attention but isn't a cuddly dog. Arnold is our gentle giant who needs an experienced new family who have the knowledge to offer him the training he needs and the strength to work with him. Arnold is gentle with people and adores attention. He does not like his ears touching probably due to the horrendous cropping done to them by someone. He takes food and treats very gently and hasn't shown any issues with other dogs he has met. He just wants to play. He is however very strong on his lead and does not like cats or small animals.
