In order to continue to improve our bloodlines, there will be times we select outside stud dogs that we have determined meet our high expectations for temperament, health, and trainability. Because we are committed to producing healthy dogs we certify our breeding dogs through the OFA Orthopedic Foundation of Animals for hips and elbows, eyes, and Embark genetic screening. We also microchip all puppies before they are placed in their new homes. Despite our comprehensive screening, we know there is no way to completely avoid every potential health concern, but we provide a health guarantee for our dogs in the areas listed below. In order to ensure our puppies are able to be as structurally sound as possible, our health guarantee requires that you not spay or neuter your puppy until they are at least 16 months old. We strongly suggest waiting for months for full structural development. If there a need to neuter before the 16 month mark, please contact Turn Key Ridge Labradors. Because there are many factors that are not within our control, we are not able to extend our health guarantee to environmental factors such as parasites, parvovirus, ingestion hazards and obstructions such as from eating toys , injuries from jumping, over-exercising, etc. Puppies cannot be fully vaccinated until 16 weeks of age and until they are fully vaccinated, the owner will need to make responsible decisions to limit exposure to potentially harmful viruses. Parasites Parasites are everywhere and your puppy can pick them up simply from being outside. This is why it will be important to get your puppy on a routine parasite prevention program. Your puppy has been through a progressive deworming protocol which included: Pyrantel Pamoate at 2 weeks old de-wormer Pyrantel Pamoate at 3 weeks old de-wormer Toltrazuril at 4 weeks old coccidia preventative Pyrantel Pamoate at 4 weeks old de-wormer Pyrantel Pamoate at 5 weeks old de-wormer Fenbendazole at 6 weeks old giardia preventative Toltrazuril at 7 weeks old coccidia preventative Toltrazuril at 8 weeks old coccidia preventative Pyrantel Pamoate at 5 weeks old de-wormer Even with the deworming protocol listed above, puppies easily pick up parasites from outside and you will need to continue a strict parasite preventative program at home. You will want to discuss this routine internal parasite preventative with your vet. There are several options available - most of which are a chewable "treat" you give to your dog. These de-wormers are based on weight, so your vet will likely sell you individual packages each month as your puppy grows. Once they reach their adult weight, you would be able to buy 6 month or 12 month packages. Again, there are several options which range from topicals that you put on your dog to chewable that you give your dog. These, too, will be based on the weight of your puppy and so you will likely start with buying these monthly as your puppy grows. Your vet will be able to provide the greatest advice based on your location and lifestyle. Vaccinations Below is the standard vaccination schedule for up to 8 weeks of age. If you get a dog or puppy that is older than 8 weeks, we continue the vaccination schedule, and you will receive those documents at the time of purchasing the dog. If a puppy is older than 8 weeks of age at pick up, they may have additional rounds of DHPP and additional vaccination against Leptospirosis and Rabies, depending on their age at the time of pick up. You will be given a health record with your puppy showing what vaccinations they have received.
