boxer puppy weight at 3 months
They're from two well-natured loving pugs. The mum and dad are both my dogs which can be seen on viewing. They'll be coming with a wee starter pack of some small toys, bowl, puppy pads and wee collar which is for identification to not be used when older as they're best on harnesses. They'll be wormed, flea treated and their first injections before leaving. Also will come microchipped in my name till ready to go which will be discussed and details changed when they go. The second injection will be paid for by myself so these puppies will be ready to go when they're required for the next injection. The puppies will be registered at Vets and the injection will be paid to them. This is a very hard decision, which is far from easy as I'm a massive dog lover and would love to keep them all but having 2 already and struggling for space just now. I'd like them to go to homes which the person will keep in touch and show me they grow. Of course, this isn't a must but it would be great to be able to have someone who will keep in touch. I'd prefer the pups to go to a family setting where there will be plenty of cuddles and love. What pugs thrive on as their mum and dad love nothing more than a big fuss and a cuddle and a stroke. Though pugs can be stubborn so a little patience is needed. T he mum and dad are a great set of pugs who are well natured, they're great with children. They love being the centre of attention and love nothing more than a big fuss. The mum and dad will be there on viewing so can be seen and met when viewing. Due to covid 19 circumstances, all social distancing will apply. Gloves will be worn by myself and I'll leave a box for anyone wanting to handle the pups when seeing them. Dogs are for life so please take into consideration when viewing and taking pugs and working long hours can be a struggle. Good homes apply within. Thanks for reading if any questions please don't hesitate to ask. The price reflects ongoing rates. Plus all injections and starter packs included. Mum and Dad can be seen .The cookie is used to store the user consent for the cookies in the category "Analytics". The dog can be trained easily using positive reinforcement techniques such as clicker training which will bring out the best qualities in your dog while minimizing undesirable behavior like barking too much or chewing on furniture when left alone at home all day long during those busy days when you need both hands free rather than tied up holding onto an excited puppy's leash while walking him around outside so he doesn't run off into traffic haha Characteristics of the German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix The German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd mix is a cross between the German Shepherd and the Anatolian Shepherd. They also say that it's good for families with children, as it is gentle and kind. This mixed breed makes a great guard dog, watchdog, and companion animal. These dogs can be aggressive towards other dogs, especially if they do not know each other well. They may also be aggressive towards strangers who come into their home. If you have young children and are thinking about getting a German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix as a family pet, this might not be the best fit for your family either. Because these dogs have been bred to protect livestock from predators like wolves, bears and coyotes which are very large animals , they might be too protective of their own territory to allow small children access without supervision from an adult. A good quality dog food will have plenty of protein, fat, vitamins and minerals. They should not have to eat dog food as their only source of nutrition as this can make them overweight. German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix dogs need to be bathed regularly. This keeps the fur healthy and prevents matting, which can lead to a lot of pain for your pet and even infections if left unchecked! In addition to helping keep them clean, regular brushing conditions their skin with natural oils from their coat that makes it soft and shiny rather than dry or flaky which could result in itching. German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix puppies should be taken on long walks when they are just one year old and then gradually increased until they can walk for up to two miles per day by the time they are three years old. This breed has a high prey drive which means that it will chase anything that moves and also loves playing fetch! It's important that you give your German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix puppy plenty of exercise in order for them to grow into healthy adult dogs. This means they can be trained to do almost anything. The only thing you need to remember when training your German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix is patience and consistency. However, the grooming requirements for a German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix are fairly simple and straightforward. The best time to bath your dog is when they're shedding. Use a dog shampoo that is specially formulated for dogs, as it is less harsh on their skin and will not dry out their fur. This is a dog that is great for families. German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix are loyal, protective and good with kids. They also make great companions for other pets. If you are looking for a dog to mix in with your cat or another animal, this may be the perfect breed for you. These dogs are also good with children and other dogs as long as they have been socialized properly from a young age. Second, they need plenty of exercise. These dogs love to run but are not suited for apartment living because there is not enough room for them to run around freely inside the house. In addition, these dogs need regular grooming so that their coats do not become tangled or matted due to excessive shedding which can happen. Thirdly, German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mixes should never be left alone outdoors unsupervised because they will wander off in search of adventure if they are bored or lonely while you're gone from home all day at work! German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd mixes are not known for being barkers. They sometimes bark to alert their owner of a potential danger, but they do not tend to be noisy or aggressive. However, they can still be destructive if they don't get enough exercise or mental stimulation. They will also make a lot of noise if left alone for long periods of time without getting enough attention from their owners. German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix dogs are not aggressive. They are also intelligent and easy to train, which makes them a great family dog. It's an active, smart and loyal family pet that needs daily exercise, mental stimulation, and attention from its owners. As a working breed of dog, the German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix will require a lot of exercise to stay happy and healthy. They need at least 30 minutes of vigorous exercise each day as well as walks or playtime in the yard on occasion to keep them physically fit for life! If you're not able to give your pup the adequate amount of exercise they need then it will become destructive in different ways; chewing furniture or digging holes in your yard are just some examples! Training this breed can be difficult due to their stubborn nature but they're extremely intelligent so don't give up! Shedding is a natural process that all dogs go through. The amount of hair they shed depends on many factors, including their genetics and diet. A simple way to reduce shedding is by brushing your dog regularly. Brushing removes loose hair, which will then be removed from the fur before it falls out or gets stuck in the home environment. It will be able to learn new commands in no time at all. They love to walk, run, hike and jog with their owners. They are athletic and energetic, so they will get plenty of exercise on their daily walks. As a German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd mix, your new pet will most certainly be able to swim. In fact, they are known to be excellent swimmers, as well as being very good at learning how to swim! If you want your dog to get in the water with you, then teaching them how to swim is essential. This will not only make them more comfortable around water but it can also help with their overall health and wellbeing. They make good family pets, as well as indoor dogs. They are also great watchdogs due to their protective nature. Because the German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix is a loyal, affectionate and protective dog, this breed is not a good choice for people who are looking for a dog that can be left alone for long periods of time. The best option would be to bring another dog in the house so you do not feel lonely during your absence and at the same time, provide your dog with companionship. If you have children or simply want to have more family members in your home, this hybrid will enjoy their company very much! The German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix makes an excellent companion and playmate when it comes to caring for young kids or even older people who need special attention from time to time. German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix dogs are good house dogs. They do not require a lot of exercise and aren't very active indoors. They aren't very vocal and they don't require a lot of attention or affection. These qualities make them ideal for apartment living, as they will be happy lounging on the couch with you while you watch TV, or playing fetch in the backyard when it's nice out. German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd Mix are not hypoallergenic dogs. German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd mixes shed a lot and have a long hair coat which makes them more prone to shedding than most dogs. The coat of the German Shepherd Anatolian Shepherd mix is made up of two layers, an undercoat and guard hairs. They are loyal and loving, but can also be very protective in their own way. When properly trained, they make excellent guard dogs because of their size and temperament. Leave a comment. Even in Europe, however, they are still costly dogs due to their relative rarity and usefulness. The German Anatolian Shepherd is a rare mix, and those who want one will frequently get them purposefully bred. When you welcome a German Anatolian Shepherd into your home, you can expect to have a serious and territorial dog. They are gentle giants that need plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation to avoid boredom. Early socialization is more important than usual for this crossbreed. The German Anatolian Shepherd is a cross of two dogs well-known for being protective and territorial. They were bred to have these traits hundreds of years ago. In modern-day homes, this territorial behavior can come across as aggression and may not be useful anymore. If you want your German Anatolian Shepherd pup to get along well with other dogs or behave benignly when a neighbor comes over, training them through socialization as early in their lives as possible is essential. German Anatolian Shepherds can trace their history past the Byzantine era. These dogs have been bred by two parents that can trace their lineage and usefulness all over the world. The German Shepherds were developed in Europe in the late s to act as herding and guarding animals over their flock. They have boundless energy bred into them. To understand the history of the Anatolian Shepherds, we must look to Turkey. Long before the country of Turkey was even established some say 6, years ago! They were crossed with similar dogs from this point to allow them to blend into the flock better and make them more effective protectors. German Shepherds were one of the first police dogs. As many of us know from Hollywood movies, German Shepherds are common dogs to see in the police force nowadays. Their breeding set them up well for this task because the Germans initially bred the most loyal, obedient, and responsive dogs. Before they even came to America, the Germans began to train them as police dogs. This assumption turned out to be true. By , the dogs had spread throughout the force, placed as police dogs in more than of the largest cities. They have only continued to spread throughout the world, along with stories of their bravery and intelligence. Anatolian Shepherds are typically serious dogs that take seriously whatever job they are assigned. They usually are patient, gentle giants. Although they are not guaranteed to be aggressive with strangers, they are naturally territorial. That patience and gentility can quickly disappear with the arrival of newcomers. These dogs are independent and have powerful instincts that they strictly follow. The German Shepherd, on the other hand, can have personality types that range from independent to social, quickly severe, and irritated to excitable and jumpy. The best way to get a somewhat accurate idea about the temperament of your new pup is to talk to the breeder. Are These Dogs Good for Families? Although they can offer protection and a gentle spirit, they generally present too much of an unknown for busy family situations. If the desire for the dog is stuck firmly in your heart, just know that more care needs to be taken around these dogs, as well as extra training. In this breed, this is primarily down to the amount of socialization they receive. Socialization should also be a distinct layer of their training to shape the way they act toward new pets and people. Take care when introducing a new pet to the house, no matter the breed. Once they have chosen them as a friend, they will not have any other issues. The German Anatolian Shepherd is quite an active dog. If they have inherited more of the German Shepherd genes, they will want to be extremely active. Look for a dog food formulated especially for large dog breeds. Try also to find one made for high-energy dogs, which should have extra protein content. These dogs need around 4 cups of food a day. Keep variation in their diet, supplementing kibble with green beans, cooked rice, and sweet potatoes. They will thank you for it, as will their digestive and immune systems. The combination with the high-energy German Shepherd makes for a great deal of required activity each week. The recommendation is to keep these dogs in an area with a large yard to run in, to help burn some of that energy off. They need around two hours of consistent activity each day, making them great working farm dogs. Take them on long runs or walks, hikes, or to the dog park. It is recommended that they run, walk, or hike around 14 miles each week to keep healthy. One of the most important things to remember about Anatolian Shepherds and any of its crosses is that brain stimulation is just as important as physical. These dogs are not only intelligent but also prone to negative and destructive behavior if they get bored. German Shepherds are one of the most trainable dogs in the world, bred to be responsive. Anatolian Shepherds, though, are stubborn and independent. When training this dog, establish your dominance early on. Take care not to be aggressive or oppressive because this will only exacerbate issues with stubbornness. Although, it can be quite the chore when it comes to their grooming and shedding. They keep themselves clean, though, and only need bathing a couple of times a year. To deal with its coat, brush them out two to four times each week. This process removes the dead hair and prevents any tangling in the coat. Use a pin brush to detangle and a slicker brush, de-matter, and a comb to prevent as much shedding around the home as possible. As with any dog breed, watch their nails and trim them when needed. Since German Anatolian Shepherds can have floppy ears, they are somewhat prone to ear infections. Check their ears and clean them at least once a week to prevent any problems. The German Shepherd is known to suffer from many joint and heart problems as it ages. To try and avoid adopting a puppy with a bad health record, check the health of the parents with the breeder. Minor Conditions. Anatolian Shepherds are large dogs with an independent spirit, protective nature, and a working dog disposition. They are loyal to their families and are friendly, loving, and affectionate towards them. If an Anatolian Shepherd Mix takes after their Anatolian Shepherd parent, you should be able to expect something similar from them. Although Anatolian Shepherds are hardworking and tend to be natural guardians, they also tend to get along well with children and other animals that are part of the family. These dogs tend to have a calm and patient disposition and a friendly, loving personality towards their families. Their protective instincts mean that they are naturally suspicious of strangers. The Anatolian Shepherd is moderately adaptable and is better suited to a home with a securely fenced yard. They have a high prey drive, which means they also have an urge to chase in addition to wandering and patrolling their property. Unless the other parent breed has traits that would affect these things, you can likely expect something similar in an Anatolian Shepherd Mix. Are mixed-breed dogs healthier than their purebred counterparts? A mixed-breed dog can inherit any of the health conditions common to one, both, or neither of their parents. Because of that, you want to make sure you know about the other parent breed, so you know what potential things to be aware of. For the Anatolian Shepherd, potential health conditions include sensitivity to anesthesia, entropion, elbow dysplasia, and hip dysplasia. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing on issues to puppies. So, make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of both of the parents. Although Anatolian Shepherds are highly intelligent and pick up on things quickly, they also tend to be stubborn, independent, and strong-willed. This, paired with their hardworking nature and need to have a job, can be difficult for first-time dog owners to handle. The other parent breed may introduce traits that could make an Anatolian Shepherd Mix a better fit for first-time dog owners. But, again, this is not a guarantee. So, you should be prepared to enroll in puppy training classes. These classes can be a great idea regardless because they often offer opportunities to socialize a puppy. An Anatolian Shepherd Mix can inherit a coat similar to either of their parents or they can inherit one that is a blend of both. The grooming required will depend on the coat types of the parents and the potential combinations that are possible. Should an Anatolian Shepherd Mix inherit the Anatolian Shepherd coat, they will have a dense double coat. They will shed moderately with heavier shedding during seasonal changes. Weekly brushing, brushing more often during seasonal shifts, and bathing as needed are usually sufficient to care for this type of coat. But, many owners overlook dental care for dogs. This is why gum disease is one of the most common health issues in dogs. The Anatolian Shepherd needs daily walks, some time to run or extra activity, and a job to do to be happy and healthy. They tend to run a more moderate energy level and should only be let off-leash in secure areas. If the other parent breed is also a moderate energy dog breed, you should be able to expect a similar energy level in an Anatolian Shepherd Mix. If the other parent breed has a different energy level, you will want to make sure you are prepared for a dog that could fall anywhere in that potential range. An Anatolian Shepherd is large dog breed that is inches tall and pounds when fully-grown. You can also meet the mother dog in person to get an idea of potential size. Anatolian Shepherds tend to live years. The other parent breed may affect this slightly, but you should be able to expect a similar life span in an Anatolian Shepherd Mix. Featured Anatolian Shepherd Mix Article. German Anatolian Shepherds are large dogs with an independent streak and exceptional athleticism. Most registries group Kangals and Anatolian Shepherds under the same breed umbrella. No one would know for sure if the original breeders of the Anatolian German Shepherd sought a more independent herding dog for their flocks or a more trainable family pet. However, Anatolians Shepherds rose in demand with the enactment of the Endangered Species Act that suspended killing wolves and cougars that might threaten livestock. As Anatolian Shepherds grew more commonplace, it was probably only a matter of time before ranchers thought to outcross them with German Shepherds to create more manageable pets. Utilizing different breeds Similarly, shepherds using Alsatians could have infused Anatolian bloodlines to create a more formidable adversary against predators. German Shepherds trace their ancestors to two foundation sires, Hektor and his son Beowulf, and three major regions of Germany. Although probably around as a distinct type since the seventh century, the first-named German Shepherd Dog was Hektor in .He later became Horand von Grafrath. Strict guidelines under Max von Stephanitz dictated careful linebreeding and extensive culling to lead to one of the most versatile and valued of all working dogs. German Shepherds inspired their own working evaluation, known as Schutzhund, which is now the gold standard for quality obedience and skills in other breeds as well. Versatile working dogs German Shepherds excel in agility, search and rescue, narcotics and bomb detection , and physical assistance work. While the Shepherd is a relatively modern breed, the Anatolian Shepherd is ancient. Fossil remnants place large molosser-type dogs with livestock civilizations as early as 2, B. They descended from hunting dogs of a huge area called Mesopotamia, much of what is now Iraq and Kuwait, as well as a broad region around the Turkey-Syrian border and Southeastern Turkey. Historians believe Anatolia is the location most responsible for developing the breed into a fierce protector of sheep for nomadic herders. The Anatolian Plateau encompasses much of the vast peninsula of Turkey and is remarkable for its hot, dry summers and harsh frigid winters. The Anatolian Shepherd came to the U. The experiment failed because the Kangals overate, and the donated pair produced 12 puppies during wartime rations on food. The Anatolians made a more successful arrival in the s, took root as livestock guardians in the United States in the s, and joined the AKC in .They remain great livestock protectors in many countries and have found use in the Cheetah conservation efforts. German Shepherds have an uncommon ability to focus on a single task regardless of outside distractions, and Anatolian Shepherd Dogs are very serious as adults. However, the Anatolian Shepherd is no slacker either, not even given to games of fetch. Alaskan Husky owners attribute much of the work ethic their dogs display to previous outcrosses with Anatolian Shepherds. German Anatolian Shepherds are large dogs, 26 to 30 inches tall, and weighing 90 to pounds. Your puppy will most often be the common fawn color of the Anatolian with a black facial mask and the stereotypical white blaze that splits the face. Hybrids can also be white, brindle, red, or gray. Your German Anatolian will be physically impressive, giving you a sense of power and athleticism. What you will see in dogs such as Border Collies and German Shepherds is strengthening their instincts of pursuit. Therefore, you often must educate German Shepherds on who their flock involves. They protect those who belong to the flock and guard against strangers who do not. Depending on the dog, a German Shepherd may be openly hostile to unfamiliar people, animals, and children. A poorly-socialized GSD can be aggressive and bite without discrimination or be timid and fearful. Ideal German Shepherds are wary of strangers but polite with people you accept. Even in the show ring, judges allow a certain degree of aloofness but no aggression or belligerence and certainly no cowering. The Anatolian Shepherd is another fearless dog but not a herding breed. Anatolian Shepherds may have originated from hunting dogs, but like Great Danes have lost a lot of their prey drive through evolutionary use. The use of intimidation when guarding Developed for protecting livestock against predators and thieves, Anatolian Shepherds use a lot of body language in carrying out their duties. Programs across the globe from Australia to Africa to North America have been able to utilize Anatolian Shepherds to blend livestock welfare and conservation efforts. However, the Anatolian can carry out protective measures if necessary. They are speedy, agile, and powerful Your hybrid will most likely show reserve towards strangers but be accepting of everyone, including animals, who live in your house and on your property. Anatolian Shepherds guard alpacas and chickens as easily as sheep and cattle, so expect your horses and everything else to be well protected. Socialization is paramount, as for any dog, or your mix could be uncontrollably aggressive and destructive. Are Anatolian German Shepherds Dangerous? Anyone familiar with dogs knows any of them can be dangerous under certain conditions, regardless of what the media portrays. However, the reality is that certain breeds cause much more damage than others because of their power, size, and sometimes backgrounds. German Shepherds have a natural guarding instinct that, if combined with irresponsible training and poor breeding, can lead to serious bites and fatalities. Some locales have become motivated to ban owning German Shepherds, and insurance companies often also show prejudice against them. Anatolian Shepherds are usually protective without being aggressive. They can develop friendships with people in your social circle, but you cannot rush them. These Shepherds tend to be independent minded Moreover, Anatolian Shepherds determine who they like independently, and similarly to the Kuvasz, may never change their minds. Nevertheless, Kangals are steady-tempered and require a lot of provocation to bite. If you socialize your Anatolian German Shepherd, he will be slow to bite but probably not the warmest dog at his first meeting with an unfamiliar face. After all, is said and done, both Anatolian Shepherds and German Shepherds appear on various dangerous dogs lists that may restrict ownership and public exposure, and some places outright ban them. Bans usually are sure to list dogs under all their common names and specify that restrictions apply to all mixes involving the mentioned breeds. If you decide an Anatolian Shepherd German Shepherd mix is right for you, perform your due diligence and make sure your place of residence allows the dog with no restriction. With an ever-expanding list of objectionable dog breeds, you can safely assume a large dog will be on most prohibited policies for property rentals and insurance writers. Overwhelmingly, dogs like German Shepherds and Kangals earn a bad reputation by landing in the wrong hands of people inexperienced in dog training, unsure around forceful animals, or unknowledgeable about the breeds they have. The Fascinating Facts About Bite Force Bite force, the amount of pressure applied per square inch from the power of the jaws, has been grossly exaggerated for many dog breeds, namely the Pit Bull. Proclaimed to have jaws like a steel trap, Pit Bulls, in reality, do not have the strongest bite force, nor do they lock their jaws during and attack. Pit Bulls are only relevant here as a comparison tool. We talked briefly about the bite force of the Kangal, and here is a list of some of the fascinating animals mentioned earlier. The German Shepherd as you may have inferred from the name is a German breed. It was developed somewhere around the 18th Century. The main purpose of its birth was to make an efficient herding dog. The breed has evolved and developed to fit the needs of society numerous times over the past two centuries. The Anatolian Shepherd is the second parent. It is an even more ancient breed than the German Shepherd. The breed was birthed in Anatolia, Turkey. Here it was developed and primarily was used as a herding dog. The original purpose though is debated upon, and is believed that it was first used for hunting and fighting. The combination of these two amazing breeds led to an even more intriguing breed as the off-spring. Its disposition is that of a body guard too. It has long legs and a long muzzle. The eyes of the German Anatolian Shepherd are ever vigilant. Its coat is usually short length and straight. The paws of the German Anatolian Shepherd are padded. It has erect ears and a thin muzzle. The height range for the male German Anatolian Shepherd is usually 27 to 30 inches. The corresponding weight range is usually between to lbs. For females of the German Anatolian Shepherd breed, the height range is 26 to 29 inches and the weight range is 90 to lbs. Either way a Dog Training Book will help in diverting your efforts to fruitful efficiency. You should also rely on consistency to make things easier for both you and your buddy. We recommend giving the next section a thorough read to understand what determines its needs better. Thus it requires a dietary volume fit for its tummy. Normally four cups of a tasty Dog Food brand should be enough. If you are confused about what you should buy, then perhaps we can help you. The most that you will have to do is brush its coat two or may be three times every week. You will have to bathe the German Anatolian Shepherd after every month. Brushing its teeth is an activity that will have to be repeated every day or every other day, with Toothpaste for Dogs. Trimming its nails is an activity that must be repeated whenever you hear that distinct click sound when it walks. It will need at least two hours of daily exercise to remain healthy. We recommend taking the German Anatolian Shepherd to a park or any other recreational spot. It is precisely due to this apparent independence that we have to be more cautious about the health of the German Anatolian Shepherd. You will first of all have to keep the German Anatolian Shepherd engaged in its every day routine. If you neglect its routines, then it will get self-destructive. Apart from that, slightly connected to the previous point is keeping the German Anatolian Shepherd loved and appreciated. We both know that it deserves the love. Unfortunately that is not the case. The actual list of possible diseases is quite long. To keep the German Anatolian Shepherd safe and healthy, we recommend giving it a strongly monitored diet. You should also take your buddy for a weekly medical check-up to ensure the consistency of its health. Breeds Similar to German Anatolian Shepherd.

That is remarkable, and is because of the scores of people who were directly responsible in breeding and training Moose. To all of the Labrador Breeders that for decades have stayed true to the English Labrador breed, we say thank you! Gene Wolfenbarger. We have AKC English Lab puppies for sale Our goal here at Winter Valley Labs is to breed excellent dual purpose AKC Labrador Retriever puppies that make great companions and family pets, that also have the ability to excel in the field as well as show ring. And of course, in our hearts. We breed for quality, not quantity. We breed English Lab puppies! Each of our litters is carefully planed and bred with purpose. We are a small breeder in Hatley, Wisconsin. Our love and passion for Labrador Retrievers drives us to better the breed and provide families with healthy, happy, perfect pets, companions and hunters. We have been breeding labs for over 10 years, and look forward to that number growing. We bred our first litter in January of .We hope to grow in size now that we have the room for it. We love to take the dogs out bird hunting, and am excited to get them started on waterfowl this year as we are located on the river. I have been around dogs my whole life, but the lab has always been my favorite. I started studying at the UW of Stevens Point for Wildlife Ecology and Captive Wildlife management, and had done some study in veterinarian medicine but complications with pregnancy forced me out. I decided after my first son was born that I wanted to stay at home with my babies anyways both human and canine. So I am now a stay at home mom for all of our babies. Prior to that I had worked at an animal shelter as well as a grooming and boarding facility. I am doing some online studies for genetics and animal behavior, as I am always striving to be very well educated with the dogs. I am an avid hunter and LOVE spending the days outside with the dogs. Please note; We do not breed silvers, charcoals or champagne. We do not breed labradoodles, golden labs or any other designer breed. We do have English lab puppies for sale- We breed Fox red lab puppies, yellow lab puppies, black lab puppies, chocolate lab puppies and white lab puppies. Fox red and white labs are registered as yellow labs! These ARE akc recognized unlike the dilute colors. Click here to see what english lab puppies we have that are ready to go and looking for their loving forever homes! Our focus is on the English Lab breed. Please contact us for more information on any of our wonderful English Lab puppies, or upcoming and planned litters! We will help you find the perfect puppy for your family! All of our English Lab puppies are vet checked with the vaccines that are needed and also wormed. They also have their dewclaws removed. If in any case a dew claw, or partial dew claw grows back, that will be the buyers responsibility to take care of, if they feel the need to do so. This can be done at the time of spaying or neutering. This is not a common thing. All of our English Lab Puppies are placed with limited registration Pet homes only If you are looking for full registration Breeding rights Do not wait until pickup day to discuss this with us. Very affectionate and loving and we are seeking equallyGreat defender. Don't miss out on this fella! No puppy pains here! Then add all of this and you've found a wonderful friend: Tony is well behaved in the house, he's fun to be around, he can be left alone and trusted while youre gone, he's affectionate, sweet, smart, adorable, and obedient. Tony is the BEST! And those eyes--they're like a tiger! It's like a little cloud of heaven even though he is a short-haired dog. He is so cuddly that it is almost therapeutic to be around this sweet guy. This big boy loves to give kisses and I think he would simply smother you with love if he could. Extremely affectionate, this boy is definitely a people-oriented dog, though he loves to be around other dogs too. He is an extremely happy dog, always excited to see and greet you! This big boy is super calm inside, and when he is outside LOVES to swim if there is a pool or a pond around! He is definitely a water puppy! This big guy also does a good job of sleeping by your bed, waiting patiently until morning. And he is not a "barky" dog. About this baby's History: He was found in a subdivision, abandoned, in Texas. Everyone that met him loved him and he was taken in by a number of families while they searched for his owners, until finally he was taken on by the EKC Rescue. Tony has spent the last month in foster care, ensuring he has a clean bill of health, and learning as much as we can about him so we can place him in the perfect home! About this baby's ideal home: This fella is great with other dogs. He does well with both smaller and larger breeds. But when introducing him to new dogs at home, its important to do the process slowly as he has given some warning growls to some dogs before. He is strongly expected to do well with cats but he has never officially been around one. It is a possibility that he will jump on smaller children, so plan to put in some training if you have young ones. BUT I believe he will do very well with children invading his space as they can often do like pulling or tugging on him. Tony can get a little excited whenever voices are raised or whenever he sees his humans, so he would ideally have a calm mom or dad that can be patient and guide him in the right direction until he calms down. Because of this angel's size, he would do perfect with a family that wouldn't mind have a big beautiful boy running around.Though he has only ever jumped up on someone once, he may need some more guidance in that area. He really is so sweet, calm, quiet whenever he is inside that you forget he's not a little dog! Tony is neutered, up to date on shots, free of all intestinal parasites, and currently taking preventive heartworm and flea and tick. He is ready to go! Our mission is clear: to breed exceptional West German Shepherd puppies that excel in temperament, conformation, and overall health. We draw our lineage from VA and V rated dogs, ensuring that our puppies inherit the finest qualities available. GANA is an organization that maintains a registry of the lineage of the dog breeds and the membership of breeders who agree to the Code of Ethics and provide proof of health clearances achieved regarding their breeding practices. Health Checkups for Puppies Ensure that the breeder provides a nose-to-tail health check for the puppy as well as a health guarantee option. Breeders must test for hips, knees, elbows, eye issues, blood disorders, heart, and thyroid problems in their Goldendoodles. These are processes that introduce mild stresses to the puppy to stimulate the neurological system and improve the growth of the immune system and cardiovascular system to increase their ability to tolerate stress. Health Checkups and Breeding Programs for Parent Dogs The breeder should have ensured that the parent Goldendoodle dogs have undergone health checks and breeding programs based on temperamental, personality, and health concerns. Meet the Goldendoodle Parents While you are at the breeder facility, meet the parent Goldendoodles if possible and check their living conditions. If possible, after taking in the Goldendoodle, ask if you can have your pet visit its parents in the facility from time to time. Goldendoodles are mixed breeds. Check for how long the breeder has been breeding the dogs and look at the genetic chart of their Goldendoodle breed. Check for the reputation and reviews for the breeder. Most good breeders will have a long waiting list. Good breeders expose the pups to family environments and household equipment. A responsible breeder will interview the buyer before selling. Welcome back programs by breeders are a good indication. Good breeders share medical, vaccine records, and health test certifications. How to Avoid Bad Breeders Goldendoodles are in great demand, attracting illegal breeders who are out to make profits without caring for the animals or the buyer. The Goldendoodle originated in the s in North America and Australia, although it was first bred in .The idea was to create a breed with the great temperament of the family-friendly Golden Retriever along with the intelligence of the Poodle. The presence of the Poodle makes a highly trainable canine, and the Golden Retriever always aims to please. Just be cautious with stern discipline tactics, as the Goldendoodle may have a hard time letting training failure roll off its back. Always train with a positive energy using lots of reinforcement with any breed. While the Goldendoodle is somewhat hypoallergenic, every allergic person should meet the puppy before adopting to ensure that they show no symptoms. The Goldendoodle is bred to be a family dog. The combination of the gentle Golden Retriever and the highly intelligent Poodle make a wonderful companion. The breed is generally tolerant, playful, and full of personality from day one. The Goldendoodle is pretty easy to keep happy. Their coats are good protection in the winter months, while they are fairly tolerant to warmer seasons. Just be aware that no pet should be exposed to temperature extremes, either hot or cold. If you have a small apartment, the Goldendoodle may not be the dog breed for you. It is recommended that this breed has room to move and unwind, as they are very energetic. The Goldendoodle is a generally healthy Designer Dog Breed. One thing to look for is the hip health of the Golden Retriever and Poodle parents. Both breeds are susceptible to hip dysplasia, so knowing the hip history of the parents is important. Because of the high trainability of the Goldendoodle, it is not uncommon to see a first-time dog parent choose this breed. That means that grooming the Goldendoodle is not a difficult or time-consuming task. Give the coat a brush each day, clip the nails once a month, and brush their teeth once a week. Bathe the Goldendoodle when needed, but be careful not to over bathe this breed. The Goldendoodle will require lots of blow drying after a bath, and too many baths will rob them of essential oils that help the dog have a healthy coat and skin. Energetic and jovial is the best way to describe the Goldendoodle. Plenty of playtime and exercise is needed to have a well-balanced canine companion. A fenced in yard to romp around or regular trips to the dog park are highly recommended. A fully-grown Goldendoodle should be between inches in height at the shoulder and weigh between 40 and 90 pounds. Size is greatly determined by the size of the parents. Goldendoodles generally live years. A Goldendoodle is also sometimes referred to as a Groodle. Featured Goldendoodle Article. Life Span Did You Know? Although this breed is very popular, it is not currently recognized by the American Kennel Club. As long as they are well-socialized, Miniature Goldendoodles tend to make excellent family companions. They tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. Although they will alert you of strangers at the door, they tend to warm up quickly as they are more interested in making friends and receiving attention. Mini Goldendoodles are highly adaptable dogs. Their smaller size makes them a great fit for apartment living or for bigger homes with yards where they can run. As long as they get enough daily exercise, mental stimulation, and attention, they can adapt well. These little dogs tend to do well in just about any climate. However, like any dog, they are sensitive to heat. Due to their smaller size, you may need to gear up with some dog-friendly winter gear when temperatures start falling. Because this dog breed is loyal and people-oriented, they love to be in your company and do not like being left alone for long periods of time. This means they can be prone to developing separation anxiety if you do not work with them on it early on. Instead, make sure your new Mini Goldendoodle puppy has an active role in your life. If you do need to leave them alone for a bit, make sure they have some comforting toys or challenging puzzles to keep them from getting bored. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. Make sure you are asking about the health and genetic history of the parents. You can also ask about any health tests and clearances that have been done. The Mini Goldendoodles is a highly intelligent dog that picks up on things quickly and is eager to please. They tend to be sensitive to tone of voice as well. As long as training is consistent and focused on positive praise and reward, a Mini Goldendoodle will strive to be obedient and impress you and tends to excel at almost any task. These traits make the Mini Goldendoodle one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners and a good fit for owners of all experience levels. Daily brushing is recommended to remove tangles and prevent mats. Bathing is occasional and can often be relegated to the dog groomer that is recommended you visit every weeks. The groomer can help handle some of this during visits, but you will still need to do some maintenance at home between visits. Nail trims once or twice monthly keep nails from growing too long. Weekly ear checks with careful cleanings as needed help prevent ear infections. Daily brushing, plus cleanings at the vet as needed, is good dental care for dogs and can help prevent painful dental diseases later in life. Although the parents of this breed have a lot of energy, a Mini Goldendoodle tends to sit in a more moderate activity range. Daily walks plus some playtime and time to run are usually enough for them. But, they are also likely to match their energy level to yours, so be prepared for some bursts of energy as well as plenty of cuddling on the couch. Fully-grown Mini Goldendoodles usually stand inches tall at the shoulder. A Miniature Goldendoodle puppy can vary in size based on the generation of the dog. The result is generally a dog that will range from pounds. Looking at the size of the parents for an F1 or F1-B puppy can be a good indication of what size to expect in a fully-grown Miniature Goldendoodle. Mini Goldendoodles generally live for years on average. Featured Mini Goldendoodle Article.

She hoped to combine the amiability of the Retriever, along with the warm temperament of the Poodle. As a result, today, we have this energetic doodle who can be a wonderful family dog. Initially, they were bred with the intention of training them as guide dogs or therapy dogs. But around the late s, their joyful and gentle nature made them very popular as home pets. Types Of Labradoodle Since the Labradoodle is not an independent breed, there can be certain inconsistencies in temperament or appearance. So, their sizes can vary depending on the size of the parent Poodle. On the other hand, the parent Labrador Retriever determines the type of coat for the Labradoodle pup. The fur type can be unpredictable due to this and can vary from soft to woolly or wiry. In addition, they can also belong to four categories of breeding. People generally prefer the generation having more hereditary Poodle qualities. The dominant Poodle trait typically makes them hypoallergenic or non-shedding. Therefore, it would be beneficial to acquaint yourselves with the different types of breeding categories before adopting Labradoodle puppies in New Jersey NJ. F1 Labradoodles The F1 breed is the healthiest as it is a first-generation cross between purebred Poodles and Labrador Retrievers. These puppies possess equally dominant traits of both their parent breeds. When purebred Poodles mate with a grown Labradoodle, F1B breeds of puppies are born. They, too, have equally dominant traits of both the Poodle and the Labrador Retriever. F3 Labradoodles F3 Labradoodle puppies are the least healthy breed, as it is a cross between two F2 Labradoodles. Such a multigenerational cross is typically a backcross between multiple generations of Poodle. Labradoodles are usually dogs with high energy. Regardless of their sizes, they are not well-suited to living in small-sized apartments. They can be high-spirited jumpers and are in need of constant mental and physical stimulation to thrive. Not that you need additional solid reasons to get yourselves a furry companion. But when it comes to Labradoodle puppies, there are reasons to convince you to adopt one. We have taken all these into consideration in our curated list of the five best Labradoodle breeders in New Jersey NJ. Comfort Companions Labradoodles are known to be highly affectionate and have an upbeat personality. They were initially bred to be therapy or guide dogs, so they are extra sensitive too. Picking up on human emotions or body language is natural to them. They are the type of dogs that will try to comfort and cuddle you if they detect you are feeling sad. You can also expect them to greet you at your door after a tedious day and make you feel better with just their energy. Having a Labradoodle would mean that you will always be moving and on your toes. So, you will hardly have to feel lonely. Trainability Labradoodles are known to be pretty easy to train. They derive the intelligence traits from two very smart dog breeds, the Poodle and the Labrador Retriever. The combined genetics, therefore, makes the Labradoodle a super-dog in terms of intelligence. On the other hand, their nature makes them eager to please anyone. As a result, they will pick up all the tricks that you teach them very swiftly! Final Words It is not without reason that Labradoodle pups are such a sought-after breed for family pets. Their affectionate nature, gentle temperament, and adorable appearance will be sure to turn heads during walks at the dog park. Labradoodles can be the most amazing pets. Dog Food: Every dog needs to eat correctly, and finding the best food for your dog can be challenging, as the market is absolutely flooded with products. This breeder has been producing high-quality Doodle puppies since .The focus here is on socializing the puppies and educating potential owners so that the transition from the breeder to your home is as seamless and smooth as possible. The parent dogs are DNA tested to rule out any genetic diseases, and the puppies are all health checked by a vet before leaving for their new homes. But how do you sort the best breeders from the not-so-good? Website If the breeder has a website, look to see if they have legitimate contact details, including a telephone contact number and an email address. Some breeders ask you to contact them via an online form on their website, which is fine, too. Look closely at the website for obvious errors: Online scammers often copy and paste text and images from legitimate breeder sites. Often, photographs lifted from legitimate breeder sites are incorrectly captioned. Look closely at the photographs on breeder websites to see if there are watermarks on the images. That indicates that the pictures have been copied from sites such as Shutterstock. References and Testimonials Reputable breeders can provide you with genuine customer references and testimonials. So, always ask to see some before you commit to buying a puppy. Customer Vetting Responsible breeders will not sell puppies to random people online or through pet stores. Usually, you will be encouraged to visit the breeder to view the puppies and meet the parents. That also allows the breeder to meet you and make sure that you have the necessary experience and facilities to take one of their puppies. Breeding Kennels A responsible, ethical breeder will not keep their breeding dogs and puppies in cages or crowded places. All the dogs will live in clean, roomy, comfortable areas. How Many Puppies? Responsible Labradoodle breeders only produce a limited number of puppies each year. Also, good breeders usually specialize in one breed of dog rather than breeding many different types of puppies. So, if you want a Labradoodle, choose a breeder that only breeds different types of Doodles. Veterinary Records Good, ethical Labradoodle breeders will happily show you individual records of health screening and veterinary visits for your puppy and its parents. Contract A responsible breeder will expect you to sign a contract stating that you will have your puppy desexed as soon as he or she is old enough to have the operation. The contract will probably go further and state that you do not have breeding rights for your dog. Prices Check the price of the Labradoodles that the breeder is offering for sale. Guarantee Most good breeders offer health guarantees with their Labradoodles. The guarantee is usually for a period of one or two years and gives you redress to the breeder if your puppy develops congenital health problems during that time. As mentioned above, when it comes to buying a Labradoodle puppy, you get what you pay for. You can expect to wait a long time before you finally get your Labradoodle puppy! All good breeders have a waiting list for their pups, which can be anything from six months to two years! Breeder Mill Red Flags Breeder mills are more commonly called puppy mills or puppy farms. These operations produce vast numbers of puppies as cheaply as possible to make the largest profit. Unfortunately, that leads to substandard parent dogs being used in the breeding operation that are rarely health screened and are often kept in very poor conditions. The puppies produced by puppy farms are often of poor quality and can even have existing illnesses when they go to their new owner. Puppies produced by these backyard breeder mills are often sold for cheaper prices than those bred by reputable breeders, catching out many unwary buyers. Here are some top tips to help you avoid being duped by a puppy farm. Many Different Breeds Most reputable breeders specialize in one or two breeds. If you see an advert for multiple breeds, check out similar ads. If the same breeder is advertising lots of different breeds, they could be a puppy mill. Never pay for a puppy without seeing the animal first. Puppies are generally eight weeks of age before they can have their first vaccinations. If an ad states that the pups are less than eight weeks old and have been vaccinated, that could indicate a puppy farm. How Much? Puppy mills want to shift as many puppies as quickly as possible to exploit the current trend and generate maximum profits. To do that, they typically work on selling quantity rather than quality. Cheap puppies are usually from backyard breeders. Be Prepared To Wait Most reputable, ethical breeders will ask you to complete an application form and even be interviewed for your suitability to take one of their puppies. You will then be placed on a waiting list until a puppy becomes available. Health Certificates A good breeder can show you a clean, current health certificate for their parent breeding dogs, with proof of deworming, flea prevention treatment, and vaccination papers for the puppies. Contract Good breeders will ask you to sign a contract stating that you will not breed from your puppy without their permission. Meanwhile, if you decide to buy a puppy outside New Jersey, make sure that you check out our list of ethical breeders from neighboring states to avoid falling into the hands of puppy mills:. Found on the street, homeless, hungry, and maybe sick. Or worse dropped off by his family for being old or unwanted. Shivering in a cold strange place that smells of bleach and other dogs that overwhelm him. The endless barking day and night. Wondering what happened -- what did he do wrong to be put in such a place? What will happen? How many days until he feels the needle that takes him to sleep forever? Or, will he be one of the very few to be found by someone looking for a new family member or maybe a rescue that understands the need to help him. Do they know his breed and are they good at finding just the right home? Will he be lucky enough to be placed into a forever home where he will find that he has a new family to be a member of? Adoption fees are necessary; without fees our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. Office expenses add up as well. Rescue is an expensive undertaking, both financially and emotionally, and is motivated solely by our passion for German Shepherd Dogs. We are volunteers. We volunteer our time countless hours every day , and we are by no means wealthy. We do not make a profit and seldom break even. Adoption fees come in and go right back out to the next rescued dog. Instead they rely on their sense of hearing to know where their mom is and the other littermates. Week 3 The third week of life is a big week as major, physical development and progress are made during this week. The baby bulldogs should begin cracking their eyes open and begin developing their new found eyesight. Increased visibility adds a small level of independence that is certainly appreciate. The young puppies are now able to locate their mother and nurse more consistently on their own. During this week, we most often make the decision to leave the litter with their mother permanently. Mom will take on the responsibility of not only nursing the puppies but also cleaning up after them. This also means we are able to get a full night of sleep! What do we look for in a good Bulldog mother? Bulldog mom has to have a genetically clean pedigree history. We make sure each bulldog line that we produce has the best chance to stay healthy and happy. Bulldog mom has to have a great personality. We demand that all the bulldogs we own are extremely confident and great with both children and other pets. Breeding bulldogs with great personalities is very important as many social traits are passed from the parents to the baby. Bulldog mom has to have a great maternal instinct. Because the babies are so vulnerable we try to select and keep female English Bulldogs that show endearing and caring traits towards their babies. Week 4 Week four is our walking week! While bulldog puppies do begin to walk earlier at times, typically during week four we begin to see some major walking. The new found mobility is a joy to watch but does present some different types of responsibility as our bulldog puppies certainly can get themselves into trouble! During this week, we will start to perform some basic socialization steps to ensure that they are prepared for their new homes. Week 5 The puppies are now able to run, chew, and yes, sometimes bite! With the physical progress there are certainly ample teaching opportunities to develop these little guys into well behaving bulldogs. During this time we continue to analyze each puppy socially and develop unique, social profiles of each bully. The puppies start to focus less on physical survival and devote much of their time to playing with their littermates. This is a great learning environment for the puppies! This mushy treat quickly becomes a favorite for the pups. A robust bulldog puppy can now weigh around 5 pounds. The puppies will also undergo their first round of vet checks to ensure they are developing physically sound bodies. Socially, we continue work with the puppies to ensure they are exposed to the many different environments of the new homes they will be going to all while balancing a high level of biosecurity to ensure they are not exposed to harmful diseases to ensure for a healthy English Bulldog! The puppies are now old enough and confident enough in themselves to begin developing expectations. Being held and being fed are no longer special occasions rather they are rights to life that are demanded. We continue to provide the high level of care that we hold ourselves to while developing flexibility within each bulldog pup. Week 8 The theme for week 8 is adoption preparation. We will make a decision with our vet the age in which the bulldogs are able to be taken home. The primary variable within this decision is physical development. Most of our bulldogs will go home right around the end of week 9 all the way to week .It simply depends on the bulldog. At this point we encourage our adopters to finish prepping for their puppy. Erica and Mitch of Bruiser Bulldogs are just that. They are experienced, ethical and quality breeders. I was referred to them by my friend that I trust after I saw their gorgeous healthy puppy. Our Puppy Primrose is the light of our lives! Bruisers was there to assist us every step of the way. We would highly recommend Bruisers Bulldogs to anyone looking for their own happy, healthy pup! Leah H. We were lucky to have come across Bruiser Bulldogs and even more so the fact that they were near our family and hometown made it even better. We have had Clementine Callie for four months now, and she is a wonderful dog. Her personality is amazing, and I think part of it is breeding and the other part is Erika and her family lovingly raising the puppies in their home with plenty of attention and snuggles. I also was impressed that, rather than send the puppies out right at 8 weeks, Erika kept ours for a few extra weeks because she was tiny and not read to leave her mom yet. It's that care that differentiates Bruisers from other breeders. Emily R. Erica was easy to work with thru the entire process from application to adopting and now beyond as we host our new family member, Chief. Her on-call support and willingness to provide open, honest advice to all of our questions and concerns continues to be appreciated. We would highly recommend Bruiser Bulldogs to anyone looking for an English Bulldog to join their family. Elizabeth W. Lady L. They are experienced, responsive and knowledgeable about all things bulldog related. They went above and beyond for us and are truly dedicated to all of their pups! We love our little girl so much and would recommend Bruiser to anyone looking for a healthy beautiful bully. Jonathan E. Erica and Mitch are trustworthy, excellent communicators, fair, passionate, and produce the best bulldogs. We were at the top of the waiting list for months and Erica reached out every litter to see if we were finally ready for a bulldog. When we were, she was very easy to work with. Her knowledge on bulldogs is outstanding. We had many questions on the process and she always knew what was best for the puppy. We've had Penny formerly Blair for two months and she is very healthy, energetic, playful, and sweet. She is great with other people and dogs. We are so happy with our pup. When we are ready for bulldog 2, we will only consider Bruiser Bulldogs. Mitch C. Bowser was born April and is an integral part of our family. When we were first exploring English Bulldog breeders our biggest concern was the overall health of the dogs. We decided to work with Erica at Bruiser Bulldogs because we liked their focus on improving the breeds breathing abilities and the fact that the puppies are raised within her family environment before coming home with their new owners. Bowser also breaths clearly and our vet was impressed with his overall health from the moment we brought him home. All that said we know English Bulldogs have a predisposition to many health issues and that his current health can not predict the future. With that In mind its important to start with a breeder that open to answer any of your questions as Erica has ours, and that strongly believes in improving the breeds overall health profile. Adam B. My sister ended up finding Bruiser Bulldogs and we knew right away that they were the breeder for us. In September we ended up driving 9 hours to pick up two Bruiser bulldog puppies- one for my husband and I and one for my mom. Jackson and Penelope have been nothing but a joy. They are both very athletic and healthy. They are also HUGE snugglers and always want to be with you. It is an absolute pleasure having these two bullies in our lives! Erica is very knowledgeable about the breed. She is very hands on throughout the process and is just overall a kind and honest person to work with. With all that being said I cannot recommend Bruiser Bulldogs enough! Collyn C. One of the reasons we chose Bruiser Bulldogs was due to the claims about breeding for health. During our first visit at our vet's office, he told us that our pup was one of the healthiest English bulldogs he had ever seen. He is healthy, happy and social. Would recommend to anyone. Christina S. We seen our dog on their website and sent them an Email. Mitch called us and personally walked us through the process and made sure we had the right dog for our family. We couldn't be happier when we picked up our dog Ramsey, Erica made sure we had everything we needed and then some. They are truly amazing people who breed truly amazing dogs! Jim T. Training and Socialization Back to Top During the first eight weeks of life, puppies are extremely dependent on their mother, because they need special care to grow healthy and strong. The mother will provide her puppies with the nutrition they need by nursing them until they are fully weaned and are less dependent on her to survive. During this period, puppies open their eyes for the first time, generally when they are between 10 and 14 days old. Over these crucial first weeks, puppies grow out of infancy and learn to explore and play. They will begin to socialize with each other and with other members of their household once they're physically able to do so. From interacting with their littermates to humans, the period of four to seven weeks is the ideal time to introduce your puppy to numerous people, as this helps the pup grow into an outgoing, friendly, and secure dog. Just be sure that anyone handling your young puppy knows to do so gently. Their eyes will begin to open in the second week of life, usually between 10 and 16 days of age. However, they won't be able to see clearly at first. The eyes will gradually open wider, revealing grayish-blue eyes with a hazy appearance. Puppies' eyes will continue to develop over the next several weeks, reaching full vision around eight weeks of age. Puppies' ears begin to open around the time that the eyes do, generally around 12 to 14 days old. Their hearing will continue to develop until the puppies are around five weeks old. Newborn puppies cannot fully support their weight for the first two weeks of life, so they crawl around on their bellies, paddling and pushing with their legs and building strength. Most puppies will be able to rise up on their forelimbs around 5 to 6 days of age and will begin to use their hind legs around two weeks old. They usually begin to walk with a wobbly gait around 18 to 21 days of age. Puppies need to be stimulated to urinate and defecate for the first several weeks of life. Mom does this by licking the anal and genital areas. If you are raising an orphaned pup, you can use a warm, damp cloth or cotton ball to stimulate the area. Puppies gradually develop the ability to urinate and defecate on their own around three to four weeks of age. Puppies are born without teeth. Their baby teeth, or "milk teeth" will begin to come in between three and four weeks of age and continue to develop until about eight weeks of age. Behavior Changes For newborn puppies, the first two weeks of life are all about sleeping and eating. After 14 days of age, physical changes open up a whole new world. They begin to see, hear and walk. By the age of 21 days, they begin to explore the world and learn about being dogs. This is also when the socialization process begins. Puppies learn how to interact with other dogs by interacting with their mother and littermates. Human socialization with gentle handling is important at this time as well. Around seven to eight weeks old, the first "fear period" will begin. This is a time when most puppies seem to be afraid of new things. Anything you can introduce them to before this time may help make the fear period go more smoothly. Health and Care Mom will still be taking on most of the care for her puppies until they are fully weaned between five to eight weeks of age. However, her puppies will become less and less dependent on her after three to four weeks of age. You may find that the puppies wander out of their little "nest" and try to check out more of the house. It may be best to keep mom and pups in an exercise pen when you are not home. The first few weeks of life are a time of vulnerability for the puppies. If a puppy is not growing at the same rate as its littermates, it should be seen by a vet as soon as possible. In addition, any sign of illness , no matter how subtle, should be taken seriously. Food and Nutrition For the first three weeks of life, puppies get the nutrition they need from their mother's milk. If the puppy was orphaned or needs supplemental nutrition, puppy formula can provide the necessary nutrients. After baby teeth have erupted, around three weeks old, the puppies may be ready to begin weaning. Mom may naturally begin this process as she feels those puppy teeth nipping at her teats. A good way to transition the pups to dog food is to bring out some canned puppy food or softened puppy kibble use warm formula or water to soften the kibble. Be sure to choose a dog food intended for growth. You can encourage them to eat it by offering a taste from your finger. As puppies get used to the puppy food, they will gradually nurse less and less. Most pups are fully weaned by six to eight weeks of age. Training and Socialization Puppies between one to three weeks are still too young to respond to training or socialization. Though their brains are still developing, they are capable of learning some things. Of course, it is still important for these young pups to remain with their mother and littermates until eight to twelve weeks of age. As early as three to four weeks of age, you can start to introduce the crate and start some basic potty training. Even if the pups will be getting homes between eight to twelve weeks of age, you can start laying the groundwork for training. The time between four to seven weeks of age is an early socialization window. Although the puppy must remain with its mother, it is now ready to be exposed to new sights and sounds. It should start meeting people of all ages and appearances. This includes children who know how to act around dogs and will handle the puppy gently. More from The Spruce Pets. I recently reserved an English bulldog puppy. He was born 4 days premature by C-Section and has 7 other littermates. His mother is a red and white, kc registered family pet and his father is a kc registered red and white stud dog who participates in shows. My puppy opened his eyes around 2 weeks old and started walking around 3 weeks old. Fast forward to now, he is 6 weeks old tomorrow. When we saw a video of him walking at 3 weeks old, he seemed to have some weakness in his back legs but we passed it off as normal because he had only just started trying to walk. His siblings seem to have some leg issues too. Another pup in the same video had one leg that seemed to go out to the side, as if stretching. They walk on wooden floor and the grass outside. They are being weaned onto puppy food and are drinking from a bowl etc. Everything else with my puppy is fine, his eating and drinking habits, his toiletry habits etc. They are all booked in to see the vet on Monday and then I am viewing my pup on Tuesday. I am just looking for some piece of mind. Should I be concerned about his legs? Is this true? Any help or advice is welcome and appreciated. Thank you in advance. May 5, French Bulldog puppies can be similar to babies when they are first born; they typically require much attention and care. At birth, puppies are blind and deaf and usually snuggle together to keep warm since they cannot regular their body temperature. If you have a French Bulldog or are looking to acquire one, you may be interested in what happens before taking one home. When French Bulldogs Are First Born When the puppies are born, breeders and shelters ensure they cry and breathe properly. Then a veterinarian does a complete examination to check for any abnormalities. The average birth weight of the puppies is anywhere between 10 to 18 ounces. For the first few weeks or so, Frenchie puppies sleep most of the time. Then, for just a little bit of time, they typically will nurse when they are awake and somewhat alert. Heat lamps or another external heat source are available if puppies are not in direct contact with their mother. Whoever is watching over the French Bulldog puppies usually has a busy time assisting mothers every few hours and tending to make sure the puppies are latching and growing and being stimulated to go to the bathroom. Keeping a close watch on the puppies this way is because they are so tiny. The Frenchie mom could accidentally smother one, unaware, so they need to be looked after. French Bulldogs 10 Days to Two Weeks Old When the puppies are around ten days, they still sleep very often, but finally, they start to open their eyes and do some exploring. Being around the other dogs from the litter aids in socialization. When they reach a full two weeks old, their ears open, and they can hear. They cannot walk yet; their primary method of moving is crawling, similar to an army crawl. With exploring and hearing sounds, the world is opening up more for them, so they can begin venturing into new places and spaces. They also graduate from making only small whimpers to yelps, whines, and barks. But you will find that soon enough, their legs will stop being shaky, and they will move right along and walk with ease. They may also stop nursing at this age, though some Frenchies may continue to nurse until closer to six weeks of age. After that, their teeth begin to grow out and become more active and playful. They are also only strictly handled by a few people who do proper sanitizing. The puppies can chew on dry puppy food and build out their nutrition at four weeks old and start trotting and running. They can be handled by people with clean hands and have more freedom to explore inside. French Bulldog Puppies Five Weeks to Seven Weeks Old By the time French Bulldog puppies get to five weeks old, they can start exploring outside with less supervision and have increased playtime with their siblings. Their teeth also become more prominent, and they begin to chew a lot including on fingers, so be careful — those teeth are sharp! At six weeks, they have even more energy and enjoy playtime and a little more less sleep time. They are reaching more milestones, including growth at around 5 pounds. They also get another thorough veterinarian examination where they will receive vaccinations, which they receive again around nine weeks of age. It is an exciting endeavor to get a new puppy into the house, but also crucial to remember to puppy-proof things that the dog may chew or not leave out anything that the puppy could get into that poses a danger or hazard. They do sleep a lot, but French Bulldogs have a lot of energy that they want to burn off when they are awake. Understanding growth stages and how much exercise to give your Frenchie from puppy to adult dog is helpful for longevity. French bulldogs are prone to medical issues as they age, but ensuring exercise will help reduce their chances and prevent problems from occurring too soon. Socialization — Frenchies, like most dogs, need socialization to adapt to new situations and places and be more well-adjusted. So, taking your dog for frequent walks where it can explore other people and animals is helpful. Dogs who can coexist in harmony tend to be happier and friendlier and have less tendency to suffer from depression. Behavior and Training — walking your French Bulldog helps establish boundaries so that you can train them to be more obedient and follow your lead. It allows for bonding and building a connection with your puppy, and you can reinforce good behaviors when out walking together. Stimulation — Frenchies are prone to separation anxiety if left alone indoors and without exercise. Please keep your dog mentally active and give it more attention by walking it frequently in a routine. Walks of around 20 to 30 minutes should suffice and give your pet the ability to explore, socialize, and be stimulated. Consider breaking up the time and walking your Frenchie a couple of times each day, or having one of those times centered around play, to ensure that your French Bulldog is getting all of their walkings in and using that energy. As French Bulldog puppies start discovering their abilities to move around and be alert to their surroundings, they become more in need of walking and forms of stimulation. Prepare for the weather outside when you take your puppy for walks. As your Frenchie ages, walks may be cut shorter depending on how your dog is feeling. However, be sure not to overexert if you sense it needs a break, and take them as often as necessary. Every French Bulldog needs to walk and be active for good health and a long, happy life with its owner. Share on facebook. Home » Blog » What happens with your Frenchie in their first few weeks What happens with your Frenchie in their first few weeks You certainly want to know about every minute of your sweet puppy. Last year we did a documentary about our breeding program in which we showed where our Frenchies live and we also wrote about how our program has grown over the years. In this article, we share with you how we help our little puppies on the TomKings Puppies farm, from the first moments of their lives until we find a forever loving family for them. The vet checks if everything is fine and we take them home. The average birth weight of a Frenchie is 0. Their size strongly depends on the size of the litter; when there are a fewer of them they can be as big as a two-week-old puppy from an other litter. Newborn puppies are deaf and blind and absolutely helpless so we are here to assist their mother to nurture them. In the first two weeks They are breastfed every 3 hours, and then their mom stimulates them to pee and poo. Not all mothers are eager to do this, in which case we assist them with a dam, warm cotton towel. The puppies spend the rest of their time sleeping they often seem to be dreaming! Subscribe to our weekly blog newsletter: Subscribe to our blog newsletter! First name Email They are so cute as they love to huddle together, but we also keep them warm with an external source like an infra lamp. As the puppies are very small, there is a threat that the mom accidentally smothers one or more of them. In the first 4 weeks We make strict precautions to keep the newborn babies sterile to avoid the risk of them being infected. They sleep in the house with us, and only a small circle of carers are allowed to touch them who use lots of hands sanitizing. As the mother has less and less milk we gradually switch to give them milk from a bottle and then crushed food. The puppies open their eyes when they are days old, and then they are able to hear — a whole new world opens up for them. At the age of weeks, the little explorers start crawling and then the first few shaky steps. At this stage, they are already very playful and start love-biting each other. The body wrinkles may be visible on their legs, and the skin may seem a bit baggy on their body, but it is still challenging to determine the actual build of the puppy. Their builds become a bit more apparent as they begin to stand and walk, giving you a glimpse of their stance. The nervous system is rapidly developing at this time, and vision is also beginning to grow. Interaction matters, even at this young age. This sets the stage for how well they will bond. Their builds become more apparent, and the skin and wrinkles really begin to develop. Baby teeth are usually all in around weeks. This is when many pups will go through the finger-chewing puppy stage. They eat more every day as they go through various stages of digestion in preparation for the first solid food introduction around this time. They begin to fill out as they transition from milk to dry food and complete the weaning process. At about 8 weeks, your puppy has just started getting used to sleeping through the night. You may notice that their legs look a bit long and thin. This is because their legs are generally the first area of growth in preparation for the weight they will maintain throughout their lives. Your puppy is ready for adventure and has a great passion for exploring and playing with toys and their littermates. You can begin training your puppy at the latter part of this age. With this, their heads may appear too small for their bodies, which is perfectly normal and usually only lasts a few months. As a 16 week old English Bulldog, your pup is entering adolescence. Hold on for this. You might see chewing, not listening, and barking. You will see a resurgence of teething as the puppy teeth fall out and the adult set comes in. Much like humans, this can cause pain and irritation as the teeth push through the gums. Here again, you may see that their legs appear long and skinny for a month or two, and the entire process starts again. Adolescence is at its peak, around seven months. You may see an increase in rebelliousness, stubbornness, and not listening. For the most part, puppyhood has completed its course. The stages of growth for your English bulldog above are all estimates. There are certain ailments that are common in the English Bulldog. In fact, because of drastic changes in appearance over the years, they are susceptible to a large number of diseases and more than many other dog breeds. Feeding them nutritious food will help keep them within the target weight appropriate for their age. This plays a part when it comes to maintaining that healthy weight range. Getting your dog out for a walk also gets you out and active as well! Spaying And Neutering Weight gain and lethargy are common worries following either surgery, but a causal link has not been found between the two. Many times the surgery takes place when the puppy is in the midst of rapid development and growth, so the weight gain could simply be caused by normal development. However, consider consulting your veterinarian about any worries or questions you might have. A male English Bulldog typically weighs more than a female English Bulldog so expect this discrepancy. Having your Bulldog get overweight can lead to hip dysplasia, cancer, osteoarthritis, high blood pressure, liver disease, diabetes, or even heatstroke. By the time they turn one, most English bulldogs will stop growing. However, most of their growth and development has taken place during their first year of life. Are English Bulldogs good pets?
