No matter if you are determined to rescue a dog or just curious, can I please smack a big kiss on you for even thinking about it.I'd like to answer that question for you. We love dogs - plain and simple. We really love a lot of stuff. We love our family, we love the mountains, we love meeting new people, we love art, we love photography, we love the truth and we love life. Speaking of the truth. Therefore, there is a need for people like ourselves that already have a dog-seeking site to help facilitate wonderful animals finding a home. If you're reading this and wondering if there is another reason then just our love of animals for rescuing. Well, yes there is. We are breeders. Despite any bad press, breeders are part of the solution to neglected animals. We don't have puppies for fun or accident, that we hope our family, friends, or people at our local grocery store will take off our hands. We are the opposite of that. We spend most of our time speaking, emailing and texting families that are looking for a pet. We educate them, screen them for pet adoption, and support them once they do adopt. We are being responsible for the types of dogs we are breeding by selecting healthy, gentle, intelligent parents for our puppies. Our entire life is finding better ways to be good breeders and helping our families be good pet owners. With all this in mind, we believe that offering rescuing services will ensure none of our puppies we've placed in the world will ever end up in a kill shelter. We want to be the kind of breeder that supports our families for life. As a result, our families can call us and say they just can't keep their pet, for whatever reason, and we will come and get the dog. The first thing we do is have the owner explain everything about the pet they are giving up. We then bring that dog into our home and evaluate it's condition and get a game plan and timeline for finding it's new home. We are committed to keeping that dog for weeks or months until it's ready for adoption. We put that dog on our dog schedule; we do additional training; we crate train in our home; we have it sleep in our room at night for it to bond with us and see that this is it's home, and we bring it around town to socialize, socialize, socialize. Once that dog is ready to be adopted we post photos, a description, or both on our site and in advertising. Now, this rescuing isn't something new for us. As a child, I brought every stray animal home and nurtured it back to health and found it a home. I remember in college finding a stray dog with puppies behind our apartment complex with less than five dollars till the end of the week and no gas in my car. So, I asked a friend for a ride to the grocery store and posted a sign that I found a stray dog with puppies on the community board with my phone number. Next, I stood in the pet food isle and asked people if they would mind contributing a dollar so I could feed this skinny mommy so she could make milk for her puppies. A mean guy said he would get me a garbage bag to just dump them into. Well, I started balling. When he said that I freaked out that someone could even think that. I felt broken seeing this malnourished dog struggling with her puppies. I saw a person in there, a mom. Needless to say the man felt so bad when he saw me fall to pieces he handed me a twenty dollar bill. As I kept crying I thanked him and got food and some milk. I didn't know then that milk probably wasn't the best for this mommy dog. When I got back to my apartment I snuck the dog in and fed it warm milk and made a home for her and her puppies. No animals were allowed at our complex. Two of the puppies didn't make it and I was devastated. A friend came over and the mommy dog barked and really got protective so I really was getting stressed out about having this dog but I just couldn't put her outside. Luckily, a wonderful, beautiful lady called me that was a rescuer. She understood I was just a poor college student with limited resources. Two days later she arrived to pick up this dog. She said she would have the dog at her ranch until it was in better health then she would find it a home. Around a month later I received photos in the mail. The mommy stray and her three puppies found homes. One other thing, my apartment suddenly had flees and I had very upset roommates.Through this experience I learned a very important lesson, I could do something about another living thing struggling. I may have needed some financial help but all I had to do was ask. It's a fact that working together, placing an ad, asking for a donation, and doing the best I could do was good enough and that work helped get those dogs a home. Miracles happen, they really do. We are on some doodle rescue lists and many vets and shelters have our number. Many of our rescues have come from word of mouth. When we receive a rescue we do quarantine them from our doodles for a minimum of three weeks then do thorough testing for diseases before they come to our home. We typically work with a rescue for three to six months or as long as it takes. Next, is our re-homed doodles. Per our contract, we require all our adopting families, that can no longer care for their doodle, to return them to us for placement. A doodle can be returned for numerous reasons but in most cases that doodle is just too much for their adopting family. As a result, we occasionally have doodles available as re-homes. We always get a second and third opinion from outside trainers and behaviorists with every incoming dog. These evaluations are very informal and are more for the safety of our family and our doodles. We do not provide extensive reports, clinical diagnosis or professional evaluations. Instead, we use all the information we've collected and we work with each doodle until we can see they are ready for their forever home. Each of the doodles we offer are dogs I can and would live with myself. Now, I've been bitten numerous times, I've always had dogs, I've always rescued dogs and I'm quite experienced with dogs. With that said, I do not believe rescues or re-homes are appropriate for families with children and I prefer dogs with questionable pasts to go to families that are experienced with owning a dog. Please do not consider a rescued or re-homed doodle for the cost savings alone. Instead, consider a rescue or re-home for all the other wonderful benefits and perks of adopting an older dog. All of our rescues come with a contract, worming medication, blanket, 10 days of food, probiotics, toy, chew toy, tooth brush, microchip with lifetime membership in most cases, current vaccines, spayed or neutered, all the health records in our possession, life-time of support and small adoption fee. Past rescues and re-homes have ranged from to depending on many factors like costs incurred, age, training, desirable traits and expenses incurred to make them forever-home ready. Certain conditions need to be met to get Australian Labradoodle puppies. The first is if Labradoodle breeding reached the 5th generation. The Australian Labradoodle can be made up of three breeds, which is unlike any other crossbreeds that has two different purebred parents. Or if the result is from the continuous breeding of Labradoodles. Continuous breeding simply means that you would have to cross two Labradoodles who both have Labradoodle parents. Once those puppies are full-grown, you have to complete that process five times, five generations. Then you will get Australian Labradoodle puppies, which are a multigenerational crossbreed. These dogs are huge love bugs and will certainly want to cuddle with you too! These days everyone seems to want a Labradoodle! Lots of people are now breeding Labradoodles because of a huge demand. However, not all breeders are trustworthy. Reputable breeders will know how to breed a healthy puppy. They will also adhere to the standards set by the Australian Labradoodle Club of America. For first time owners Labradoodles are one of the best breeds because of how obedient and smart they are. Because they are a combination of a Labrador and a Poodle they can be easily trained. They also make great family dogs because of their gentleness with children. However, these dogs are not meant for everyone. They need someone who can be dedicated to them and can take them out on long walks and exciting adventures. Unfortunately this means some Labradoodles end up in shelters. Other times Labradoodles might grow larger than some people were expecting. By adopting a Labradoodle you are decreasing the demand on breeders and giving a dog a loving home. To help you on your journey we have put together a list of all the Labradoodle rescue shelters in the US. Just choose your state in the tool below and easily find Labradoodles for adoption near you. Make the Crate a Safe Place for Dog A dog crate is a great training tool and a comfortable place for your beloved buddy to sleep. Sleeping in a cage at night teaches puppies how to manage their bladder and intestines. Kennels are also good for when nobody can be home to watch over your new pet. Some individuals keep their kennels in their bedrooms, particularly if you have a dog that readily experiences loneliness or anxiety. Many dogs can benefit from using a cage cover, such as a blanket or cover designed specifically for crates. Crate covers make dogs feel calmer and less anxious by reducing visual stimulus, which reduces excitement and barking. When dogs are in a covered crate, they are less likely to respond to movement in their surrounding. A covered crate can also come in handy while traveling with a dog who becomes anxious during the voyage. Need alternatives to crate training? Click here to learn more. It depends on the reasons you began crating them at night in the first place. If you were only crate training them, you can stop when they have gone more than two months without an accident. Due to their bigger bladders, larger dogs typically accomplish this milestone earlier. Due to the smaller size of their bladders, little dogs may need to spend more time in their crates. Simply because you have to take them outdoors more frequently, they are sometimes harder to teach to use the restroom. There are a few reasons, though, why you might wish to keep your dog in the crate once potty training is complete. Some dogs will get into problems if they are not watched, even if they are not having accidents. As a result, even when they are toilet trained, many pups will still need to be crated. Many dogs need to be closer to two years old before they can be fully trusted. We advise crate training your dog until they reach this stage at night. You might be able to let your dog out of their box at night if you can leave them unsupervised at home for a few hours. A dog may experience frustration and feel confined if treated improperly. Additionally, crates may not be a choice for many dogs. Following are some cautions to be considered. Use Crate to Manage Behavior! Crates can be employed to control behavior, but they should never be employed as a form of punishment. Using goodies to lure your dog into the crate until they like doing so on their own can establish a pleasant relationship with it, regardless of the timing. Keep your dog out of the crate after a short while. There are more tools than crates. Make the Crate a Safe Place for Dog For your dog to enter the crate when they need a secure place, it should always contain a comfy bed and be kept open when you are at home. That is just another sign that your dog needs some peace. Teach kids and guests to leave your dog alone if they see him or her entering the crate. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. By: DigitalDog Crates, kennels, cages and probably a host of other references both admiring and disdaining have labelled the modern age's answer to the doghouse. With the exception of some types of collars notably choke and electric shock no other piece of training equipment has been the source of more controversy. This is perhaps more the fault of how the crate is used than due to any inherent aspect of the crate itself. Ultimately, a crate is to serve to replicate the sense of a den. Whether wild or not, dogs seem to have a preference for some rather interesting cozy places. Dogs will find their favorite place under a wide variety of items typically with very low clearances like porches, beds and tables. Crates serve as a great tool for preventing the creation of bad habits and life threatening possibilities. A dog that is crated will not slip out the door, they will not consume garbage or chew on electrical cords during those few moments that you can't supervise them. Clearly, this type of influence with your new dog, be they young or old, can go great lengths in maintaining domestic harmony while they learn the new routine and manners needed. Additionally, a crated dog is one who's energy level is being influenced. It is far easier to communicate to a dog that it's nap time. This again offers the benefit of helping you introduce and reinforce the preferred routine. To argue that you wouldn't want to be in a crate so you wouldn't put your dog in one, or that it seems like a prison, can have merit depending on how the crate is used. First, let's consider that when you were a child and without the sense of routines, manners and good judgment, you were closely monitored, probably very closely monitored. You were diapered and a good parent would alert the moment you weren't in eyeshot. You would have spent some amount of time in cribs, walkers, playpens, etc. Ultimately, many of us were crated during our formative years, for many of the same reasons mentioned here. Much as when we were children, the issue was less that these tools were employed and more how they were employed. Using a crate begins with its introduction. Many pups are introduced to a crate for the first time when they leave their litter and are sent home, alone. This is a bit unfortunate. It's a lot for a puppy to cope with and for that puppy who has already grown familiar to a crate, perhaps by climbing on and sleeping in while with his littermates, it serves to be something comforting during this period of stress. For a puppy that has never been around a crate before, it is just another trauma. Regardless, either pup can quickly learn to appreciate their crate as a haven of peace, security and safety. Crates can also be used in such a way as to create problems or at least make them worse. Excessive crating for long periods of time is difficult for dogs to tolerate. Their very instinct compels them to choose a place other than their "bedroom" for eliminating. Leaving a dog in a crate for a long period of time will only increase their restlessness as their discomfort finds outlet. Dogs that will ultimately eliminate in the crate can be remarkably challenging to housetrain. It's also been said that crates should not be used for punishment. This is accurate but requires some understanding of a consequence versus a punishment. By simply crating a dog to end an undesirable behavior for example, a dog fight you are able to communicate safety, security and the fact that its time to chill, in one fairly easy motion. To scream at the dog while you are doing this would only add to the tension and potential aggression and resentment. So, how does a loving dog owner consider introducing a crate. Ideally, you have a week or so where you can allow the dog in the room around the crate to consider it with the door open. You feed the dog in the crate again with the door open and have inviting things in the crate, like a bed. Should the dog go into the crate unbidden, you can provide them with a chew toy and close the door. They may show initial restlessness like a bit of whining but this should pass minutes depending on the character of your individual and they will begin to entertain themselves or nap. At this point, you can let them out. Early on, the most challenging and perhaps necessary aspect of the crate training is to let them out when they are quiet. A barking dog will quickly learn that his noise results in the crate door opening. This is not an ideal precedent for a long and happy life with your dog! Crating with the door closed should be kept to a minimum at this point of minutes at a time. When the dog is let out of the crate, they should be escorted to a proper potty place and essentially ignored until they get that job out of the way. Praise then follows. Should our canine friend forget why they are out there, they will go back into the crate after the exercise session. House privileges need to be reserved for dogs that aren't getting ready to "go". Within the previous paragraph is the philosophy behind crate training and its contributions to housetraining. As the dog becomes more familiar with the crate, times can be increased. Ideally, at least as a routine, dogs should not be left crated for much more than 4 hours and this would be an adult. While the need may not be desperate, after 4 hours, virtually all dogs feel the need to potty and stretch. The exception to this is overnight as many dogs and people can sleep the night through comfortably but with a fairly immediate need in the morning. Certainly many dogs are in schedules that are more demanding, even to the point of 10 hours crated while their owners are at work five days a week. This level of crating is very challenging over the long term and some if not many, will end up with anxiety as a result and become difficult to crate, destructive when they are out, hyperactive and generally neurotic as they have few options in dealing with this level of stress. To suggest that these dogs would be better left loose in the house is equally irresponsible as they are so stressed as to now lack assuming they ever had them the skills to deal with good behavior while loose. For a dog that is either inexperienced or now expressing the result of a poor crating schedule, the best choice in most cases is to introduce the dog to a more ideal schedule and regular breaks ideally starting at more often than every 4 hours. Crate training a dog can be a great way to help them feel comfortable and safe in your home. But there are a few things you should keep in mind if you want to be successful using a consistent routine. Ensuring you follow the tips listed below will make for an easier time training your pup. Choose the right size crate. Your pup should be able to stand up and turn around inside comfortably. Put the crate in a quiet, out-of-the-way place. Placing a blanket over the crate will help make it more comfortable as they will be in a den like environment. Make the crate inviting. Put a soft blanket or pillow inside and give your pup some of his favorite toys to play with. Get your pup used to the crate gradually. Start by putting him in there for short periods of time and gradually increase the time he spends in there. Great ways to do this are to leave for a few minutes at a time at first, and then extend your trips out of the house by half-hour increments. Never use the crate as punishment. Your pup should always associate the crate with positive experiences. Be patient. It takes time for pups to learn that the crate is a safe, comfortable place. With patience and consistency, your pup will be crate-trained in no time! Boxer Puppy Potty Training Tips Accidents happen, but with a little patience and perseverance, you can potty train your boxer puppy in no time. The key is to be consistent with your commands and rewards, and to have a little patience. Here are some tips to get you started: Start with short training sessions and potty breaks. Trying to potty train your puppy all at once is likely to overwhelm them. Start with short minute sessions a few times a day. Use the same command each time. Consistency is key to training in any command you might try to teach them. Reward good behavior. If your puppy does their business outside, be sure to give them plenty of praise and a treat. This will help them associate going potty with something positive. Watch for warning signs. Take them outside right away so they can relieve themselves in the right spot. You can avoid this by attaching them to your hip with a leash so you can keep a better eye on them. Establish a routine. Accidents happen. Instead, clean it up with an enzymatic cleaner to remove the scent, and then take him outside immediately so he can finish his business in the right place. Do not rub their nose in the accident. This will do nothing but make them more anxious about the entire process. Be consistent. With these potty training tips, you can have your pup house-trained in no time. Be consistent with commands and rewards, and stay patient—accidents happen! Starting with using positive reinforcement, such as treats or praise, whenever your pup enters their crate will help to create a good association. You can then leave them in the crate for short periods of time with each training session, gradually increasing the time they are in there. This will help them get used to being in there for longer periods of time during the day, or even at night. Doing so will unnecessarily stress them out and cause more issues than you started with. If you need to leave them there for longer periods of time, provide them with plenty of toys and chewies to keep them occupied or this may cause destructive behavior. Leave the crate open for your pup to go in and out of as they please. This will teach them the crate is a safe space where they can retreat should they feel overwhelmed. As mentioned, placing a blanket over the crate will create a den and cause denning, one of the natural instincts where your pup will only sleep in their crate and come out to relieve themselves. This will cause your pup to associate being in there with negative things and make the training process that much harder. If they have an accident in the crate , simply clean it up and move on. Remember, accidents happen. No matter how well you think you have things under control, there will always be times when your pup has an accident. The key is to not get frustrated and to keep working with them, take them out for bathroom breaks often, and always stay positive. Related: Why is my pup digging in his crate? Potty Training Without a Crate While crate training is more effective, some people do not want to use a crate or cannot use a crate. For those people, here are the basic rules for potty training without using a crate. Remember to be patient and consistent with your dog, as it may take them longer to learn where they should go potty without crate training. When potty training a dog without a crate, you need to take them out for frequent bathroom breaks. Using a baby gate to confine them to a small room works just as well as a crate. You need to take your dog out frequently, especially after they eat or drink. Puppies usually have to go potty every few hours, so prepare to take them out often. Always praise your dog when they go potty in the right spot to give the act a positive association. This will only make your puppy afraid. Just clean it up and try again next time. It is possible to start potty training an 8 week old puppy, but it will take longer since they are still learning. However, some pups may take longer if they are resistant to training or if their owners are not consistent with the potty training regimen. Meal time with a regular feeding schedule is especially important to use for training purposes. This will improve the older they get and with basic commands in place. How long does it take to potty train a Boxer puppy? It can take several weeks to a few months to toilet train a Boxer puppy. It depends on how quickly they learn and how often they have accidents. If your pup is having trouble learning, or seems to have trouble holding it, it may be something your vet should check as there could be an underlying health issue. How do I stop my Boxer from soiling in the house? If your Boxer is peeing in the house, the best thing to do is to give them plenty of times during the day to relieve themselves. You may also need to confine them to a smaller area. They should be able to stand up and turn around in the crate. If they potty in the house, ensure you clean it properly and do not punish them for having an accident. This will only cause undesirable behaviors and it will take longer to train them. Having an intelligent and high-energy breed such as the boxer can make training challenging if not done right. What are the signs that my boxer needs to go potty? Some signs that your boxer needs to go potty are sniffing around, circling, or barking. Sniffing around is the biggest sign you should look out for. If you see any of these signs, take them outside right away to avoid an accident. Conclusion Anyone who has potty trained a puppy knows it can be a bit of a challenge. Housebreaking takes time, patience, and a lot of trips outside. Well, never fear! It is possible to potty train a boxer puppy without locking them up in a small space. Twitter LinkedIn Before we talk about the 4 easy ways to crate train your boxer. The following are a list of behaviors and issues that should be addressed prior to crate training: Dogs who suffer from fears or anxiety should not be confined in a crate. This teaches the dog to associate the crate negatively. Step 1: Buy a crate! Crates come in different sizes and styles, consider the style and size of the crate before you buy it. Your boxer should be able to stand in the crate without crouching. Crates can be expensive depending on the size and style of the crate you choose. The picture of the crate to the left is the one we have for our 65 lb. Of course, all kidding aside -boxers are known to get in trouble so consider carefully what you leave in the crate. Make sure the crate has water. We used a water bottle instead of leaving a bowl. We did try a bowl, but quite frankly it ended up being a mess. It lasted about 3 days. The water bottle pictured to the left is the one we have for our boxers and has been tested by us and deemed for the most part boxer proof. It actually mounts to the cage and is chew proof because it is glass. Choose a high traffic area: Dogs especially boxers like to be around people. They are also denning animals. Once your boxer is trained, the crate will serve as the den. Find an area in your home that will accommodate both. Move the crate to bedroom at night: Again boxers want to be around their people. While you are training, keep the crate near you and move it into your bedroom at night. This is a little bit of an inconvenience right now, but your boxer will take to the crate much faster if you do this now. When your dog or puppy is in the crate positively reinforce with: Primary Reinforcers: food and treats Secondary Reinforcers: verbal praise and games In other words, make it a rewarding and fun experience. Also, do not punish your dog in the crate- this will make it a negative experience for the dog. Step 4: Leaving The House Start leaving the house when your dog feels comfortable being alone in the crate for about 30 minutes or so. Start leaving the house for short periods of time. As time goes on, you can increase the time and leave for longer. You do not want the dog to associate your coming home with getting out of the crate although generally this will be the case. Get settled and then take the dog right outside to relieve itself. Frequently Asked Question! Answer: Leave the crate open, feed them in the crate start in close proximity to the door and move the bowl further into the crate at each feeding , leave treats in the crate the same way. It might take a little time to get them accustom to the crate. Email: [email protected] Did you like this article? If so, please go back to www.

History of French bulldog puppies Despite what its name may imply, the french bulldog was developed in England. When activities like this were outlawed in England in , the English Bulldog was bred down in size, resulting in the Toy Bulldog. During the Industrial Revolution, these Toy Bulldogs were brought to France by English lace workers, and the French immediately took a liking to the little dog. So, they began to import more and more of the breed. Over time, the Toy Bulldog became a breed of its own, and was eventually named the French Bulldog. Frenchies are very adaptable, so they make great pets for first-time dog owners. They adjust well to other animals, too, and are great with kids. Still, most, if not all, French Bulldogs respond well to reward-based training and positive reinforcement. As long as they receive the attention and care they need, French Bulldogs make wonderful, easy companions for all types of people. This darling girl is ready to be shown off to your friends! So we usually have a good selection of very high quality puppies. View Our Available Puppies! Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments. Let us know in the comments below! These are the typical week-by-week Goldendoodles stages that you will go through with a new Goldendoodle puppy and what signs to look for that they are not developing correctly. Predicting average weights in Goldendoodles is challenging. The parent breeds are the strongest predictor of size, but hybrids can be unpredictable. Standard poodles and Golden Retrievers are both large dog breeds. However, a toy poodle or mini poodles can be bred to larger breeds like Golden Retrievers to produce a much smaller dog, like a toy Goldendoodle or even teacup Goldendoodles. Dogs with long lines registered with the Goldendoodle Association may have more predictable traits, but not as much as an AKC purebred dog. These puppies are born blind, deaf, and without teeth. These first weeks are a very critical time in their development. Your puppy will start to open their eyes at about 2 weeks of age. By the time that they are 3 weeks, their ears will be open, and you will start to notice that their teeth are pushing through their gums. At the end of this first stage, your Goldendoodle puppy will be aware of their surroundings. They will start to bark, crawl, and interact with the other puppies in their litter. At the end of this first puppy stage, they are aware of everything that is around them and are trying to crawl, bark, and interact with their littermates. During this time, they will continue to grow in size rapidly. Most importantly, they start to get more socially active with their mom, littermates, and the people in their lives. Your puppy will start to learn many new things during this stage of puppy development. Their mother will begin to teach them a few basic manners and start the weaning process. They will learn how to play with other puppies and what other puppies will tolerate. This is when they will learn how strong of a bite they have and what is okay for playing. They will usually establish a pecking order within the litter of puppies. This is the main reason why most breeders do not recommend taking the puppies from their litter and mother until they are about 7 to 8 weeks old. By 6 to 7 weeks of age, your Goldendoodle puppy will be able to be left alone for a short period of time. They will also be doing normal puppy behaviors such as eating puppy food , walking, running, and wagging their tail. This is also the time that your Goldendoodle puppy will need their first set of vaccines and dewormed. Most breeders will take their puppies to the vet for these vaccines. This way, they know that their puppies have received the vaccines that they need to get started off on the right track. Stage 3: 7 weeks to 12 Weeks After 7 weeks of age, your puppy is old enough to leave their mother and other littermates and go to their new home. This will probably be around the age when your first get your Goldendoodle. At first, try to keep everything just like the breeder had been. This helps keep your puppy on a normal routine while they are adjusting to their new house. Once your puppy has been at your house for a few days, you can slowly switch things if you want. You may already have a diet you want your puppy to eat. Also, make sure that your dog is eating large-breed puppy food. This will make sure that your Goldendoodle puppy is receiving the best nutrition needed for their fast-growing body. If you do plan on switching diets, make sure that you do this slowly; quickly changing diets can cause GI problems in your new puppy. At this age, your puppy will be ready to start learning everything and experiencing everything you are ready to teach them. They learn very fast at this age, so it is important to make sure that you are teaching them correctly. Your puppy can learn basic commands and manners by going to puppy classes. This will also give them socialization with other puppies and people during this stage. Having many different social encounters will help them become a very well-mannered dog. During this time, your Goldendoodle puppy may show signs of fear. This is a normal experience for a puppy to go through. They may be afraid of certain people, places, or things that they have never been afraid of. During this time, it is important to continue to socialize your Goldendoodle puppy and show them that these things are not as scary as they first thought they were. Make sure not to expose them to a lot of simulations at once, as these can cause them to become more afraid. Stage 4: 3 months to 4 months This is the stage of development when your Goldendoodle puppy will start to become independent. They may even start to challenge you or even ignore you. This is very similar to the terrible twos in people. Your Goldendoodle puppy will also start teething around this time. They will have very painful gums, which will cause them to want to bite and chew on anything possible. Make sure that you are providing your puppy with plenty of approved chewing toys in order to keep your shoes and furniture from becoming the next chew object. During this stage, you may find that you are telling your puppy no a lot. All this training will eventually pay off, and your puppy will be very well-mannered and do what you tell them to. Most of the time, your Goldendoodle puppy just wants to please you. All you must do is give them a little patience and love, and they will quickly learn what is expected of them. By starting obedience classes during this time, you will help your puppy become a friendly and well-behaved adult Goldendoodle. Stage 5: 4 months to 10 months During this time, your Goldendoodle puppy will continue to grow and develop very quickly. It is very important to continue teaching and training your Goldendoodle puppy. They will learn how to adapt to different social situations and what behavior is approved and what is not approved during this time. They will also continue to challenge you, so be prepared to stick to your training and not back off. During this time, your Goldendoodle may act a little bratty. There are going through their teenage years during this time. Also, during this time, do not let your dog play-bite with you, as this can teach them to be aggressive and encourage other dominant behaviors Around 6 months of age, it is advised to spay or neuter your Goldendoodle puppy. These procedures will help your puppy stay healthy and happy as well as prevent unwanted litters that end up in the shelter. Stage 6: 10 months to 1 Year During this stage, small Goldendoodles will reach their full size. They will usually reach maturity around 8 to 12 months of age. Larger Goldendoodles will continue to grow during this time and may not fully develop until they are 18 months to 2 years old. Your Goldendoodle puppy may now look like an adult dog; they usually are still developing mentally. They will have a ton of energy and usually not a lot of common sense. You will still need to monitor your Goldendoodle for any unwanted behavior and quickly correct any problems that you notice starting. Even though they are no longer a puppy, they will still need to continue training and learning commands. At this stage, your Goldendoodle will need lots of attention and exercise to keep them for getting into trouble. Always use a very firm voice and positive reinforcement when training and correcting unwanted behavior. It is best to have a loving and patient but firm voice when training your Goldendoodle Stage 7: 1 year and Older Between 1 and 2 years of age, your Goldendoodle will be fully developed and sexually mature. Your puppy will finally stop growing but may fill out in size just a little. At this point, you can now start exercising more with your Goldendoodle. They love to go for a jog, do agility training, or go for a long hike. Since their bones are now fully developed, there is less likely that they are going to have joint or stress injuries. This is also the best time to switch your puppy from puppy food to adult food. It is always best to stay with the same brand of puppy food that you fed to help decrease any GI signs from switching food. When switching food, it is recommended to switch food slowly. Also, make sure that the diet that you are feeding your Goldendoodle puppy is a high-quality diet. When will my Goldendoodle puppy need to be vaccinated? This is a common schedule most veterinarians follow when vaccinating puppies. This is usually done by the breeder before you get your Goldendoodle puppy. Most of these worms are microscopic, but some you can see in their stool. If you see worms, make sure to let your vet know. Your vet can give your Goldendoodle puppy medication to get rid of these nasty worms. Not only will your pet need vaccines, but they will also need heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. All of these parasites can cause health problems in your Goldendoodle, some of which can be fatal. If you notice something is not right in your Goldendoodle puppy, it is best to take them to the vet. Some very young Goldendoodle puppies can have problems regulating their blood sugar. If you notice that your Goldendoodle puppy has diarrhea, this can be from the stress of going to a new house, parasites, or even parvo. Any problems noticed in your puppy could be very serious, your vet can examine your pet and make sure that there is nothing that is wrong with your puppy. It would be better to be safe than sorry if your pet has something very serious going on. Both parvo and parasites can easily be prevented by sticking to the vaccine schedule and making sure that your puppy is properly dewormed. How big will my Goldendoodle puppy be? It can be hard to tell as puppies which one will be the biggest or which one will be the smallest. Usually, from the time that they are born until the day that you pick up your new puppy, all the puppies in the litter will change in size. At 8 weeks old, the smallest in the litter will usually be the smallest when they are all fully grown. The older your puppy gets, the easier it will be to determine if your puppy will be bigger or smaller. The exact adult weight can be a guess, but you can expect a miniature Goldendoodle to weigh about 4 to 9 pounds at 8 weeks old and a standard Goldendoodle to weigh over 9 pounds at 8 weeks old, and a medium-size Goldendoodle to fall between the 8 to pound range. Most dogs do most of their growing in the first 6 months of life. Smaller and miniature Goldendoodles will be half-grown at 4 months of age, with larger Goldendoodles taking a few months longer to reach this half-grown point. The larger the dog, the longer it will take them to reach adult size. When will my Goldendoodle Puppy stop growing? It may seem as if your Goldendoodle is getting bigger each day. Most Goldendoodle will be done growing by 1 to 2 years of age. They will usually reach their maximum height by 1 year of age and just fill out a little bit in the next year. Miniature Goldendoodle will be done growing by 7 to 10 months. The smaller the dog, the quicker they reach their adult body weight. Standard Goldendoodle should reach their full size by 2 years of age. After your Goldendoodle reaches 1 year of age, you need to monitor what you are feeding them. Lexie, 5-year-old fully grown F2 Mini Goldendoodle. Adult Stage Since your puppy is now over a year old, they are not growing, but there are some things that you need to consider as they start to get older. Goldendoodles that have just matured are usually very active. As your Goldendoodle gets older, they will start to slow down and sleep a little more. There are diseases that you need to look out for as your Goldendoodle gets older. If you notice any of these signs in your Goldendoodle, you need to see a veterinarian. Predicting the mature size of a puppy is by no means an exact science, especially with a hybrid breed like the goldendoodle. How big will my goldendoodle puppy be? From birth until the gotchya day, puppies have fluctuated back and forth in terms of who weighs the most. Even though adult weight is a bit of a guess for a young puppy, expect mini goldendoodles to weigh 4lbs-9lbs at 8 weeks of age. A medium puppy and standard puppy may both weigh 9lbs at 8 weeks old, but the standard puppy with gain weight at a quicker rate than the medium. Like most dog breeds, goldendoodles generally do the majority of their growing in the first six months of life. In fact, many mini goldendoodle puppies reach half of their adult weight by four months. Standard goldendoodles may take a month or so longer to reach that halfway mark. The larger the dog, the longer growing takes. For mini goldendoodles, expect the weight to start leveling off between months of age. Standard goldendoodles, like other large dog breeds, will grow for a longer period of time. While this rule may work for many standards, it is not accurate with smaller-sized goldendoodles who finish growing at a younger age. When will my goldendoodle stop growing? Dogs can finish growing anywhere between years of age, but generally reach their maximum height by a year of age and spend the remaining months filling out. This means your dog might hit a growth spurt right after her first birthday — she might not get any taller but she could thicken up. Golden retrievers grow at a slower rate in terms of height than standard poodles, but fill out more quickly. Golden retrievers tend to finish growing and filling out between months while standard poodles can take up to 2 years to accomplish the same. Established breeds generally reproduce naturally, whereas first-generation mini goldendoodles require artificial insemination. Subsequent generations of hybrid breeds i. F1b, F2b, etc. F1b goldendoodles can potentially have a slightly more predictable size range if the parents are similar sizes. Our 19lb F1 goldendoodle and 24lb poodle produce F1b mini goldendoodle puppies ranging in weight from lbs as adults. They are bouncy, tail wagging, cuddle bugs, the cutest things ever! Uncle Al lives in our "apartment", the walkout basement downstairs. We help Uncle Al with his Pugs. They are wonderful caring moms! When our moms retire we have them spayed and offer them to pet only homes for about half the cost of a puppy. They will be on the retired parent page at that time. Diva will be available this late winter or spring .See the other pages: "About our puppies," "what comes with your puppy", and " is a puppy really right for you. Or maybe adopt a rescued adult Pug. Rescue is always the best! Do your homework, since a rescued dog needs a home appropriate for their needs as much as a puppy! A puppy is a very serious decision. Please do not get a puppy or a dog if you have any hesitation about long term responsibility of a furry best friend. We love our puppies and dogs and only want them in a home where they will be a part of the family! If interested in a puppy please email or call. Remainder due on pick up. Pugs are heat and cold sensitive. Not at all a 'hiking in all weather' type of dog. Some are amazingly agile, fast, and athletic and do tolerate a wider range of temperature. Others are at risk of collapsing if overheated when simply out on a warm day and playing. Many make terrific therapy dogs. They are very tolerant of children. Puppies available now! All puppies are kept current on vaccinations, dewormed several times, microchipped, and well socialized. Puppies are microchipped and current on vaccinations. About Us Art loves all the critters too. He's also capable of fixing anything he puts his mind too. A handy man is just the best! Its not unusual for me to be up every 3 hours around the clock feeding babies of some variety, puppies, but also baby pigs, bunnies, and some other critters that seem to just fall into our lap. We have had extended family and friends visit, move in and stay, or live here as a temporary home as they each build their own dream. My Uncle AL moved here in .In my aging mother and frail aunt also moved here full time. We completed their own little house here on the farm in fall of .My cousin Brenda lived here for a time. Then Aryne, a young mom with 3 little boys, we met in December moved in April .She needed a place and we needed help with paperwork and getting the house for my mom and aunt completed. She has her own place now and a few furry friends of her own including a cavalier named Sophie, and her poodle boy Sonny. My daughter left her corporate job, now works here part-time and is raising their wonderful boys. My only 2 grandchildren. I am SO fortunate they live close so I am a part of their life! Nothing like a job that you can show up and go home, whenever it works best for your family. Family is 1! Libbie worked here awhile, a sister to a friend of ours mid to spring .She added more help for the puppies and dogs to have socializing. She has had some schooling to be a therapy dog trainer. Plus she's great at paperwork! She is now doing her own thing; original art work! If you would like a custom puppy, or dog portrait please contact her, she is exceptionally good! She also does art of other animals and people, Seriously talented! In January one of Art's older sisters had a rough time and moved in. She wasn't able to use the stairs in order to have the big bedroom downstairs that extended guests usually use. She needed her medical issues brought under control, plus her very aged dog and old cat moved in with us too. The dog was at the vets regularly with severe intestinal issues, testicular cancer a good reason to neuter pets when young! He is doing much better health-wise now, although is a confused very old dog. The old dog ruined the carpet when Renee was unable to take him out often enough. We replaced it with easy to wash vinyl in November .Renee doesn't drive so Art and I had spent a lot of time on the road getting her and the dog where they needed to go all of .For specialty vet care we go all the way to Hannibal MO. We love Advanced Vet Care up there! Her cat was doing ok, but apparently had cancer and why she just wouldn't really improve. When she was no longer comfortable she was humanely taken to the vets and put to sleep. Very sad. Very sweet beautiful cat. I think she created a rainbow ladder for other needy cats to find their way here. We ended up with 21 additional cats added to the farm in ! We have spayed and neutered them all, took awhile. Many have slowly found their ways into good homes. One strangely moved up the lane to the neighbors house. We seen her all the time but only recently learned he keeps food out for her and gives her lots of attention.Renee found a really nice apartment, October .We were going to build her a place here, but she doesn't like me much, and she wanted her own place, which worked out so much better. Cujo, the old dog, is still hanging in there. Things evolve. In winter we hired Brandy, an accountant part time, who was also a full time college student. Her husband, Mike, lucky for us, wasn't very busy so he started working here helping with basic livestock animal chores, some help with the dogs, plus big time farm clean-up and renovation. My son, Keith, and Mike work great together and have steadily organized and repaired the things Art and I couldn't get to with the furry critters taking all our time and attention. Mike and Brandy are now living on the farm, hopefully for a long time, but the farm is probably a stepping stone as they of course have their own dreams. With the Covid pandemic it was very fortunate for us to have help who lived here as Kim and Libbie were home on the stay at home order. Kim is also now home schooling the boys. Brandy had family matters and college on-line taking all her time for awhile. Mike was my only help, which he did livestock chores morning and night, keeping up with long term goals of building and repairs with Keith and helped with dogs when I just couldn't keep up from early April to this update, mid-May. Kim would come by and couple hours here and there as she could. I had to set up an auto-reply on email as we were getting thousands of emails, doing all the dog chores with Art gone, and almost no help with the jobs Kim, Libbie and I did for office work it has been all I could do to try and keep up. The critters come first. They are doing terrific! The Covid hasn't effected them in the least, even if I am ready to drop from exhaustion! She is doing the accounting farm stuff. Kim worked a bit more to help with registrations and the things Libbie was doing that has piled up. Ethan started work in May and caught on really fast. He has been terrific with helping with dogs and puppy cleaning. Let me go back to working just the typical 1. Its August now .Brandy and Ethan are going back to school, Kim will have her 2 boys being homeschooled. Art is back and slowly getting his health back and helping as he can. I just heard the first 4 cases of covid are in Bunker Hill, the town closest to us. Prayers everyone reading this and their families and friends are ok! I can still look across the fields and trees and feel blessed every day to be so fortunate to have a beautiful space to call home with friends and family all living here, never a dull moment. Like many, the stress of Covid is always on our mind with so many susceptible people living here, plus friends and family who are all at risk. I feel so bad for those many people isolated during this stressful pandemic when accustomed to going out and socializing! Hopefully everyone has windows to be able to notice the shapes in the clouds, dream of new projects, complete some goals, and catch an occasional rainbow! Hang in there! Having issues coping, look up many articles on ambiguous loss to understand the immense invisible stress, and please call; hotlines, friends, or family and get help! There is beauty all around us, and in us, despite our emotional brain blocking what our senses can pick up in the here and now! Recommendations Food: Please remember no food is perfect, adding "toppers" to dogs food for variety and interest. Real people food with no additives, like cooked chicken, beef, green beans, carrots, ect.Its a great little pet shop that offers dog washing, training and list of services and products. We usually feed Fromm Surf and Turf to the puppies who we have retained, to any of our potential moms, or bred moms and stud dogs. We often add some of the other kibble to their food for variety. There are other Fromm foods that are great, we just have not used all of them. Fromm Beef Frittata, and Heartland Gold adult have made our rotation. We have tried many, many dry foods over the years. Many are great for a few months or a couple years, and then we see strange things happening in the dogs. Eventually it dawned on me that any food can not be perfect, advertised as: "for the life of your dog" really is not a good idea unless you add variety with scraps, or toppers. Seriously, how can any man made food be perfect? People don't know everything, new nutrients and needs for those nutrients are discovered all the time. The healthiest dogs are those who get lots of exercise, and a variety of real foods. Look at the label of what you eat, and what is in most dog foods. Both can be scary. Wetting any dry dog food and letting it absorb the water, before giving it to them is said to help the dog digest any dry kibble better. We would have hard time doing that as we like to full feed our dogs and puppies. We cant afford to throw away and waste wet food not eaten. We do wet puppies foods when they are very young. Since any dog can eat a different amount on any given day we rarely measure their food making them eat one amount each day. The English bulldogs we purchased as adults only one is on measured feed. More exercise is working for every other dog, despite the fact they are said to "require" food limitations for weight control. Trainers: Kim, my daughter has gone from a high end coorpertate world for 18 years, where she was the only female and also the youngest ever to be promoted to the position she held until being a stay at home mom summer .I could not be more proud of my grown kids for being honest, kind, harding working members of society. She has more patience and more persistence then any person I have ever met. Absolutely perfect for training! Plus she loves animals and its all done with love and their best interest at heart. Now that she has time she is going to train a limited number of horses in the basics of eventing for her instructor who has retired race horses. The horses can be hot headed, and are always a very sensitive lot. The horses just bloom under her riding! We have had families getting our puppies ask if we can start housebreaking for them, or trained puppies. We just did not have the time to offer that service. Puppies will be well socialized with children, other dogs, and cats. In addition they will be housebroken or well started depending on age and how long the puppy is in training taught to walk on a leash, crate trained, and learn "sit. She may be willing to board and train other puppies, but will have some age, and vaccinations requirements. Price may also be different. Older puppies and dogs are much harder to re-train then puppies are to start correctly. Plus since she has children, dogs, and cats she will not put any of them at risk if an older puppy, or dog is having aggression issues. ALL aggression issues are a direct result of a puppy, or dog not having the right guidance. Personalities are different, but respect for people is training. I have heard great things about Kennelwood Villiage in St. It is wonderful for dogs in sports, and dogs recovering from injuries, or older dogs who are just stiff a sore. You should see them melt under her hands! Her work is top notch. She can do whimsical and also very detailed realistic work. She will do custom portraits of your new puppy or dog, besides has art in several mediums, and jewelry for sale. Please email: elisheva.

A cross between the Labrador Retriever and the Poodle, the Labradoodle is an intelligent and friendly breed. They love nothing more than to be around their family. The Labradoodle combines the energy of the Labrador Retriever with the strong work ethic and intelligence of the Poodle. They do have a desire to please so training is not overly difficult but early training is necessary. The Labradoodle gets along well with everyone, from other dogs and pets to children — though their size may be a bit problematic for smaller children. They enjoy hanging out with you on the couch but can easily transition to playful and energetic. Though they will bark when a stranger is near, they will not make a good guard dog due to their friendly nature. Overall, the Labradoodle is a great pet for first-time owners thanks to their friendly nature and easy trainability. We are so grateful that we are able to help you rescue the dog of your dreams. In addition to coming back here, you can also check us out on Facebook , Twitter , and Pinterest for additional info on rescue groups near you, current posts, and pictures! Special Note: You can also check them on Facebook. Labs and More Rescue LMR — California This San Diego-based non-profit organization has already saved more than 12, abandoned and surrendered Labradoodles and other dog breeds in just a decade. They exert effort in salvaging dogs from high-kill shelters and discarded pooches on streets. They provide medical assistance to the dog they rescue as well as other necessities such as food and shelter. Their Labradoodles also undergo behavioral training before being cleared for adoption. Younger and healthier dogs cost higher compared to the senior ones. Nevertheless, all of the dogs in LMR can still make perfect family pets. They are worthy of the second chance to have a forever family. Most of the steps in the adoption process of this Labradoodle rescue are similar to what other rescues practice, but they have adoption coaches. These adoption coaches will guide you in understanding the value of adopting as well as the responsibilities it entails. Carolina Poodle Rescue is one of the few Doodle rescues with dedicated facilities for rehabilitation and rescuing. Their facility is called the Dreamweaver farms located at Pacolet, South Carolina. With the existence of this facility, they can take in hundreds of rescued dogs at a given time. They provide immediate medical attention and care to the dogs they rescue. Since most of the rescued dogs suffered terrible experiences of neglect, CPR makes sure to address the behavioral issues the dogs might have before clearing them for adoption. Their adoption fee varies depending on the age, breed, and health condition of the dog. Meanwhile, they also provide a set of guidelines for adoption that applicants must adhere to. Here are the minimum requirements that you should meet upon applying adoption from CPR: A fenced yard is strictly required. Families with members under five 5 years of age are not approved for adoption. Current pets at home must be neutered or spayed. Pet shipping is prohibited so you should be able to personally pick up the dog. The adopter must be able to visit the facility for the meet and greet. You can also check their adoption procedures by visiting their website or reaching out to them through email and call. Since its establishment in , it has already saved almost a thousand abandoned and surrendered dogs. All of the Labradoodles they rescue receive health examinations and behavioral modifications before adoption. This rescue follows a foster scheme which means the dogs stay in the loving homes of volunteer members until they are ready for adoption. The fees vary depending on the age, health condition, and breed of the dog. In applying in SCPR, make sure to read about their guidelines in adopting and submit a detailed application. Another thing that can help you significantly with your dog hunt is reading our ultimate dog adoption guide. Please consult the adoption organization for details on a specific pet. They are generally very friendly and are an ideal best friend. Labradoodles are very playful and have a high energy level. Long walks, hiking or jogging will definitely be a part of your future life as dog-parent to a Labradoodle. These dogs tend to do well with children in the home, but sometimes are better suited for older kids since they could knock smaller family members over with their size and exuberance. Are you looking for a dog park buddy? The Labradoodle could be the perfect match for you! They usually like to play with other dogs, so a good romp with some canine friends is ideal for them, with proper oversight and introductions. They would be a good choice if you have other pets in the home, given their general good nature. Still, cautious introductions of new pets are always a must! Labradoodles usually want to please their parents, so can be easily trained with positive methods. Upkeep Labradoodles have a lot of energy to burn! You should expect to dedicate at least minutes per day to giving your Labradoodle an outlet for their energy, whether in the form of a structured walk, playing in the yard with them, training, or a trip to the dog park to socialize. Their enthusiasm could easily turn to destructive behavior if not given this outlet. They would do best in a home with a fenced yard, so this energetic dog may not be the best option if you have a low-energy apartment life. Grooming needs will vary, depending on whether your Labradoodle inherits smoother or curlier fur from the Labrador and Poodle breeds. You can expect to devote some time each week to regular brushing and bathing, but some may require a trip to a professional groomer every weeks. What people love most are their incredibly cute looks and dazzling personality. They are like big cuddly teddy bears with their wavy soft fur, big round brown eyes and dark noses. As soon as you see one you will want to cuddle. Cebu City boxer Philippines. Prevalence: Common Boxers are stocky, muscular and powerful. Males grow to about 25 inches and weigh from about 65 to 80 pounds 30 to 36 kilograms ; females grow from about 21 to 25 inches and weigh from about 50 to 65 pounds 22 to 30 kilograms. Boxers have regal, distinctly shaped square heads. Their jaw is undershot and the muzzle blunt. They have a broad, deep chest and a relatively short, strong back. Boxer's ears fold over naturally, but traditionally, their ears have been cropped to stand erect. Their tails generally are docked and carried high. Their feet are compact and the toes are arched. The boxer's coat is short and sheds moderately. Some boxers are a rich, fawn color and others are brindle. Their face or mask is usually black, but many have white face markings and white on the chest and paws. Personality: Boxers are intelligent, high-energy, playful dogs that like to stay busy. Their temperament reflects their breeding. They prefer to be in the company of their owners and are loyal pets that will fiercely guard their family and home against strangers. Few boxers bark excessively. If a boxer barks, chances are there is a good reason. Many boxers are vocal, however, and make a growling noise that's really just the dog's way of talking. Living With: The boxer has a high need for companionship and exercise. If these needs are not met, boxers can be destructive if left alone in the house. Boxers are ideal for people who want a canine companion with them most of the time or for larger busy families with homes that are often occupied by someone. They can do well on a country estate or in a city apartment as long as they have the opportunity to romp and expel energy. If you live in an urban area, regular walks are necessary. Boxers are intolerant of hot weather, and care must be taken to prevent them from getting overheated. They also need protection from the cold since they are short-coated. Their coats, however, are very easy to care for and will be shiny and bright as long as they have a good diet, are bathed occasionally, and are given regular rub-downs with a grooming mitt or brushings with a rubber curry. Some boxers drool excessively, and some snort and snore. Like other larger dogs, boxers are not particularly long-lived. Their life expectancy ranges from about seven to 10 years. History: Boxers are descendants of extinct bullenbaiser breeds crossed with mastiff, bulldog and possibly Great Dane and even a terrier. They were developed in Germany in the 19th century, initially as bull baiting dogs and later as butcher's helpers, controlling cattle in slaughterhouses. Some breed historians say boxers are named from the German word boxl, their slaughterhouse designation. Other fanciers contend the name boxer comes from the characteristic way that they use their forepaws to play, sparring much like a human boxer. After the breed rose to become among the most popular in America. Boxers are considered working dogs. They were one of the first breeds employed as a police dog, and they have been used as seeing-eye dogs. But they are also bred to be companion and guard dogs, perhaps best known for being loyal family pets that are especially fond of children. Related Pet Care Articles.
