The Beabull: the good and the bad What is a Beabull dog? The Beabull is the cross between the English Bulldog and the Beagle , two of the most popular breeds today. The Bulldog and Beagle mix is becoming just as well-known among pet owners because of its even temperament. Beabulls are kid-friendly dogs , showing patience and affection even with the youngest children. Bulldog-Beagle hybrids are also playful and eager to please due to their Beagle parentage. Beagle and Bulldog mixes are companion dogs that are extremely devoted to their families. The crossbreed is adaptable to a wide variety of living situations; a Bulldog-Beagle will be as happy in an apartment as in a house with a backyard. Whether your family is highly active or laid-back, a Beagle and Bulldog cross will fit right in. What does a Beabull look like? Since neither the Bulldog nor the Beagle is particularly large, you can expect the Bulldog and Beagle mix to be a small dog as well. These pint-sized dogs are most likely bred from mini or teacup English Bulldogs or so-called Pocket Beagles, which nowadays are simply Beagles that are smaller than the standard. Common coat colors for this crossbreed include white, brown, merle, speckled, brindle, golden, and spotted. What is the energy level of a Beabull? The Bulldog Beagle mix usually enjoys lazing around all day and will experience occasional bursts of energy. Is training a Beabull difficult? Beagle-Bulldog hybrids enjoy mentally stimulating tasks and challenges, so these dogs are generally easy to train. The Bulldog Beagle mix responds best to positive reinforcement, especially when its favorite food is used as a reward. This way, you can prevent problems with aggression as your dog grows up. Unfortunately, these nibbles can turn out to be quite painful, especially since most Beabulls inherit the strong jaws of their Bulldog parents. One way to discourage biting in your Beabull is to stop playing with the puppy as soon as it uses its mouth on your skin. You can also give your dog chew toys, so it learns to bite only appropriate objects. Howling Despite their docile nature, Bulldog-Beagle mixes tend to howl, a trait they get from the Beagle. Your Bulldog Beagle cross will usually howl out of boredom or separation anxiety. You can keep your Beagle-Bulldog mix occupied by taking it for a walk or playing fetch. Like with most dogs, certain health issues may affect the lifespan of a Bulldog Beagle mix. Many Beabulls suffer from brachycephaly , a shortened facial structure that causes breathing issues and other health problems. This condition is common among Bulldog breeds and their crosses. The Frug , a French Bulldog and Pug mix, for instance, is a brachycephalic breed as well. Due to this condition, most Beagle-Bulldog hybrids must be closely supervised during exercise and kept indoors during hot weather. Aside from brachycephaly, Bulldog Beagle mixes may be prone to digestion problems, hip dysplasia, and intervertebral disk disease. These crossbreeds may also inherit a predisposition to hypothyroidism and eye problems due to their Beagle parentage. No matter how much your dog may beg, keep its diet restricted to 3 to 4 cups of dog food every day. If your Beagle and Bulldog crossbreed has an underbite, put his food in a shallow, wide bowl. This will make it easier for your dog to eat. Grooming Most Beabulls are heavy shedders, especially in the spring and fall. During these seasons, you may need to brush your Beagle-Bulldog mix as much as 3 to 4 times a week to get rid of dead hair and keep its coat shiny. You can save some effort in removing loose hair from your Bulldog-and-Beagle mix by running a vacuum cleaner over its coat. Due to its heavy shedding, the Bulldog Beagle Mix is not a hypoallergenic breed. If you feel like your Beagle and Bulldog crossbreed is getting too dirty between baths, you can wipe over its coat with a damp cloth. Where can I find Beabull puppies for sale? Here are some Beabull breeders you can contact:. Size Life Span The exceptional personalities of both the Beagle and the English Bulldog are merged in the Beabull; a superb family dog and low-maintenance companion for even the novice dog owner. The two breeds, which make up the Beabull, were extremely popular in Europe and the U. When those qualities outgrew their usefulness in the 20th century, the Beabull offered a more modern and family-friendly alternative for this extraordinary gene pool. A Beabull that tends to be more mischievous and rambunctious with bursts of hyperactivity is likely to be more Beagle-dominant. Either way, the Beabull is a friendly, good-natured, and loyal family dog. They are very intelligent and very devoted companions. Your Beabull is likely to follow you wherever you go. Some Beabulls are very easygoing. Some Beabulls, who are especially Beagle-dominant, will have a comical quality about them. They are also very affectionate and might climb into your lap. Although they are known to have a stubborn streak, they are, generally, easily trained. Caution should be taken with a particularly clever Beabull, who will try to outsmart you for extra treats. The Beabull is a highly adaptable dog that does well in all kinds of environments. They are sporty as well as great house pets. They do well in most climates, but, as with any dog, do not typically do well in extreme hot or cold. They will adapt to apartment living or in the securely fenced-in yard of a house. They can keep up with an active family, but can also adapt to the lifestyle of a family, which is less active. Engagement and mental stimulation is key. As loyal members of the family, they do not like to be alone for long periods of time. This designer breed will inherit the particular health issues of both of its Beagle and English Bulldog ancestors. Asking your breeder about the genetic history of the parents and to see any health clearances can help allay potential health concerns. Like most highly intelligent breeds, the Beabull is most happy when she is mentally stimulated. A bored Beabull might try to create her own fun by getting into mischief. Owners who derive satisfaction from engaging in interesting activities with their dogs will find a perfect fit with the Beabull. Playtime with challenging games and toys can help keep your Beabull engaged. Beabulls can have a stubborn streak at times. So, they tend to be a better fit for more experienced owners. They can be a good fit for novice owners as long as obedience classes are part of the process. Beabulls can be noisy dogs, especially when emitting a powerful beagle howl. Owners with children are especially pleased to have this playful, devoted, and protective pet to engage with their kids. However, they can exhibit bursts of high-energy behavior and play-bite a bit too aggressively at times. Socialization and training early on can help curb any behaviors that might be unwanted once your Beabull is fully grown. However, they are heavy shedders and require frequent brushing just to collect their copious amounts of fur. You do only want to bathe as needed. Bathing too frequently can cause your Beabull to have dry skin. The ears of the Beabull require special attention. Because they have inherited the long, floppy ears of the Beagle, their ears are especially susceptible to infection. You will want to check these regularly to ensure they are dry and free of dirt. Their wrinkled skin should also be checked periodically for parasites and skin problems, to which they may also be especially vulnerable. Their nails should be trimmed monthly and their teeth brushed regularly as well. Young Beabulls have a ton of energy, but they can be trained to control their own enthusiasm. They are known to have sudden bursts of energy, which looks like hyperactivity. Some family playtime and daily walks with their favorite people are all that is required to keep them happy and healthy. They are able to amuse themselves in a securely fenced-in backyard. Beabulls are medium-sized dogs that can stand between 12 and 14 inches at the shoulder and can weigh between 30 and 50 pounds. Looking at the size of the parents will give you a better idea of what size to expect in your Beabull. A Beabull will generally live for years. Beabull Puppies for Sale. View Our Available Puppies! Your Golden Retriever puppy will go through a number of developmental stages throughout their first twelve weeks. Male Golden Retrievers generally weigh between 65 and 75 pounds and stand from 23 to 24 inches tall. Females are generally smaller weighing between 55 to 65 pounds, and will grow to stand .At 4 months, your Golden Retriever puppy will reach about half their adult height. When it comes to mental development, it can take even longer than that before the Golden Retriever is fully mature. However, every puppy is a unique individual, and these are merely milestone guidelines. Disparities exist between the working and show Goldens, as well as between males and females. Golden Retriever puppy growth can also be quite sporadic. As an overall average, many Golden Retriever puppies will weigh just approximately 1. Golden Retrievers are classified as a gundog breed, and these dogs are often divided into those bred for show and those meant for work. However, the body of the show Golden is typically larger, taller, heavy-boned, and fuller in the chest. Small Parents Like people, puppies inherit physical traits from their parents. And even puppies from the same litter can vary in size. Neither of these scenarios is healthy for a puppy. Larger breeds like the Golden Retriever are more at risk for growth disorders than small breed dogs. This article will give you a lot more information on how much to feed, what to feed, and how often to feed a Golden Retriever puppy. Illness and Puppy Growth If a puppy has been seriously ill for a prolonged period, it may affect their ability to grow normally. However, once the puppy is free of worms, they should continue to grow at a normal rate. The best way to determine if your puppy is too thin or too fat is by how he looks and feels. When looking at your puppy from above, he should have a noticeable waistline. Another way to tell is by putting your hands on either side of his ribcage. You should be able to feel his ribs using a gentle pressure. But if his ribs are visible, he could be underweight. Obesity is a huge problem for many dog breeds. Although there are ways to make your puppy grow bigger, this is not something you should attempt. It could also mean you end up with a fat puppy. One of the best ways to ensure your puppy has a long, healthy life is to ensure he stays at an optimal weight. Hip and elbow dysplasia and other musculoskeletal disorders are associated with excess weight in larger breeds. Having your dog neutered at a young age can also cause them to grow taller. The problem is, this can also cause abnormalities in joint formation. Neutering also makes Golden Retrievers more at risk for certain types of cancers. Typically it will take approximately 18 months for your Golden Retriever to become an adult dog. Even though they can reach their full height at anywhere from 9 to 12 months, it will usually take them longer to fill out to their full weight. Remember that there are wide variations in size within the Golden Retriever breed. If this is the case, you should contact your veterinarian to seek advice. Beginning the puppy development stages before birth Puppy development stages week by week Amazingly, in a way the puppy development stages begin before your dog is even born. Your puppy spends approximately 9 weeks developing inside his Mom. The mother dog has a womb or uterus, that has two long tubes, and the puppies grow in a row along each tube rather like peas in a pod. The puppies are joined to their mother by a placenta which provides all the nourishment they need for those few weeks. To begin with, the puppies have plenty of room to move but they grow fast and as the time for birth draws near they are packed in quite tightly. The one week old puppy Your puppy is born fully furred but with his eyes and ears closed so he cannot hear or see. His front feet are strong and he can pull himself towards his mother with them. He can cry if he is uncomfortable and his mother will respond to his cries by moving him towards her and licking him. Your puppy spends most of his time sleeping or suckling. He cannot regulate his own body temperature and needs his mother for heat, or an artificial heat source. In the first week to ten days of his life your puppy grows rapidly and will double his birth weight. His forelegs are getting much stronger. She licks the puppies bottoms to stimulate a bowel or bladder movement and eats the result. There is no cleaning up for the breeder to do yet. The breeder will begin to handle the puppies more though, and get them used to human contact. She will worm the puppies for the first time at the end of this week. Puppies begin to get their personalities. Your puppy can stand and sit up by the end of the week. Tails can be wagged, ears will be completely open and puppies start play growling and interacting with their littermates. Your puppy can regulate his body temperature more effectively and will start to cut his first teeth in preparation for weaning. The front teeth, canines and incisors are cut first. Toward the end of the week he may have his first tiny taste of puppy food. They also start to move away from the sleeping area to empty their bowels and bladder. They may try to climb out of the whelping box. If she lives indoors, she may rejoin the family for more of each day. Your puppy will cut his back teeth and the breeder will get weaning underway this week and by the end of it, your puppy will be getting quite a bit of his nourishment from puppy food. She will also worm the puppies a second time. If the mother is allowed near the puppies after she has been fed, she may regurgitate her dinner for them. This is completely natural and normal. He is a proper little dog. Rolling around with his brothers and sisters and playing with toys. Teething toys, puppy Kongs, balls and rope toys are big favorites with puppies. He can bark too and some puppies can be quite noisy at this age! He chases after his mother whenever she appears and suckles hungrily, but she is starting to get fed up with it, and may be reluctant to feed her brood for very long. His mother is teaching him not to bite too hard. If he lives in outdoor kennels he should spend part of each day indoors with the family. By the end of the sixth week, most are fully weaned, and eating five or six little meals of puppy food each day. Socialization must begin in earnest. He is now two months old and ready for his new life. It is the time during which they become fearful of anything unfamiliar and need to be thoroughly socialized. This is also the time during which most puppies get to grips with house-training, learning to wait before eliminating and start sleeping through the night without a potty break. It is a busy time for new puppy owners. Your puppy will have his vaccinations during this month. Biting can be a big problem during this stage and you need to be patient and consistent in order to teach the puppy not to hurt people when he plays. Provided you use force free methods, this is a great time to get puppy training under way, and especially to teach a puppy recall, and to get your puppy used to working with food. So, for a 2. You can do the same calculation for medium pups at sixteen weeks and large breed pups at 20 weeks — just divide his weight by his age in weeks before you multiply by .Medium to large pups will reach about half their adult height by the end of the month. If the weather is warm you can get your puppy swimming now. He should be able to come when he is called, in and around your home, provided there are not too many distractions. It all depends on what you have taught him. He may still be chewing a lot and biting too. Use frozen Kongs to help him and give your furniture and fingers a break. Puppies can go for short walks now. By the end of this month your puppy could have a twenty minute walk each day. He may also enjoy fetching a ball and playing with other dogs, but take care to stop before he gets very tired. Less dependence This is the month during which some puppies start to become less dependent on their humans for security. Keep your puppy close to you outdoors by changing direction frequently so that you puppy has to keep coming to find you. And engaging him in games. The foundations of a great recall are often build or spoilt during this month. If your puppy knows how to sit or lie down at home, start some simple proofing exercises with him in public places. A healthy puppy can usually manage on two meals a day from around six months. During this month a Retriever, Spaniel or GSD puppy will reach around two thirds of his adult weight. A Great Dane and other large breeds will have reached about half their final weight and little dogs will have almost completed their growth. Some female dogs will come on heat for the first time during this month, or the next, so keep an eye open now for swelling of her vulva and any discharge. Your dog will become increasingly confident over the next few months so practice, practice and practice that recall! Make it a habit he cannot break. And be generous with your rewards. Small breed pups may now be more or less mature. Your puppy will enjoy half hour off lead walks now, and should be able to walk on a loose lead for short periods with plenty of encouragement and rewards. Keep practicing that recall! These help to slow his growth further and to build his confidence. Make sure you practice good outdoor management on walks to maintain the good recall you have built and work hard on thoroughly proofing all his obedience skills. Read up on neutering before you take this important step, for dogs of either sex. Once your dog is a year old he can participate in more strenuous activities and sports. Now is the time to think about the kinds of activities you would like to do with him — go jogging together for example — and if necessary, to start to get him fit. For your new puppy to have a clean bill of health in the long-term, it is important to ensure that he hits all the growth milestones that are expected of this breed, especially in his formative years. But how can you tell whether or not your fur baby is on track? Unfortunately, the growth pattern of golden retrievers throughout different stages of puppyhood is so irregular that many dog parents often wonder if something is wrong with their puppies every time they notice minor physical changes. However, the good news is that while the growth pattern of each golden puppy is unique and different, they tend to go through similar growth stages and should be manifesting similar patterns. To help you make the most of your first moments with your Golden puppy, here are some of the necessary information and items that you need to know about your 6-month-old golden retriever. Generally, adult golden retrievers are intelligent, affectionate, and even-tempered. They are also playful, gentle with children, and get along with other pets and strangers. With an ever-smiling face, Goldens are known to make friends with nearly every person they meet. They are always eager to please owners, which probably explains why they respond perfectly to obedience training or why they make excellent service dogs. Golden retrievers are also exuberant and powerful dogs with lots of energy to spare. Your puppy will play with you, your children, other pets, and any new friend that he bumps into indiscriminately. This study by Duffy and Serpell also confirms that the behavior of a puppy by 6 months of age is a perfect indicator of their adult personality and temperament. Your puppy is highly likely to be more active and excitable than an adult golden retriever though, which makes early socialization very critical. A puppy that is exposed to different sights, sounds, people, and experiences will often grow up into a well-rounded dog. Like most dog breeds, golden retriever puppies are expected to hit varying weight goals as they age. So, how much should your 6 months old golden retriever puppy weigh? Well, if he is a girl, expect her to weigh between 29 and 72 lbs. Male Goldens tend to reach a higher overall weight, so expect your male puppy to weigh between 38 and 75 lbs. So, if your puppy is a working breed, expect his weight to be near the lower end of the mentioned weight ranges. Health: If your puppy is suffering from an underlying medical issue, his weight and natural growth may be compromised. Besides obesity, too much weight can leave your puppy with a host of health issues, including hip dysplasia, skeletal abnormalities, and osteochondrosis among others. At 6 months, your puppy may also manifest certain weird physical characteristics, including: Unusually long legs and tail Nose and ears may grow out Front legs may appear shorter than hind legs But all these growth irregularities are normal and will normalize soon. Being a high energy breed, your golden retriever puppy needs proper exercise to avoid health issues, hyperactivity, and behavioral issues. So, how much exercise should you expose your Golden puppy to at this age? Well, a good rule of thumb, according to U. This translates to 15 minutes of exercise for a 3-month old puppy and 30 minutes for a 6-month old puppy. We are talking about proper, structured exercise here—not just general play. Think of brisk walks on a leash, romping and rolling on the ground, gentle games of fetch, and tug of war. Introducing puzzle games and safe chew toys at this stage will also provide your puppy extra physical and mental stimulation. You should also be careful with your puppy over the next 6 months because it is the phase when he is most vulnerable to developing hip dysplasia. The short answer is: the distance he can cover in 30 minutes. Like exercise, the rule of thumb is about 5 minutes of walk for every month of age. If your puppy is used to an active lifestyle, for instance, he can handle well longer excursions. On the flip side, if he has never had an opportunity to exercise off-leash, he may not go far. The secret is to start off your puppy at a slower pace and increase the distance gradually. You can then increase it to 20 minutes walk at weeks. And by the time he is 6 months, he will comfortably do minutes walks albeit with plenty of breaks to keep him from tiring out. Other tips courtesy of the American Veterinary Medical Association that you can leverage to make the most out of your walks with your Golden Retriever puppy include: Ensure that you walk in a fenced area or areas that are far from motorists. If you are going to use a leash, allow your puppy to set the pace. If he tires out or gets bored and lies down, give him some time to rest. Avoid going too far from your home that you may need to push the puppy to keep him moving when he tires out. Start your puppy off with short walks, giving him plenty of opportunities to sniff around. As aforementioned, consider walking with your puppy on softer grounds. Long hikes over rough terrains are still potentially dangerous to your 6-month-old puppy. Increase the distances of your walks gradually Avoid taking your puppy for a walk during the coldest or hottest part of the day. If you are still confused, consult your vet. You could also talk with a local breeder or other golden retriever owners about their experiences with Golden puppies at 6 months of age. Most importantly, monitor your puppy for signs of fatigue as it could be a symptom of a more serious health problem as opposed to longer excursions. Golden Retrievers were bred to retrieve shot waterfowl ducks, geese, upland game birds , in their mouth by softly carrying them back to the owners. Accordingly, it is in their genes to use their mouths a little more compared to other breeds. If your puppy has a chewing or mouthing problem at this stage of his life, therefore, you should understand that it is something in his genes. Additionally, your puppy may be starting to understand and define his role within the pack at this age. As a result, he may start manifesting territorial behaviors. The good news is that they have soft mouths remember that they had to gently carry the retrieved birds to their owners , so when they bite you, it is usually soft and less painful—nothing more than simply putting their mouths on you. Besides, the adult teeth of most golden retriever puppies come in around 4 months old, so their mouthing tendencies will slow down by the time they are 6 months old. It could be still prevalent in some puppies though. Consider getting your 6-month-old golden retriever plenty of plush and chew toys so that he stops using your hands as chew toys. Related Posts:.

My love and passion for the Australian Labradoodle is not the result of an allergy issue. By chance I came into contact with this breed years ago. The Australian Labradoodle is a very people oriented dog. To give an example; I went with my puppy to puppy training and instead of playing with all the other puppies, my Labradoodle first went to greet the other dog owners. The other participants were amazed! My example above is one of the many examples I have of the Australian Labradoodles being a very intelligent, social and unique dog. These dogs have really stolen my heart. The Australian Labradoodle was originally ment to work as a therapy dog. For example making contact with autistic people, because they are so human-oriented and also seek eye contact. Because of their hypoallergenic coat they are a great alternative for people who are allergic to dogs. The Australian Labradoodle is a sensitive dog. Look in them in the eyes. That is why the Australian Labradoodle is not suitable for little companionship; they love good company around them. Attention, challenges like games and long walks are really necessary. They are certainly not kennel dogs. They need a loving home and lots of love from their owner s. If you think you can give your dog a loving home, lots of attention and exercise, than maybe the Australian Labradoodle is the perfect dog for you and your family. All Rights Reserved.

Bringing home your Pug puppy The most efficient way to raise a well-adjusted, well-mannered Pug is to expose them to everyday scenarios and experiences as soon as possible. The first experience your puppy will have is the car ride home. You should make sure the breeder will not feed your puppy right before the car ride home to avoid stomach upset or vomiting. As mentioned above having your Pug puppy secured in a car seat will be the safest option. This is because consistency goes a long way in training a well-behaved all rounded Pug dog. Now that you have gotten home, resist the urge to spoil and over indulge your Pug. You should start training your puppy early and refrain from excessive scolding, use positive reinforcements, and lots of praises. Potty training your Pug puppy takes patience the easiest way is to take your puppy outside every half hour or so and encourage them to go. Bringing them to the same area will help them quickly understand that this is their pee area. Always give them a treat as soon as they pee outside. Continue to do this, and then gradually drop the treats and use only praise. If you are training your Pug to go indoors on pee pads, just do the same as mentioned above. How long do Pug puppies sleep at night? Pug puppies can sleep anywhere from 12 to 18 hours per day, only waking up occasionally for an hour or so every few hours of rest. It is best to develop a nighttime routine. If you wake up your puppy to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you will develop this habit with your puppy. In adulthood your Pug might wake you up in the middle of the night and you want to avoid developing this habit if possible. It is best to establish a night time house training routine. Take your Pug puppy to the bathroom right before bedtime and immediately upon waking up. Puppy proof the outside of your home and garage Antifreeze taste sweet to your dog however can be lethal. Remove any rat poison or traps around your home. Fence off areas where there could be toxic plants such as wild mushrooms or any water sources like pools. Pugs are not good swimmers and most will sink. Make sure your backyard is safe and secure without any way for your Pug to get out of the fenced area. If needed fix loose fencing or holes prior to your Pug's arrival. Always watch your Pug puppy when going outside since puppies get bored easily. Once they are bored they will get destructive and exhibit bad behaviors such as digging holes throughout your backyard or chew patio furniture etc. Always keep your trash secure, and away from your Pug. Pugs are prone to obesity, watch their weight, give them lots of exercise. Regular check ups with the vet will help them stay healthy. Keep them under supervision at all times, and spend time with them especially in those first few weeks. Overview When you have a dog from the age of a young pup, this gives you a wonderful opportunity. It offers you a chance to bond with your dog from the very beginning. This also gives you an advantage because you will be able to train and teach your pup what they need to know before they learn any bad behavior from elsewhere. This section will discuss how to care for a Pug puppy, starting at 8 weeks old and up until he or she is an adult, at the age of 1 year. Transition to a New Home Things will run much smoother if you plan ahead and have most, if not all, of your puppy care items already in your home. Here are the most important items to have: A crate — One with an adjustable size is best to fit the needs of a growing Pug puppy. Crating is a good night time method to use until a pup is housebroken. Gates or a playpen — Choosing an area to gate off or using a canine playpen are good options for when you must leave your Pug puppy home alone or for when you cannot be right at his side. This keeps the pup in a controlled space which helps in regard to bathroom needs and keeping a puppy in one area when he or she has strong chewing urges. Puppy food — This should be obtained before the puppy is brought home. Owners will not always agree with the food that a puppy has been being fed, however any change should be done gradually. Have the food that the Pug has been used to eating on hand, as well as your new choice. Details regarding making this change can be found here: Feeding a Pug. You'll also want them to be sized appropriately and at floor level. Honey — Puppies are prone to the condition of hypoglycemia, which is a rapid and dangerous drop in blood sugar levels. Stress, among other things, can bring this on and while going to a new home is a happy event, it can also be stressful for a little pup that is leaving all that he knew and no longer has the companionship and friendship of his litter-mates. Treatment can be provided at home as plans are being made to bring the puppy to the closest animal hospital or veterinarian. A small dab of honey is rubbed onto the gums and then the puppy should receive professional treatment, sometimes an IV to restore sugar levels back to normal. Leash, collar and harness — Pugs are prone to conditions that involve breathing problems. The body structure of this breed confines breathing passages into a small space and Pugs can have smaller than normal nasal passages and openings stenotic nares. For this reason, using a harness can help a Pug breathe easier when on leash. A short 6 foot leash works best for both potty training and heeling. Read more : Choosing the Best Collar and Harness for a Pug Grooming supplies — The thick coat of a Pug sheds heavily and brushing it well and offering baths on a regular basis can help control shedding. Starting dental care at a young age can help a puppy become used to this grooming element and set up a foundation for a life time of good dental hygiene practices. Keeping the wrinkles, eyes and ears clean are important part of caring for a Pug puppy. Read more: Shedding - Expect your Pug to shed a lot and be prepared by having the right tools. Dental care - Taking care of your Pug's teeth should be high on your priority list. Ears - Expected shapes and proper care. Wrinkles - Keeping the wrinkles dry and clean. Sleeping supplies - Some owners prefer to have their puppy sleep in the bed with them and while this is not always a bad thing, an owner should think about how that will play out as the pup matures into a much larger adult dog. Having a pup get used to his own canine bed from the beginning, set up in a quiet corner of a room, may work out best. Do keep in mind that Pugs crave human companionship and do not like to feel isolated. Setting up the bed in a quiet corner of a well-used room allows a Pug to have a nice area to retreat to for rest and sleep while allowing him to be close to his human family. It will be normal for a little one to sleep anywhere from 16 to 18 hours a day. This included both night time sleep and naps that will be taken throughout the day. Chew Toys — Teething will begin around the age of 3 or 4 months old and can last up until a Pug puppy is 8 months old. Having a good supply of toys on hand for a puppy to chew on is important. Puppy Proofing Before bringing a puppy home and on a regular basis at least weekly owners are encouraged to go over all floors to remove any small objects that could be accidentally swallowed. All items that could be chewed on such as pocket books and shoes should be placed up high until the Pug has matured. Whining It is normal for very young puppies to cry when first brought to a new home, this usually only lasts for a week or so as the pup becomes used to his new family and environment. This can also be a sign of needing to go to the bathroom, so following house training guidelines, be sure to take your Pug puppy outside on a regular basis. Vaccinations for the Pug Puppy An important part of caring for your puppy will be to make sure he or she is up-to-date for all needed vaccinations. An 8-week-old should already have received his shots, as well as a de-worming. Veterinarians will have varying schedules, however this is a general guideline: 5 weeks Parvovirus: For puppies at high risk of exposure to parvo, some veterinarians recommend vaccinating at 5 weeks. Dogs at high risk are those that live in areas where wild life raccoon, skunk, deer, etc. The inclusion of either canine adenovirus-1 or adenovirus-2 in a vaccine will protect against both adenovirus cough and hepatitis; adenovirus-2 is highly preferred. You will want to talk to your veterinarian about this. Reactions to Vaccines Immunizations are intended to stimulate the immune system to then protect a dog against a specific infectious disease. It is very important to have your Pug receive all needed vaccinations. Your Pug may react to immunizations in ways that range from soreness at the site of injection to mild fever to allergic reactions. The allergic reactions can range from mild to severe. Mild- Mild reactions include fever, sluggishness, and loss of appetite. Mild reactions usually resolve without any treatment needed. This is called Urticaria. This happens when there is a reaction of the skin and shows as hives or bumps. It is usually extremely itchy. Urticaria may progress to anaphylaxis, which is considered life-threatening. However, Urticaria is the most common reaction in dogs if a reaction is to happen. Severe - The most severe reaction is anaphylaxis. This is a very fast, sudden, severe allergic response that causes breathing difficulties, collapse and possible death. This is very rare. Urticaria the moderate and most common reaction, if one is to occur happens soon after vaccination, often even before the puppy is brought home. It can happen in the car while you are driving back to your house. Your veterinarian will recommend immediate return to the hospital for treatment. Urticaria is usually treated successfully with injectable corticosteroids like dexamethasone or prednisone. Antihistamines do little to help with acute allergic reactions but may be given by injection to help prevent recurrence of symptoms after steroids wear off. Mild vaccination reactions usually require no treatment. However, if the symptoms persist for more than 24 hours, call your veterinarian. Growth Rate A Pug puppy grows quickly and this can happen gradually or with spurts and stops. Many Pug puppies have a growth spurt near the 3 to 5 month mark. As the pup nears the 1 year mark, growth will slow down. Once a Pug reaches his or her full height, there may still be some growth in the width of the Pug, as the chest widens and fills out. How a Pug ages and his growth is rapid, yet can be staggered during the first year. Getting Your Puppy Comfortable One of the most important parts of bringing a puppy home is allowing him or her to become used to their new surroundings. Allow your pup to roam around and check out his new environment. Be sure to keep a puppy's water in one designed spot so that the pup can know that it can always be found. The drinking and feeding area should be in a quite corner of a room, without much foot traffic or noise, since small puppies can feel vulnerable while eating. The absolute longest that a 2 month old pup can hold their needs is 2 hours. The bladder and bowel muscles are not yet fully developed. As they grow older, this time will increase as they have more control over their body. Usually it will increase by 1 hour for each month that goes by. Therefore, a 3 month old can hold on for about 3 hours, a 4 month old for about 4 hours and so on.With 8 hours being the maximum time for any age. Informational Note: When your 2 month old needs to go outside at least every 2 hours, be sure to not get stuck into that habit. It is important to slowly increase the time intervals. Your 3 month old can wait about 3 hours, but only if you allow the pup to use his bowel and bladder muscles to work and grow stronger. If an owner always brought their Pug outside every 2 hours, the dog would never learn to hold their needs for a longer period of time. Keep reading about the best way to house train a Pug puppy. All puppy vaccinations should be given before you take him or her out to the park, to pet supply stores or any other area in which there may have been or could be other animals. Many new owners already have another dog in the household. As your puppy grows older and is receiving the needed vaccinations, you can slowly begin introducing your new puppy to other dogs and allow normal socialization to begin. The Necessities of Care To have a healthy and happy puppy that will grow into a happy and healthy adult dog, make sure to always provide the essentials: A proper diet. You will need to decide if you want to offer manufacture food, home cooked food or a combination of both. Pugs are very sensitive to their human's emotions. A hug goes a long way! Field golden retrievers are utilised internationally in functional roles, including as service and assistance dogs, border patrol dogs for militaries, along with search and rescue and detector dogs roles for government agencies. Even with the intelligence to perform such functional roles, field goldens make beautiful family companions and house dogs. My goldens are more than happy spending time inside, sleeping on a couch or dog bed. To the best of my knowledge, I am the first field golden retriever breeder in Australia to breed a pure, fully imported field line of golden retriever. I believe from a functional working perspective, my goldens are as well bred as any in this country. The golden retriever was developed in Scotland in the s by Lord Tweedmouth as a gundog. The pre-requisites for a good gun dog including stability under pressure, namely gunfire, a gentle mouth, in order not to damage game, along with a will to please and ability to swim in freezing waters. These attributes are tested internationally including in retrieving trials in Australia, along with field trials in the UK, Scotland and Europe. Dogs that achieve championship certification in such trials have shown ability reflective of a quality gundog. My original field golden was imported in , with further genetic material imported to continue a pure USA field line of dogs. Trooper was titled as an outstanding sire for the quality progeny he produced in the USA. Trooper also have descendants used by the Swedish military. They are lively and friendly dogs that are very sociable. This is not surprising since both of their parents have these traits. They have been wormed with quality vet products at 2,4,6 and 8 weeks of age, there feed with high quality dog food and given formula to help maintain growth when smaller. They are eating and drinking on their own, but I would urge that all new owners purchase the same dog food all info provided initially as changing diets will cause diarrhoea and it can very extreme. Goldfuchs 97 highest score in protection. My name is Thomas Sauerhoefer. I am a breeder of German Shepherds since in Germany. I came to America ten years ago from Germany. My goals are to help people obtain higher quality dogs through my breeding program and importing services and to offer the highest quality dogs for Schutzhund, show, family, and companion. I grew up with dogs all my life. When I was 10 our family got a wonderful boxer, and when I turned 16 we got a Rottweiler named Arko. A close friend of the family took him for schutzhund training because we needed a protection dog for our company. My interest and fascination with the sport of schutzhund took off. At age 18, I bought my first dog, a German Shepherd. I had fallen in love with the breed for their looks and intelligence. I started my career in Schutzhund and Marysville dog training with Vasko, a German Shepherd with working bloodlines. After I got her titles and breed survey, I bred Banja to Vasko and had my first litter of pups. I kept a male pup from this breeding and named him Kim. I trained Kim to a SchH 3. I bred three more litters with Banja, always with good results. One of the best training helpers in Germany was a member of my club and saw my love for the sport and talent for training dogs. He taught me everything about Schutzhund helper work. By the time I was 24, I started training dogs for other people, both working and show lines, because they also saw my talent for training. Now I do Sacramento dog training and breeding. I have excellent contacts with my friends in Germany to help you get the exact dog you are looking for at a very fair price.
