The typical weight of Boxers is around 55 to 70 pounds 25 to 32 kg. Males can grow up to 23 to 25 inches 58 to 64 cm , while females are between 21 to 23 inches 53 to 58 cm in height. Boxer As a purebred, the Boxer is recognized by the American Kennel Club AKC and is prized as an affectionate companion, a great guard dog, and an excellent family pet. Due to their short and silky coat, they are temperature-sensitive. But, with, proper care, they have a life expectancy of 11 to 14 years. A Labrador Retriever or Lab is a medium-sized, high-energy purebred that can grow to weigh 80 pounds 36 kg. How big will a Lab Boxer mix get? They can grow up to 23 to 25 inches 58 to 63 cm and can weigh up to pounds 45 kg when fully grown. If you want a smaller pet of the same breed, choose a female that only weighs around 50 to 65 pounds 22 to 30 kg. Most Boxer Labs have a mix of any of the two colors such as black and white or black and tan. This intelligent, friendly, and loyal companion is also quite the social butterfly. They are great service dogs, too! Just keep in mind, they easily get separation anxiety if you leave them alone for too long. They need training and socialization at a young age. If not, they can grow to be stubborn. You can start training your puppy as soon as you take it home at 8 weeks old. Boxadors are easy to train because of their Labrador and Boxer parentage. Remember to always use positive reinforcement to make good behavior stick! Boxadors are no couch potatoes. A Boxer Lab mix needs regular physical activity since one of its parents the Labrador has a gene mutation that leads to obesity. Some owners walk their Boxadors thrice a day, but a 30 to minute walk twice a day is good enough. Keep them happy by providing them plenty of space to run around and play with you or on their own. This crossbreed can get depressed if you leave it alone for long periods and it will make sure everyone knows about its frustration by whining or howling. They want to make you happy. Boxadors are a playful bunch and would do anything to please their humans. TLC goes a long way! Think you can manage its high energy level and training needs? This hybrid has a fairly manageable coat, but this Boxer Lab mix is not hypoallergenic, as it sheds a moderate amount of fur. The fur usually comes off during spring and autumn, so, during these seasons, you have to brush their coat every day. Even after the shedding season, maintain that glossy hair by brushing it once a week. Brushing their pearly whites once or twice a week. Cleaning their ears two times a month. Checking the fur under their eyes at least twice a week. Trimming those pretty nails twice a month or when needed. The proper diet Just like Labradors, the Boxador loves to eat! Control their feeding by giving them two meals, one in the morning and one in the evening. Boxadors can be fed with around 4 to 5 cups of dry kibble per day. You can also include some tasty snacks and treats. You can reduce the risk of bloat by using slow-feeder bowls and avoiding giving your pup large meals. Lab Boxer Mix health issues Even if health issues can be passed on to Boxadors by their parent breeds, keep in mind that the chances of your hybrid getting these illnesses are quite low. The Lab Boxer mix has a lifespan of 12 to 15 years, after all. These are some of the health issues the Boxer Lab mix may be prone to: Hypothyroidism. If your dog has this problem, its heart must work harder to pump blood. This is a hereditary problem common in the Boxer parent. Boxers with this health issue should not be bred from. Cardiomyopathy Dilated cardiomyopathy is another heart condition that is common in large breed dogs, like the Boxer and Labrador. In this health issue, heart muscle degeneration leads to a larger-than-normal heart. This can lead to overall heart failure. Some studies have recently been investigating a link between this issue and diet, but more research is needed to determine whether there is a causal link. Health testing is available for this problem. Hip and Elbow Dysplasia This is another health problem known to affect many large breeds. Hip or elbow dysplasia can be extremely painful for affected dogs. Make sure your breeder only breeds from dogs with good hip scores. Bloat Canine bloat is also known as gastric dilatation volvulus. Bloat can be fatal, so you must act quickly if your dog shows any symptoms associated. Brachycephaly Brachycephalic dogs are those with flat faces. The Boxer parent is affected by this conformation issue. Boxador puppies may inherit this shorter snout. This can lead to breathing and temperature regulation problems, as well as poor dental health and eye issues. When picking your puppy, make sure that they have a full muzzle and that the Boxer parent has a prominent nose. Symptoms can include hair loss, flaky skin, weight gain, sluggishness, seizures, and more. Dogs with this issue may have to take medication regularly for the rest of their life. Cancer Of course cancer is a broad term. Different types of cancer can affect the Boxador parent breeds. So, make sure your breeder is not breeding from dogs with a history of cancer. Degenerative Myelopathy This is a progressive spinal cord disorder. Dogs with degenerative myelopathy will experience slow paralysis of their back legs and rear. In some dogs, eventually their front legs will also be affected. Exercise Induced Collapse This problem is exactly as it sounds. Affected dogs will collapse after short bursts of extreme exercise. Symptoms can include wobbliness or poor coordination. In worst cases, this problem can be fatal. General Health of Cross Breeds Not only do purebred dogs like Labs and Boxers have some serious potential health issues to contend with, some of these issues are the same. Mixed breed dogs will still be vulnerable to these issues if their parents have them. So, choose reputable breeders that health test parent dogs before breeding for the best chance at a healthy puppy. General Care Boxadors should be fed with a high quality dog food designed for large breeds. They need regular exercise and plenty of social interaction and play to stay happy and healthy. Check their nails and ears when grooming them. Dental health is a particular issue for Boxador dogs, especially those with shorter muzzles. So, keep a keen eye on their teeth. What is the Boxador Life Expectancy? It is widely reported that Boxadors live 12 to 15 years. But, at the moment there are no studies that confirm this figure. If only one breed does and not the other, the puppies end up with a varying degree of effect on the allergies of people. The Poo-Ton are long-lived pups compared to other small breeds. Poo-Ton dogs not only inherit the desired hypoallergenic traits from their parents, but they also inherit a long life. Labradors, Labradoodles, Australian Labradoodles, Golden Retrievers, and Goldendoodles are among the breeds and crossbreeds which may be affected by the disease. It causes cells in the retina at the back of the eyes to degenerate and die, even though the cells seem to develop usually early in life. Most affected dogs will eventually go blind. Typically, the symptom appears first in early adolescence or early adulthood. Conditions that might look like prcd-PRA could be another disease and might not be inherited. Annual eye exams by a veterinary ophthalmologist will build a history of eye health that will help to diagnose disease. Prcd-PRA is inherited as a recessive trait. It means that the faulty gene must be inherited from each parent to cause disease in offspring. In other words, each parent was either a carrier or sufferer. It has been proven that all breeds tested for pcrd-PRA have the same mutated gene, even though the disease may develop at different ages or severities from one breed to another. It is a hereditary condition that occurs mainly in large, fast-growing dogs such as Standard Labradoodles. Several factors contribute to the development of the disease, and some breeds are genetically predisposed to the disease, including Labradors, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, and Giant Schnauzers. Smaller breeds may also suffer, but the effects are not as obvious. Hip dysplasia is caused when the head of the femur thigh bone fits loosely into a shallow and poorly developed socket in the pelvis. Most dogs with dysplasia are born with healthy hips, but due to their genetic make-up and possibly other factors such as diet, the soft tissues that surround the joint develop abnormally. The joint carrying the weight of the dog becomes loose and unstable, and muscle growth lags behind healthy development. Early diagnosis gives your vet the best chance to tackle the problem and minimize the possibility of arthritis developing. Symptoms range from mild discomfort to extreme pain. A puppy with canine hip dysplasia usually starts to show signs between five to thirteen months old. Your vet will take x-rays to make a diagnosis. Treatment is more towards preventing the hip joint from getting worse and decreasing pain. Management of the condition usually consists of restricting exercise, keeping body weight down, and then managing pain with analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs. In many cases, surgery may be an option, especially with older dogs. Canine Bloat Canine bloat is a severe medical condition that requires urgent medical attention. Without it, the dog can die. The reasons for it are not fully understood, but there are some well-known risk factors. Bloat occurs mainly in large breeds, particularly those with deep chests like Great Danes, Doberman Pinschers, and Standard Labradoodles. It can also happen to smaller dogs. It also happens more to the dogs over seven years of age not exclusively , and it is more common in males than in females. The risks increase if the stomach is full, either with food or with water. A dog that is fed once daily and eats very quickly could be at higher risk. Exercising after eating or after a big drink also increases the risk, and stress can also act as a trigger. Bloat can kill a dog in less than an hour. If you suspect that your Labradoodle has bloat, then get him into the car and off to the vet immediately. Bloat occurs when gas goes in as the dog eats or drinks. It can happen with or without the stomach twisting. As the stomach swells with gas, it can rotate 90 to degrees. The twisting stomach traps air, food, and water inside and bloated organ stops blood flowing properly to the veins in the abdomen that leads to low blood pressure, shock, and even damage to internal organs. Symptoms Bloat is extremely painful, and the dog will show signs of distress, although it may be difficult to distinguish them from other types of stress. Your Doodle may stand uncomfortably or seem to be anxious for no apparent reason. Another symptom is dry retching: the dog will often attempt to vomit every five to thirty minutes, but nothing is fetched up, except perhaps foam. Other signs include swelling of the abdomen, general weakness, difficulty breathing, rapid panting or drooling, or excessive drinking. His behavior will change, and he may do some of the following: whine, pace up and down, look for a hiding place or lick the air. Treatment Bloat is an emergency condition. Take your Doodle to a vet immediately. It is congenital and inherited. Because it is present in some Labradors, it may affect a small percentage of Labradoodles of whatever cross. The tricuspid valve is one of four heart valves, and if a puppy inherits the TVD gene or genes, then this valve will be malformed. It will not form a tight seal and allow blood to leak and flow back the wrong way. A puppy may be mildly or severely affected. In mild cases, the dog may live an average life span. Symptoms This problem may not be obvious, but there are some signs to look out for are fluid retention usually noticed as unexplained weight gain , cold extremities, and an intolerance to exercise. Many dogs, however, will exhibit no signs until heart failure occurs. Diagnosis A physical examination should find any leak from a faulty valve significant enough to cause health problems. Usually, a heart murmur will be heard with a stethoscope, although with extremely mild cases, this may not be so. If a heart murmur is detected in a young labradoodle, your vet will perform chest x-rays and an ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis and extent of the problem. There are other congenital heart problems besides TVD, so a full cardiac examination is essential to identify the exact problem. Treatment There is currently no cure for TVD, and treatment will depend on the severity of the condition. Mild cases may require no treatment whatsoever. More severe cases will be treated according to the symptoms. Canine Diabetes This is not an issue that mainly affects Labradoodles any more than any other type of dog. It can affect dogs of all breeds, sizes, and genders. There are two types: diabetes mellitus and diabetes insipidus. The most common form is Diabetes mellitus that affects one in dogs. Labradoodles have a moderate risk of contracting this. However, if left untreated, the disease can lead to cataracts, increasing weakness in legs, other ailments, and even death. In dogs, diabetes is typically seen anywhere between the age of four to fourteen months, with a peak at seven to nine years. Both males and females can develop it. Squirt voiced by Michael Rapaport — A yellow Chihuahua. The smallest and most street-smart of the group; Niblet's closest companion in the series. Squirt can be negative, but he will always be there for his team. Since he is the smallest member of the team, he sometimes ends up in wacky costumes in order to complete missions, including a cat, possum, rabbit, and flower. Squirt also had a friend named Peewee which he thought was eaten by an alligator. He gets adopted by accident in Season 2. Rebound voiced by Brooke Goldner — Niblet's little sister. True to her namesake, she was adopted and returned to the pound many times due to her overenthusiastic nature. She finally finds her forever home with Agatha McLeish. She is smart and quick-thinking, although sometimes her puppy energy gets her into sticky situations.
