I don't know how long vets etc have been advising the 5 minute per month rule but when I had my last dog Irish Setter I was never made aware of not over exercising until he was about 8 months or more. Setters are extremely hyper active dogs By the time I found out he was used to this so I couldn't put the clock back even if I had wanted to.
