Poodles are one of the most frequent breeds to win dog shows. They are available in standard, miniature and toy sizes. Though classed in the non-sporting and toy groups, poodles were originally bred for water retrieving. Regardless of size, play and social interaction are important for optimum poodle puppy development. Birth to Two Weeks Poodle puppies weigh about 4 to 6 oz. During this time, puppies are completely dependent on their mother for everything, including body temperature regulation. His senses and motor skills improve greatly during this time, and most poodle puppies will begin to explore the area around the whelping box. This is a good time for puppies to bond with humans through daily touch and gentle interaction. Four to 12 Weeks This is an important time period for house training and basic obedience. Some breeders, such as the owner of the website Poodle Junction, begin litter box training at this time. Poodles are also weaned from their mother starting at around five weeks. This process usually lasts until seven or eight weeks, by which time they should be eating solid puppy food exclusively. Puppies should be examined by a veterinarian and de-wormed at around six weeks, and most vets start the puppy vaccine series by eight weeks. At eight weeks, the puppies are old enough to go to new homes. During weeks eight to 12, the poodle puppy is adjusting to his new home, bonding with his owner and making associations between commands and rewards. During this time, puppies learn by testing their boundaries. Some poodle puppies may seem to regress in training during this time, but this is temporary and a normal part of development. It is important to be patient with a puppy and remember that he does not speak your language or understand all of your rules. Address issues like hand nipping with a verbal reprimand. Give the puppy an acceptable alternative, like a chew toy, and reward him for playing with it. Because poodles are an energetic breed, lots of play and exercise are important. This is a good time to start a daily routine that includes walks and games like fetch. Six to 12 Months During this time, a poodle puppy may challenge your dominance as he nears sexual maturation. Remain firm and consistent in your training. As your puppy nears the one-year mark, you can start transitioning him to an adult formula of dog food. Gradually replace some of his puppy food with the adult food over a period of several weeks. A rapid switch will cause digestive problems. This is also an ideal time to have your poodle neutered or spayed if you do not intend to use the dog for breeding. This helps reduce certain health risks and often eliminates some dominant behaviors. Talk to your veterinarian about the benefits of sterilization and the best time to perform the operation. At what age is a Poodle fully grown? Poodles are considered fully grown adults at two years old and tend to show emotional signs of maturity, like a calmer nature, around 18 months. At a year old, most Poodles will have reached their final height or very close to it. However, most Poodles will require a full two years to fill out their chest and reach their final weight. Image Source: Pexels How big should a 6-month-old Poodle be? A six-month-old male Poodle will weigh around 41 to 48 pounds, while a six-month-old female Poodle will weigh about 28 to 34 pounds. Both male and female Poodles at this age stand at around 18 to 22 inches tall, which for some Poodles is already their full adult height. Pro Tip: Check out this ultimate pet parent guide with 39 dog care tips on pet first aid kits, puppy-proofing practices, training, veterinary appointments, and more! How much bigger will my Poodle get? There are a few ways to assess how much bigger your Poodle will get. The first is age. If your Poodle is less than a year old, they still have significant growth left! If your Poodle is between one and two years old, they are likely still filling out a bit, but are probably at their adult height. Do they still look oversized next to their legs and body? If this is the case, they are probably still filling out as this is a classic puppy feature! A Poodle puppy will rarely grow larger than their bigger parent, so this will also give you an idea of their maximum size. What is the size of a full-grown Poodle? According to the American Kennel Club Official Poodle Standards , an adult male Poodle is 60 to 70 pounds while an adult female Poodle weighs between 40 and 50 pounds. By these standards, full-grown Poodles will be over 15 inches tall when measuring from the ground to the highest point of their shoulders while standing. Most Standard Poodles will stand between 18 and 24 inches tall. Smart lifestyle choices are essential in keeping your Poodle happy and healthy. The Veterinary Centers of America recommend a long walk, jog, or intense play to fulfill their daily exercise needs. Poodles were bred as retrievers and, as such, are keen on games involving retrieving like fetch. Many Poodles also enjoy swimming. Due to their full coats, Poodles can put on excess weight without their pet parents realizing it. Poodles are not overly prone to weight issues with a balanced diet, but their coat can disguise weight changes. Their full coats also require regular upkeep like brushing and combing every other day, professional grooming every six weeks or so, and watching for potential eye problems. Poodles are prone to weeping eyes and eye irritation from lashes or hair, so keeping their eye area free of long hair is ideal. As a purebred dog breed, Poodles are more susceptible to genetic health problems. Many of these genetic health problems can be screened for early on using DNA technology. These early screenings can help you and your veterinarian prevent and minimize health complications from these genetic diseases. A bove all else, regular veterinary care is the best way to make sure your Poodle stays healthy. Between health screenings, regular veterinary care, bloodwork, x-rays , dental cleanings , and more, your veterinarian is your best resource in caring for your precious Poodle puppy. Be aware, vet visits can quickly become expensive - especially when immediate treatment or surgery is needed for an emergency or illness. With many treatments and surgeries costing thousands of dollars, this can quickly put pet parents in a pinch should the worst happen to their pet. Poodles are larger dogs, which can also increase the price of treatment. This is where pet insurance comes in. Pet insurance reimburses you for out-of-pocket veterinary costs and provides a safety net should the worst happen to your Poodle. As purebred dogs, Poodles are more prone to genetic health problems, like bloat or hip dysplasia, which can quickly become expensive to treat. Behavioral Differences Based on Age Some owners are perfectly happy to have the puppy stage end and other feel that they will really miss it and that it goes by too fast. There are changes in overall behavior as a Poodle ages and some of these could be considered beneficence.Young Puppies: Puppies from age 8 to about 4 months old are very hyper and love to play. If engaged, they will often interact until they pass out for a nap right in the middle of things. They really do not know their limits and owners will need to schedule some breaks just so that the pup does not overdo things. Puppies at this age are exceedingly curious and while this can be a good thing in regard to socialization, it also means that the house will need to be 'puppy-proofed' since everything within reach will be considered a toy to be mouthed. Older Puppies: Starting at about the 4 month mark, puppies will calm down a bit. They know are understanding their daily schedule and have learned to be somewhat more patient about things. Commands are being learned and housebreaking is just about wrapped up. This is really a pivotal age for dogs. If a Poodle is somewhat sheltered and is not introduced to the world around him, he can tend to be shy and even nervous in new situations and when meeting others both humans and other canines. In addition, triggers can cause a lot of barking. However, if an owner takes the time to make gradual introductions to all sorts of events, places, people and other pets, a Poodle can incrementally learn to adjust and feel self-confident. If exposed to certain triggers enough times, a Poodle at this age will begin to learn that barking is not a necessity. Adults: The 1 year mark for both Toy and Miniature Poodles marks the age of adulthood. For Standards, while they do become adult at the age of 2 years old, you'll start to notice maturity changes around the 18 month mark. While things will not change overnight, you can expect the adult Poodle to be calmer than his young counterparts in regard to needing to chew, romp around and have constant attention. A Poodle that has learned to self-sooth and play independently will now do fairly well when left home alone. For others, there will still be some anxiety during these times. Adults should know commands very well by now, sit still for grooming and heel nicely when on leash. If a Poodle had not quite yet mastered these things, it is not too late to work on them. A dog of any age and learn any elements including commands, heeling and behaving nicely. The 2 year old mark is the time that color fading and changes will often be complete. For example, black Poodles and often chocolates will fade by this age. Seniors: While the charts show the aging process of Poodles, each dog is unique. Some may be peppy and active for years after entering the senior years… and others may show signs earlier. There will be many changes as your dog grows older, however it is extremely important to not dismiss changes as being normal signs of aging… it is quite possible that a Poodle has a treatable medical issue that has nothing to do with old age. Therefore, do be aware of the following signs; however be sure to discuss these with your veterinarian. By Josh Weiss-Roessler Some of us, when we think of a puppy, imagine an adorably tiny dog that can barely open his eyes stumbling around as he explores the world. Despite the fact that they go through a number of stages of growth and development, we tend to consider dogs either puppies or adults. So what are the stages of puppy growth and development? Depending on what methodology you want to follow, there are anywhere from 5 to 7 stages of puppyhood that start at birth and end when your dog reaches adulthood. During this period, they are going to be most influenced by their mother or mother surrogate and littermates, and will start learning some simple social skills, coordination, and the ranking process. By the end of this period, they should be able to use the bathroom on their own and see quite well on their own. By five weeks, puppies are aware of their surroundings and start really enjoying playtime. Good experiences with people from weeks 5 to 7 will play a large role in how they continue to interact. By week seven, you may be able to start house-training your puppy. During this stage, your pup will begin to understand and use ranking in terms of submission and dominance. Teething and related chewing and chewing issues! Adolescence 6 to 18 months Your pup now understands that he has a pack which may consist of both humans and dogs and his behavior will be most influenced by this group. You can expect your dog to challenge you more as he explores dominance and his role in the pack. By knowing what to expect and at which times, you can better prepare yourself to deal with specific behaviors so you handle them in a way that is both positive and encourages the kind of behavior you want. Their body temperature at birth is around 94 — 97 degrees. They are not able to regulate their own body temperature so they depend on their mother for warmth. They also cannot see or hear or eliminate on their own. They cannot walk. About all they can do is smell, suckle and crawl. They are totally dependent on their mother and the environment the first 2 to 3 weeks. They are mostly influenced by their mother and litter-mates during this period. We weigh the puppies everyday the first 2 to 3 weeks. Week Two: Poodle Puppies usually open their eyes around 8 to 10 days and their ears around 13 to 17 days. While sleeping all healthy and contented puppies will twitch. This is an activated sleep, characterized by muscle twitches. This is normal and healthy. Week Three: During the third week we will often see teeth start to erupt and the puppies will start to stand and walk around. Everyday is amazing to see these helpless puppies start to become independent. At this age their nervous system is more developed so that they can urinate and defecate by themselves. This is when the puppies will also start to play a little bit more with their litter-mates. This week is very important in the puppies emotional development. They will start not only the interaction with their litter-mates but also with their mother. We never start the weaning process during this week. While mother may come out of the whelping box during this week she will never be far. Week Four: At this age the puppies will be introduced to our own homemade puppy mush and their supplement which will help grow their immune systems. Puppies are born without an immune system and depends on their mother to supply this protection through her milk. Their body temperature will usually be around degree and they will be able to begin regulating their own body temperature. Every day they will eat more and more. The puppies will start to eat more food and move around more easily. They may even start to chase each other, bark, and bite. We still weigh them at least every other day if not every day. This is the time that the mother starts leaving the puppies at longer intervals of time and start to regulate their nursing. So this is a good time for us to introduce the puppies to the weaning box and start the weaning and potty box training. Week Five: Puppies start to establish some sort of dominance in the pack. Growth and development is rapid in this week. They become very aware of their surroundings and respond quickly to training. They begin to growl, play, challenge, and learn disciple from their mother. They also develop a bit of a competitive spirit. Training ability is developed and puppies are ready to begin learning. They also start to discover their toys and play with them more. Keeping them stimulated is important. Puppies can start to control their need to potty and now know they need to move away from the sleeping area. Good experience with people from week 5 — 7 will play a large roll in how they will continue to interact. Week Six: By this time it is amazing to see that little puppy wake up and walk over to the potty box to eliminate. Puppies enter their socialization period by the end of the third week. However, the most critical period — age six to eight weeks — is when puppies most easily learn to accept others as part of their family pack. The integrating of the human family is so important and will effect them for the rest of their life. The puppy brain waves look of an adult dog by about the 50th day, but he is not yet programmed — that is the job of the human trainer, and the job of his mom, siblings and other canine family members. This is when the fun begins for all humans and puppies. We know how important this time is for puppy to adjust to humans and how playtime stimulates their little brains to grow smart and wise. We introduce them to the outside. We bring in more interactive toys. We introduce them to the pool, weather permitting. If outside pool is out we use the grooming bath for water play. They also learn not to bite the human hand ever! It is at the 7th week, day 49, that we conduct the Volhard Test. This is actual one of several that will occur through its life. Instead of meeting new or familiar people and objects with curiosity puppies start to react with fearfulness. Anything that frightens them at this age may have a lasting impact. So take care that the baby is not overstimulated with to many changes or challenges at one time. This does not mean that your puppy will grow up to be a scared-y-cat; it is simply a normal part of development where puppies learn to be more cautious. Careful socialization during this period helps counter fear reactions. Because your puppy is actively working on social skills and is paying attention to both litter-mates and humans. Your puppy is learning at an extremely fast rate. This is why we will NOT hold any puppy beyond the 9th weeks. All puppies that cannot be picked up during puppy pickup week must enter their puppy into a training program. Weeks Thirteen — Sixteen: During this phase a puppy will attempt to challenge you for dominance. Here is where they test to see just how much they can get away with and test your level of tolerance. The more a puppy is allowed to get way with during this phase, may cause the dog to lose more and more respect for his owner. This may result in behavioral issues that can snowball if not corrected through training and obedience. Formal obedience should begin here. This will assist the dog in becoming the best he can be. This is the time your puppy will begin to understand and use ranking in terms of submission and dominance. Are you the owner going to be a good pack leader? Puppies will need to be taught what they can and cannot chew. Puppies need to be taught that it is never acceptable behavior to jump on a human, small or big. This is the time that the pack leader, the human in charge, especially needs to be confident, but firm with positive reinforcement. An obedient dog, a good canine citizen, is a pleasure to be with. A disobedient dog causes stress for all and can cause damage to things and other humans. What do I mean by that? The canine depends on a human, however, he is and his thinking is canine. He needs the human to communicate and set the standards for him. If the human does not then the dog will have no choice but set his own standards, doggy style. Be prepared to be a Good, very good, pack leader! Your puppy now understands that he has a pack which may consist of both humans and canine and his behavior will be most influenced by this group. You can expect your dog to challenge you more as he explores dominance and his role in the pack. Rather they are just working out what their rank is in the pack and what is expected of them in their position. Again: be a Good, very good, pack leader! Canines that are not spayed or neutered will also start exhibiting sexual behavior during this period. Be responsible and spay or neuter you canine. You will see many behaviour changes during the life stages of your pup. Knowing how to handle your pup through each developmental stage will help to shape your puppy into a lifelong family member. Puppy Developmental Stages The puppy development process covers five distinct stages. However, puppies grow through these stages at their own pace and these timelines can vary. Stage 1: Neonatal Period 0 — 2 weeks This is the first stage of puppy development and begins at birth. At this age, puppies only have the sense of taste and touch and rely totally on their mother. Stage 2: Transitional Period 2 — 4 weeks Sensory development continues with hearing and sense of smell. Puppy teeth start coming through and their eyes will begin to open. Puppies will interact with their litter mates, wag their tails, stand, walk a little and bark. It is vital to understand this stage as most puppies go home to their new parents between 7 — 12 weeks. During this period, changes start to occur rapidly. Between 3- 5 weeks puppies start to become aware of their surroundings and have the ability to develop a relationship with people This is the period where puppies get familiar with the day-to-day noises of a regular household such as TVs, vacuum cleaners, telephones, etc. At this age puppies are just learning to interact with each other and beginning to play. They are also learning their doggie social skills and exploring their ranking status within their pack. Their curiosity is developing, as are their biting skills. Nipping behaviours begin as they practice biting behaviour with their mother and litter mates. At the weeks stage, they will have full use of all their senses and will be ready to go home to their new owners. Bringing your pup home usually between weeks is right in the middle of his socialization period. Therefore, it is vital that you introduce your puppy to as many new dogs, people, objects and surroundings as you can. BUT, make sure you do so in a controlled manner and never put your puppy in a dangerous situation where they can be injured, scared or contract disease. This is a great period to begin crate training, for a variety of reasons. Puppies are old enough to start getting used to being left alone to avoid separation anxiety from developing and are capable of being house-trained. Even though your home is likely puppy proofed, it also saves your possessions. During this phase of development, puppies are developing their reactions to things much more consistently. They are also likely to focus more on different types of people and should be friendly and approachable to strangers. During this time they are also going to continue to practice their biting skills a whole lot more! It is important to learn how to manage this behaviour early on. You may also notice that they are more curious and will probably look to explore their environment more. Be prepared for this and keep your puppy close to you and leashed. Stage 4: Testing Period 3 — 6 months This is the time your puppy starts to test their boundaries within their world. They will test the limits with their owners and other animals. At this age many adult dogs will start to enforce manners. Problematic behaviours can begin to arise in this period. At this age your puppy is going to go through teething and chewing is a common side effect. Make sure he has plenty of chew sticks and toys. Use commercial sprays or gels that dissuade your puppy from chewing your belongings. Try soaking a cloth toy in chicken stock and freezing it if your puppy is experiencing pain while teething. Once frozen, this can be given to your puppy as a chew toy and will help to relieve sore gums. Puppies are usually finished teething by the age of 6 months when the upper fangs canines come in. Your cute little puppy is becoming a teenager and will start producing hormones which may result in changes in behaviour. Dogs go through adolescence much earlier than people; for small breeds, is can be as early as six months old while larger dogs starting at nine or 10 months of age. Adolescence in larger breed dogs continues until they are two or three years old with smaller dogs reaching maturity at about 18 months. Typically the larger the dog, the slower the development. The first 8 weeks of life are an important time when puppies learn to respond to warmth and touch, maintain their body heat and other body functions, how to respond to cues from other dogs, and that people are fun to interact with. Puppies will develop a gradual increase in independence and confidence during this time. Around months old there is often another fear period. Fear periods last only a week or two and the age and severity varies widely even between two puppies from the same litter. When a puppy is fearful it is best to fun the experience up, your natural instinct will be empathy and to talk in soothing tones. This behavior only increases their fear by teaching them there is something to be afraid of. Puppies may develop selective hearing and decide to try everything their own way. Puppies that may have been trained to come when called may decide to ignore you. Standard Poodles being extremely intelligent may find new and exciting ways to get into trouble and test their boundaries. Patience, consistent training, redirecting and a sense of humor are essential in raising your puppy. The general difference between the growth stages is how fast the puppy grows during the period and how they appear in posture and body condition. The first stage is from birth until they are 2 weeks of age. After the second week, the growth rate slows down. Most breeders wean the puppies off around the 4th-5th week. At 18 months of age, you can probably introduce your companion as a fully developed, curious, and independent adult Boxer. Boxer puppies have somewhere between 2. At the end of the first stage, they can reach around 4. At 1 month of age, their stuffed muscle figure comes at about 5. By the time they are 16 weeks old, males weigh lbs .Male Boxers are expected to have approximately lbs .In the next six months, the growth slows down to about lbs 0. Male Boxers should weigh around lbs kg by the time they reach 6 months of age. Female boxer puppies are expected to have lbs kg when they are half a year old. Since the Boxer qualifies as a medium to large breed, it takes longer for them to reach their full-sized version compared to other smaller breeds. There are exceptions when Boxers complete the growth at 20, even 24 months. Female Boxers that are done growing up weigh approximately lbs kg and stand .Their male counterparts have between 60 and 70 lbs kg and are 23 to 25 inches cm tall. In the meantime provide quality food, regular exercise, and maintain regular veterinary check-ups to ensure their well-being. As with all other dog breeds, some adult Boxers will be smaller than the standard dimensions of the breed. On the other hand, there is a handful of those that are larger than the standard too. Genetics is the most probable cause for this. Rarely do Boxers end up being smaller than the rest due to low production of the growth hormone. Luckily growth hormone problems in Boxers are very rare and other breeds such as the Miniature Pinscher, Spitz, or Karelian Bear Dog are more prone to the condition. Growth defects in dogs can appear due to Dwarfism Achondroplasia. Minor deformities can be surgically corrected, but again with a dubious prognosis. In Conclusion Understanding the growth chart will help you understand what role nutrition, diet, and exercise plays and adjust accordingly. Getting rid of excess weight or ruling out health issues is something you and your vet can work on together. German Shepherd Owners give their dogs time they can spare, room they can spare, and love that they can spare. For the complete list please see our German Shepherd Breeders close to you page. German Shepherds are one of the most popular breeds in America. When looking for a German Shepherd puppy, be sure to avoid pet stores and breeders who only offer puppies for sale online. Another option is to work with a breeder that offers health insurance for their puppies. This can help you avoid astronomical costs later on down the road, especially if you end up with an expensive breed of dog. This organization is dedicated to promoting and protecting the breed, and they only work with breeders who adhere to their high standards. The AKC maintains a list of reputable breeders who have met their rigorous standards and are committed to providing high-quality puppies. Do your research before buying a puppy, and be sure to ask lots of questions. Responsible breeders will be more than happy to answer all of your queries. This will allow you to see the puppies in their natural environment and meet their parents. It will also give you a chance to ask any questions you may have about the breed or the breeding process. You can also see the living conditions the puppies are kept in. When you visit a breeder, be sure to look for clean cages and plenty of human interaction. Grooming is also a good indication of how much care goes into raising these dogs, so be sure to check out the condition of their coats. High-quality German Shepherd breeders will always have a history of doing all they can to help their customers find the right puppy for their family situation. This will give you an idea of what your German Shepherd will look like when he or she grows up. Responsible breeders will only sell their puppies to families who are willing to commit to their welfare for the duration of their lives. Responsible breeders will be more than happy to provide you with the names and contact information of previous customers. Good breeders will have nothing to hide, so they should be more than willing to provide you with references. Be sure to contact the references and ask them about their experience working with the breeder. Were they happy with the puppy they purchased? Did the breeder follow up after the sale to make sure they were satisfied? How did their puppy turn out? Prior to making a purchase, ask for some pictures of the puppies with both parents. This will give you an idea of what kind of breeders they come from and how committed they are to excellent customer service. Insist on meeting the person who purchased your potential puppy and ask them about their experience with the breeder. Did they receive weekly updates after the purchase? Were all their questions answered during the purchasing process? Were they able to take home a healthy, happy puppy? Do they seem like someone you can trust? Are they knowledgeable about the breed and the breeding process? One of the best ways to judge a breeder is by their relationship with their veterinarian. These breeders will often produce puppies without regard for their health or well-being. Ask The Kentucky Breeder if Your German Shepherd Puppy Has Any Health Problems One of the biggest benefits of purchasing a puppy from a breeder is that you can rest assured that they have been health screened and are free from any genetic health problems. Be sure to ask the breeder about any health problems that may be common in the breed. They should be able to tell you about any genetic disorders that could potentially affect your puppy. This will make your life easier and ensure that their introduction to your family goes off without a hitch. Make sure there are no small objects or toys lying around, including things on shelves or in cabinets. With their powerful jaws, puppies can do some real damage if they get hold of something small and pointy. Put away all plants with berries that could potentially be deadly if eaten by a curious pup. Remove any string or wires that are visible. Secure any medications, cleaning supplies, alcohol, or anything else that may be harmful to a puppy. Create a designated space for your new pup, such as a crate or kennel. This will become their home base and a place where they can feel safe and secure. Set up a schedule for feeding, walking, and playing with your new puppy. Establishing these routines early on will help them develop good habits for the future. Bringing home a new German Shepherd puppy is an exciting experience for any family. Potty Training Your New German Shepherd Puppy Potty training your new pup is an incredibly important step in establishing a good relationship. Offer plenty of positive reinforcement for going potty in the right place. Have treats or other rewards on hand so that they associate certain behaviors with receiving something fun. Take them outside frequently, especially after meals and naps. Go to the same spot each time so they start to make the connection between going outside and doing their business. This will help them to understand that this is not acceptable behavior. By following these tips, you can potty train your new German Shepherd puppy quickly and easily. I love animals and love helping people adopt a pet. It all started when attending Missouri State University and I began volunteering at an animal shelter. AKC proudly supports dedicated and responsible breeders. We came from here from the West coast , Washington state, moved to a huge 66 acre farm for the dogs to have lots of room to run. We are an ever growing family, I say this because you never know what is going to join our family next. We are very animal loving; it is just so fun to nurture them and watch them change as they grow up. If you ask both of my parents, they would tell you that I was always doctoring animals and wanting a new fur critter whenever I could talk them into it. Now as an adult with a family of my own, I have passed my love of animals to my children. My husband and I come from a background that is military and law enforcement based. This is where I found my love for the breed and began to learn about German Shepherds. While I was deployed in Iraq on my base there was a German shepherd K-9 handler assigned. I remember thinking it was the coolest thing in the world that he could say his partner was a dog. A German shepherd is such a smart and loyal animal. In my breeding, we strive to produce high quality puppies for all walks of life. Whether you are looking for a new family pet, working on the farm with herding or competing in competitive showing I offer it all. Our pups are family raised in my home right next to my children. I expose them to different size and age dogs, along with cats, and goats. Please feel free to take a look around our site and let us know if you have any questions, we would be happy to answer them. We love our fur children and we are sure you will fall in love with them too. Gary Collins.

If you have lived with dogs most of your life, we highly suspect that you may have experienced this Very tough day too. Secondly, enhancing bloodlines is also a considerable investment of both money and time that all Best Practice breeding programs continually work towards for progeny, not only to minimize genetic health issues, but to also improve the ideals of the breed's bloodline. Will I be pre-qualified before allowed to adopt a puppy? Yes, you most certainly will. A telephone interview will be scheduled to discuss with you and your family if applicable within 5 days of receipt of your application. Considerations are innumerable in this process and include without limitation: close puppy observations beginning with birth through aptitude tests at weeks of age when personalities and temperaments begin to quickly indicate if a pup would be best suited for active companionship in the home, at your side hunting in the field or have significant potential in field competition. At what age can I expect to pick up my puppy? At 8 weeks minimum, no sooner. Will you ship my puppy to me? We will not ship puppies due to the duress it may cause Bear's babies. We can make arrangements to meet you at Bergstrom Airport, Austin Texas if you decide to fly rather than drive. Are there any health guarantees that come after adoption? Most definitely. Will my pup's adoption be registered with a AKC as limited or full registration? What happens if my puppy should not be clear of genetic defects? You need to understand BRFGR cannot predetermine the outcome of the breeding and therefore can make NO assurances that your pup will be free of inherited genetic or other disease, nor that your puppy will meet your expectations with respect to conformation, performance or temperament regardless of BRFGR's best efforts to match you with your pup. Little did we know that giants are known to be a working breed and NEED to be worked. We got koda training from Petco at a young age since we knew he was going to be big and needed his behaviors to be under control. And that only lasted so long before he started to have bad anxiety and that was due to needing to be worked, which we had no clue about. Koda was VERY close to being kicked out of our home because he was just destroying everything in our brand new home. During the free initial assessment Koda was all over Shelly, the owner, while her and I were talking about the best plan for him. Fast forward 4 home sessions, Koda now is not at the door barking and jumping all over people when they come to the house, and actually following all of his commands that he has learned. We rescued a 2 yr old mix breed that was found with wounds on her neck from being tied up. I knew I would need professional help with her training. From my initial phone call setting up the free home demo I just knew I made the right decision. They took the time listening to our needs and what we are looking to accomplish with training. Then our trainer Ashley came over with 2 of her dogs. She came back 2 days later and we are now on week 3! Ashley is so knowledgeable, personable and kind. She takes her time making sure we are comfortable with our homework. You can tell she loves her job and cares like family. Not only has Lexi learned so much already , so have we. I wanted my lab, Rosie, to be trained and certified to be a service dog. With a lot of work on Shelly's part, practice on my part an Rosie's ability we succeded in achieving our goal of training her to be a service dog in record time. The team of three will continue with this training in the coming months to keep Rosie on her game. I'm proud of Shelly as she had the confidence to make this happen. If you need a trainer you have found her in Shelly Walker. She works quickly and efficiently and answers any and all of your questions whatever they may be. I recommend Shelley and her program for anyone searching for help with their dog! Our Golden Retriever, Rudy, loves her and Sam has really been patient with him. She has done miracles with his training and we are so thankful to have went with the Dog Training Elite crew to get our boy trained! I never thought I would see the day Rudy would be heeling, recalling and placing along with so much more with such ease. This team is the real deal and I would recommend them to everyone! Thank you to Sam and the team!

american bulldog puppies austin - Being a dog parent to a German shepherd is quite tricky. Its diet requirement varies in whatever life stage your dog belongs to. What does this mean? An active and growing puppy requirement is twice more than what an adult dog needs for the elderly ones. Most people feed their dogs with canned food, however there are tons of different types and labels out there in the market and you are hard-pressed to even know where to start and what to choose. We will also answer frequently asked questions to ensure that your German Shepherd dog get what it deserves. Whichever the case, your main goal is ensuring that they have a nutritious food that promotes healthy growth and energy levels, right? The problem is that the grains do not provide the same nutritional value as other forms of carbohydrates, and often cause digestion problems in your dog. Real Beef Is The 1 Ingredient: Some of the bigger named dog food companies have also started using animal byproducts, such as chicken innards, to increase the amount of protein in their recipes. These byproducts are not nearly as dense in protein as real meat, which is why Purina makes real beef their 1 ingredient. These recipes are loaded with the high quality protein your dog needs to maintain healthy muscle production. Crafted By In-House Nutritionists: Purina offers a wide range of recipes and flavors that contain no added preservatives or artificial flavorings. Caused Reactions In Overly Sensitive Dogs: While Purina went with a grain-free recipe for their Beyond Natural line of foods, some customers have also reported that it did cause sensitivity in their pets. If your dog has shown sensitivity to foods in the past, you should also keep this fact in mind. Buying Advice Purina has put a lot of time and energy into formulating their Beyond Natural line of wet dog foods. With a wide range of recipes to choose from, you can find one for even the pickiest of eaters. High Quality Complex Carbohydrates: Complex carbs, unlike simple sugars, give your pet a long lasting boost of energy. Simple sugars will give them a quick energy boost, but them make them crash, acting lethargic throughout the day. Because of their wide distribution channels, they make up for the lower price by selling more units overall. That means you save money, and can easily find it in most big box and pet stores. Cons Dented Cans: Ordering canned dog food online presents one major problem: the shipping process. Some of them were unable to be opened with a can opener. Picky Dogs Turn Their Noses Up: Even offering a wide range of recipes for you to choose from, some customers have also reported that their dogs still snubbed their nose at Natural Balance, and refused to eat it. When you have to feed more than 1, you may need to consider picking up a second job just to support their diet. Or, you can look at the IAMS Proactive Health line of dog foods that are making a name for themselves for being so affordable, while still tasting great and being packed full of nutritious ingredients. This slow cooking process creates a great tasting broth. In order to gain control over the infestation, you need to be able to stop new eggs from forming into adults, effectively breaking the life cycle. Their prices are some of the most affordable on the market, so if you are on a strict budget, IAMS is a definite contender that should be considered. With free shipping, you can save almost 50 cents a can, compared to what you can expect to pay in your local big box stores or pet warehouses. You can also consider setting up automatic shipping, and have new orders sent straight to your door each month — ensuring you never run out. Their Choice Cuts line of wet dog foods attempts to position Pedigree as a gourmet choice in the wet dog food market. Keep reading to find out! Pros Essential Oils And Extra Minerals: Each can is also infused with essential fatty acids, and extra vitamins and minerals to help promote strong internal systems, a healthy coat, and skin. Choice Cuts Of Meat: One area that Pedigree did address was in the inclusion of actual meat products inside of this line of wet dog foods. Irresistible Taste: A lot of the dogs that eat Pedigree are very fond of the flavor. Each can is cooked with the meat and water combined to create a great tasting gravy that your dogs will lick clean from their bowl. These percentages keep your dogs active without feeling lethargic, and have just enough protein to help their muscles burn fat, keeping them from becoming overweight. Mixture Of Flavors: If your dog happens to snub their nose at one flavor, there are still around 10 more flavors to choose from. If you want to give your dog a variety, you could feed them a different can every day of the week, and still have a few left over. Subscription Delivery Available: Ordering from Amazon gives you the option to have your order automatically refilled on the interval you set. Cons Includes Grains: A large portion of the ingredients in each can are, indeed, grain based. Pedigree uses a slick method of renaming different grain based products to keep the overall total from being the 1 ingredient on the back of the label. Causes Pickiness In Non-Picky Dogs: Some customers have reported that their dogs, who normally eat everything in sight, would snub their noses at the Pedigree Choice Cuts line of foods. For this reason alone, you may want to order a single can to test the waters before you start purchasing in bulk. Buying Advice While we commend Pedigree for making drastic changes over the last few years, we recommend you click on the button below to read reviews from other customers, and then make a decision on your own as to whether or not Pedigree Choice Cuts is right for your dog. Probably even your great-grandparents, for that matter. We all do, and your dogs will, too. Each recipe in the Alpo Chop House line of foods is inspired by the same dishes we all love to get at our favorite steakhouse restaurants. Contains Essential Vitamins And Minerals: A lot of dog food companies are more interested in their profits, which means excluding high end ingredients that give your dog the nutrients they need to thrive. Purina, though, uses only the highest quality, all natural ingredients that deliver exactly the vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients your dog requires to live a long, happy, and healthy life. Excellent Customer Service: Purina is not some fly-by-night brand who is going to take your money one day, and be gone the next. Cons Price Recently Increased: This is the way it goes with business. When you have something successful, the prices tend to increase over time. However, Purina recently doubled the cost of their Alpo Chop Steakhouse line of dog foods. Customers Less Than Pleased With Shipping: While not necessarily a reflection on the company itself, a lot of customers have reported receiving their cases of food with a large amount of dents in the cans. Regardless, we thought you should know that this is a potential problem customers have been reporting on. Each can of Freedom Lamb Dinner wet dog food by Blue Buffalo is specially formulated with real lamb, potatoes, and oatmeal, and is naturally infused with essential vitamins, minerals, and omega fatty acids to promote a healthy nervous system, brain, bones, and muscles. Recipe Includes Potatoes And Oatmeal: A lot of companies like to use low quality products even sawdust, in some cases as carbohydrates that help give your dog energy. Blue Buffalo, though, includes healthy complex carbs like sweet potatoes and oatmeal that both enhance flavor, and give your dog energy in between meals. Natural, Holistic Formula For All Dogs: There are zero animal byproducts like lungs, noses, hooves, ears, and eyes inside of the Freedom line of wet dog foods. These products are great for adding filler, but are not loaded down with the vitamins and minerals that your dog needs to stay healthy. The combination makes a great broth that dogs go crazy for, and it really extends the life of each can of wet food — especially when you have multiple dogs. You may need to wash your hands after you serve it to them. Buying Advice Blue Buffalo has a wide range of products that have all earned a reputation for being some of the best on the market, while still staying competitive on price. That means, for a growing dog, each can of Blue Buffalo Freedom wet dog food is formulated to promote healthy growth from puppy to adulthood. Another disadvantage with wet foods is that some manufacturers often add wheat flour, white rice or other grains as a thickener that makes it lower in quality. Nevertheless, wet food is also advantage in special circumstances especially when your dog is a picky eater, or if you have an elderly dog who have lost appetite and might find wet food more appealing. This is also good for dogs who have trouble chewing and digesting. Is a canned tuna good for German shepherd? Tuna is just not part of their natural diet. Another one negative factor about feeding our shepherd pups with canned tuna is the risk that we are giving them from mercury levels. German shepherds can eat tuna but you need to make sure you do it just on the right timing. For example, if your dog weighs 40 pounds, they can have it once every nine days or if yours is bigger, then once every 7 days will be enough. The amount of tuna that you feed them solely depends on the size of your German shepherd dog. How many cans of dog food should German shepherd eat? But what do they actually mean by that? Yes — it is true that our German shepherd dogs deserve a healthy and nutritious yet satisfying and generous amount of food, but please know for a fact that the said specific amount varies along the following things that we need to consider: Size — the bigger the dog, the bigger the appetite. Active and hardworking German shepherd dogs are most likely to eat more than what a couch potato German shepherd. Health considerations— Vets will recommend a good diet that would suit your senior or sick German shepherd. But to give you an approximate amount for your german shepherd dog with good health and fitness. Is it okay to feed a dog just canned food? This question can be answered by the dog parents themselves. Whether it is kibble, canned or home processed, each dog is different as well as their appetite. Some dogs are used to eating kibble alone, some are solely canned food while some others are mixed. Either way, just as long as you feed your pup the right amount, securing the quality of the food you give, not overlooking the nutritional factors needed, then your good is to go! Conslusion As the market is very much competitive against each other, we as dog parents are sometimes lead to being so indecisive of what to really feed our dogs. Along with the good intention to give your dog the best diet that you can give him, please always consider and never forget that good quality and good quantity is what matters the most. We surely want to be with our special canine family member the longest time that we could possibly be with them, right? Then, being a responsible and diligent dog parent is the key for this. Their bones are getting stronger and their muscles are being primed for a lifetime of activity. As a result, your puppy is actually going to need more nutrients now than they will when they get older. Many of this information is recommended and regulated by the Association of American Feed Control. You can look out for the small AAFO seal of approval on the packaging as a quick way to determine if a food is suitable for your dog. High Protein Content The most important thing your dog will need as both a puppy and an adult is protein. Protein is responsible for muscle growth and energy. This is higher than the 18 percent that adults need. However, we recommend going as high as 27 percent. Look out for ingredients like chicken, beef, lamb, and fish. Meat meals are also acceptable. As long as the protein is identified, it can benefit your pup. Avoid choosing foods that have byproducts or unlabeled mystery meats. They can do more harm than good. First, it acts as a source of energy. Fat is converted into usable glucose, which provides an ongoing supply of energy. Secondly, fat can support the circulatory system and skin health. However, this only applies to healthy fats. Omega fatty acids work to keep the skin supple and improve blood circulation throughout the body. One specific type of omega fatty acid, DHA, can even support the development of the brain and eyes. This type of fat comes ingredients like flaxseed and salmon oil. Once your dog reached adulthood, you can lower that amount to 5 percent. Calcium and Phosphorus Calcium and phosphorus are crucial for proper bone and joint development. Puppies need just the right amount of these minerals to stay healthy. Eating too much can lead to skeletal deformities and unhealthy growth spurts. Too little and your dog runs the risk of developing bone spurs and other ailments in the future. The most common issues that plague this breed are hip dysplasia and arthritis. With hip dysplasia, the bones in the hip joint did not form correctly. This leads to immense pain and difficulties in walking. Unfortunately, the condition can remain undetected until your dog is older. Having the right amount of calcium and phosphorus can do a lot to prevent the condition. Calcium is typically derived from dairy products or eggs. Phosphorus is found in meat products and organs. German Shepherd puppies need to have 1 part of phosphorus for every 1. As long as the food has this ratio, it should be good for your pup. Complex Carbs Carbohydrates are a source of energy for dogs. There are no guidelines when it comes to the amount of carbs needed for pups to stay healthy. Cheaper dog foods use fillers like corn, wheat, and soy. These should be avoided. Healthy alternatives include sweet potatoes, peas, and whole oats. These are all considered to be complex carbs. They have a low glycemic index, which means that they are absorbed slowly throughout the day rather than all at once. Complex carbohydrates also act as a healthy source of fiber. Despite their small size as young dogs, they can pack away a lot of food. The meals need to split up to ensure that your dog can process everything before they eat again. The breed is susceptible to excessive weight gain and obesity. Your dog needs to gain weight in a healthy manner. Otherwise, they can develop musculoskeletal problems. Furthermore, Bloat is a serious risk. Bloat occurs when dogs eat too much food too fast. Air gets trapped in their stomach, causing it to twist. At around six months old, you can start to transition to two meals a day. The amount of food you feed your dog will depend on their body condition and the calorie content of the food. Follow the guidelines on the packaging and consult with your vet to see what your pup needs. Which is Better: Wet or Dry Food? Wet and dry food both have their advantages. Once your dog is weaned off their mother, you should start them off with canned food. At 12 weeks of age, start to add in kibble. Slowly take away the canned food and proceed with the dry kibble for their daily meals. Kibble is your best bet as your dog gets older. Not only is more nutritionally dense than canned food, but dry food also has the added benefit of scrubbing their teeth as they chew. Canned food should be used as a supplement only.
