Breeders wanted way more money than we had ever paid for a dog, they were critical of any uncertainty you had and sometimes, just not friendly people. So we decided to find two labs and begin breeding ourselves. Now we are here to offer you the chance to fall in love with the breed that stole our hearts. Recommendations We recommend Seresto flea and tick collars to keep the pests off your babies. They last for 8 months and can be submerged in water without reducing the effectiveness of the collar. Our puppies are fed Purina Puppy Chow for large breeds for the first year of their lives. You want to make sure that whatever you feed, the formula is meant for large breed dogs to ensure proper growth. More accurate descriptions of these two dogs would be working type Labrador and show type Labrador. This is because their differences have more to do with the roles they were bred for than where they came from. American Labs were bred for working ability, and English for show quality. American Labs are built for endurance, speed and loyalty. While English Labs are calmer around game but more friendly around other people and dogs. For this reason, the American Labrador excels as a working dog. But, the English version makes a great family pet. Or that the English Lab will be low-energy. He was tasked with retrieving game without damaging it. In the s, visiting English nobles brought these dogs back to England, where British breeders refined and standardized the breed. As exhibiting dogs came into fashion on both sides of the Atlantic, the bloodlines for showing and working lines began to separate. Breeders started to create two different varieties of the breed. American Labs are both larger and leaner with a more athletic physique. Standard height varies from .Generally, male Labs weigh between 65 to 80 pounds and females from 55 to 70 pounds. But, English Labs can be as much as 20 pounds heavier without being overweight. This is due to their shape and structure. They have a stockier, heavier build and bone structure than their American cousins. The working type Lab has a finer bone structure, longer legs, and a lengthier muzzle. Plus, they have a narrower head and neck. But there are some differences when it comes to temperament. Although all Labradors are known for being energetic, American Labs are working gundogs with strong instincts to hunt and retrieve. You can expect their energy and stamina to know no bounds. This means they need lots and lots of physical exercise and mental stimulation to keep from becoming bored and destructive. These dogs are also typically more independent, intelligent, and adventurous than the English variety. In addition to their many other desirable qualities, Labs are also known for their trainability. One study of Labrador Retrievers found working dogs to be more trainable than show dogs. Luckily, both types are intelligent, eager to please, and highly food motivated when it comes to rewards during training sessions. The American Lab can excel at competitive sports such as agility. These dogs are also well-suited to a wide variety of service dog roles. Regardless of the type of Labrador, they will require proper training and socialization. Although the amount of exercise can vary from dog to dog, an athletic American Labrador typically needs approximately two hours of daily exercise. As long as mental and physical requirements are met, these dogs are relaxed companions. But even the best trained American Lab can turn to unwanted behavior if they have no way to release pent-up energy. Walking briskly offers mutual benefits for both dog and owner. But this athletic canine will need some off leash time for aerobic activities. Running, swimming, playing Frisbee, retrieving a ball, and other games are all great ways to keep an American Lab in shape. Exercise-Related Health Issues It should be noted that the Labrador breed is prone to some serious health problems that are related to exercise. Young adult Labradors are genetically at risk for a condition called exercise induced collapse EIC. This causes loss of muscle control after periods of extreme exercise. Bloat is a life-threatening stomach condition that can be brought on by vigorous activity before and after eating. Labradors are also at risk for hip and elbow dysplasia which can be made worse by excessive exercise. Quality nutrition, adequate exercise, and proper veterinary care will also help your pet live a good long life. Inherited conditions that affect the breed include the muscular disease hereditary myopathy. Puppies present with an abnormal gait and their growth can be stunted. Generalized weakness often gets worse with exercise and cold temperatures. Labradors are also at risk for eye conditions such as progressive retinal atrophy and cataracts, and heart conditions, like tricuspid valve malformation. Famously friendly and affectionate. Both the English and American Labrador can make a great family pet. These dogs bond with the whole family and will get along with other dogs as well. Choosing between a field or show dog really comes down to personal preference. Since American Labradors have so much energy, they do best with active families that enjoy spending time outdoors. Both of these dogs need a daily commitment to exercise. First time owners and those with a less energetic lifestyle may find the English Lab easier to handle. Many families also raise livestock and produce their own vegetables. We enjoy where we live as it is our goal to live a nice, quieter, slower pace of life. I am a cabinet maker by trade and work at a local business producing kitchen cabinetry. On evenings and weekends, I partner with helping my wife care for our pets and other animals. This is my favorite time of day. It was said that during my growing up years that I had a way of spoiling our family pets and loved spending all my time with them. I always made sure they had the greatest care. This passion has carried with me into adulthood and it is the same with our current pets as well. It was in , as a teenager that I discovered a passion for raising puppies. I picked a Boston Terrier for my first dog because I liked their personality, confirmation traits such as the flat muzzle and bulldog looks. It was and still is a great joy to watch them grow. I especially enjoy the first days their eyes begin to open and they begin to steady themselves and finally walk. We also really enjoy socializing and playing with them. Spending every day with puppies is amazing therapy for today's hustle and bustle. In my life was changed forever when I married my wife. She has been an amazing partner and we have grown to share many of the same passions. My wife is amazing with our dogs and is the one to care for them during the day. It is always sad for us to see a puppy leave our home to another but it is a greater joy knowing they are strong, happy, healthy, and going to a loving trustworthy family. We always enjoy seeing the pictures and stories that come back from our puppies forever homes as well. We couldn't resist their fun-loving personality and well-built confirmation. Since we brought our first puppies home to raise we have always been focused on raising the bar for confirmation short ears, short muzzle, blocky build and genetic profile. Raising the French Bulldog breed comes with a special set of challenges but those challenges can not contend with our love and dedication to the breed. We have some adults with both standard and more rare colors such as blue merle, blues, and chocolate. It's always exciting for us to see what colors will come about from our breeding program and we are always researching how to improve. We have environmental controlled housing with temperature adjustment capabilities and air quality filtration. We also have outdoor play areas dedicated to each individual and we socialize with them daily. Our vet makes weekly visits to do health checks so we can be confident each of our pets is at peak health. We routinely visit breeder seminars to take advantage of the latest research and stay up to date on health and wellness standards. It is ultimately our goal though to exceed the standards for raising puppies and seek to raise the happiest healthiest pups that we can. Our pets are fed only top quality grain free dog food, supplements, and immune boosters. In our focus on health, we are working toward having all our adult dogs OFA tested, certified, and clear of any genetic disorders. Frenchies technically are born at the veterinarians since they have c-sections. French Bulldogs also often need to be bred by AI, and are normally born by c-section. C-sections also mean the moms will only have a few litters in their lifetime. Raising Frenchies, French Bulldogs is definitely not for everyone! The price of hard to raise puppies in breeds like French Bulldogs is simply greater due to the difficulty and cost involved in getting quality genetics and then of raising the puppies. We love our puppies and dogs and only want them in a home where they will be a part of the family! Frenchies are heat and cold sensitive, some more then others. Some are amazingly agile, fast, and athletic and do tolerate a wider range of temperature since we breed for a more open airway. Others are at risk of collapsing if overheated when simply out on a warm day and playing. Many make terrific therapy dogs. They are very sturdy and tolerant of children. Very well natured getting along with lots of random dogs he's met along the way. We wont know if they are actually pregnant for awhile yet. The puppies would be 8 weeks old in December. Deposit information: Until puppies are born it is just an educated guess as to what colors they may be, or if the mom is even pregnant for awhile! We of course don't know gender, or color until birth. At times we have deposits prior to puppies being born, when that happens those families pick first and then the remaining puppies will be shown as available. We will post puppies as available until a deposit is received, then mark them as sold, or pending pick up. Always check by phone or email to be sure the website is updated for the puppy you are interested in. A deposit holds a specific puppy, or a place on the list for choosing a future unborn puppy. Combining this gorgeous breed with the sleek, strong German Shepherd produces a breed that is absolutely breathtaking. Some mixes retain the perky ears of a German Shepherd, while others inherit the floppy ears of a Great Pyrenees. Their beautiful locks are typically medium length and straight. As for color, they typically inherit their coat color from their Great Pyrenees parent — white, black, and tan. Because they have such dense coats, Great Pyrenees German Shepherd mixes shed heavily. So it is very important to brush them daily to help prevent tangles and remove any dead fur. Height and Weight You can expect this dog to stand between inches tall. As for weight they are typically lb. These mixes can be quite muscular and appear very strong — their huge size is sometimes intimidating, yet these hybrids are gentle giants. Although Great Pyrenees German Shepherds act tough when they are working, these dedicated dogs turn into playful puppies in the snow — they love snow! Because of their thick coats, they thrive in cold conditions. They can overheat quickly in warmer climates, so it is important to provide them with plenty of shade if you live in a warm area. Agility training with this breed forms an extremely strong bond between dog and owner and often increases confidence. They can inherit their coat from their Great Pyrenees parent which is water-resistant and acts like a built-in raincoat! These highly independent dogs are prone to wandering off. They do not see this as an issue, because they will eventually return home. But for ease of mind as an owner it is best to invest in a sturdy fence to keep them confined to a large backyard. Great Pyrenees German Shepherd Mix Personality and Temperament This hybrid takes some of the best personality traits from both the Great Pyrenees and the German Shepherd and combines them into one majestic pooch. The perfect mix inherits the kind, gentle nature of a Great Pyrenees and the loyal and dedicated nature of a German Shepherd. Both parent breeds are highly intelligent, so these dogs are very smart as well. As both parent breeds are working dogs , the Great Pyrenees German Shepherds are very determined and serious when it comes to performing tasks. Because German Shepherd Great Pyrenees mixes are so devoted to their jobs they are extremely confident and self-assured. They will almost never appear timid and will always walk around with their head held high. Despite their serious nature while they are working they have a very playful side as well. Pyrenees mixes love to run and explore and may even get into some mischief if they get bored. It is important to play often with them to challenge their minds and let them flex their hard-working instincts. Their large bodies house A LOT of energy! These pups need to be walked and played with frequently to help them burn all of this energy. They can be calm and snuggly, but to achieve this temperament, you have to make sure you exercise them regularly. As long as these dogs are socialized from pups they will be extremely loving with other people or pets. Without socialization they may not trust strangers. As long as they are socialized from a puppy, the Great Pyrenees German Shepherd mix makes an incredible family dog. These pooches are very loving and sweet and get along easily with children and other pets. Despite their large appearance these dogs are very gentle and patient so they will get along even with young children. They are easy to train because of their high intelligence and they are typically very well-behaved. These majestic dogs require some moderate grooming and also need a significant amount of exercise each day, so make sure you have the money and time to invest in these beautiful hybrids before adopting one. Although LRSA is a breed specific rescue, we re-home many Labrador cross breeds as well as their other breed family companions. Medium Goldendoodle Size, Traits and Characteristics The fully grown Medium Goldendoodle is typically around lbs and is often a wonderful blend of the characteristics of both the Mini and Standard Goldendoodles. Often the medium size Goldendoodles have a parentage that includes both standard and miniature poodles so most have a blend of the mini and standard personalities.
