In fact, they get more attention than most dogs because we hand select homes where the environment is extremely healthy emotionally and physically for a family dog. They have kids to play with, usually an adult home most of the day, sometimes another doggie playmate and of course, there are two families watching out for their health. They are groomed, exercised required , vetted, protected, and loved! Champion Lines Champion Lines means that there are close relatives of a dog that has achieved a Champion title in the show ring. We import our parent dog's lines, so they are from International Champion Lines. This is Ace for example. We raised Ace as a puppy and he now lives in Washington, DC with our sister, as a stud for our breeding program. He has 15 International Champions and 1 World Champion in his 5 generation pedigree. Several of his puppies are now grown and are currently in our Guardian Program having mini teddybear Goldendoodle puppies. We chose them because out of the American lines, they have similar qualities. We look for blocky, mellow, and great health testing in our parent dogs. We found that most English Cream Golden Retrievers have all three of those qualities. Some American Golden Retrievers have all three, but they are hard to find. Their hip testing has significantly higher scores. The other genetic tests we do on our dogs are often much better with the English. Their temperament is the biggest difference that most people notice between the two types. They are much more mellow. We feel that because our puppies will be family and service dogs instead of hunting or agility dogs, we think that the mellow, laid back temperament of the English Golden will be best for our lines. English creams have a wonderful body style for Teddybear Goldendoodles. They are blocky and thick. This offsets the lean, athletic build of the poodle and perfectly compliments them. They are the parent dog for us! Our Puppies Our puppies are thoroughly and highly socialized. Our puppies are handled daily by children of all ages. Our Goldendoodle puppies are exposed to every household noise because they are raised in a home. They are in the dining room or living room areas so that they are close by all the daily activities in the home. This also gives everyone in the home convenient access to socialize them as part of family life. As they grow, we integrate outside playtime for the puppies part of the day, so that they learn the dog world as well as the people world. A few of our breeding females are active therapy dogs in facility settings. We have sold several diabetic alert dogs DADS and many to be trained for therapy and service. We work with local and national trainers to choose potential puppies. Golden Retrievers are known to be the all-around best family dogs in the world. Flat faced dogs will be much more comfortable wearing a harness as opposed to a dog collar. You want the harness to be snug, but you should still be able to stick your finger into the harness. Easy to Put On Make the experience of the harness as easy as possible for your pet. We ended up getting Mindy a step-in harness that was designed of nylon. When she was a puppy, we had one that was made with mesh and she loved both of them. Find one that is easy to put on and take off. The padding can protect them from skin irritations that can be caused by the harness rubs up against them. Personally, I never had to worry about this, because Mindy loved her leash and she never pulled once I switched from a collar to a harness. Once you Pug becomes an adult, you should be able to use the same harness as they enter their senior years. How Does It Clip-On? Depending on how much control you want over your dog, the way it clips on will make a huge difference. A front-clip harness will give you more control over their behavioral issues. Back clip harnesses are easier to put on and will help protect their neck if they happen to pull. Gordo is such a large handsome boy. He was still growing when he came to us in December of weighing a mere 66 pounds, but has now filled out and is weighing close to 80 pounds. After being in the shelter for a while Gordo is understandably a little "pent up" but after a good walk or time outside in our off leash area you see that he has quite a bit of potential. Gordo gets very excited when he sees other dogs and not all dogs enjoy the "energy" he gives off so if you have another dog in the home we recommend doing a meet and greet between your dog and Gordo prior to adoption. Gordo was in an home prior to coming to the YHS and did get some training at some point as he already knows the commands for sit and shake, he will eagerly do both for a treat. He was impounded by animal control and there were some abuse allegations so it is important to understand that Gordo has not always had an easy life. Gordo has a friendly personality and likes attention but is still working on some basics such as "off" as some time he doesn't want to wait for you to dish out the love. He doesn't understand his size all the time and can get a bit over enthusiastic when playing tug-of-war or when he gets excited about something so we think that a home without kids would be best for now. That's not to say Gordo wouldn't love to have to kiddos keep him company in his future, we just think he needs some stability and training to polish him off so he doesn't accidentally knock a kid over with his enthusiasm or get mouthy with them while playing. If you are looking for a dog that you can work with and grow with Gordo might be the boy for you. He doesn't need much before he becomes a fantastic member of doggie society. He responds well to attention and walks slowly on his leash for his potty breaks. When Dozer was picked up by animal control he was sitting in a yard with multiple cats without issue. However, when he was briefly and we do mean briefly adopted to a home with barncats and horses he got into trouble for chasing them resulting in him being returned after only two hours. With Dozer's lovely personality we believe this is something that can be worked through and could have also been the result of excitement of just getting out of the shelter and then seeing all of these new things! It can take weeks and even months to acclimate a dog into your home, so if you have cats we recommend keeping the leash on Dozer when he is around them so he doesn't have the ability to chase and take your time, Dozer is a smart and sensitive boy. This sweet boy already knows sit and shake he does both for a treat and will take the treat gentle. He was introduced to another shelter dog and was very friendly towards that dog even when she jumped on him to play. Dozer looks very Bozer when you meet him in person although his head is a bit more blocky than the usual Boxer. He definitely gained the Boxers' silly and fun-loving personality. However, Boxers have been known to be escape artist so until he knows where home is we recommend supervised outdoor time, which is actually recommended for all recently adopted dogs.
