Field Labradors california chocolate labrador puppies Due to the many challenges at great distances, these dogs need to be fast, agile, and SMART. They are bred to compete in Field Trials. These are events where up to four birds, one at a time, are thrown and shot before the dog is released to retrieve. Many retrieves exceed yards, some of which are long challenging water retrieves. In addition, the trial includes blind retrieves that require precise handling to keep the dog in a straight line to the hidden bird at distances of up to , sometimes yards. On a blind retrieve, the dog must not break into a hunt, but rely on hand signals and whistle blows to find the downed bird. Because of the complexity and difficulty of these trials, breeding dogs must have great marking ability, athleticism, intelligence, retrieving desire and be excellent water dogs. As a result, these dogs are often leaner built, with long legs and a lot of energy, but completely trainable, owing to their quite amazing intellect. At yards out, what are you shooting the bird with, anyway? This idea lead to the development of the hunt tests. The hunt tests put greater emphasis on steadiness and honoring which are important for a good duck dog. The marks and blinds were also decreased to realistic distances which do not exceed yards Hunting Labradors Also, dogs that "hunt" on blind marks are not usually judged harshly. As these Labs are generally owned by people who may only hunt about 30 days a year, these dogs spend the rest of their days as a family dog. Therefore, Hunting Labrador breeders breed dogs for hunting ability, a calm demeanor, good looks, and intelligence. The resulting dogs are stockier than the Field trial Labs, but not as heavy as the Show Labradors. They also sport a moderately blocky head, with legs in proportion to their body, and a disposition that will allow them to hunt in the morning, then lie down in front of the fireplace at night. These qualities have caused many to term the Hunting Lab as the "classic" Labrador. Because for generations and generations, these dogs have been bred with only one thing in mind - appearance. There can be various tri-color patterns with colors like black, brown, tan, rust, apricot, red, white, and cream. Additionally, keep in mind that not all puppies in the same litter inherit the same coat colors. As with any Doodle, combining two different breeds gives us endless possibilities. Like many other Doodles, Bernedoodles often carry the fading gene , which is usually inherited from the Poodle side of their lineage. This typically occurs anywhere from 6 to 10 months of age. The fading, also called clearing, is most noticeable in darker colored Bernedoodles who have blacks and browns in their coat. Black Bernedoodles with the fading gene often change into silver, gray, or bluish tones. Chocolate or brown Bernedoodles can turn silver, cream, or silver beige over time. However, merle Bernedoodles might be at a slightly higher risk of certain health problems, such as deafness or blindness. To be fair, it all comes down to your preferences and which colors you like. However, we do recommend you choose your new family member based on their health and temperament, not for their looks only. Brushing your Bernedoodle twice a week will make shedding less noticeable. Bernedoodles need to be brushed at least once a week to prevent mating. It is necessary to have your Bernedoodle clipped every few months, you can do this yourself or have a professional do it. What size is a Bernedoodle? Bernedoodles come in different sizes just like the poodle. They come in standard, mini, and micro mini. Standard: These range in size from pounds inches at the shoulder. For two weeks after the fluffy arrivals Si and I share sleeping next to the mother dog and puppies. We find we have enough sleep for ourselves by doing this shiftwork for the first 14 days and it means no puppy is unsupported. Our young adult, teenager and preschool sons also spend cuddle time with the puppies so your furbaby gets lots of learning time with men, children and their friends at the age appropriate time for your puppy. We develop a close bond with each fluffy puppy from the moment they are birthed and I assist with the delivery. Birth support means that each puppy feeds straight after being born to give them the necessary colostrum for health. Immediate feeding helps reduce stress hormones in your puppy. A human trust bond give them an attached confidence which is a caring start to life. Breeding one litter of newborns at a time with due dates far enough apart that none of the female dogs have pressure of the early neurological stimulation being overlooked. It gives a head start to your puppy which helps your puppy thrive. Bellawai, Golden Retriever pups are introduced to open crate training from three weeks old. This helps them feel safe in a den environment. I follow with closed crate training from 5 weeks old with some of their siblings. At 7 weeks they learn to have short periods of time in their crate without their littermates and practise this until they go to you at 8 weeks old. Voice marker training and Click training begins when your puppy is six weeks old. Your puppy learns to sit, touch and recall. We share the same words suggested to you to use so that puppy is familiar with the force free praise that encourages them to want to obey. Prior to your puppy leaving Bellawai you will have emailed to you 3 training videos to help with the basic training of your puppy using force free techniques. These videos are of our stud dog Vincent as a puppy and present with some of our puppies from a previous litter.
