The KRT71 gene if it is there or a lack of it controls whether or not a coat is curly. The FGF5 produces the longer, straighter coat. If he received both the KRT71 and FGF5, he will have a semi-tight coat or what we would refer to as a blend of both parents. The English Bulldog is described as very affectionate, dependable, gentle with children but known for its courage and bravery.
