The duration or timing indicates the portion of the cardiac cycle that the murmur occupies and not in which the murmur onsets. Murmurs may be systolic early systolic, mid-systolic, late systolic, or holosystolic , diastolic early diastolic, mid-diastolic, late diastolic, or holo-diastolic or continuous.
