It also conducts various events for purebred dogs, and regulates the activities of involvement of dogs on these staged events. The most famous event conducted by AKC is their annual event — National Dog show, where participants can enter their purebred dogs all around America to compete on various skills. English golden retriever is classified in the terms of AKC as an English purebred dog. British purebred golden retrievers differ slightly from original Scottish bred retrievers. Types of certification include CHIC certification, Hip certification, age, eye, and color coat certification which allows or disapproves the fact of a golden retriever being purebred or not along the lines of AKC standards. Breed standards are classified on the basis of traits like general appearance — which classifies it into having an overall personality of being sporty, stud, indoor loving or outdoors loving. A standard size is defined for being eligible for a certain breed, apart from this — temperament, characteristics, eyes, neck; ears all have a certain threshold to which every purebred dog must fit into. General Appearance — The English Golden Retriever has been classified into a sports category, so they are powerful, agile and energetic. They have a hearty kind of personality and are more emotionally attached with physical attributes like being burly, sturdy and athletic. They have a good speed and are considered to be a hunting dog. So, a general overview is seen to be a fit healthy dog running around and playing with other dogs or their owners. Characteristics — Golden retrievers are characterized to be a good family dog breed along with being smart, agile, kid friendly, easy to train and a decent watch dog breed. They have a fluffy and cute appearance and cover up most of the necessary qualities a good dog must possess. Along with this, they are quite well built, powerful and brawny. Temperament — Overall a good temperament, they are amiable, gregarious, dependable and reliable. They do not generally get nervous or weak when it comes to interacting with other dogs, they usually do not quarrel on companionship of fellow dogs, and are not usually dominated, similar they do not like to show their power and get into fights. They have a deep snout which is nearly as long as their skull. Quite a big head when it comes to comparison with other breeds, and built to be strong and supporting the activities of mouth. Eyes — They have very expressive eyes, medium large and are slightly triangular in shape. They convey a friendly expression and show them to be quite intelligent. They have close fitting rims on the sides and both eyes are set well apart for a wide field of view. Generally, a dark gold color and in some cases medium gold for purebred dogs is acceptable. Ears — Ears are quite short and are located just above the eye and falling down to the length of cheek. The front edge of both the ears is well attached behind two adjacent eyes, for a quick test, both ears and can be pulled forward and the forward tip should cover the eye — which is considered to be the ideal length. Mouth — Having a sharp scissors teeth bite, teeth must be perfectly aligned with each other, misalignment is not approved and an incorrect level bite is penalized. The outer side of the incisors placed at the lower segment touches the upper segment of incisors at the inner portion of the teeth alignment. Under bite or overbite is not approved to be classified as purebred of English Golden Retriever. Neck — Having a muscular appearance, they have a medium length neck, and are merging into strong bulky shoulders — which are strong and stiff. Forequarters — They have a strong and well coordinated forequarters and ability of free movement based on support of the hindquarters respectively. Body — Since they are agile and energetic, body is very well balanced and coordinated with legs, neck and the backbone. Chest is quite deep, and the brisket extends to the length of elbow. Ribs are long and well extended through the length of the respective hindquarters. Loins are short and muscular and quite deep with a small amount of tuck-up, too much tuck-up is eliminated. Feet — Feet are medium sized, and a good support of knuckles for agile movement is seen, possession of hair is not mandatory, and can be trimmed according to liking. Tail — English Golden Retrievers have a muscular tail that is thick in appearance which extends to the point of the hock. Tail follows the line of the back reaching to the rear part of the hindquarters. An agile action should be followed by the tail bones. Having a good reach with long legs, the position of legs is well placed with each other and no interference or disturbance from front and rear is seen. Once a more rapid movement is seen feet converge towards the center for prior balance. Coat — A well built coat but at the same time resilient and smooth, the coat does not seem harsh or dirty but is silky, clean and fully fledged. The coat length must be precise, too long or short are not approved, and the natural color or appearance of coat should not be altered. Color — They have primarily a rich golden color which has a glowing and shiny appearance, and may contain a few shades. With the aspect of age, few white marking can be considered, but not many. Body should not be pale or dark, and manual shading is not approved. Size — The average size of males must be around inches, while females must be in the threshold of 21 to 22 inches. Deviation up to less than one inch is approved, but more than one inch can be penalized. Weight for male dog is pounds and pounds for female dog. Limited Registration Limited registration restricts breeding. Essentially, the generations of litters have different rights. Our dogs have full breeding registration. Your puppy, will have limited registration. Unless you obtain breeding rights from us, and from the AKC, any puppies that your dog produces cannot be registered with the AKC. Breeding Rights Breeding rights are obtained by following multiple channels. First, you must purchase breeding rights from West Coast Cream Goldens. Unfortunately, this is not something we can help you with. When you purchase breeding rights from West Coast Cream Goldens, we will provide you with all of the documentation you will need to prove that your puppy is a purebred English Golden Retriever with a reputable, honorable lineage. Disclaimer: West Coast Cream Goldens does not recommend or condone breeding your puppy before the age of two years. This can lead to complications. Share this:. Such cream Golden Retrievers are frequently being touted as being healthier, of having better temperament, of having stronger longevity and the implicit suggestion is that they therefore are more valuable than the more golden-colored Golden Retrievers bred in North America. Due to these common marketing ploys the average puppy buyer sometimes mistakes such light-colored Golden Retrievers for being a separate breed. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is only one Golden Retriever breed, governed by the breed standard endorsed by various recognized Kennel Clubs around the world. The Golden Retriever Club of America would like to emphasize to breeders and puppy buyers alike that the cream color has always been part of the full spectrum of colors found in our breed. Feathering may be lighter than rest of coat. With the exception of graying or whitening of face or body due to age, any white marking, other than a few white hairs on the chest, should be penalized according to its extent. Allowable light shadings are not to be confused with white markings. Predominant body color which is either extremely pale or extremely dark is undesirable. Some latitude should be given to the light puppy whose coloring shows promise of deepening with maturity. Any noticeable area of black or other off-color hair is a serious fault. The photo below furthermore illustrates the common shades of cream and gold found on this continent and all of these particular dogs are bred right here in North America. This broad range of color is not only commonly found around the world, but both light and dark shades can also occur in the very same Golden Retriever litter, with full siblings varying in color from very light cream to a rich gold. Some breeders favor different styles of Golden Retrievers and some may even have a personal preference for a lighter or a darker golden, but good breeders never focus exclusively on a specific color, since this would unnecessarily narrow the gene pool and may cause genetic predispositions towards hereditary health issues to become magnified over time. Good Golden Retrievers of differing styles should, however, all possess strong breed type. They should be readily recognized as Golden Retrievers, whether they are a rich gold or a pale cream. All Golden Retrievers across the world are descended from this original Scottish stock. You can also find very dark colored Golden Retrievers overseas, just as you can find very pale cream North American bred Goldens. It is our position that a breeding program which focuses mainly on color should be viewed with some skepticism. If claims are being made that the light creams are more valuable or healthier than darker colored Golden Retrievers, then the buyer should be aware that such statements are blatantly incorrect. We instead urge all new puppy owners to carefully review all recommended health clearances and ask the appropriate questions about longevity in the pedigree of any puppy. It is never the color of a Golden Retriever that determines its temperament and working ability or its health and potential longevity. Instead the quality of a Golden Retriever will be determined by the care the individual breeder has taken, by adhering to the standard when breeding, as well as by doing careful pedigree research and screening for soundness in mind and body. I have carefully selected my breeding stock our family pets from countries all over the world. By choosing animals from all corners of the earth I have created my own individual outstanding purebred lines. In my quest to create my breeding stock I looked for versatility in each blood line. I looked at the temperament and personality in each individual dog. I wanted a variety of coat colors from bright white to light cream, but the individual animals genetic makeup and overall personality was the most important to me. I searched records to see how long different bloodlines lived because I wanted my puppies to live long healthy. I looked for animals that moved with grace and stood proud. I wanted beauty and poise. I wanted to produce puppies that would only enhance the English Cream Golden Retriever breed. I wanted my animals to create their own legacy. We promise that the puppy has been loved by us and handled numerous times every day in a loving way. We promise we have done everything that we could think of to ensure that your puppy will be a happy well balanced individual. We promise to tell you everything about his personality that we are aware of. We promise all of this is to the best of our knowledge. Our English Cream Golden Retrievers are members of our family. We love them, we play with them, we camp with them, we swim with them. Some of them want to sit on us, and want us to hold them like we did when they were 10 pounds. But now they are 85 pounds. We laugh at them, we laugh with them, we talk with them, and they talk to us. They walk beside us, not in front of us. We teach them right from wrong and their world falls apart at the first "No". Some of us dress them up in silly stuff and they wear it all day without a complaint, some of us tie there ears together with a hair tie to make them look like a bunny. And they rather like it. We go to them with tears in our eyes and they listen. Sometimes they stand or sit besides us for hours just to see if we need them. They are never ever mean to us, they never get mad at us, they will listen to what is bothering us when no one else has time. They prance and their tails wag every time we glance at them. They love us so very much. They have baskets of toys here, there, and everywhere. They have daily contests to see who can hold the most toys in their mouths. They love to play fetch with us. They are our pride and our joy and I do not know how we could live without them.
Saber is a certified therapy dog as well - he loves people and loves to visit. .Saber at Three Below doing therapy and some casual shots Starting to fill out! He has had reds and tans too! Good thing she never looks at my websight or she'd kill me lol: Michelle and saber winning it all st the fair news paper article Saber doing agility walked right on the equipment first time Sabers brother at only 8 months old. .Like this male Saber consistantly produces bigger and better then himself Sabers 2 year old brother and letter from owners Good Morning Robin, I figured since Max just turned 2 I'd update you. He was born on 17 Dec , to Blaze and Ziva. Had him at the vet's on Monday and he weighed in at pounds, so his weight has been pretty steady for the past few months, but he has grown taller. Currently he likes to rest his chin on the dining room table when he watches me on the laptop. Always ready in case there is an opportunity to be pet. Loves riding in the car, and gets along great with other dogs, but still apprehensive with new people, or with someone he hasn't seen in a while. I always bring treats with me to help with the introductions. Loves going with me to different businesses where allowed and has never been a problem. Great on hikes, and he carries his own backpack and supplies. The picture was taken this morning while he was waiting for his breakfast. As you can see, the silver is starting to really show. We get stopped all the time when we're out and about because of his looks, and I'm always asked if it's ok for them to take his picture because they've never seen another German Shepherd like him. I've had too many offers to sell him to count. The vet's office is really surprised at his disposition because he takes the poking and proding without incident considering his size. As always there are people worried about him because of his size, but they soon learn their fears are unfounded. Overall I'd have to say he's been a great dog. Saber sons from his first litter out of a very small female! Both at 10 months old are over lbs and 30 " high at the shoulder. The rare tri color sable male is lbs the black and silver at 10 months old. When we take them for walks they strut like the world is looking at them. I wanted to get another puppy before he passed away, so that our older dog could help raise the puppy. After a while, I found your website, and looked through it, repeatedly. I was impressed by what you detailed. Large GSDs, with calm temperaments, good health, and long lives. I then researched your reputation. I am a trained investigator, being suspicious is a career hazard. I could only find one, single complaint.I wasn't really looking for a "breed standard" GSD.I was looking for more. Another white shepherd, with a straight back and good hips. I called you, and discussed what I was looking for.A large white GSD, with a good protective drive, lower prey drive, and a mellow disposition. Well, it is a year later. And we have gotten far more that what I had hoped for. Physically, he is an amazing example of a German Shepherd. He is a solid pounds, with incredible muscle tone, and a massive head. He has yet to start filling out. I expect him to be at least pounds. In all honesty, I have been a bit startled by how quickly he grew, and how large he has become. My veterinarian, who has been practicing for 35 years, has remarked that she has never seen another dog like him. She is very impressed with his bone structure, his stance, and how proportional he is. His strong, straight back; his massive head, his size, and his strength are all things that she has noted. She has suggested that I breed him, because she believes that it would be a shame not to pass his genetics on.He is, quite simply. When we take him out in public, he creates quite a stir. People routinely approach us to compliment him, and how beautiful he is. He has been described as "gorgeous", "regal", and "majestic". The fact that our eight year old can control him in public only adds to people's fascination with him. He is very obedient, and was easy to train. He is very intelligent. He is affectionate, very loving, and very playful. Despite his size, he is quite gentle with those he loves. His protective drive is very appropriate. He is wary of strangers until properly introduced. He physically places himself between my children and other people. After being taught by our older shepherd, he now regularly patrols the perimeter of our property. I have included a few pictures. Unfortunately, it is hard to get good angles of him, because he thinks my taking pictures is some sort of game. The pictures truly do not do him any justice. We will be picking up another puppy from you. Quite frankly, I think that you have managed to produce amazing examples of what GSDs should be.Large and powerful; extremely intelligent, loyal and gentle; superior health and longevity, with a very appropriate protective drive. You have surpassed all of my expectations, and our family thanks you.Andrew Sadowski. Twitter LinkedIn First, A boxer is a boxer whether they are deaf or not. A deaf boxer needs the same things a hearing boxer needs. They just need it in a different way. Just like humans rely on other senses when one is impaired- dogs do the same, they compensate. Deaf boxers utilize vibration and movement to determine what you are saying. He is also loveable and very playful and smart, as you would expect from any boxer. He has carefully placed black spots that looks like a kid started to paint him. One spot on each eye, a tiny drip on his ear and a splash on his nubbin. He has an over-sized tongue that hangs out of the side of his mouth… almost always. He can give a bit of attitude and stubbornness as a typical boxer. Take out all the words deaf from this description — would you know that he is deaf? Probably not, right? Here is a great book that gives great training techniques and is very useful. Always remember that your deaf boxer is a part of your family. They love, they wiggle, and they FEEL just like any other boxer. Thank you to James Lee and his family for sharing such a beautiful description of Cassius and for all the adorable pictures as well. This is largely due to the fact that for many years, a white coat was a death sentence for a boxer puppy, and breeders routinely killed their white puppies. However, white boxers are wonderful dogs, as beautiful and fun as their fawn and brindle counterparts! The vast majority of them suffer no disability as a result of their coloration, and those that do can still enjoy a long and happy life with just a little accommodation. Below you will find answers to some frequently asked questions about white and deaf boxers. White Boxers Q: Are white boxers rare? A: White boxers are not rare. Q: Are white boxers a recent development in the breed? A: White boxers have been around as long as boxers have, and though it is not considered appropriate to breed them today, they were even included in early German boxer breeding programs. A: No. Albinos completely lack pigment in their skin, hair, or eyes. White boxers have mostly unpigmented fur, but they typically have dark noses, dark eyes, and patches of pigmented skin under their fur. White boxers are not the result of any genetic birth defect; they are genetically normal dogs who have white fur. Q: Are white boxers deaf? A: White boxers are more likely to be born deaf than are fawn or brindle boxers, but even still, the majority of white boxers can hear. There are no definitive figures regarding the incidence of deafness in white boxers. Q: Do white boxers have special health considerations? A: Some people claim that white boxers have a higher risk of developing cancer than do fawn or brindle boxers, but this has never been proven to be true. White boxers, do, however, sunburn more easily, and sun exposure can contribute to skin cancer. Using doggie sunscreen, putting a t-shirt on your white boxer, and, of course, limiting sun exposure during the midday can help reduce their risk of sunburn. Q: Do white boxers behave differently than colored boxers? A: White boxers are exactly the same in temperament as their fawn and brindle siblings. Q: Can white boxers be registered with the AKC? A: While the AKC does not recognize the use of white boxers for breeding, they do offer an American Kennel Club Limited Registration and will assign the dog an AKC number for use in performance events, such as obedience and agility. Any puppies produced by a dog with a limited registration will be denied registration by the AKC. Deafness in Boxers Q: What causes deafness in boxers? A: While many dogs acquire some degree of hearing loss with age, congenital deafness in boxers is usually caused by the lack of pigmented skin in the inner ear, resulting in the atrophy of nerve endings within a few weeks of birth. Congenital deafness in white boxers is not associated with any other health issues. Q: Are deaf boxers trainable? A: Yes, deaf boxers are trainable. Dogs born deaf also are very attuned to other stimuli around them, like vibrations in the floor and changes of light, and you can take advantage of these stimuli for training purposes. Deaf dogs are as trainable as any other, but they may require that you learn new techniques and skills. Q: Can I take my deaf dog on off-leash walks? A: As a general rule, deaf boxers should never be allowed off-leash in unenclosed areas. Since they will not hear you if you call them, you must remain in physical control of your deaf dog anytime there is a danger of him running off or getting into trouble. Q: Are deaf boxers aggressive? A: Deaf boxers, like hearing boxers, have individual personalities, and they are not more likely to be aggressive than any other dog. Some people worry that deaf boxers will react aggressively if they are startled by touch. However, deaf dogs are accustomed to their disability, and just because it is easier to surprise a deaf dog does not mean the dog will respond inappropriately when startled. Additionally, deaf dogs can and should be desensitized to touch using positive reinforcement. Deaf dogs adapt well to their disability and do not necessarily require another dog whose lead they can follow. Oftentimes, any new dog hearing or deaf will follow the lead of a pre-existing dog hearing or deaf in a household.

Once you are sure your dog can handle the adult food, you can switch over completely. Take the list to your vet to gain extra insight and learn which would be the best option for your Boxer puppy. Daily Feeding Recommendations. Every bite of food will be detrimental or beneficial to this breed's health. Overview Food is fuel both for a growing Boxer pup and large strong adult Boxer dogs. The type of food that you offer for both meals and snacks has a direct affect on your Boxer's health both now and in the future. Also of importance is a feeding schedule and making sure that you offer the proper amounts. This section will cover everything you need to know in order to provide a well-balanced, nutritious diet for your Boxer puppy, adult, or senior. How Often to Feed a Boxer Puppy or Dog Let's look at a summary and then the details: Puppies under 12 weeks: free-fed Puppies and up to the 2-year mark: 3 meals per day Adults 2 years and up: 1 to 2 meals per day Young pups 8 to 12 weeks old: Very young pups, and particularly those that are a bit underweight, should be free-fed for at least the first month at their new home. This is the method of having fresh food accessible at all times. For a pup still trying to gain their bearings, you may need to lead them to their bowl throughout the day. Note that food should be thrown out and the bowl washed and then refilled several times per day as opposed to just topping off the food since pups may not be interested in stale food. Growing pup to 2 year mark: It's best to get a Boxer onto a feeding schedule as soon as possible. Schedules of anything feeding, exercise, sleep time, etc. Young Boxers often struggle a bit to fill out and during the 1 to 2-year mark Boxers can go through a 'skinny phase', so 3 meals per day, plus snacks, can work well during this time. Adults 2 years and up: Most adult Boxers that have reached their final adult weight and height do well with 2 meals per day, plus snacks. If snacks are regular and of substance, a Boxer may be perfectly content with 1 main meal per day. Note that this breed is prone to bloat, so you want to avoid letting a Boxer get so hungry that he rapidly gulps his food down. If that is the case, increase the frequency of meals or use a slow-feed bowl; stainless-steel is best, something like Mr. How Much to Feed a Boxer Puppy or Dog The exact serving size that is appropriate for each Boxer varies and depends mainly on age and current weight but also is affected by activity level, health status, type of food wet vs dry , and individual metabolism. This said, there are general guidelines: Puppies usually require about 55 calories for each pound of body weight. Young pups might eat a bit over a cup a day, older pups can eat up to 3 cups a day. Adults need fewer calories per pound of body weight than their younger counterparts, about .Depending on an adult Boxer dog's size, food is usually in the 3 to 5 cup per day range. To know exactly how much to give your Boxer, know your dog's weight. Don't guess since that can be wildly off. Then, look at the feeding guidelines on the bag of kibble; these are listed by age and weight and are usually pretty spot on. Dry Kibble vs Wet Canned Though many Boxers may prefer wet canned food, dry kibble is better to maintain healthy teeth and gum and a strong jaw. You'll still have to provide some level of at-home dental care , but the crunch of a hard kibble will work to some extent to remove plaque. Additionally, dry food seems to keep the stools firmer and healthier. If your Boxer is a finicky eater and balks at dry food, try mixing in just a bit of canned stick with the same brand or add just a bit of water or low-sodium chicken or beef broth. Grain vs Grain-free It's wasn't that long ago that putting a dog on a grain-free diet wasn't much of a big deal. Some grains, especially those with gluten, can cause excessive gas , upset stomach, and other issues. And, some dogs are allergic to wheat or gluten which can manifest as itching and other skin problems. But recently, a suspected link between certain grain-free dog foods and dilated cardiomyopathy DCM, a canine heart disease caused veterinary experts to take pause. And, since Boxers are one of the breeds prone to DCM, it's important to understand where things are on this. Though it was first thought that any grain-free diet may be the cause, the current thought is that it is a BEG diet, meaning boutique small specialty brands that have exotic meats non-traditional meats like alligator, kangaroo, bison, venison, etc. Many more studies need to be done for conclusive answers to be found. For now, it is recommended to offer healthy grains and this can be done while avoiding gluten if your Boxer has an issue with it. Navigating the Many Choices of Dog Foods What to Avoid: Many brands are guilty of having at least one of these elements that you do not want your Boxer's food to have: No grains at all. Until conclusive studies are complete, play it safe and offer a kibble with some level of healthy grains unless the veterinarian recommends otherwise Boxer needs to be on a specific grain-free diet, etc. Synthetic preservatives. These can be toxic. Butylated hydroxyanisole BHA , butylated hydroxytoluene BHT , and ethoxyquin, just to name a few, are linked to behavioral issues, organ damage, and some forms of cancer. Artificial coloring. Common dyes like Yellow 5 and 6 and Blue 2 are linked to behavioral and health issues. Artificial flavor enhancers. MSG is one of the worst, it is linked to anxiety, rapid heartbeat, and breathing issues. Generic animal digest, meats, oils, or fats. When anything is listed as 'animal', it is derived from a 4-D animal: dead, dying, diseased or disabled animals and can literally be any meat from any animal at all: minks from mink farms, roadkill, zoo animals, expired meats from supermarkets and butcher shops, etc. Fillers are cheap ingredients that are put into dog food to bulk it up but they have little to no nutritional value. The 'food' goes right through their system; a dog will eat but be hungry again soon afterward and this is one cause of coprophagia eating feces. These are the animal parts that are not fit for human consumption and includes such things as spinal tissue, lungs, spleens, hooves, tails, undeveloped eggs, etc. Made outside North America since meats from overseas can be questionable. The kibble will be preserved using a vitamin blend often listed as mixed tocopherals and will be naturally flavored and colored. Some level of grains. Grains that are generally well-tolerated include rice, oatmeal, and quinoa. Wholesome real meats, veggies, and fruits. Some ingredients sourced from Norway are fine; this country has very strict guidelines. If you are not sure what is in your Boxer's food, investigate it. Know about grain content and the presence or lack of additives and subpar ingredients. Recommended Dog Food for Boxers Please note that the following recommendations are formulas with some level of healthy grains; if you did not read the previous ' Grain vs Grain-free ' you may wish to do so before continuing on. This meets all of the requirements of what you're looking for. There are no synthetic preservatives; vitamins are used instead shown as mixed tocopherals. The grains in this formula are generally very well tolerated: quinoa technically a seed , oatmeal, and barley. There are 3 different recipes to choose from: beef, chicken, or lamb. Other ingredients include peas, salmon, carrots, apples, blueberries, and flaxseed. There are good levels of glucosamine chondroitin vital for joint health , antioxidants, and omega fatty acids important for skin and coat health. There are no by-products, fillers, or generic meats or oils and this is sourced and made in the USA. For this one, the base is chicken a very classic tasty protein that most dogs love , along with oatmeal, brown rice, ground barley, peas, flaxseed, carrots, tomato pomace, spinach, sweet potatoes, apples, and blueberries. All other ingredients shown on the label are either vitamins and minerals or natural preservatives. This has no wheat, corn, soy, meat by-products, artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, and this is made in the USA. This brand offers a top-quality formula that is gluten-free. There is no wheat, corn, soy, by-products, artificial flavors, artificial colors, or chemical preservatives. The base is chicken and brown rice and other ingredients include white rice, oatmeal, rice bran, avocado, flax seed, herring, and kelp. It has good levels of omega fatty acids and antioxidants. The one trade-off for having it be gluten-free is that it does not contain any fruit; however, it does have all required vitamins and minerals and you can always offers a small amount of fresh fruit as snacks. Homemade Vs Commercial Commercial dog food is convenient and, if you choose a superior brand, it will ensure that your Boxer receives all needed nutrients and is on a well-rounded and well-balanced diet. And, home cooked food gives you complete control over what your Boxer eats and does not eat and can be tweaked to satisfy a finicky eater. So, there are pros and cons to each. Whether you opt for a top-quality kibble or you use good cuts of meat and fish and fresh produce in homemade meals, neither option is super-cheap. Because, of course, you get what you pay for. But, if you buy in bulk and lean toward frozen vegetables and fruits, home cooking may be a bit less expensive. That said, when you prepare meals at home, you'll need to offer a good daily vitamin and mineral supplement even good brands of kibble need to add this in because it's nearly impossible for a dog to receive all nutrients just from food alone. Some of the foods that can be incorporated into meals include: Proteins: Chicken, turkey, veal, beef, fish mackeral, haddock, salmon, whitefish, cod, and others , eggs, and certain beans kidney, lima Vegetables: Carrots, broccoli in moderation , potato, sweet potato, sugar snap peas, green beans, spinach Fruits: Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, pumpkin Grains: Quinoa, oatmeal, rice Related Articles: Best Snacks, Chews, and Treats for a Boxer - A great rundown of the difference between these 3 things and top recommendations. This is one of the finest family dogs in the world: cheerful, demonstrative, trustworthy with everyone, and forgiving of any mistakes made by inexperienced owners. Give this breed two brisk walks each day, play fetch games, and take him out for a good run once a week, and he is adaptable to almost any lifestyle. Friendly with everyone strangers, children, dogs, cats, smaller pets , his bark is welcoming rather than protective. You must control his tendency to chew on objects and to mouth your hands -- provide a box filled with toys so he can carry things around in his mouth. A Golden Retriever remains enthusiastically puppy-like for many years, so early obedience training is required to instill calmness and good manners. Eager to please and wonderfully responsive, he is nonetheless distracted by exciting sights and sounds, so you must be both patient and persistent. The mind and heart of a Golden is sweet and gentle, but his body is robust — until he's taught not to pull on the leash, you'll need good biceps to walk him. Our beautiful girl was born last April and we collected her in June. We named her Sienna and she is just the most adorable and loving girl. She loves going for long walks and running round the fields surrounding our home, although she does manage to seek out every muddy puddle to roll around in. She loves nothing more than playing hide and seek with her many toys and is so clever, she always finds them. My favourite time is in the evening, when she becomes sleepy and snuggles on the sofa with us, being totally pampered. We absolutely adore her and feel so blessed she is part of our family. Thanks again Jude. Do your research — Before purchasing anything online, including pets, look up reviews for the site, or person, you are buying from. If the seller declines, challenge them on why. Choose your payment method wisely — If you decide to go ahead with the purchase, avoid paying by bank transfer as that offers you little protection if you become a victim of fraud. Instead, use a credit card or a payment service such as PayPal. Buying a Puppy The Golden Retriever is an excellent choice for a family pet, and though a sporting breed, it is one of the most adaptable. A Golden can be all things to all people, from fulfilling its original function in the shooting field, to service dog for search and rescue, guide dog, hearing dog for the deaf and working dog for the police and customs. Most are intelligent, unfailingly cheerful and gentle making them ideal companions for families with children. As family pets they can be taught to compete successfully in obedience, agility and working trials as well as in the show ring. There are, however several points to bear in mind before you purchase your new puppy. Owning a puppy is a responsibility requiring a serious commitment from all members of the family, for this will be a partnership that can last anything up to 12 — 15 years. Perhaps at this point we ought to remind you of a few of their less attractive traits. Goldens shed their coats frequently and copiously. Do not buy one if you are house-proud, have pale coloured carpets or a dodgy vacuum cleaner. Goldens are large dogs with an uncanny knack of finding all the muddiest puddles. Some are great wallowers — yours is bound to be one of them! Faeces are a by-product of all dogs, which we all have to dispose of responsibly. It is one of the more unpleasant facts of dog ownership, and most public places now require you to pick up after your dog. Veterinary fees are expensive, so it makes sense to insure your dog, indeed most breeders will insist you do so. Goldens do not make good kennel dogs, most are real couch potatoes, who unerringly find the most comfortable sofas and the choicest position in front of the fire. Some Goldens are great landscape architects, if your garden is a show piece, having your own Ground Force team may not go down too well. The garden must also be well fenced with sturdy boundaries, like Anne Robinson, puppies will always find the Weakest Link. Although usually tractable and obedient, given an inch, most will take the whole nine yards! If you still insist that a Golden is the dog for you, read on. Choosing your puppy. Always buy from a breeder where you can see the mother with her puppies. This will give you an idea of how the puppies will turn out. If the breeder does not own the stud dog, ask to see photographs of him. Make sure that both the sire and the dam of the puppies have the appropriate health clearances, and ask to see the certificates. Click on the diamond for an explanation of the health schemes. Reputable breeders will have their puppies checked out by their veterinary surgeon prior to sale and bear in mind you may be asked to sign a sales contract. Are they scrupulously clean? Is the breeder making provision for proper socialisation of the litter? Are the puppies happy and out-going, with clear eyes and skin? If yours is a family with very young children, do not go for the cute, shy puppy sitting on his own in the corner. Opt for the middle-of-the-road puppy that interacts well with his siblings, is lively and happy without being too dominant, bold or brash. A Golden puppy should be confident and interested to explore his surroundings. If colour is important to you, bear in mind the puppies will all look considerably lighter at this age than they will end up. The colour of their ears gives an approximate guide to their ultimate colour. What may appear to be a quiet puppy may be the life and soul of the litter who has just had a mad half hour and worn himself out! Make sure you have been given all the Kennel Club documentation and copies of all appropriate health clearances with the puppy, an advice sheet and a diet sheet. Stick to the diet suggested by the breeder until the puppy has settled well into his new home before you make any changes. Well bred puppies should also be Kennel Club Registered, this is proof of lineage. There is no reason not to register a litter, it cost very little. Be wary of breeders offering puppies un-registered. Puppies should also come with advice of worming, vaccination and some offer an insurance cover note to cover pups for first few weeks. Do your homework. Buy, or borrow from the library, all the books you can on Goldens. Puppies do not sit gift wrapped on a shelf — be prepared to wait for the puppy of your choice. Caring for your new puppy. Training should start as soon as you arrive home. Have one set of rules for all the family and stick to them. Puppies, like young children, need routine and firmly established ground rules. Goldens are good with children, but make sure your children are taught to be caring and responsible with dogs. A puppy is a living, breathing real-life creature, not a toy and should be treated with respect. Your children and your puppy. Provide the puppy with its own bed and do not allow the children to disturb the puppy when it is sleeping. Always make sure there are no staples that the puppy could swallow. Do not allow young children to pick up the puppy. Do not allow very young children to play with the puppy unsupervised. Do not allow children to become over excited around the puppy. This means no screaming, no jumping and no fighting. Do not allow young children to feed the puppy or disturb the puppy while it is eating. The First Night. The first night is always a little fraught. It will be the first time your puppy has been separated from his mother and siblings, so expect him to cry a little and do not be unduly alarmed when he does so. Be calm and matter of fact, do not excite the puppy and make sure it has relieved itself before putting it to bed. Most breeders will have given you a small piece of blanket with the scent of his family on it, that you can put inside his bed and which will help to settle the puppy. Provide a warm comfortable blanket such as Vet Bed, which is hard-wearing and easily cleaned. Dogs are den animals and so prefer their bed to be tucked in a corner. House Training As a rule Goldens learn quite quickly and although at times it seems as though they will never be clean, most are by around four months. Puppies are not really capable of controlling bladder function much before this time, so anticipation and vigilance on your part is of prime importance. So as soon as you arrive home with your new pup carry him straight to the spot in the garden and stay with him until he has performed, then make a fuss of him, then he can go and explore his new home. The odd accident is an inevitable part of house training your puppy, so be prepared to experience it. Remember, prevention is better than cure! View accidents as a lack of vigilance on your part. Times to watch are after a meal and a sleep. Take the puppy outside to his spot in the garden. An eight-week-old puppy can spend a penny for England, so be warned! Remember that these dogs are retrievers, so it would be going against their nature if they were never allowed to pick things up. All puppies chew: It is a natural process that enables baby teeth to be expelled. If anything precious gets spoiled it is your own fault. Your puppy is an instinctive animal. There is no point in getting cross if your puppy chews things if he is unsupervised for long periods The Devil makes work for idle paws! If you do have to be away from home for more than a couple of hours, you will need to arrange for a puppy-sitter. Though Goldens are usually extremely biddable and kind to people, children and other animals, as youngsters they can be lively and boisterous and appear to be in trouble more than they are out of it Your puppy has no concept of the social graces unless you teach it, and people usually get the dogs they deserve. We strongly recommend obedience classes for you and your puppy to learn to become responsible members of society. Your breeder will be able to advise you of local classes. The very first lesson should be for the puppy to learn his own name and to come when called. Call him and make a fuss of him when he bounds over and give him a food reward. Hopefully by the time he has gained the confidence to go off exploring, the lesson will have been learnt and the thought of a treat will bring him back. If he is told off at this point he will associate the punishment with coming to you, not the fact that it was in his own time. NEVER hit a young puppy; violence solves nothing and your dog will associate pain to being with you and it will take weeks of patience to win him round again. Teach your puppy to accept you as his new pack-leader and that what you say goes. Use short one-word commands, but try to make learning fun. If you have a dominant, greedy puppy who guards his food, hand feeding him for several meals often works. If the puppy growls and guards a prized possession, remove the article and spend time giving the item back and then gently removing it again, until the puppy accepts your supremacy. Initially, a play in your garden is quite sufficient for your new puppy. After he has received his vaccinations, start with 10 to 15 minutes exercise off the lead in a safe area allowing him to set the pace. Exercise can be increased as the puppy grows, but very gradually. Remember your puppy is growing at an alarming rate and over-exercise and too boisterous play can cause damage to joints and cartilage later on. A good way to monitor exercise is a guide of 5 minutes for each month of the puppies life, ie: at 3 month 15 minutes lead exercise twice a day, which is then increased every month by 5 minutes. Take it slowly at first, and by the time your dog is 12 to18 months old he will be able to take all the exercise you care to give him, and more. The new Nobivac and Canigen vaccines out now, enable the vaccination programs to be completed earlier, so your puppy can be socialised earlier. Until last injection has taken effect, he should not leave the confines of your garden, unless he is carried. The breeder, using a proprietary brand of wormer should have wormed your puppy at least three times. Even so, it makes sense to be certain that children wash their hands after playing with the puppy and before eating. Worm again every couple of weeks until 3 months, then once or twice a year as a precaution. Ask your Vet for a recommended brand of wormer. Groom your puppy every day. This not only helps to keep him clean, but also establishes a bond between the two of you. Get your puppy used to having his ears looked at, his feet picked up and his teeth checked on a daily basis, so that any veterinary examination, should it be necessary at a later date, will not be too much of an ordeal. Initially, grooming will just consist of a thorough brushing, though later as the adult coat and feathering comes through, a daily check for knots and tangles will become necessary. And Finally. With just a little effort and training, your puppy will mature into a wonderful companion and a fully fledged member of the family that you can take anywhere and whom you will be proud to own. Should the unthinkable happen and your circumstances change so that you are unable to keep your puppy or older dog, please remember to inform the breeder in the first instance. If you live outside the UK, we would suggest you go to our links page and contact your nearest Golden Retriever Club. Club members: 1 Will properly house, feed, water and exercise all dogs under their care and arrange for appropriate veterinary attention if and when required. All volunteers.Lowcountry Lab Rescue is run completely by volunteers with full-time jobs doing something else, such as teacher, lawyer, "mom", sales rep, engineer, nurse or business owner. We rely on donations to fund our operations and save Labrador Retrievers. Dogs We Take.Lowcountry Lab Rescue rescues Labrador Retrievers from shelters throughout South Carolina that are in danger of being put to sleep for various reasons including something as simple as the dog is black in color. This includes everything from requiring medical care needed that is greater than a shelter can offer to just a lack of space at a shelter. We are the only Labrador breed specific rescue group in the entire state. They are wonderful pets with the right family. If you have a Labrador in your life or have ever had one, then you know what wonderful pets they are with love, attention and patience. What We Don't Do.Due to the tremendous number of requests that we receive about Labs in shelters that are going to be put to sleep if we do not take them, we do not take in Labs directly from owners. If you end up taking your Lab to a shelter for whatever reason, you can contact us beforehand to let us know. We have excellent relationships with most shelters in SC and may be able to pull your dog from the shelter. We need at least 2 weeks notice for such a request and foster space is limited. Labs should not be aggressive for any reason EVER. Labs are not guard dogs, should not act "protective", should not guard their food bowls or toys, should not guard their bed or your bed and should not charge other pets or people. They should not growl at children or adults EVER. Do not wait until your dog bites someone or another pet and your local law enforcement agency or animal control gets involved. We can recommend obedience trainers in the Charleston, Columbia and Greenville, South Carolina areas. All of the Labs that we consider rescuing from an animal shelter are temperament tested for aggression and guarding behavior. Dogs with known aggression issues are not accepted from shelters into foster care. Again, due to the high volume of requests we receive for dogs in danger of euthanasia in shelters, we do not provide long term foster care for owners' illnesses or military deployment. If you or a family member is deployed for military service, there are agencies designed to assist with pet care. Contact us and we can put you in touch with them. Our home is built on 55 acres with a 2. We are surrounded by open fields and woods; the perfect playground for a Labrador retriever. We have been involved with Labradors since when we purchased our first Labrador and our love for this incredible breed has grown significantly with every Labrador that has been part of our life. Our first, Jessie, a black Labrador was gentle and loving. Our second, Jamie, a high spirited yellow Labrador always seemed to get into some sort of trouble. Our third and first male dog, Jake was a gentle giant weighing in at lbs and was a creamy white color. Whether Jake was on the dove field, tracking a deer, fishing in the pond or just playing with his squeaky toys, he was the all around hunting companion and family member who will forever be remembered in our hearts. Having a well rounded and valued member of the family ready for the field as a hunting companion or living an active lifestyle in the home is our 1 goal at Dry Pond Retrievers. This is accomplished by breeding for intelligence, train-ability, physical soundness and having a natural marking ability, and good all around attitude that can do the work and then come back home to be a valued member of the family. Stay tuned for more to come as we are always training and bringing up new lineages for our program. We take a lot of pride in the bloodlines that we offer and spend lots of time with both our dogs and their pups to ensure quality companions. All pups are very socialized from birth and we try hard to have them already introduced to many other things like water, wings, dremels, doggie doors, stairs, multiple sights and sounds and riding in vehicles. Our goal is to produce the true "DUAL" purpose labrador with the drive and desire for retrieving or being an active family companion with the classic blocky labrador look. A lot of our bloodlines carry not only the hunting Field Champion and Master Hunter type of pedigrees, but they also carry the English Champion titles as well as Champion Master Hunter lineages. We also have several import lines that we have brought into our program. Our labradors have competed in a variety of things including obedience, rally, trick, conformation showing, scent work, dock and have became certified service animals and emotional support dogs. We occasionally will have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi litter to keep on the bloodlines that we have had for many years. Our corgis compete in trick dog, obedience, scent work as well as conformation show. More than twice as many Labs were registered than any other breed making it a likely leader for many years to come. The good people of South Carolina are in the 72nd percentile in Internet searches for Labrador retrievers, according to Google search statistics. Apparently, the Lab is a very popular dog in the state. In a recent article, a licensed professional counselor for more than twenty-five years, explained how owning a Lab can help produce healthier, happier, more well adjusted children. Here is an excerpt from her article: Dogs are better than popping pills or drinking elixers. Children with dogs for pets have been found to have lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, and fewer overall physical complaints than those without dogs. In fact, there are several diseases where dogs have been used to help those who have the disease. Two of these are: rheumatoid arthritis and emotional disturbance stemming from cases of severe abuse. Contact Us English Lab Puppies in Charleston, SC English Lab puppies have quite an appeal, especially considering the classic, handsome, features the breed can offer when you choose the right breeder. To help inform people interested in Labrador Retrievers first we wanted to provide some of the differences between the American and the English Lab. We will also share some of our favorite pictures of our English Labradors and English Labrador puppies with you. Taking a look at the split that has occurred in the Labrador Retriever breed and looking at how English labs differ from American labs will be the focus. Then the roles that English Labs play in our lives and our society will be covered. The Labrador breed was established in Newfoundland by pioneering English settlers. These settlers brought their hunting and fishing companions with them from England. So, in all reality, all Labradors can be tied back to England. All early Labradors were working dogs. The split between the English and American labs came later, when the Labrador grew in popularity as a pet during the last century. And as we have seen, the division in the breed was not made because of geography, but because of the specific role the dog is intended to play in the lives of its caretakers. There was only one type of English Lab breed, or one strain, up until the s. The breed standard was based on this type, and on the role the breed would play as a working retriever. Then, over the next few decades, two different types of breeders emerged, and with them, the two different types of Labrador Retriever. In this summary of the two Labrador types, the term English Lab will be used for show or bench Labradors, and American Lab will be used for working or field Labradors. Some comparison of these two strains of the same breed of dog will point out some key differences. First up will be some of the physical differences between the two Lab types. A Labrador is an instantly recognizable breed all over the world. But there are some distinguishing features of the English Lab that sets this version of the breed apart from his working bred relatives. Two very classic features are his handsome chiseled head and his thick otter tail that tapers to the end. English Lab Body Shape The broad body shape continues as you go from the head area of this beautiful dog towards his tail. The classic tail shape that the English Lab breed is known so well for is heavy and sweeps downwards behind him. In contrast, when the American Lab is viewed from the front it has a leaner appearance and is often a narrower dog in overall shape. The American Lab gives the impression of a dog built for speed and agility, as well as strength and power. All of the Greenbriar Plantation pups are bred to have this characteristic. This is the point where the skull rises upwards steeply from the base of the muzzle. English Lab Otter Tail A thick tail which tapers to a point like that found on an otter may be a hazard to breakable items left on a coffee table. However, this tail shape fully enhances the appearance of an English Labrador. In most cases, any American Labs you see today will have dispensed with the otter tail altogether. American Labs have a thinner appendage with a curve or upward sweep rather than their English Lab cousins whose tail swings low. This is not to say that English Labs are not used as hunting companions. Many of our dogs are chosen just for that purpose in mind and do very well with it. The stocky, chunky, and cuddly appearance is what people find so attractive about the breed. Are English Labs Shorter? The deep broad chest of the English Labrador might give the impression that the dog is a much shorter legged dog than the American Lab. This is actually pretty true. In some cases, these show line dogs are actually slightly shorter in the leg, in proportion to their spine, than the American Labrador dogs. The humble beggar, in his goat cart, was the vehicle that took the city to audiences all over the world. When Porgy and Bess had its Charleston premiere in , it gave the city the opportunity to finally integrate socially at cultural functions at a moment when the city and the state were celebrating its three hundredth anniversary. Such integration was made possible only after federal judge J. Waties Waring of Charleston declared that separate facilities were unequal, which made him a pariah in his native city. Rivers High School, the first public high school in the state to do so, integrated in .Delaying additional progress, a tense hospital strike by black workers had the city under martial law in .Marshes south of Trade Street had been filled in, and all of the suburbs west of the Ashley had been annexed. The local military base, the port, and tourism were driving the local economy. The international Spoleto Arts Festival began in and it served to merge tourism, culture, and business. In the 80s a battle erupted over the redevelopment of a block of downtown for a hotel convention site. The clash put business interests against preservationists, both of whom felt that their side represented the best interests of the city. There was much fear of financial loss in the s, after the naval base was closed, but the economy was able to survive. As the nature of the city changes, both its detractors and defenders have become more passionate. The area is not just a downtown, but also suburbs, rich and poor, black and white, and immigrant. The American Lab puppy has a narrower face and larger eyes and ears in proportion to her skull. The English Lab is just the opposite and has a broad shape to its body from head to toe, including its tail. An English Lab may be heavier than an American Lab of the same age, starting from early puppyhood and carrying through all the way up to maturity. You can find plenty of information and growth charts online but remember that your English Lab puppy may be at the higher end of the weight spectrum if it looks large for its age early on. As long as he is just big, and not fat, this is okay. English show labs have retained their wonderful coats to this day although they may never be expected to swim in sub-zero temperatures. Some of the working lines of Labradors have lost this thick coat. English Labs have a thick warm double coat. On the other hand, not all-American Labs have the double coat that you find on English Labs in the show ring. It may seem slightly odd that the working dog is the one to have lost the working coat. It makes more sense when where the breeding pool of American Labs comes from is considered. But first, temperament of the breed will be covered. English Lab Temperament There are differences in temperament between English and American Labs, but they may not always be as well-defined as we might prefer. Both strains of Labrador Retrievers are known to be friendly, kind-natured dogs overall. However, the English Lab may in some cases be less energetic and driven outdoors. They are known less for rushing here there and everywhere looking for something. Although this is true, many hunters prefer an English Lab because easier to control. If an American Lab does not have the mental and physical requirements they need fulfilled, they can be restless and destructive housemates. They can be pretty active as puppies, but the English Lab often matures into a very gentle and loving dog. It's too good to be true ; The sire of the upcoming litters is exceptional. He is gentle, healthy, handsome, playful and a wonderful companion. Poodles have a range of personality traits with varying levels of play drive, retrieve drive, prey drive, and, of course, couch-potato-ness. Most poodles love to play. Average, well-socialized poodles love to go everywhere with their family. The hallmarks of the standard poodle personality are well-rounded athleticism, intelligence, and a will-try-anything attitude that makes for a can-go-anywhere kind of dog. Standard poodles don't shed, are good with with children, and generally interact well with other pets. Just like people, each is unique and comes in a wide range of colors and patterns. Whether it's one of many solid colors, spotted or parti, a brindle, tuxedo, sable, or a phantom pattern, there's a standard poodle for everyone. Poodles need quality time with people and other animals, physical exercise and mental stimulation, quality food, medical care and grooming. Poodles are not outdoor dogs to be left tied up, away from people. Due to their high intelligence and athletic abilities they need something to do, someone to play with, and someone to guide them. If you have any questions about how best to care for your new family member, just ask. We're happy to help! As professional breeders we breed red, apricot, black, creme, white, brown, parti, phantom, sable, solid colored and brindle standard poodles. This is not written by us but it's how we do things. I thought of you years before you even realized. I planned for and cared about your baby long before you started thinking of adding to your family. I worried about your future with that puppy before you knew there would be one. There were hours upon hours spent researching lines for the parents of your puppies. Going over breeder after breeder, choosing not only my pet but looking for a dog that will make you your pet. Worrying if you'd be happy, if I had chosen correctly and your puppy would grow up healthy and happy. Going over puppy after puppy with fellow breeders, running over my program with as many knowledgeable breeders as I can, determined to not miss anything. Tracing lines back as far as I could, learning the ins and outs not only for my knowledge but so that I was informed, prepared to go over every detail with you, to answer the questions that sometimes you don't even ask. Then there's years of watching your puppies parents grow. Loving them and enjoying them as part of my family. Taking them every where I can, training them, socializing them, watching how they fill out. Asking myself I had made the right choice in both of them. Scrutinizing their conformation, how they move, and their temperament. There was the stress of health testing. Praying not only that my babies were healthy but that they had the genes to make your baby healthy. Finally came the time to put your puppies parents together. For the next 63 days I worried, I obsessed, I grew excited. I watched your puppies mom like a hawk. Making sure my baby was ok, monitoring her diet better than I do my own. Concerned that she was getting enough of the right nutrients and that your growing baby was getting the best start possible. I spent hours on the couch, floor, and dog bed with her watching her tummy grow and anxiously waiting. As your baby and mine grew I laid my hands on her tummy and felt the first movements of your puppy. As the time grew close I spent most nights in the nursery with her. Making sure she didn't go into labor without me knowing, in case something went wrong and one of our babies needed help. When labor started my whole life stopped. I spent every second with her. Your baby was born into my hands and I held my breath as I cleaned them up, watching for movement and breathing, cleaning them up, checking them over, and wondering if you'd love them as much as I already did. I helped your babies brother when mom got tired and he was stuck. I cried when your babies sister didn't make it. For the first 8 weeks most of my life was filled with your baby. Watching them grow and making sure I was doing everything possible to make sure they started their lives the right way. Making sure each one was getting enough to eat, enough socialization time, that they were de-wormed and given their shots. I was the first person they saw when they opened their eyes. I spent my weeks playing with them and keeping them safe. I searched for you and interviewed you. As you spoke I tried to read your character. Would you love them as much as I do? Would you bring them in as part of your family? Would you care for this tiny life that I brought into this world that I am responsible for? Some of you were turned away but some of you were welcomed into our family. The day you took your baby home was harder than I'd ever let on. I was excited for you but I was also terrified. Had I chosen correctly? Were you who you seemed to be? My love and worry didn't end there. I thought about your baby regularly, saddened when I didn't get updates, ecstatic when I did. I hoped you were caring for your baby the way I care for mine. I answered your questions happily and answered them again just as happily to your babies siblings new parents. When your puppies sister ate a couch I stayed up that night she was at the vets, waiting to hear that she was ok. When their brothers parents decided he no longer fit in their life I welcomed him home, sorry that I had chosen wrong for him and promised him it wouldn't happen again. I loved your baby first and I will never stop. Our puppies have been placed all over the United States. They adapt easily to any environment and travel well. We have puppies happily living in downtown Atlanta, Nashville, Miami and other large cities. Some of our puppies live in typical suburban homes, others in a rural setting or on the beach. You must fly with your puppy or drive to pick them up in person. We do not ship puppies. The poodle is also regarded as the national dog of France, where it was once commonly used as a retriever. Many poodles love water starting from a young age. Poodle puppies often play in their water bowls. Poodles also drink from the hose and frolic in the rain. On the opposite end of the spectrum is the poodle who doesn't want to get their feet wet, walks on the sidewalk, and refuses to go out in the rain. This poodle stands in the doorway, sniffs the rain in the air, and looks at you to say, "Do we really need to go out today? Sometimes, a poodle's size is described as teacup or royal standard. These terms are used to describe a very small toy or a large standard poodle, but are not official size categories of poodle. In Europe, there is a fourth size, known as a moyen in France meaning medium or a klein poodle in the rest of Europe. Moyen or klein poodles range between 15 and 20 inches at the shoulder. In the United States, a moyen or klein is considered a small standard poodle. At Heart Song Standard Poodles, we breed standard poodles. A standard poodle is a poodle that is 15 inches or over at the shoulder. Standard poodles can range from the smaller 15 inch to the larger 27 inches or more. The majority of standard poodles are between 45 and 60 pounds. Standard Poodles come in a variety of colors and patterns, including red, black, white, creme, apricot, silver, blue, brown, silver-beige, cafe-au-lait, parti, phantom, tuxedo, abstract, brindle, and sable. Some poodles are solid colored, while others are multi-colored. Multi-colored poodles include parti poodles, phantoms, brindles, and sables. AKC does allow both multi-colored and solid-colored poodles to participate in all other events including obedience, agility, rally, and more. Poodles are classified in the non-sporting group in the AKC. UKC allows both solid colored poodles and multi-colored poodles to be shown in conformation. They allow all poodles to compete in all events. Poodles in the UKC registry are classified in the gun dog group. Dogs that are advertised as merle poodles are not full blooded poodles. The poodle breed has no gene for the merle color. Dogs that are merle colored must have been mixed with another breed, even if it was many generations back. Be careful when anyone claims to have merle poodles. Unfortunately, unsuspecting buyers may purchase a merle puppy thinking it is a purebred poodle. They often pay a premium price because it is advertised as a rare color. Heart Song Poodles Blog Everything poodles, articles and tips on how to care for your poodle. Read our latest news.

Remember that candy unless specifically made for dogs is not good for dogs, so you might want to bring a few treats of your own if you plan on taking him with you or your kids for a round of trick or treating in the neighborhood. In , Tex Avery created a very early version of Elmer Fudd and introduced him in Little Red Walking Hood , as mysterious hero whistling everywhere he goes. In this cartoon, he had a derby hat, small squinty eyes, big reddish nose, a high collar around his neck, a green long sleeve shirt, green pants, and a bald circle-like human head. At the end of the cartoon, the character tells the villain, the big bad wolf, that he is "the hero in this picture" after he hits the wolf in the head with a mallet. He then continued to make more appearances in the Warner cartoons in , such as in The Isle of Pingo Pongo made and copyrighted in , released in also Prototype-Elmer's second appearance , Cinderella Meets Fella , A Feud There Was the first time he is fully called "Elmer Fudd" , Johnny Smith and Poker-Huntas , Hamateur Night made and copyrighted in , released in , A Day at the Zoo made and copyrighted in , released in and Believe It or Else , mostly as a "running gag" character. In A Feud There Was , Elmer made his entrance riding a motor scooter with the words "Elmer Fudd, Peacemaker" displayed on the side, the first onscreen use of that name. Elmer then appeared on early merchandise and of early Looney Tunes books in and , [12] [13] and even on the lobby cards for "The Isle of Pingo Pongo" and for "Cinderella Meets Fella" with his name attached on them. Bryan , was hired to provide the voice of the hero dog character. Sometime later on in this year, some new drawings and redesigns of Elmer Fudd were being created by a character designer, Charlie Thorson. In , the Egghead-like Elmer's appearance was refined, giving him a chin and a less bulbous nose although still wearing his old clothing that he was wearing in Tex Avery's earlier cartoons and Arthur Q. Bryan's " Dan McFoo " voice in what most people consider Elmer Fudd's first true appearance: a Chuck Jones short entitled Elmer's Candid Camera , actually Elmer's Ninth appearance, in which a rabbit drives Elmer insane; the rabbit was an early appearance of what would become Bugs Bunny , beginning their long-standing rivalry. Jones would use this Elmer one more time, in 's Elmer's Pet Rabbit ; its other title character is labeled as Bugs Bunny but is also identical to his prototype in Camera. In the interim, the two starred in A Wild Hare. Elmer has a better voice, a trimmer figure designed by Robert Givens , which would be reused soon later in Jones' Good Night Elmer , this time without a red nose and his familiar hunting clothes. He is much more recognizable as the Elmer Fudd of later cartoons than Bugs is here. In his earliest appearances, Elmer actually "wikes wabbits", either attempting to take photos of Bugs, or adopting Bugs as his pet. The rascally rabbit has the poor Fudd so perplexed that there is little wonder as to why Elmer would become a hunter and in some cases actually proclaim, "I hate wittle gway wabbits! Elmer in Rabbit Fire Elmer's role in these two films, that of would-be hunter, dupe and foil for Bugs, would remain his main role forever after, and although Bugs Bunny was called upon to outwit many more worthy opponents, Elmer somehow remained Bugs' classic nemesis, despite or because of his legendary gullibility, small size, short temper, and shorter attention span. In Rabbit Fire , he declares himself vegetarian, hunting for sport only. In a few cartoons, though, he assumed a completely different persona—a wealthy industrialist type, occupying a luxurious penthouse , or, in one episode involving a role reversal , a sanitarium —which Bugs would of course somehow find his way into. In another cartoon Mutt in a Rut he appeared to work in an office and had a dog he called "Wover Boy", whom he took hunting, though Bugs did not appear. Several episodes featured Elmer differently. One What's Up, Doc? Elmer Fudd is a well-known entertainer who, looking for a new partner for his act, sees Bugs Bunny after passing caricatures of many other famous s actors Al Jolson, Jack Benny, Eddie Cantor, Bing Crosby who, like Bugs, are also out of work. Elmer and Bugs do a one-joke act cross-country, with Bugs dressed like a pinhead, and when he does not know the answer to a joke, Elmer gives it and hits him with a pie in the face. Bugs begins to tire of this gag and pulls a surprise on Fudd, answering the joke correctly and bopping Elmer with a mallet , which prompts the man to point his rifle at Bugs. The bunny asks nervously: "Eh, what's up doc? Bugs tells Elmer they may be on to something, and Elmer, with the vaudevillian's instinct of sticking with a gag that catches on, nods that they should re-use it. According to this account, the common Elmer-as-hunter episodes are entirely staged. One episode where Bugs "lost" in the hunting was Hare Brush .Here, Elmer has been committed to an insane asylum because he believes he is a rabbit though it is also revealed that he is a millionaire and owns a mansion and a yacht. Bugs Bunny enters Fudd's room and Elmer bribes him with carrots , then leaves the way the real rabbit entered. Elmer's psychiatrist arrives, and thinking Fudd's delusion has affected his appearance, drugs Bugs and conditions him into believing that he is Elmer Fudd, after which Bugs starts wearing hunting clothes and acting like Elmer, hunting the rabbit-costumed Fudd, who is in turn acting like Bugs. Their hunt is cut short when Bugs is arrested by a government agent as Elmer Fudd is wanted for tax evasion. After Bugs is hauled away trying to explain that the rabbit is Elmer Fudd, Fudd breaks the fourth wall and tells the audience "I may be a scwewy wabbit, but I'm not going to Alcatwaz " as he hops away as if he had planned the whole thing. The Bugs—Elmer partnership was so familiar to audiences that in a late s cartoon, Bugs' Bonnets , a character study is made of what happens to the relationship between the two when they each accidentally don a different selection of hats Native American wig, pilgrim hat, military helmets, bridal veil and top hat, to name a few. The result is comic mayhem; a steady game of one-upmanship that ultimately leads to matrimony. He became a heavy-set, beer-bellied character, patterned after Arthur Q. Bryan's real-life appearance, and still chasing Bugs or vice versa. However, audiences did not accept a fat Fudd, so the slimmer version returned for good. This period also saw a temporary change in Elmer's relationship with Bugs Bunny. Instead of being the hunter, Elmer was the victim of unprovoked pestering by Bugs. In Wabbit Twouble , Bugs plays several gags on Elmer, advising the audience, "I do dis kind o' stuff to him all t'wough da picture! Elmer sings a variation of the old prospector's tune " Oh! Susanna " made just for this cartoon complete with the phrase "V for Victory" , with Bugs joining in just before starting to hassle Elmer. Elmer-speak He nearly always vocalised consonants [r] and [l], pronouncing them as [w] instead a trait that also characterized Tweety Bird when he would talk in his slightly raspy voice. This trait was prevalent in the Elmer's Candid Camera and Elmer's Pet Rabbit cartoons, where the writers would give him exaggerated lines such as, "My, that weawwy was a dewicious weg of wamb. The writers often gave him lines filled with those letters, such as doing Shakespeare 's Romeo as "What wight thwough yonduh window bweaks! You tweachewous miscweant! Part of the joke is that Elmer is presumably incapable of pronouncing his own first name correctly. Occasionally, Elmer would properly pronounce an "r" or "l" sound, depending on whether or not it was vital for the audience to understand what the word was. For example, in 's The Old Grey Hare , he clearly pronounces the "r" in the word "picture". Usually, Elmer mispronounces the "r" and "l" by substituting the sound of "w". Later appearances Arthur Q. Bryan died in , but the character was not completely retired at that time. Elmer made appearances in several television specials in the s and s, and some cameo roles in two of the Looney Tunes feature-film compilations. Elmer made a brief headshot cameo appearance in the final scene of Who Framed Roger Rabbit with other famous characters. Elmer would also appear frequently on the animated series Tiny Toon Adventures as a teacher at Acme Looniversity, where he was the idol and favorite teacher of Elmyra Duff , the slightly deranged animal lover who resembles Elmer in basic head design, name and lack of intellect. On the other hand, a younger version of him makes a single appearance in the episode Plucky's Dastardly Deed, and is named "Egghead Jr", the "smartest kid in class". Elmer also had a guest starring appearance on Histeria! Elmer made another appearance on Histeria! Elmer appears as part of the TuneSquad team in Space Jam. In one part of the game he and Yosemite Sam shoot out the teeth of one of the Monstars dressed in black suits while Misirlou is heard in the background, a reference TNG be early films of Quentin Tarantino. Elmer took on a more villainous role in Looney Tunes: Back in Action. He first appears as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck's co-star in a new movie, where he shoots Daffy repeatedly, and is later seen shooting Bugs per the film's script after Daffy's firing. He later appears in the Louvre museum, where he reveals himself to be a secret agent for the Acme Corporation. Elmer chases Bugs and Daffy through the paintings in the Louvre museum, taking on the different art styles as they do so. At the end, Elmer forgets to change back to his normal style after jumping out of the pointillist painting Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat , allowing Bugs to easily disintegrate Elmer by blowing a fan at him. A four-year-old version of Elmer was featured in the Baby Looney Tunes episode "A Bully for Bugs", where he kept taking all of Bugs' candy, and also bullied the rest of his friends. He was also shown with short blond hair. He appeared in most of the songs. An even more villainous Elmer appeared in two episodes of Duck Dodgers as The Mother Fudd, an alien who would spread a disease that caused all affected by it to stand around laughing like Elmer and resemble a grey-skinned version of him a parody of the Flood in Halo and the Borg in Star Trek. In Loonatics Unleashed , his descendant, Electro J. Fudd, tried to prove himself the universe's greatest hunter by capturing Ace Bunny , but settled for Danger Duck instead. Elmer himself also makes an appearance in the form of a photo which shows he presumably died at the hands of a giant squirrel. He was again voiced by Billy West. Portrayed as a wealthy businessman coming home after a hard day's work in the "Merrie Melodies" part of the episode "Best Friends," he sings about his love of " gwiwwed cheese " sandwiches. He later had a brief cameo appearance in "Fish and Visitors" as a weather forecaster briefly exclaiming about the rainy weather and doing his famous chuckle at the end. Later on, Elmer Fudd reports that EnormoCorp went out of business due to the worst business decision in the history of business decisions caused by its CEO Daffy Duck who succeeded the previous CEO Foghorn Leghorn who retired where he went with the "Proceed as Planned" choice instead of the "Delay the Merger" choice when he mistook Pete Puma as the new muffin man. As a result of this, Elmer mentioned that 10, of its workers are now out of a job and states that experts fear that the world economy could collapse. Elmer Fudd later joins the other characters in the Christmas song called "Christmas Rules" at the end of the episode. Elmer Fudd later reports on Daffy Duck's apparent death where he supposedly lost control of his parade float and drove into the St. Bastian River. He appears as a spy working for the Mexican general Foghorn Leghorn. In the story, Elmer is a bounty hunter that originated from the country side before he moved to Gotham to make ends meet. He considered putting the shotgun away for good when he fell in love with Silver St. Cloud , but she was killed by hitman Bugs "The Bunny". He goes to a bar called Porky's which has attendants that are humanoid versions of other famous Looney Tunes stars to kill Bugs. Bugs confesses to killing Silver, but avoids death by telling Elmer that Bruce Wayne hired him to do it. Elmer believes Bugs as Bruce was Silver's former lover, and shoots Bruce at a party for vengeance. Batman confronts Elmer in his apartment and defeats the gunman in a fight, where Elmer tells Batman about Silver's death and Bugs. Elmer and Batman return to Porky's and take out most of the crowd before confronting Bugs. The three are shocked to find Silver in the bar herself, where she revealed that she left Bruce and Elmer because of their dangerous lifestyles and had Bugs fake her death. The story ends with all three of the men requesting a glass of carrot juice from Porky. After getting shot by Elmer too many times, Batman takes Bugs' advice and makes it Robin season, causing Elmer to pursue the Dark Knight's sidekicks instead. The series executive producer and showrunner , Peter Browngardt, said the character could continue to use cartoon violence , such as dynamite and Acme related paraphernalia. Later, during the musician's union strike of , Dave Barry did the voice for Elmer's co-starring appearance in Pre-Hysterical Hare , as Bryan was ill during production of the cartoon. Although in more recent years other voice actors have alternated as Elmer's voice, Bryan's characterization remains the definitive one. He was never credited onscreen, because Blanc had a clause in his contract that required him to receive a screen credit and, perhaps inadvertently, denied the same to other voice performers. Blanc would take on the role regularly in the s, s and s, supplying Elmer's voice for new footage in The Bugs Bunny Show while Smith voiced the character in the commercials until when Blanc took up the role full time , The Porky Pig Show , compilation feature films and similar TV specials, as well as some all-new specials. He admitted in his autobiography that he found the voice difficult to get "right", never quite making it his own, which is why his Elmer voice sounded deep and gravelly in the 60s and 70s; however, it began sounding closer to Bryan's Elmer voice, beginning with Bugs Bunny's Valentine .In Speechless , the famous lithograph issued following Blanc's death, Elmer is not shown among the characters bowing their heads in tribute to Blanc. Other voice actors Beside Bryan, numerous other actors have voiced Elmer, including:. Characters[ edit ] Freakazoid voiced by Paul Rugg — The protagonist of the series. He is the alter ego of geeky year-old computer ace Dexter Douglas voiced by David Kaufman , who became Freakazoid from an overloaded Pinnacle chip inside his computer. He attends Harry Connick Jr. High School. To transform into Freakazoid, Dexter says "Freak out! Dexter and Freakazoid sometimes identify as separate identities, and other times are considered the same person. She is unaware that her son is Freakazoid and is generally blithe and clueless. Douglas Douglas voiced by John P. McCann — Dexter's father who is incredibly incompetent, but attempts to keep his family in line regardless. Duncan Douglas voiced by Googy Gress — Dexter's older brother. He is a bully towards Dexter and a stereotypical jock who is also frequently tormented by Freakazoid. Chubbikins vocal effects provided by Frank Welker — The Douglas' morbidly obese cat. He jumped on Dexter's keyboard while chasing a butterfly, accidentally typing in the key sequence which activated the Pinnacle chip's flaw, turning Dexter into Freakazoid. Allies[ edit ] Sgt. Mike Cosgrove voiced by Ed Asner — A heavyset, gruff police sergeant with a heart of gold who is friends with Freakazoid and several other characters. By pointing at something and saying "Cut it out", he has the almost supernatural ability to get people to stop whatever they are doing on command, no matter what they may be doing at the time. Cosgrove also possesses the odd power of finding Freakazoid no matter where he is, and often interrupts his heroic endeavors to ask him to visit various entertainments, which Freakazoid always enthusiastically agrees to no matter what he is doing at the time. During this visit, Cosgrove inevitably reveals important information about the plot of the episode, resulting in Freakazoid leaving to foil the villain's scheme and Cosgrove being left to enjoy the attraction for himself. Additionally, at some point, Freakazoid entrusted Cosgrove with his secret identity, and was deeply upset when he accidentally revealed it to Steff and Professor Jones. Roddy MacStew voiced by Craig Ferguson — Freakazoid's mentor, and expositionist; an ill-tempered Scotsman who once worked for Guitierrez and was the first to discover the Pinnacle Chip's flaw. In "The Chip" detailing Freakazoid's origin story , he was trapped in the Internet after going into it to escape from Guitierrez's minions, but Guitierrez later forced him out and he resumed his mentor role. Steff voiced by Tracy Rowe — Freakazoid's perky and sweet yet cynical and sarcastic blonde girlfriend; her real name is Stephanie. She discovers Freakazoid's secret identity when Cosgrove accidentally points it out aloud in "Mission: Freakazoid". Professor Heiney voiced by Ed Gilbert — A scientist with a lab in the mountains who Freakazoid sometimes goes to for help. He researches and kills monsters, and is often attacked by them. Ingmar — Freakazoid's mute butler , who built and maintains the Freakalair. He quit in "Mission: Freakazoid" to become a rodeo clown and was replaced by Professor Jones. Zachary Smith from Lost in Space who was also portrayed by Harris. He is the replacement to Ingmar and is old friends with him. Jones does not get along with Cosgrove well and gets little respect from Freakazoid or anyone else. A running gag is that someone would ask if he was on that show with a kid and a robot which is a nod to Jonathan Harris' work on Lost in Space. Joe Leahy voiced by himself — The show's vocal narrator and announcer who sometimes gets more involved than the job usually requires. Freakazette — Only mentioned in the first episode for a brief verse during the "Freakazoid and Friends" theme song set to the tune of the Animaniacs theme. Foamy the Freakadog vocal effects provided by Frank Welker — A vicious, rabid dog which Freakazoid freed from the dogcatcher's van. Handman voiced by Paul Rugg — Freakazoid's brief "right hand man", who is just a painted face on his right hand and has great difficulty pronouncing Freakazoid's name correctly. He fell in love with and married Handgirl, a painted face on Freakazoid's left hand. He was hospitalized due to Milk Man bruising his clavicle and was subsequently released from Freakazoid's service. Leonard Maltin voiced by himself — He was kidnapped by Dr. Mystico during the episode "Island of Dr. Mystico", while Maltin was giving his opinion of the same episode. Freakazoid points out that Mystico's prisoners all have superpowers, and Maltin's is his knowledge of film. Mystico's "orangu-men". In the show, he speaks in a low, groggy, incomprehensible mumble. Norm Abram voiced by himself — A master carpenter who was kidnapped by the Lobe to make a wooden instrument to destroy Freakazoid, but got free and helped turn the tables against the Lobe and his allies. Enemies[ edit ] Freakazoid! Freakazoid own rogues gallery. They consist of: The Lobe voiced by David Warner — Freakazoid's archenemy, an evil genius whose entire head is a giant brain. Despite his high intellect, he has very low self-esteem, once even having a scheme foiled by Freakazoid simply insulting the plan, despite actually being impressed by it once the Lobe has left. No background information of any kind is given for the Lobe and his real name is never revealed. Cobra Queen voiced by Tress MacNeille — Audrey Manatee is a former shoplifter whose theft of an experimental expired cosmetic transformed her into a cobra woman with command over snakes and other reptiles. In later episodes, Cobra Queen and Cave Guy are dating. She has a lair in the sewers and often complained about the lack of light there until Freakazoid suggested getting Japanese lanterns. Cobra Queen seems to be offended when compared to Sylvester the Cat. He subscribes to The New Yorker and also seems to have an odd fear of Klingons , primarily because of their language. Because he was searched for by law enforcement so frequently, he had plastic surgery to turn himself into a humanoid Texas Longhorn. Freakazoid even pointed out that this did not prevent Longhorn from appearing on America's Most Wanted every week. He loves country music and despite being a lousy songwriter, he is determined to get a recording contract in Nashville. Longhorn also owns a massive truck nicknamed "Bessie Mae" which is outfitted with all kinds of devices and can fly. Turk voiced by Matt Landers — Longhorn's henchman. Originally a normal human, he briefly gained powers similar to Freakazoid's by exploiting the Pinnacle chip's flaw. However, he was defeated in the Internet and fell into a pit, which made the right half of his face cybernetic which he now covers this by wearing a hooded robe. Guitierrez hates being called a weenie to which he will angrily respond "I am not a weenie! It is YOU who are the weenie! Jocko voiced by Paul Rugg — Guitierrez's henchman who is completely inarticulate. Candle Jack voiced by Jeff Bennett — A supernatural villain with a burlap sack over his head who abducts anyone who says his name and ties them up with rope, apparently because "he's a nut". Though he prides himself on being scary, he has a weakness for pie and also seems to enjoy watching F Troop. Waylon Jeepers voiced by Jeff Bennett — A creepy little man from Venice Beach who created the Medusa Watch which can turn people and pigeons into stone. He has also created a similar device that turned beavers into gold. He is obsessed with all things supernatural and is well acquainted with several monsters including Dracula , the Wolf Man , and the Loch Ness Monster. Additionally, Jeepers' schemes seem to deeply infuriate Freakazoid and Jeepers is shown to be the only villain that Freakazoid genuinely does not like whereas the rest of the villains appear to have a friendly relationship with Freakazoid off-battle once going on a long and unscripted rant against him after he tried to show him the Medusa Watch. His name is a play on famous country guitarist Waylon Jennings. Invisibo voiced by Corey Burton impersonating Vincent Price — Ahmon Kor-Unch is an invisible, smart-mouthed pharaoh who is only invisible via the staff he carries. He was sealed away inside a sarcophagus in the ancient past, but freed in the modern day after Dexter and Duncan accidentally broke the seal on the sarcophagus while fighting. Invisibo planned to absorb power from the local power plant to become unstoppable, but was defeated by Freakazoid who destroyed his staff, allowing him to be visible again. He was locked back into his sarcophagus which was taken away by authorities. Invisibo resurfaced in "Normadeus" where is among the villains invited by the Lobe to witness Freakazoid's destruction where he regained his invisibility. Booger Beast voiced by Frank Welker — A slimy monster who attacks Steff in the cold opening of episode 9. The Nerdator voiced by Aron Kincaid — A man who planned to kidnap all of the nerds in the world and absorb their knowledge to become a "Super-Nerd". However, Freakazoid convinced him of the downsides of being a nerd, after which he discontinued his plot and instead began kidnapping "good-looking, but vapid airheads". His character design is a parody of the Predator. Robinson — A spoiled model turned extortionist who, after years of posing, was left with his arms frozen in a jaunty pose with his hands on his hips. He sells "oops insurance", a form of protection racketeering which mainly consists of him breaking valuable things before comically following it up with a small "Oops". He injured Expendable Lad's clavicle, resulting in him retiring. Deadpan voiced by Bebe Neuwirth — A plain-looking, shapeshifting supervillainess with a monotonous voice, appearing in the cold open of "The Wrath of Guitierrez". She tried to conquer Washington by transforming into Freakazoid, but this plan was quickly foiled when the real Freakazoid appeared and nonchalantly exposed her. Deadpan also makes a cameo in "The Lobe", among the crowd watching the Lobe attempt to lobotomize Freakazoid. Mary Beth voiced by Tress MacNeille — Cosgrove's former girlfriend, a cosmetics executive and monster. She is short-tempered and when angered turns green, develops a deep raspy voice, and shoots fire from her nose. Allegedly existing since the beginning of time, she absorbs the life force of superheroes to remain immortal and planned to do so to Freakazoid, but was foiled, died, and shriveled into a pile of dust. Her name is a play on cosmetics giant Mary Kay. He is responsible for capturing Freakazoid's family and the mime from Animaniacs and imprisoning them in Chesky Beresch Prison, the toughest prison in Europe. He and his subordinate Colonel Anton Mohans were defeated after Freakazoid and his friends rescued the Douglas family and mime, and last seen being tortured by the mime and his pals. Mystico voiced by Tim Curry — A mad scientist who lives on a remote island and experiments with the native orangutans. He was kicked out of university for his mad science, and thus set up a laboratory on an island to continue his experiments. Mystico by splicing human and orangutan DNA. Three of them, Fatima, Ackbar, and Ringo, serve as his henchmen. He makes a cameo in "The Lobe", among the crowd watching the Lobe attempt to lobotomize Freakazoid. Bombshell — A villain who was part of Bruce Timm's original development of this show. She makes a cameo in "The Lobe", among the crowd watching the Lobe attempt to lobotomize Freakazoid.
