We focus on genetic health and environmental support in our breeding program. We are very conscious about improving the Labrador breed and because of that, all of our breeding dogs must pass their health testing before being bred. We test them for several genetic diseases known to affect Labrador Retriever. We also take our Labs for hips and elbows x-rays to make sure they are not dysplastic. We do this to ensure we are doing everything we can to produce the healthiest puppies we can. Our Labs have certified scores. Our litters can contain chocolate, silver, black, charcoal, yellow, and champagne puppies. The yellow and champagne puppies may range in shade from cream to light red. We can not guarantee shade. Perhaps the owner purchased the dog on impulse, not understanding the needs of a boxer. Sometimes, financial situations change, and families are not able to care for the dog anymore. We also take dogs that have been brought to shelters around New England. If a shelter reaches out for help, we do our best to find placement for the boxer in need. Lastly, we have a wonderful relationship with boxer rescue in Puerto Rico, and we work closely with them to bring boxers in need, from the island, to New England. All of our boxers are temperament tested and evaluated before coming into rescue. It should be noted that ALL dogs require a decompression period when going to a new home. Can I adopt a female dog if I already have a female dog? The short answer is no. Our experience in placing dogs, has shown us that placing two females together is oftentimes not the best long term situation. We receive many calls from owners needing to surrender their female boxers because there is fighting with another female dog in the house. Either way, the fighting is often brutal and bloody. We have adopted a policy to never place two female dogs in the same house. Are your boxers healthy? They are brought up to date on vaccines, tested for heartworm, and spayed or neutered unless too young or not medically able to be. Their vet records are provided upon adoption. Do I need to have a fenced in yard to adopt a boxer? We do not require a fenced in yard for all of our boxers. We look at each dog, individually, and based on the needs of that dog, we may require fencing. Please note that we do not consider an electric fence to be a proper method of containment and are not able place a dog in a home that uses electric fencing. Do you have a shelter where I can come meet the boxers? We are not a shelter and do not have a physical location where you can meet our adoptees. We are a small kennel first established 16 years ago whilst living in the beautiful setting of Lower Deeside in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Our dogs are first and foremost family pets with the fun we have showing them being a bonus. In early , with our 4 sons grown up and almost all having left home, we felt that the moment was right and time allowed for us to add a dog to the family. We agreed to take Mac and thus began the "hobby" that would take over our lives. From an early stage we took Mac to obedience classes run by Golden owner and breeder Rosemary Pirie Roddenberry and it was during this time that we looked to expand the interest and fun we could have with him by investigating the show scene. It was pointed out that perhaps we should look to more established show lines, if we were to devote time to this. The decision was made to look for another dog, one that we could show and a companion for Mac. Arran - Drumkilty Oisin joined us in October .Having the two dogs and spending almost every weekend showing Arran only served to intensify the interest and by the summer of we were looking to expand the show team this time bringing in a puppy bitch that we hoped would be the foundation of our own kennel. We were introduced the Sue Francis Velvenya who had one of her bitches Ramchaine Enchanting in whelp and we were delighted to have Ailsa - Velvenya Vivid join us in Milltimber. We start puppies on whistle recall at 4 weeks old, which they tend to do really well at, and also start toilet training the puppies to grass outside. Naturally the puppies still live indoors, but they are given regular access to our garden weather permitting - at no point do we move them to live outside. PUPPY VISITS After prospective owners have completed a questionnaire, we begin to match available puppies with prospective homes; we find that matching puppies to owners increases the likelihood of a successful placement and therefore a forever home. However this means that if you are invited to a puppy visit you will not have the choice of the whole litter, instead you will be matched to a specific puppy that has been identified as suitable from your questionnaire answers. From our side, if when meeting you we feel you are not suitable owners for one of our puppies, then a puppy will not be sold to you. Amongst other things, we look at the puppies' energy level, confidence, drive, attitude, biddability and overall temperament to make an informed decision; this is why filling in our puppy questionnaire accurately is so important. After a puppy visit there is a 48 hour cooling off period for both parties to consider if the puppy is a suitable match. If we both decide the answer is yes, then a non-refundable deposit is required which is payable by bank transfer. This deposit will only be refunded in the case of something going wrong on our end, e. The remaining balance for the puppy must then be paid by bank transfer at least 48 hours before collection. The receipt of sale is included within the puppy contract which both parties will sign, along with both parties signing the Kennel Club's endorsement paperwork. If either party decides not to go ahead, a deposit will not be requested. He developed a breeding program that started with an unusual yellow-coated sporting dog and added in other various retriever-type dogs as well as the Irish Setter, the Bloodhound, and the now-extinct Tweed Water Spaniel. A typical recommendation is for a Goberian to get at least an hour of exercise every day, if not more. Instead, a couple of half-hour sessions will be good as well! Just a Goberian doing some exercise. Remember that grooming does not necessarily mean shaving, even though it may seem tempting, thanks to all their shedding! However, shaving a double coated dog can actually make shedding worse. In fact, a Goberian should never be shaved except in cases of medical necessity. Both the Siberian Husky and the Golden are double-coated, meaning that their coat has two layers. One that is a bit more coarse and thick on the outside, and the inner layer, which is more soft and downy. Having a double coat actually provides protection from sun damage as well as protection from extreme cold and heat.
