We had fast an informative responses on Facebook when we first enquired and booked through the messaging service. Cuddling and kissing the lady straight away. She looked beautiful and we will be returning for another pamper soon. Thank you for your very friendly and professional service? So mega pleased with how Loki looks after his 1st groom. .He had his first today and they were so good with him, he didn't want to come home. Thank you so much. My dog was groomed exactly how I wanted and Harry was super friendly. I have never been happier with how my dog has been groomed. Absolutely phenomenal customer service. Jodey put my dog at ease, and me, because to be honest, I was nervous about taking my dog Honey here because all other groomers have disappointed me. But not this one. Nicola Wain: First time going and will be the last. They have literally scalped her. My poor dog is literally bald.Utter rubbish. All she kept saying was we had to cut her short as the matting was really bad. I'm sorry but my poor dog is bald. Please do not send your dogs here, Rude and no empathy. My dog has no fur and all they can say is my dog was matted. They shaved my dogs ears without my permission. I was not happy and was in shock. They Cancelled 2 appointments originally. Should have listened to the people that told me not to go! Severe matting? You didn't show me any images, you didn't even call to advise severe matting, yes she had a bit of matting but nothing severe. I've shown pictures to other groomers and they agree I should have been called before you decided to shave her? Luckily for me I have images before I taken her in to you because of what people had said about your shop. I never said anything because I was in shock, she has never been this short. My husband was gob smacked. .Trial and error and her fur will grow back. The moral of the story is just pick up the phone and talk before you do anything drastic. Thank you. Amanda Noon: Well the lady said bring your dog for an informal meet and greet before seeing about getting his nails clipped as he is very nervous.I turned up at the shop as arranged, shop closed all in darkness. Belle and Poppy love coming to see you all. Always happy to help and assist. Jody listened to our concerns and has been amazing with him. The other positive from today is our dog has come home perfectly groomed and a happy boy. Jenni Cordon: Great place, great people. Lynn Jesson: We had 1 training session with Mo, he was fantastic, he explained everything really well and our dog is transformed. He is walking to heel, no pulling or reacting to other dogs, we are so pleased. Would recommend Mo without hesitation. He is now much better behaved, walks well on the lead and the recall is coming along nicely. Top class trainer. Clare Evans: We have just completed our puppy training package with trainer Mo and have loved every minute. Mo was excellent from the start and always on hand when I had any questions. I felt like it wasn't 'just 5 sessions' it was much more. Mo was very approachable and had brilliant tips and advice. I felt nothing was too much trouble. Overall an amazing start to our training journey. Doc Singh: We have 2 Alsatians who pulled on the lead, Mo and the team were very thorough, knowledgeable and often hilarious with their approach to sorting our the issues that were in hand. Definitely booking another session and probably more to sort out the matters relating to our dogs in due course. If you need a trainer who knows their onions, these guys are definitely the ticket. Trav an Mo are two of the best trainers I have came across a the knowledge between them is exceptional. The atmosphere at Vislor is always welcoming and a nice environment to be in, no egos just passionate trainers looking to help you on your journey. Highly highly recommended. Charlotte Poulton: Amazing work with the guys at Vislor. Really helped me and our pup progress together Sara Monk: I have been training with Trav since March '22 with my Malinois. Our relationship has improved so much and our partnership has really cemented. Trav has a super ability to think outside of the box and finds solutions for what best suits the dog in front of him. I would, and have recommended him to others. And hopefully we will be training with him for IGP for many years to come. We found Vislor and Travis and they taught us how to work with our dogs and made us understand why they were behaving like they were giving us the knowledge and tools to have 2 well behaved dogs. Plus having grained from Travis an exceptional insight into the mind set of a "working line GSD puppy. This will definitely not be the last we see of Travis and his group of trainers at Vislor as they have a mine of information far outstripping my 40 plus years of owning GSDs. Jonathan Ward: Can't recommend Vislor highly enough. Trav, Lorraine and Rich have been there to offer help, advice and support through the first few turbulent months of us owning a German Shepherd puppy! Rich has not only done puppy training lessons with us on site, but he has done a home visit and is always available to message and phone at any time of day to talk through any problems or issues we have! Vislor are a fantastic team and we will continue to use them as our puppy gets older so we stay on top of the training regime! I called and spoke with a lady called Lorraine who explained the types of dog training they do. I explained why I needed training and the type of dog I have. Lorraine said yes we can help, she sent me a link to their website. Oh 'wow', as soon as I looked at the website and read the reviews, I was excited to book my dog in. I did a follow up after following guidance. .I am truly impressed and so glad I came across these lovely professional people. Very reasonably priced. Money well spent. I would definitely recommend this company. Travis explained clearly what training was needed to achieve the objectives. The goals were achieved within a preset time frame through balanced training [i. I was updated regularly about the progress via WhatsApp. Any queries were answered promptly. Rather than putting my K9 in a kennel, this was time and money well spent. Highly recommended. After just one training session with Travis, he was quickly able to identify some of my short comings as a handler. We worked on gaining control of my 5 year rescue GSD on the lead, walking at the heel with out pulling. This was done remarkably quick. The difference is night and day, he is now walking perfectly on the lead. We had 3 lessons with Trav in total and the change has been amazing. She is such a lovely natured and friendly dog but she was an absolute nightmare around the home. Counter surfing, barking at everything. Her barking got so bad it was affecting her toilet training because we kept having to drag her in the house before she had done her business. That could be at 6am or 11pm. The methods Trav has taught me has improved her barking massively. And just her manners in general. Such an improvement. I booked the lessons so we could get some kind of normality and calm at home. Lewis Cozens: I cannot thank Trav and the team enough for the training they provided. Our dog had done lots of training, and was generally well behaved l, however he had a tendancy to just bolt if off the lead and would chase any birds he could find. After 3 sessions with Trav we now have a dog who is off lead happy and doing so much better all round. Trav has equipped us with the right knowledge and advice to help us train our puppy. I do my research and find what I am looking for. I make the phone call and the welcoming tones of Lorraine Foster greet me. I declare that I know she is the breeder of the animal in said series… she is bemused by my compliments. I make the suggestion that I purchase a Ridgeback pup and let Vislor train him for 12 months. We talk about my breed favourites and what I am looking for in a dog. I admit that a GSD would be second on my list of choices. One of the trainers from Vislor owns a Son of the GSD and he is preparing to let him go to the market. Photos and videos start coming through. The boy is stunning. Incredibly well trained in good manners, high level obedience and a qualified protection dog. I arrange to meet with the dog and other members of the Vislor team. I am very impressed. Travis insists on showing me the full ability of Fabio — this includes the dogs protection ability. I am stunned and now nervous. The animal is a thoroughbred. I am not even a beginner. I wondered if he was attempting to moonlight as a salesman. I was wrong. Travis was right. At every step Lorraine or Craig were on hand to help and make things simple. Little did I know that in the background the police, military, private security, and families looking for protection dogs are also expressing interest in MY dog. Vislor had made their decision; they wanted the animal to come to me and have a family life with me. They stuck to their word. I am not going to type verse and line on every aspect of the three day handover to introduce Fabio to my family and myself and to teach me how to handle, play, exercise and continue with his ongoing training. So where am I now? My wife greets the dog every morning with a smile and admits that he is better than we could ever have planned or expected Travis was right. The children love him. He is so reliable it is startling. He is the best behaved in the family — including the adults. My PA suggest that she has never seen me so complete and content. I am constantly stopped and complimented on the incredible animal by my side. Yes, I am in love however my affection, admiration and gratitude to Vislor is as boundless as my former love of Ridgebacks. They have gone above and beyond on everything. I would never entertain a Pup in the future without first consulting with them and then committing to some sort of residential training. Their pre trained animals are pure investment and tremendous value for money Jonathan Mulroy: We collected our new German Shepherd puppy, Tuddy, in December .The breeder recommended that we engage the support of a German Shepherd Specialist Trainer as soon as practicable. We started our lessons in mid-January this year, and we have learned so much — and we have enjoyed it all enormously. Craig and his Team work so well together in order to provide an excellent training environment. Our main trainers have been Craig, Daryl and Lucy, and we have also had Danny involved in many of our lessons. Thereafter our training has been carried out by Craig as well as Daryl and Lucy: this has been an excellent approach, since all three bring different skills to our lessons. It is quite obvious that they all have an absolute love of dogs, German Shepherds in particular, and their knowledge of training methods and their execution is beyond impressive. During the past six months we have made real progress with our puppy — now a strapping 35 kilos in weight. Whilst we still have some way to go, we are so pleased with the way he has developed: he now a well-disciplined dog, friendly and affectionate, and a wonderful pet to have as part of the family. In summary, this has been a great success and has been much enjoyed. The friendship, encouragement, advice and guidance we have experienced have been beyond our expectations. Thank you to Craig and all the Team! Michael Garner: I can't speak highly enough of Craig. He took our very anxious, fearful and reactive rescue dog and, in a few weeks, transformed him - he now walks confidently at heel through towns where there are many dogs, can relax at a cafe and even took part in a local dog show, none of which would have been conceivable before. More relaxed, he is much happier. Owners who claim their businesses can update their profile details, add photos, respond to reviews, and more. I'm not used to asking for help like this. I have two beautiful goldendoodle puppies, one named Parker that just turned 1 years old last Friday and the other named Milo that is 3 months old. They are awesome brothers and have been a lot of fun. Last Saturday evening Milo, in his puppiness decided to test the laws of gravity and take flight from the back of the car through the window. Milo severely broke his left hind leg up close to his hip. I immediately took him to the animal ER and have nursed him through the last couple of days until we could see a surgeron. That's right, Milo did it up good and needs surgery to repair his leg. A simple cast and rest isn't enough. We only have two options; get it fixed or.I'm not thinking about the "or" right now. Not doing anything will cause a lameness that just wouldn't be fair to him. The orthopedic vet hospital requires payment before procedure and I'm kinda short. I feel so horrible that this happened to him and am coming to grips that this was truly an accident. I love my pups to much to be neglectful and the windows are usually down a little until we get moving. If you can help I'd be eternally grateful; but even if you're not able to, please say a prayer for Milo and me. Read more.

Therefore, the best dog food for bulldogs should consist of plenty of high-quality proteins, enough carbohydrates to fuel their bodies, and fats for normal joint function and overall health. But just like us, dogs are individuals. So choosing a food specifically for their individual needs can be a little more complicated. For one, there are hundreds of different brands with different nutritional values that most of us would find confusing. And secondly, since each bulldog is different, they all have different weights, ages, activity levels, and preferences. Adding to the confusion, bulldogs can have sensitivities to certain ingredients and can be allergic to others. So to make the task easier, we have prepared a special guide for American Bulldog owners so they can identify which dog food will best suit their unique pup. Macro-nutrients or macros consist of three major groups of food; proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. We already have an idea about the number of macros we should feed bulldogs, but here are some details that you need to know: Proteins For an American Bulldog, proteins are the most important macro. Proteins consist of amino acids that help in repairing muscle tissue and provide lots of energy so your dog stays active. More than that, proteins also aid in the release of hormones and enzymes and help in strengthening the immune system, amongst other things. Because bulldogs have a muscular body, your dog food must provide enough protein to maintain their physical structure. Carbohydrates Carbohydrates are necessary for providing energy to your bulldog. The two most common sources of carbohydrates in dog foods are grains brown rice, oatmeal, barley and vegetables potatoes, peas. Although carbohydrates are important too, you should generally opt for a dog food that has lower carbohydrate content. Fats Fats are important as they make dog food tastier and thus more appealing to your dog. But more than that, fats are essential for the healthy functioning of nerves, body cells, and joints. Fats also provide almost twice as much energy as proteins and carbs. Daily Caloric Intake for Bulldogs The question of how many calories a bulldog should eat is rather confusing. The reason for this is because bulldogs can vary drastically from one another, and thus will have completely different calorie requirements. Bulldogs can weigh anywhere between 60 to pounds on average, and their activity levels can vary widely as well. They might be a puppy, or an adult, or even a senior. Also, they can be either male or female and might be spayed or neutered. All of these factors play a huge role in determining the right amount of calories your bulldog should consume without being under or overfed. However, there still is a standard measure of how much calories your bulldog should consume. Some smaller bulldogs might even be satisfied with fewer than calories, while some heavier and more active ones would require as much as calories a day to stay lean and healthy. But like we said before, it all depends on the individual dog. These can give you a good estimate as to how much you should be feeding them. Thus feeding them with the right frequency can help make sure they remain healthy and fit. Puppies are generally more energetic but have smaller stomachs, and thus need regular feeding to stay active. For bulldogs between the ages of 4 to 6 months, the frequency should be reduced to three portions a day. And once your bulldog is older than six months, you can follow the adult feeding regime which is feeding them two portions a day. Common Health Issues in American Bulldogs Although bulldogs are a healthy breed, they are prone to developing health issues at any life stage. Early identification of these issues can protect your dog from more severe problems later on by making the necessary changes in their diet and lifestyle. Hip Dysplasia, Elbow Dysplasia, and Joint Problems Hip and Elbow dysplasia is a degenerative health condition in which the hip or elbow joints fail to develop properly, leading to pain and even arthritis later in life. Joint problems are also more common in bulldogs due to their larger body size compared to their short legs. Although hip and elbow dysplasia is genetic and incurable, recognizing them earlier on can prevent them from worsening with age. Feeding them proper food along with exercise and physical therapy can save your bulldog a lot of pain and discomfort in their golden years. Obesity Obesity is a particularly serious issue with bulldogs. Because these dogs love to eat, they can easily be overfed. Obesity worsens joint and hip conditions as well as leading to many other health problems. Place your thumbs on their back where their spine is, and wrap your fingers along their midsection so that your hand is wrapped around their body and then try to feel their ribs. Foods You Should Avoid Feeding Your Bulldog Just like any other pet, there are certain foods you should refrain from feeding your bulldog as well. Some of these foods can cause stomach issues, while others are toxic for bulldogs. Onion and Garlic: Both of these are extremely dangerous as they can cause anemia in bulldogs. If fed in large amounts, they can cause organ damage or failure. Chocolates: Although chocolate seems like a pretty harmless food, it is severely toxic to dogs. Fruits with pits: Most fruits that have pits in them contain cyanide. In large amounts, this can cause seizures, vomiting and an irregular heartbeat. Some pits also pose a choking hazard to bulldogs. Macadamia Nuts: These nuts contain compounds that can cause vomiting, inflammation, and joint pain in dogs. Food Allergies and Sensitivities in American Bulldogs Just like other dogs, American Bulldogs can be allergic or sensitive to certain ingredients too. Here are some of the more common allergies and sensitivities found in American Bulldogs: Grains: This is a very common sensitivity and allergy found in bulldogs. Soy: Soy is another ingredient that can cause rashes and itching in bulldogs. Beef: Although beef allergy only affects a minority of bulldogs, you should take it seriously. There are plenty of other dog foods with proteins like lamb, chicken, and turkey, which you can choose instead. The content on this blog is not a substitute for veterinary guidance. Nutritional requirements of a American Bulldog What exactly should the diet of a American Bulldog consist of for optimal health? Protein from quality meat sources 2. Essential Fatty acids and omegas 3. Natural vitamins and minerals from bone and plant sources 5. Hydration — high moisture foods and drinking water 1. Protein When selecting what to feed your American Bulldog, choose a diet with high-quality animal-based protein sources, such as beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, duck, eggs, and fish. As such, protein impacts canine health in many ways, including: Providing consistent energy Forms new skin, hair, nails, and other tissue. Keeps the immune system healthy. Makes hormones, enzymes, and antibodies. Properly balanced fats are essential for optimal health, and also provide energy. Dietary fat we generally refer to as a triglyceride. There are two types of triglyceride, saturated and unsaturated fat. In balance, they promote a healthy coat, skin, eyes, nervous system, control hormones, fuel brain and learning, and reduce inflammation. Carbohydrates, such as vegetables and some fruits, provide fibre, prebiotics food for beneficial bacteria , and antioxidants that are lacking in meat alone. Dogs are carnivores, but they can benefit from some vegetation in their diets for optimal health. Natural vitamins and minerals A raw food diet aims to replicate what dogs evolved to eat in the wild. As such, meat, bone, offal and a small amount of plant ingredients are all important ingredients in the diet of a American Bulldog, each adding highly beneficial vitamins and minerals to meal times. Incorporating ground bone in meals or providing recreational bones for enrichment add nutrients that will support digestion, skin and bone health, and mobility. As such, water is a vital nutrient for all cells, systems and functions, including: The regulation of body temperature Maintaining healthy organ function. The digestion and absorption of nutrients. Detoxification; water helps to flush out toxins and waste products from the body. Preventing dehydration which can lead to serious health problems, including kidney damage and heat stroke. Lubrication and cushioning of joints, thereby supporting ease of movement. Discover more about a raw food diet for dogs in our complete. American Bulldog raw feeding guide Whilst you could create homemade raw food meals for your American Bulldog, dog owners new to raw feeding can often find making their own raw dog food meals complicated. Formulating meals with the appropriate ratios of key ingredients is essential to ensure your dog receives optimal nutrients, so going it alone can seem daunting. The good news is there is a much simpler approach. By choosing a reputable supplier of pre-prepared raw dog food supplier, you can stock your freezer with quality raw food meals at the click of a button. American Bulldog Feeding Chart. What should American Bulldogs eat? Because of their well-developed muscular system, American Bulldogs best thrive on high-protein and low-carb food. They can also be susceptible to allergies, so choosing a diet for your pet can take some trial and error. It all stems from the breed of your dog, and understanding some basic facts will help you feed your pet in the best possible manner. Diet Elements for an American Bulldog American Bulldogs have a highly developed muscular system that needs support. Before they were domesticated, dogs with a lot of muscles would feed themselves with animal-based sources that they can find in the wild. Sources of protein can be different but it is recommended that they should get one that is as close to what they would get if they lived in open nature. Protein from animal sources is the obvious candidate here. Deboned chicken is a good source of protein though since chicken meat contains the least amount of fat compared to other meats, and that is applicable to other bird meat like turkey. Lamb is also a great option for American bulldogs. Bulldogs tend to have chicken allergies. For your pet, Omega-3 will also help their cardiovascular system. American Bulldogs are highly active, and they should stay active to develop properly. High activity levels can put too much stress on their heart, and although American Bulldogs are not typically prone to heart diseases, it does not mean that you should not take care of that part of their health. Omega-3 is usually abundantly present in fish, which is also a good source of protein. Bulldogs can easily gain weight, and feeding carbs will only exacerbate this process. Starchy carbs can be found in grain, wheat or corn. Think of all unhealthy foods that you should minimize in your diet: white bread, sugar, corn syrup. All the same is also applicable for an American Bulldog. When choosing a dry food, look for the following: No Wheat No Corn No Grain Gluten-free foods can also be a good idea for a dog for the same reason: dogs did not eat gluten in the wild. Not All Carbs Are Created Equal Carbs or carbohydrates have recently become a new scare for those who follow nutrition advice. While starchy or simple carbs are not good as food, whole grains or complex carbs are quite beneficial since they contain most calories per gram, and calories are, first and foremost, a measure of energy, and your dog needs a lot of that. When shopping for dog food, look for whole grains, brown rice or sweet potatoes. Fruits are a great source of healthy carbs but do not overdo them. Fruits still contain a lot of sugar. Our bulldog, Daisy, loves bananas. We give a few slices to her as a treat here and there. Yes, you can hardly find a wild dog or wolf eating broccoli from a plate. However, even wild animals would sometimes feed on greens voluntarily, and that happens when they feel problems with digestion. Vegetables are the best source of fiber — a nutrient that supports the digestive system and makes it more efficient. Dogs can benefit from some vegetables in their diet for the same reason — it helps digestion, and protein will not do any good in that area. Usually, about percent of their daily nutrition should consist of fiber. Making Sure Your American Bulldog Eats Right Sometimes, you can follow any advice and do everything seemingly right, and still find your dog suffering from an improper diet. Only your dog knows what is right for it, only it can know what reaction your chosen plan causes to their bodies. Unfortunately, they do not have a way to communicate. Even if you choose the best meal plan for your pet, you should check for unpleasant reactions from time to time. Here is what you should check for how to adjust a diet appropriately. We have the ultimate guide to what bulldogs can and can not eat that you may find helpful. Bulldogs Are Prone To Obesity Bulldogs are always hungry, especially when they are developing at an early age. That is because they are normally active but living inside with little room for constant physical activity, their excessive energy can get stored in the form of fat. It will put an excessive load on their heart, ultimately reducing their health and lifetime. It will always look hungry, so make sure to portion the amount of food that it gets. Check regularly for excessive weight. While touching your dog, you should feel its ribs without pressing too much. If that does not happen, consider switching the meal plan to more moderate amounts. Check For Immune Reaction Unfortunately, many pets have their weak spots, and for American Bulldogs, it is their immune system. In case a dog gets the food that is inappropriate for them, the immune system will treat the food like an allergen. There is no way to say in advance which foods will cause that reaction — it can be any protein source that you choose. If you notice your bulldog does not eat well and does not feel well, that might be a signal that the source of protein that you have chosen is not right and you need to switch. Check out our article on common bulldog allergies to help guide you. Do not switch immediately. The best way to move from one meal to another at a slower pace. Simple carbohydrates like rice or blueberries digest more easily than complex ones such as grains which many dogs have difficulty digesting. Be mindful of the first few days The next thing would be to prepare yourself for the next few days. Remember, all young dogs form a bond with their family and a previous owner. Thus, separating a two-month-old Frenchie can be stressful not only to you but primarily to your pet. Whatever the breed, they still pack animals, meaning they need their parents to survive in the first few months. The separation from their parents can mean danger. Thus, it would be best to prepare yourself for nights of whining, howling, squealing, and restlessness. The first few nights might be truly tough. Still, try your best to hold on and put the puppy in a place where it will not feel alone. It would also be best if you make a schedule with your family for the first few days. You can decide who among your family will play with the puppy. Giving the pup plenty of attention will relieve the separation anxiety and make the housebreaking process much more efficient. Make the ride home comfy If you took your Frenchie home through a car ride, it would be best to make it as comfortable as possible. In short, it would be best to have someone to accompany your pet instead of leaving it in a crate or alone in the backseat. Getting a health check If possible, it would be best to have your vet examine the puppy while still with the breeder. This way, you can make sure the pup is healthy. For this reason, always make sure you remember and follow all instructions. This way, you can take care of your pet easier. A reputable breeder will provide you with feedback from other customers A reputable breeder would be proud to show the feedback and experiences of other customers. In fact, he or she will even show a connection to other breeders and vets. A reputable breeder would show his or her breeding experience. Due to the hectic lifestyles that many of us lead today, German Shepherds might spend many hours alone at home every day. Here are some of my favorite ideas. Give them the King of toys — the Kong. Kong toys not only help calm your dog but, when frozen, can keep your German Shepherd busy for a long time. Kongs are great for hiding treats or serving their daily meal and keeping them busy. Stuff the Kong with natural peanut butter, their favorite dog-safe foods, special treats, or even fill with a mixture of all. Most German Shepherds will stay happily busy working for their food. And, a properly stuffed and frozen Kong could take a lot of time for your dog to release all their tasty reward. Is it summertime and you need to help them beat the heat? Kong to the rescue for busy-time and summer fun! Not only can the Kong toy itself be filled and frozen, but for an extra treat fill a freezer-safe plastic container with low-sodium broth and water and drop your food-filled Kong inside the mixture. Leave it to freeze overnight. Then, take the toy and your dog to a safe spot where they can enjoy licking and chewing their giant-size pupsicle! Do you have a teething German Shepherd puppy to keep busy? Place their soaked kibble in the Kong and freeze for them to soothe their inflamed gums and aching jaws while they chew and squeeze away the pain. Want to know the right size Kong for your dog and how to use the toy to help solve and prevent behavior problems? Then read all about Kong toys for German Shepherds. Show them interesting sights and sounds. Some Shepherds enjoy watching the sights and sounds of the world going by. Others will bark at leaves falling. Here are a few stations that dogs generally enjoy: Animal Planet Discovery Channel National Geographic There are even YouTube channels that cater especially to dogs at home that need some visual and auditory stimulation. While watching these videos your German Shepherd can see squirrels, cats, birds, other dogs, and nature scenes — all while hearing the sounds of the animals along with calming music. If you know your dog gets upset hearing other dogs or animals, then look for calming music channels that play soothing sounds and tunes to comfort anxious dogs. Provide a search and sniff scavenger hunt. Did you know that sniffing helps to calm dogs and provides needed mental stimulation to keep their minds occupied source? Encourage your dog to hunt for her meals by hiding small piles of her kibble around your house in safe, easy-to-reach areas so she has to use her nose to find them. Scatter a couple of handfuls of kibble in the places where your dog hangs out during the day before you leave for the day or when you want to keep her entertained. You determine how easy or difficult you want the game to be depending on where you decide to hide the treats. At first, you might need to leave the food in more open areas as your dog learns to play and sniff for their treasure. Easy Scavenger Hunt larger groups of kibble placed in the open smaller groups of food placed under safe items groups of treats together next to items, but not hidden a kibble trail that leads your dog on a sniffari indoors You can make the Scavenger Hunt more difficult as your dog learns the game. You can also hide one of her meals in her Kong puzzle toy right before you leave home. This prompts her to associate you leaving for the day with a positive — as opposed to a negative — emotion and can help lessen the fear of being alone for her. Play a classic game of tug-of-war. Tug can help build confidence in German Shepherds when played correctly. All you need for this old-school game is a tough rope toy and some space to move around safely. To entice your German Shepherd to grab the rope, wiggle it like a snake, let her take hold of it, and gently begin tugging the rope. While your dog sinks their teeth and puts her bodyweight into the pull you get a bit of an upper-body and cardio workout. Plus, did you know that cotton tug ropes provide your German Shepherd the opportunity to easily help clean their teeth? In fact, research shows that playing tug with your dog is much more complex. In one study dogs handicapped themselves i. Tug, when played correctly and with rules, can build confidence in German Shepherds and help teach them more about your owner-dow relationship. Teach your dog a new trick. When was the last time you taught your German Shepherd a fun trick? I bet your brilliant German Shepherd would love to keep entertained by learning a new trick or obedience command. You can pick a hard trick that takes a while to learn or an easy trick that your dog might quickly pick up on. Or aim higher by working on naming all of her toys in her toy box so she can get them by name when you ask. Either way… Your German Shepherd is capable of learning almost anything that you take the time and patience to train. Remember, your German Shepherd is so smart for a reason. Whether you have a German Shepherd puppy or a full-grown dog, this is super fun to try! Even better… 6. Include plenty of play with their friends. Sneaking in a new toy for your German Shepherd can keep them entertained as they enjoy the surprise. Do you have a dog that loves to play with toys? Then help keep them busy by sneaking in a new toy to spark their interest and keep their self-directed play fun. Just think of how excited your German Shepherd will get when they sniff out their new toy! Also, rotate her toys every week or so to heighten the excitement of playing with her toys. Simply put away a few of the usual toys and sneak in another to replace the missing old toys. Then, rotate them again for a fresh perspective! Teach them how to stay calm. Even busy German Shepherds need to calm down to recharge and relax. Teaching a German Shepherd how to calm themselves and channel their energy into resting and relaxing is actually difficult. If your German Shepherd becomes nervous, anxious, or overactive when you leave home, try these ideas to help comfort them, especially puppies. Give a treat designed to encourage rest and relaxation, like these calming chicken and hemp chews. Use a dog pheromone diffuser. Use a dog-appeasing pheromone diffuser if you think your absence causes anxiety in your German Shepherd. Adaptil makes a calming dog diffuser for this specific purpose that is shown to lessen anxiety symptoms and promote calm. The pheromone released by the diffuser is similar to the one that lactating mother dogs emit to calm their newborn puppies when feeding. So, the pheromone is familiar to your German Shepherd and creates a sense of relaxation and calm. Place the diffuser in a room your dog generally uses or spends most of her time in. These calming tools are especially helpful to German Shepherd puppies who might be overwhelmed in their new home and miss their littermates and mother. Include a mid-day walk. Dog walking services are provided in many cities and towns to help you. The typical dog walking schedule for many working owners is in the morning and evening. But the German Shepherd Dog is a high-energy breed and will benefit from a mid-day walk to add some entertainment to their day. Many reputable pet care facilities include a dog walking service and will walk your German Shepherd with other dogs that are similar in personality if you like. I highly recommend that you also get a GPS tracker for your German Shepherd if you have a dog walker. Give remote surprise check-ins. With all the modern pet technology today you might be overlooking how to keep a German Shepherd busy remotely. Remote cameras are a great way to keep your German Shepherd occupied and surprised. They come with a protective case to increase durability, but they're not designed to be chewed on, so be careful. But if you like cool gadgets, have a few extra pennies in your piggy bank and want to keep your dog entertained, this is a great option. Puzzle Toys: There are a lot of high-quality puzzle toys on the market these days. Toys that your dog has to interact with to get treats or food from inside. I personally used Bob-A-Lot toys. They're hollow, plastic balls that can be filled with treats or kibble and must be knocked around to get the food to fall out of a spill hole. The best part is that the spill hole has an adjustable door for different sized treats. The door also can be used to control how many treats fall out when the toy is unsettled enough to dispense the goodies inside. But you don't have to settle for technology that I used a decade ago. There are many new products on the market that are just as good or better. Instead of you hiding and letting your dog find you, put your dog somewhere he or she can't see you and hide treats. Make your German Shepherd move around and use its greatest gift: it's aircraft-carrier-long snout! This is a game that all dogs will enjoy and allows you to not feel so bad about giving them snacks because they'll have to work for it. Pro Tip: Use a pencil and paper to write down the locations where you hide treats to make sure you don't find a random piece of kibble or a biscuit under your couch cushion 3 years from now. A Professional Pro's Tip: Use your cell phone to take photos of the locations and delete them after the game has ended so that you don't waste storage space on your phone. Moreover, you need to take time out to exercise your dog daily. Many GSDs get anxious when left alone, making it difficult, but not impossible, to work full-time while being the owner of a German Shepherd. But, in a nutshell, you should not leave your adult dog alone for longer than 4 hours, and considerably less for young pups. If you leave a dog alone for longer than four hours, you risk them engaging in destructive behavior due to boredom or separation anxiety. Nonetheless, the following contexts make it easier to work full-time while owning a German Shepherd: You have family nearby — If you have family or close friends nearby who can keep your dog company, he might not even notice that you are gone. You can leave your pet at a daycare — Doggy daycares can be expensive but are among the best solutions for full-time working professionals. You can take your dog to work — Very few professions allow bringing pets to work. You might not get any work done, though, unless you work in the Police K9 unit! You can go to work at a regular 9 to 5 if you have a German Shepherd as long as you know how to keep your dog busy in your absence. You should keep your German Shepherd busy with toys, treats, distractions, or other humans while you are at work. He is still delighted to see you, but not because he spends the entire day feeling abandoned. Here are a few ways to keep your German Shepherd engaged in your absence. Calm content or even an animated series can keep your dog distracted. I think she can relate to her breeding purpose! Otherwise, it might get knocked over if your dog feels threatened by the content, especially if he has a high prey drive and a program about squirrels comes on! In any case, this would be all part of socializing your pup. A puzzle toy can be a lot more engaging than idle observation. While most dog puzzles can have this effect, I like Outward Hound a lot because it is specifically designed for big dogs with separation anxiety and keeps your dog engaged. It is a pretty fun toy for your dog, regardless of whether you are around or not, and with almost , positive reviews, many other dog owners think so too. This could mean replaying TV shows you think will be safe and fun for your dog or actually recording yourself waving at your dog and giving him commands. I know it can seem weird, but it works wonders. Dogs have been proven to react positively upon seeing their owners on screen. I love this gadget as it has everything from being able to hear and speak with your doggo to tossing him a treat every now and again. A window can keep your dog pleasantly distracted in your absence. You just need to arrange a safe way for your dog to peer through the window. If you own an expensive breed — While GSDs are usually deterrents that stop intruders and prevent break-ins, if they are expensive enough, they might encourage people to get into your house. If your dog might be perceived to be in danger — If your GSD looks helpless and desperate, people might assume that he needs to be saved. Usually, people break car windows to rescue overheating pets. But someone might break your house window out of similar good intentions, even without significant danger. Drop him off at a doggy daycare. This is by far the best option but is not very accessible for some. The first barrier to entry is the cost of enrolling your dog. The second is the availability of doggy daycares and daycare spots. Families that own and love dogs can happily take yours in for the day. Such toys are easy to load, and you can teach your dog to fetch and load a ball. My article on training a GSD covers using positive stimuli to get your dog to learn commands faster. The treats better not be too sugary, though. The calories can add up. I recommend using pieces of kibble for this game. That said, your dog might not be very keen on a kibble hunt — unless he is hungry, of course! Put a food item your dog loves inside a bowl, fill it with water, and put it in the freezer. Once the ice forms around the food item, you can leave it for your dog while you are away. It will give your dog plenty of time to play and salivate. However, there is one drawback: the ice turns into water. Professional dog walkers charge about the same as entry-level professionals in the region. Still, the cost can add up if you get dog-sitting services. Every hour you make money at your job, you have to pay someone to take care of your dog. Adopt Another Dog Finally, you can try the good old, have a kid to raise a kid method. By adopting another dog, you can make your current dog less lonely. The cost of this depends on the dog food prices and the medical expenses in your area. It is a high-risk tactic as it is possible that your dogs hate each other, and you end up needing extra supervision. Make sure to learn how to introduce your dog to another pet and choose a pet of the opposite sex to reduce same-gender aggression. But if you have no option but to leave your dog alone while you go to work, at least make sure he has regular company throughout the day. GSDs must be trained to entertain themselves, so you must start this process early. Related Posts You May Like:. As a human, you can leave the house and seek exciting new adventures all on your own when boredom rears its ugly head. However, your dog is probably stuck at home when you have to leave for work or school. While it might be fine to take a nap or two each day while he waits for you to come back, there are still many hours left in the day where a bored GSD can get himself into some mischief. Sometimes that mischief can result in expensive damage to your home and belongings! He needs to feel useful, helpful, and appreciated. German Shepherds are also one of the most intelligent and most social dog breeds you can own. With a little forethought and some simple additions to your household or routine, you can keep your pup or older dog happy, healthy, and out of trouble until you get home. As social animals, dogs can be prone to separation anxiety. What does that mean? Separation anxiety is fairly common in German Shepherds. When a German Shepherd, or any other dog, suffers separation anxiety, they become sad, scared, or otherwise upset about the absence of their human companions. This can result in behavior problems such as barking, howling, and crying for hours, which can be disturbing to neighbors. Separation anxiety can also cause a dog to begin tearing up and chewing your belongings—shoes, clothes, and even your furniture, for example. It can also be so stressful for a GSD that he begins to have accidents in the house. The pups get used to this royal treatment and showers of love and affection. The sad truth is that some never do. They may see the separation as punishment, or they may become overly worried about you. After all, the German Shepherd takes great pride and enjoyment in being your companion and protector. Keeping your German Shepherd active and busy can help relieve a lot of anxiety all on its own. But they are also great ways to help anxious dogs feel safer and more in control while you are away. And that is exactly what GSDs love most: working! Some involve a little extra effort on your part and some may require new toys or special equipment. Not every suggestion will work for every dog or household, so be ready to try different approaches to find the perfect mix for your German Shepherd. There are many ways to do this, but here are some suggestions to get you started. Crate train your GSD early. Crate training helps dogs learn that the crate is their safe space. Do not use the crate for punishment. Always make crate time fun with toys, treats, soft bedding, and praise. As den animals, GSDs appreciate having a private, safe space such as a crate to help relax and reduce stress. Section off a part of your house for alone time. Your GSD should be taught that certain areas of your home are safe. This is a lot like the crate suggestion above, but it allows for more space to play and stretch out. This can be a bathroom, laundry room, or bedroom, for example. Start by using a baby gate, not shutting the door. Start slowly, leaving your GSD alone in a crate or safe zone for just a few minutes. Leave a treat or new toy with her, some food, water, and soft bedding, then walk away for 3 — 5 minutes. Do this several times in a row, piling on the praise and love when you return. After a few days, extend the time you leave your GSD alone, but always come back and give tons of love. When you leave toys, food, water, and soft bedding with your German Shepherd in his safe area, you are teaching him which objects are his, too. This can be a long walk or job, a rousing game of fetch, or a few rounds on an agility course. Whatever it is that your German Shepherd likes to do for fun with you, do that before you need to leave for work or school. Begin this routine well before you have to start leaving your GSD alone every day. Since dogs are pack animals, they can sense your stress level and your anxiety. Try to remain calm. Instead of being dramatic about it, just give your dog a normal amount of affection, put him in his safe zone or crate, and then leave. Do not look back, do not open the door to check on him; just go. The calmer you are during departure, the less likely it will be that your dog will become anxious. If you followed some of the suggestions above, you should be well on your way to achieving dog parent nirvana. It can be as simple as a box of toys in the closet that gets switched out every week or month. Simply pick up the old toys and put them in a box, then bring the new box down. In another month, you can do the switch again. Keep it interesting by adding a brand-new toy every week or so, just to keep Spot on his toes. If your German Shepherd is attached to one or two specific toys, keep them out of the rotation. Those are the perfect comfort objects and should always be available and within reach. Some common favorite toys include rope toys, stuffed animals, and refillable treat toys. Just keep an eye on your dog and see which toys she gravitates to during sleepy, relaxed times. Time for Television If your dog is used to hearing the television going or a computer running videos all day and night, this is likely a comforting sound to her. Some dogs like exciting shows with lots of noise, while others prefer relaxing shows with calm human voices or sounds of nature. Believe it or not, some dogs actually enjoy watching television, not just listening. If they still seem to enjoy the background noise, try the radio instead. You can either turn on regular radio stations, use online stations with specially created playlists, or you can queue up your own playlist on your computer or other device using songs your dog is used to hearing you listen to. The options are limitless, and the familiarity will help soothe an upset or lonely dog. Take a look at this article I wrote about German Shepherd depression — it expands on the benefits of playing music for your German Shepherd, and how different types of music affect your dog. Hide Surprises Many German Shepherds love hide and seek games with their humans. Too difficult of a puzzle and your GSD could get frustrated and unhappy. Interactive Toys There are a ton of great interactive toys on the market these days. The hardest part is letting your dog have a turn with them! These kinds of toys keep intelligent GSDs alert and happy. For example, you can use interactive puzzle toys like this series from Outward Hound. There are 4 different toys in this series, and 4 levels of difficulty — easy, intermediate, advanced, and expert. Take a look for yourself what all the fuss is about! Level 1: Easy.
They are outgoing, active and affectionate companions who have a lot of energy and love making their owner happy. They have strong retrieving instincts as they were bred to be gun dogs, so they love both soft toys and diving into bodies of water. It is highly unusual for the puppy's owner to care for them during this time and is best left to a responsible, reputable breeder. Your puppy's body will double in weight as their muscles, organs and bones develop. Nutrition During the neonatal stage, your Labrador puppy will get most of their nutrition from their mother's milk. At around 4 weeks you may wish to introduce a mush of minced protein such as beef, but always consult your vet first before changing your puppy's diet at this stage. Health During this time it is important to monitor your Lab for any infections, diseases or birth defects. Puppies are unable to urinate or defecate by themselves initially, so their mother helps them but may additionally require your assistance. Keep your vet's contact details close by and educate yourself thoroughly on this stage of puppy development. By the end of this period, your puppy will be mobile and will explore the world mouth first — be sure to keep choking hazards and toxic foods out of their reach. Behaviour During most of this time your Labrador puppy will be asleep or inactive, but they will soon be playing with their brothers and sisters. After weeks they will go through as much sensory development as a human baby does in a few months. It is important to avoid disturbing the puppies' mother as she will be likely be protective, but some interaction with the young pups is normal so they become used to human touch. This is a formative time for your puppy and will be when they learn to walk, play, bite, hold their bladder, and interact with others. You will soon notice their attentiveness to you and their intense love of play — many Labs keep this caring and fun attitude for their whole lives if you foster it. Nutrition During the weaning stage, you should slowly introduce into their diet a nutritionally complete dog food which is appropriate to your Labrador's large size and young age. Labs are notoriously greedy and will quickly gobble down food and snatch treats from hands. You should familiarise yourself with lists of toxic foods and plants to avoid and hide as your puppy will soon find ways to get into forbidden snacks found only in bins. Labradors puppies instinctively like to 'dig' inside their water bowls so much of their water will end up on the ground. Make sure to get your puppy used to touching inside their small ears as they are prone to ear infections and will need regular checkups. Behaviour Due to the changes in their environment, your Labrador puppy will likely be under a significant amount of stress. It's important that you provide lots of attention and positive reinforcement for good behaviour at this time to establish boundaries early. Labradors are eager to love anyone but can be overbearing, so you should introduce them to a number of different people and environments so that they are not overwhelmed with excitement later in life. PUPPY By the time your Labrador Retriever reaches puppyhood their personality will be well developed and you will have established a loving, social friend who wants to maximise time with you and others. Your Labrador puppy will do well socially and behaviourally from puppy training classes as long as treats are involved. Nutrition Your Labrador puppy's diet should be based around a high quality, nutritionally complete puppy food. You may also wish to introduce them to fresh, lean raw meat — however, don't feed your puppy any meat you would not feed to a fellow human being. Bloat is potentially fatal but can be combatted by feeding your dog two smaller meals per day, a habit you should start while they are a puppy. A rough guide is that they should exercise for minutes per day and less after 5 years when many lose their appetite for long marathons of activity. Your pup will need brushing every few days, with more frequent grooming during seasonal changes to combat shedding. Bathing should be infrequent as this can damage the waterproofing of their coats, however, you should wash them after swimming or rolling in muck. After around 8 weeks your puppy will be due for some vaccinations, so they will need a checkup at the vet and to arrange for boosters after that. Studies showed that dogs supplemented with a diet of bovine colostrum had a quicker and stronger immune system response to CDV vaccine as compared to dogs fed a control diet. Colostrum supplemented dogs maintained a higher antibody level even after 40 weeks A diet supplemented with Colostrum helps bridge the immunity gap in puppies that occurs between 3 weeks and 5 months of age. Behaviour Do not be complacent with training your Labrador puppy — almost all are very gentle and well behaved, but this does not mean that training is unnecessary. Labs are very loving and patient with all that they meet, but they often do not know their own size. To combat this, they should be trained in how to act around small dogs and children to avoid intimidation or accidental injury. They will also benefit from obedience training to drop things from their mouths, avoid rushing across busy streets and make sure they come when called. Recommended Articles. We may receive commissions from purchases made via our links. Once they reach eight weeks, changing to dry kibble food is best. We recommend feeding a Labrador puppy dry kibble for the first months before changing to an adult food type. But to remain healthy, owners should know what to feed them. Dog owners should feed a Labrador puppy dry food kibble , wet food, or fresh human food, depending on their budget and lifestyle. There are many options for food for dogs, and it can become challenging to determine which one is the best option for the dog. We have found the best options and listed them below. They help us with our daily tasks, are always there when we need them, and bring great joy to our lives. But, it is essential to ensure that our dog gets the best nutrition possible. They have a lot of energy and need to be fed accordingly. This includes the number of calories, food type, and the number of meals per day. We will explain all of these factors to help understand what to feed these precious animals. A Labrador puppy needs high-quality protein in their diet, so they should not be fed just any type of food. This is why we recommend three food options: dry food or kibble, fresh food or human food, or wet food. We prefer using dry food or kibble in most cases, but it is beneficial to start with wet food for young puppies and transition to dry food after a few weeks. Feeding a puppy human food is possible, but it can be more expensive and requires extra work to stick to a cleaner diet at this age. We have found it to be a healthier and more convenient option for our pets. It is also a good alternative to wet food which can be difficult to store and prepare. The benefits of dry dog food are that it offers the pup a balanced diet that doesn't need refrigeration. It also offers convenience because we can buy it in bulk and store it in the pantry or freezer until needed. Dry dog food is also less expensive than wet food, which is another benefit for pet owners. Fresh Food Human Food Feeding a Labrador puppy a diet of fresh, real human food is one of the best things to do for their health and well-being. It will not only make them happy and content, but it will also keep them healthy. This eliminates the guessing game; they are only fed real, natural foods with no unknown ingredients. However, it will become expensive and require regular cooking and preparation. Wet Food Wet food is recommended for Labrador puppies when they are first born and for the first weeks while they grow. It can be either raw or cooked. Wet food is a good source of water and minerals, which are important in the early days of their life to help them grow strong bones and teeth. It should be given to a puppy as soon as it comes out of its mother's womb, but it must not be given before it starts eating solid foods because it will cause diarrhea. Once they get more mature, moving to kibbles is best. It is known for its low level of grain and carbohydrate content and high protein content. Once they reach the week mark, there are better options to help the puppy continue to develop and grow. This food also helps with digestion and weight management. It also promotes proper bone growth with antioxidants and necessary nutrients like vitamin E. The kibble is also shaped strategically to help puppies who chew fast while helping with jaw growth. Overall, this is the best food option for a Labrador puppy. It is designed for all life stages, from puppies to seniors, and we love the benefits it provides to younger labs. It also contains omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, which are important for healthy skin and the dog's coat. They are large, strong, intelligent dogs that need a lot of attention, exercise, and food. These dogs can be picky eaters and usually need a lot of calories because of their size. This is especially true for puppies so they can grow properly and remain healthy due to their increased risk of health issues. Food Type Labrador puppies' most popular dog foods are kibbles and canned wet food. Kibbles are the best option for a puppy because they are easy to chew and digest. Canned food is a good option for pups who have difficulty chewing or digesting dry food and would benefit from a little moisture in their diet. The food type also depends on the owner. Dry food or kibbles are faster to prepare, while serving human food to a lab puppy requires extensive prep time. Nutritional Value When it comes to nutritional value, we want dog food that has high-quality protein and carbohydrates. This will help the puppy grow strong and healthy. This is why we need to take into account the nutritional value, quality of ingredients, and taste. It should be made with all-natural ingredients that are sourced from human-grade materials such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. A brand should have all the essential nutrients for a pup but still, be low in toxic elements and preservatives too. Dietary Restrictions Lastly, consider the dietary restrictions of the Labrador puppy before choosing a dog food option. This includes any allergies or health concerns for the dog and shopping for something that suits them best. For example, lab puppies must reach a certain carbohydrate and protein number daily. Labradors are also known to have allergies, especially young ones, so planning around this is crucial. A puppy should be fed at least three times a day, with a meal size that is appropriate for its body weight. They should also be given small daily snacks to keep them satisfied and happy, including treats to help with training. We feed our puppies the best that we can. We want to give them all the nutrients and vitamins they need. We also want to make sure that they are getting a balanced diet. The most important thing when feeding a Labrador puppy is that they get enough calories from their food every day. In the first weeks, the puppy should eat four smaller daily meals. Once the lab reaches three months, this can be changed to three meals per day. And after months, we recommend two meals per day. The key is not to change the calories much when the meals change but to simply modify the size of each meal to fit the total daily food amount. Feeding a Labrador puppy is not rocket science, but there are some things everybody should know about what to feed them and when to feed them. We have covered this basis, but changes need to be made as they age. This leads to a common question about changing food to fit the needs of a grown adult Labrador. The dog's age will determine how quickly they grow and how much energy they need. Lab puppies can stick with kibbles for up to 12 months. We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. As we all know too well, what we put in our belly has a huge impact on our health, vitality, length and quality of life. They have to strike a fine balance between getting enough nutrients to grow and avoiding an over-abundance that can lead to abnormal growth and disabling conditions. In this article you will learn precisely how to feed your puppy. What they can eat, what they should not, how many times you should feed them each day, basic information on home-made diets and the pros and cons of various commercial dog foods. The majority of Labrador owners feed their puppy kibble. Kibble is ground meal, shaped into dried biscuit-like pellets that are extremely convenient to buy, store and feed, providing everything a puppy needs in one easy to handle product. All the major brands carry a range of kibble and many are specifically formulated to suit the precise needs of puppies. For our recommendations of the best puppy food for labs, please read our article on: The Best Food for Labrador Puppies. Good breeders will supply you with all the information you need to feed your new puppy and you should follow this advice. Puppies almost always get upset tummies during a change of diet. The stress of moving to a new home is enough to deal with without them potentially having tummy upset on top. So try to avoid this. But expect your puppy to get diarrhea after such a sudden change. What Can Puppies Eat? With a bewildering choice of different puppy foods available, what to feed your puppy may not be the easiest decision to make. You Can Feed Your Puppy Kibble Kibble is ground up food, formed into pellets and dried for easy storage and convenience. It is a specially formulated, complete and balanced diet, containing everything a puppy needs to grow and be healthy. Many people believe kibble is the best way to feed a puppy, with it being so easy to buy, store and feed while containing every nutrient a puppy needs in the right proportions. Wet, Complete Puppy Foods Are An Option As the name suggests, complete wet dog food is complete and balanced, meaning nothing should be fed in combination. Everything needed is included in this one food. Complete wet foods come in individual pouches or tins with one pouch or tin containing one single serving. In the main these foods are low in nutrition, contain a high amount of cheap fillers, by-products and water and need mixing with a biscuit to give them some substance and to make them more complete. Because the food is such low quality, you have to feed a lot of it. And what goes in, must come out. This type of feeding was popular decades ago and I do remember my parents feeding our first dogs this way, but most people have moved on from this and are feeding their dogs in better ways now. Raw Food, BARF And Home-Made Diets Raw feeding is a diet that consists of mostly raw meat, edible bones and animal organs, though most practitioners also mix in small portions of fruit, veg and selected other foodstuffs. There are many people feel strongly that this is the best possible way to feed a dog. But I would caution most people that to feed this diet successfully, you need to do A LOT of research, gain a lot of knowledge and truly understand a dogs nutritional needs to make sure they get exactly what they need in the right amounts. Many people wonder if they can feed their puppy human foods, anything found in the fridge or larder. Furthermore, there are many human foods that are toxic to dogs that you should avoid at all costs. Too much of some nutrients can be bad in itself, but also prevent the absorption and use of other nutrients too. So supplementing a balanced diet is a bad thing to do. Can You Give Puppies Milk? Assuming you get your puppy at the recommended 8 weeks, they will have been fully weaned before you bring them home. Many puppies are intolerant of cows milk and drinking it leads to an upset tummy and diarrhea so you would do best to avoid giving your puppy any milk at all. One exception is for very young puppies under 6 weeks of age. When we have newborn puppies at our house we sometimes need to supplement and use Esbilac Milk Supplemen t. However, if you have a very young puppy that you think may need supplementing please first consult with your veterinarian. Are They Necessary? You will likely be feeding your puppy a commercially available complete and balanced dog food, in which case you certainly should not supplement their food. Supplementing this will mean too much of one or more things, making it unbalanced which can actually lead to harm. But an excess amount of calcium in the diet of a Lab puppy can lead to skeletal development problems. So adding a calcium supplement to an already complete diet can actually do more harm than good. There may also be times your vet advises you to do so. But if feeding raw, you should know more about nutrition than I do. This is a hard question to answer and sadly I cannot give you a definite quantity or weight to feed them each day. Puppies grow at different rates, some are more active than others and there can be large differences between metabolisms too. However… The biggest determining factor is how concentrated the nutrients and calories are in the brand of food you feed them. High quality foods are nutrient rich and give a puppy all they need from quite small amounts of food. But cheaper brands are full of low quality and nutritionally empty fillers that mean a puppy needs considerably more to get what they need. Start by feeding your puppy according to the guidelines on the label of the puppy food you buy for them. Then see how their body develops. Puppies should not be fat! But at the other end of the scale if they start to look and feel a little slim, up their portion sizes a little. The guidelines on the food you buy are just that…guidelines. You might also be interested in:. Remember, Labs do not have a natural food intake regulator so you will need to monitor them with portion control. Using a cheaper brand is a poor option at half the price. You will use twice as much and you will have to clean up larger amounts of waste in your yard. To allow for an accurate control of body weight and growth rate, this amount of food can be dispensed over 3 meals per day. After 5 months of age, the feeding regularity can be reduced to two meals per day with the commensurate increase in food quantity. The amount of food a Labrador puppy requires will increase then level out during first 14 months of their life. At months, their bone density is increasing and their growth plates are set. We do not recommend desexing you pup until at least 3 years of age. This allows for an appropriate development and supply of hormone which in turn produces proper bone, muscle and vital organ development. Table foods dispensed randomly to dogs are not nutritionally balanced. We do not offer our dogs table food at all. There will be no problems if you are feeding a puppy with a homemade diet but it should be prepared from prescribed recipes that are nutritionally complete and balanced. Diets consisting of an unplanned and indiscriminate mixture of human foods particularly including carbohydrates will likely result in obesity and even dietary-induced disease. When you Lab reaches 14months of age, it should be given an adult food that contains less energy and calcium. This will decrease the risk of obesity and orthopaedic conditions. And do not feed them coffee or tea as they can contain caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline. These toxic substances can dangerously affect the heart and nervous system. Onions, garlic, raisins and grapes can be severely toxic in labradors. Raw meat is potential source of parasites and pathogenic bacteria for your puppy. Eggs yokes are an excellent source of protein. Raw eggs contain an enzyme called avidin, which decreases the absorption of biotin a B vitamin. This can, in extreme cease, lead to skin and coat problems. Liver contains higher levels of protein, fats, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins. Raw liver can be a source of parasites and pathogenic bacteria. Excessive amounts of liver can cause Vitamin A toxicity. Raw bone chewing will control tartar buildup on a pups teeth. However, bone chewing can cause intestinal blockages and perforations. Never use cooked bones. Commercial Puppy Foods Most commercial puppy foods are designated for small, medium, large and giant breeds. This designation can be found on the label. Puppies of medium sized breeds are less than '25 kg fully grown adult body weight'. A full grown and lean Labrador will usually weigh between 25kg and 45kg. We feed our dogs at the 'lower' level of the recommended range. The 'Hills Body Fat Index' is a very helpful body shape indicator. The same food as the bitch You should feed your new puppy with the same brand of food as the bitch received during lactation. From 2 weeks into pregnancy, our expectant mothers are fed 'Royal Canin Labrador Puppy' food. Introducing a new brand of food If you are wanting to introduce a new brand of food to your puppy, then blend it gradually with the existing brand in increasing amounts over 3 days. This should prevent food rejection and any kind of gastric upset. It is best to choose a diet designed for large breed puppies. Selected commercial feeds should contain a limited percentage of filler compounds. Pawlinglabs uses Royal Canin Labrador as our preferred option. Growing labradors Labrador pups have a very steep growth curve, and their total daily energy needs do increase as they grow. Calculate the amount of puppy food that will satisfy that need. The feeding guidelines on the commercial pet food label provides an estimated quantity of feed for several different ranges in body size. These instructions will give you an estimated starting point for the particular brand. Medium or large? Medium breeds should be transitioned to an adult diet by 12 months of age, while large breeds between 14 — 18 months of age. Mature female labradors are medium and weight approx kg. Mature males are large and weight approx kg. Their calcium and energy content should not exceed that level recommended by a registered nutritionalist. Sound skeletal development Sound skeletal development in labradors is produced by the interaction of genetic, environmental, and nutritional factors. The phase prior to weaning and the growth phase, up to 14 months are integral to sound skeletal structure. Don't take your young pup on extended distance walks and certainly not 'running' until at least 18mths of age. You must avoid stairs and slippery floors for the same reasons. Their growth plates are set at about mths of age. Feeding and Overfeeding Large breeds like Labradors are the most susceptible to skeletal disease. Feed consumption, nutrients balance and feeding methods influence our ability to produce sound skeletal development and eliminate skeletal disease. Appropriate food consumption and nutrition plays a critical role in bone development. Overfeeding will not increase or benefit the growth rate of young and growing labrador puppies. And it does not correlate with optimal adult size. However, it does increase the risk of skeletal abnormalities. The vast majority of skeletal disorders occur in large breeds including labradors and they are associated with consumption of table food and an excessive intake of a commercial food and supplementation. The large breeds like labradors are limited in their ability to cope with an excess of minerals such as calcium. The result of this over consumption is abnormal bone development and skeletal disorders. Nutritional management will be critical in the to prevention of bone and joint diseases. In most cases, skeletal disease can prevented by appropriate quantities of feed in a regulated diet with optimal nutrient levels. A complete and balanced commercial diet is essential. Dietary deficiencies will be of little concern if your labrador pup is fed with a complete and balanced commercial diet. Brands like Eukanuba and Royal Canin are specifically formulated for young, growing labradors. There is real potential for harm by over feeding and giving additional supplementation. Housing safety and activity levels Housing safety and activity levels are under the your influence. Nutrition is also under your control and it is the single most important factor affecting the development of the musculoskeletal system. Energy, protein, and calcium are the critical nutritional components affecting skeletal development. However, if they are given in excess, they will be detrimental to normal bone and joint growth. Most pet owners feed commercial dog food. These prepared diets are balanced and complete. Pawling Chocolate and Black Labradors. The source of protein matters when considering a high-quality diet. FATS The rest of the diet should be made up of fats, carbs, and vitamins. Labs need to have a correct protein -to-fat ratio, where protein takes the lead. Dogs tend to convert fat into glucose, so this is an important source of energy. Dogs rely mostly on protein and fats, but carbs are necessary. That said, a low carb diet is best for puppies. However, you still need the right percentage of carbs, since this gives your dog the sensation of being full. These include starches, fibers, and sugars. Try to opt for more complex carbs like starchy grain and veggies because these are easier to digest. Your Lab puppy will thrive when his or her diet includes: Vitamin B12 especially during puppy development , Vitamins A and E, C, Vitamin D, phosphorus, and calcium, Potassium Each of these required vitamins and minerals contributes to a healthy, happy, and energetic puppy. They also help offset issues like obesity. Vitamins A and E are important because they help your dog burn calories and promote eye and skin health. Vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus, on the other hand, are part of a trifecta that works to strengthen teeth and bones. Potassium is a heart health-preserver. Labs with poor genetics are especially prone to orthopedic issues. Osteoarthritis and hip dysplasia are common health problems for this breed. Glucosamine, an amino-sugar, together with chondroitin sulfate, helps replace and support naturally degrading cartilage during old age. Recently,"grain-free" foods are being championed as a preferred and even high-quality form of dog food. That's, not the whole story. An investigation launched by the FDA revealed that there are potential links between a form of canine heart disease and grain-free foods. So far, researchers have provided an update to this researchers have provided an update to this research staring that the issue may not just be grain-free diets. Grain-free may be part of other trends knows as "BEG"- boutique companies. Puppy diets don't' need to be complicated. They also don't need to include ingredients that humans might enjoy. Enjoyment doesn't necessarily bring any nutritional value to your puppy's development. Keep it simple, using the guidelines for fats, proteins, and carbs above and don't shy away from food with grains in them. It's not their presence that's a problem it's often the ratio. There shouldn't be more carbs or grains than protein. Nor does including only legumes, seeds, lentils, or chickpeas as the primary ingredients make the food more superior. It's perfectly healthy to include complex carb sources like starchy rice and other grains. Grain-free isn't and shouldn't be a qualifying factor for your choice in puppy food. Feeding Your Puppy Kibble Kibble is dried, pelleted food that stores well is easy to eat, and is pre-formulated with everything your puppy needs to thrive and grow in his early developmental months. There are plenty of popular brands that don't measure up to the Snowy Pines standard. That's why it's so vital for you to learn how to read puppy food labels. Puppies should stick with "puppy stage" food, while adults should stick to bags marked "adults. Instead, your dog should have regular bowel movements, allowing them to absorb all the nutrients available. You should also keep in mind that caloric intake is calculated a little differently for puppies. Kibble diets are measured by how many calories the proteins, fats, and carbs represent for each gram. For puppies, this should be 3. Sticking to these ratios will help ensure your kibble choice is a healthy one. It's also important to note that kibble calories are often higher when compared to wet food. If it's high-quality wet food, it won't have as much fat to preserve it, which means fewer calories. You may have to supplement with dry food, especially if you're trying to keep the calories of carbs, proteins, and fats in the right per-gram ratio. How often and what time to feed I will show you the best puppy foods, whether dry, wet, or raw, and look at food safety, together with schedules, quantities and even a handy puppy diet chart. Best Puppy Food for Labs The best Labrador puppy food provides a diet that is nutritious, healthy, and tasty. So, what is the best puppy food for your Lab? Puppy kibble or dried food is the most popular option. Kibble is complete and can give a perfectly balanced diet. Puppy kibble and tinned dog meat combined is another common choice among puppy parents. Feeding your Labrador puppy on home cooked food or on a totally raw diet is also possible. Raw puppy food is growing in popularity, and there are pros and cons to raw feeding your puppy. People often feel very strongly that one way of feeding is better than another, and you can always find evidence to support your view. Dog breeders, veterinarians and even nutritionists have their own strong views. The dire consequences they list for not listening to them can have puppy owners very worried. The truth is that there is no good quality evidence showing that kibble is better for the long term health of your dog, or that raw feeding is better. There are risks and benefits to both, and the main thing is to ensure that your dog has good quality food to eat. Puppy kibble suits some better, and raw puppy food is better for others. Puppy Kibble for your Labrador Puppy food made into pellets is called kibble. An airtight plastic container or tin will do the job, although you should make sure it is food grade quality. Puppy kibble is the best way of feeding your Labrador according to most breeders and your veterinarian is most likely to support this method of feeding. Good puppy kibble will contain every nutrient your Labrador puppy needs in order to grow and remain healthy. The kibble pieces will be tasty, good for keeping teeth healthy, and free from additives that can provoke allergies or stomach problems. Labrador puppy kibble only needs to be fed next to water. Puppy kibble from a reputable manufacturer is intended to be a complete and balanced food. But some owners like to mix in canned dog food or even scraps of raw food with kibble. Your puppy is likely to get an upset stomach or to not have the right balance of nutrition when fed this way. Whether you decide to feed only with kibble or you want to mix it up, pick a good dried food manufacturer and stick with them. Feeding your Labrador puppy raw food has its benefits and drawbacks. One of the downsides is that there is a lot to learn. Here is a link to the articles you need to help you decide whether or not raw feeding is for you: Although I like the raw diet for my dogs, most puppies fed kibble go on to have long and healthy lives. Whatever puppy food you choose, the most important thing is portion control. How Much to Feed your Labrador Puppy? People often tell me how much their puppy weighs, and ask how much puppy food they should give him. Your Labrador is particularly at risk if they grow too quickly. The following diet chart is for kibble fed puppies and does not apply to raw fed pups. It gives you an idea of how much to feed your Labrador puppy Lab Puppy Feeding Chart The Lab puppy feeding chart below is only a very rough guide. The quantity of food you need for your puppy will vary depending on your puppy and on the brand of food you are feeding him. Labrador puppy food must be aimed at medium to large breed dogs. Check the pack carefully and look at the dietary charts. Ideally, you want the optimal protein content and the lowest amount of additives. Part of this always comes down to the cost. The healthiest puppy food is usually the most expensive and may not be affordable for some families. The Cost Of Puppy Food Some puppy food brands are more concentrated than and contain a higher proportion of proteins, essential oils, and other nutrients. The absence of these fillers means that you can often feed lower quantities of more costly food, making them less expensive than they first seem. You might also find that cheaper brands make your puppy poop more due to those extra fillers going straight through him. While some brands are beyond the budget of many families, it is usually good to buy a premium brand. High Quality Brands of Puppy Food Some brands of puppy food have developed a reputation for producing a high quality product and have many devoted supporters, including breeders that have fed them to generations of puppies. Although I am not a veterinarian myself, I have been a lab owner for 11 years and been in the pet food industry for the last 6 years. However, if this is not the case for your pupper, no need to worry. Be sure not to feed normal cerelac or cow milk as that will result in loose motion as well as stunted growth. At this tender age, you need to feed your lab pup via feeding bottle like you would feed a human baby of age 2 months. Milk is the only food apart from purified water which your dog is gonna need till 1. After this age, till 3 months you have two options. You can either continue with milk or look at starter food options like Royal Canin Maxi starter , Drools starter, Farmina Puppy Starter, Canine Creek Starter , Orijen puppy and plenty of other brands which are available in the market. The kibble for starter food is small and most probably, your puppy will be able to chew it. Certain dry food can be extremely hard to chew, so depending on the toughness of the kibble you might have to break i. Puppies of age 1. You should be following this diet of starter food till 3 months age at least. Also, make sure you are vaccinating as well as deworming your pup at the right intervals. So, a proper nutritious diet is essential to achieve good growth. You can either go for Royal Canin Maxi Junior or Royal Canin Labrador Junior or puppy variants of other brands like drools, canine creek, Orijen Puppy and Junior Recommended , Acana large breed puppy, pedigree not recommended at this age. If you are giving a good diet like Royal Canin, farmina or even home-made food, growth should be good. For those who can extend their budget, you can go for something even more premium like Acana, Orijen, Arden Grange and the likes. No need to add additional supplements. If you are feeding home-made food like boiled chicken which itself is a very good food option, consider adding some fish oils like Beaphar Salmon Oil. However, a good diet is recommended to ensure a good life span above 12 years and muscle development. Homemade food can be a healthy option as well. Feeding guide amount to feed in grams depends on dog weight and varies from brand to brand. You will find the recommended portion for your brand based on the calories it carries on the packet you will buy. At other times, you can give chews or treats but whole meal should be fed not more than twice a day. Do not keep food available in front of the dog except during his eating time. However, you can keep water available in a bowl all the time. Sticking to schedule regularly is recommended. Wait, till now we have been speaking about commercial dry food. Yes, this happens to many dogs. While some dogs like pugs are voracious eaters, labs or goldens can be extremely choosy. They will eat whatever liquid you put in the feeding bottle at this age. However, once puppies mature and learn to eat themselves, they may not like dry food, rarely touch it. In these cases, the best option is to first add a home-made additive with the dry food. You may add many things dog like in small quantities of chicken stalk, chicken pieces boneless for puppies , curd, egg and others to the dry food. Changing or trying out another brand helps as well. I have seen many dogs who hate Drools but like Canine Creek although they are manufactured by same company. Every dog has a mind of his own. Most common diseases of Indian bred dogs like canine hyp dysplasia, ear infections, bent hind legs can happen to any dog. Take your dog to a registered veterinary practitioner in case such situations arise. Lack of appetite is also observed during this age at times. For not-so-severe cases, you may administer Himalaya Liv52 syrup or tabs or other appetite stimulants of various brands twice a day for days. In case, your dog has gastrointestinal disorders, referring to a prescription diet under the guidance of a veterinarian can be immensely helpful. This entry was posted in Pet Blog. This specialised care is usually left to trained breeders or veterinarians, who are knowledgeable in caring for pups with no mother to nurse from. If you have recently brought a Labrador puppy into your family, they are most likely older than 8 weeks, and so have started to eat solid foods. You can do this by mixing some dry food with specially formulated puppy milk to form a soft mixture. You can feed your puppy this mixture three to four times a day. Over time, you can reduce the amount of milk you include in this mixture, until they are at the point where they are happily eating dry foods. Read on to learn how much you should feed a Labrador puppy as they get older. In their four months living with you, and once they are weaned off milk, Labradors are likely to reach almost half their adult weight. They will reach their full adult weight by the time they are 6 to 7 months old. With this rapid growth can come some risks. Labradors can be susceptible to bone growth disorders, like hip dysplasia and joint abnormalities that can start in puppyhood. Once your Lab puppy hits 6 months, their growth begins to slow down. Once puppyhood is over, you can move to feeding your lab twice a day instead of 3 or 4 times. Labs are still very active in their adolescent years, and so should be fed with this in mind. The transition from puppy food to adult food should happen at around 15 months. This is because, being a breed who grows very quickly, you want to ensure that you are feeding them according to their large breed needs. You need to take special care when considering what you should feed your Labrador puppy, as they require different nutrients compared to their adult counterparts. It is also dangerous for a puppy to overeat. Labradors are large breeds, which means they need plenty of nutrients and calories as they grow to ensure they go from being active puppies to healthy adult dogs. Labrador puppies need to eat food that is high in proteins and fats. Carbohydrates are also essential for supporting your active pup. Aside from nutritionally complete dry puppy food, Labrador puppies can benefit from the extra protein that raw meat can provide them with, such as lean beef, turkey, chicken, or fish. The amount of food you give your Labrador is determined by their weight, energy levels, and age. For most adult Labradors, around 1, to 2, calories per day from high quality food sources is ideal. Female Labradors, who tend to be around 5 to 10 kilos lighter than males, may need less food, as will less active dogs. Dogs who need less food, whether they are less active or simply older, will usually still need around 1, to 1, calories per day. You may want to alter the amount of food you are feeding your Labrador based on how calorically dense their food is. Adult Labradors should be fed twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Their daily allotment of food should be split evenly between these two meals. For most dogs, it is recommended that you exercise your dog before meal times to assist with potty training. However, some dogs may benefit from exercise after eating: especially high energy Labs with a lot of energy to burn off. You should also try to give your Labrador a high quality food that is specially designed for large breeds, especially if they are very active. For example, less active senior dogs will need to eat less food as they will not be burning calories as quickly as a lively little puppy will. Senior dogs may benefit from a higher fibre and lower calorie diet. Your dog may also develop chronic or short term medical conditions that require specially formulated food. For example, Labradors can be particularly susceptible to obesity. As a breed, they tend to be one of the most commonly obese dogs in Australia. This is due to several factors, including a genetic predisposition to unhealthy weight gain and a famously large appetite. However, plenty of Labs suffering from obesity are simply overfed and not getting enough exercise. Choosing a low carb diet is crucial to preventing obesity in your Labrador. If you are unsure about what you should feed your Labrador, you should always consult your vet. They will be able to determine if your dog is suffering from any chronic health issues, and they will be able to create a nutritional plan to help keep your dog healthy and happy for many years to come. Wet food for Labradors is often high in protein and fat, and is better at keeping your dog hydrated than other food sources. Chewing on dry food can be especially good for teething Labrador puppies. A raw diet can be a good option for your Labrador as you have more control over the kinds of food and amount of nutrients your pup is consuming. For this reason, raw diets require a lot more work on your part as an owner. Whatever you decide to feed your Labrador, all dogs need a similar ratio of nutrients in their diets. Different dog breeds will need different kinds of nutrient support as they go through the various stages of their life. It can also be easy to overestimate the amount of food your Labrador needs to stay fit and healthy — especially if they are skilled at begging! You need to make sure that your dog is eating the right amount of food for their breed, their size, and activity level. You should also avoid foods that, while delicious for humans, can be harmful or toxic for dogs. Foods like onions, nuts, alcohol, cooked bones, and artificial sweeteners are commonly included in dinners meant for humans, but can cause serious health issues for your Labrador. No matter how old your Lab is, it is important to keep to a consistent feeding schedule. A feeding schedule can help you keep track of any changes in behaviour around food that might signal illness or physiological stress.
Sometimes called a Bull-Pug, the Miniature Bulldog is a cross between an English Bulldog and a Pug, Puggle, or French Bulldog to create a smaller size bulldog that will be perfect for your family. English Bulldogs were bred to bait, guard, and control bulls while Pugs have been companions to royals since about BC. They are peaceful and get along well with animals and people. You may find that some males are territorial or try to display dominance or aggression toward other male dogs. By nature, Bulldogs may occasionally display overprotective behaviors, but early training and socialization can help you manage it. They can be stubborn and slow during training, but they retain what they learn well. It frequently has a shortened muzzle like both parent breeds, which can sometimes lead to difficulty breathing especially in extreme temperatures. Eyes are dark, large, and round, and ears are thin and small and hang in a rose or button configuration. Mini Bulldogs have sleek and short, smooth and glossy coats that shed moderately but almost never tangle or mat. Black and fawn is the most common coloration, but you can also see brindle, red, and white. Typically this breed will be about 15 inches tall and weigh 15 to 45 pounds. They are not likely to ask for walks, and you may even find your pup to be lazy! But some daily exercise is crucial to keep these naturally thick-set dogs from becoming obese. Obesity runs in both parent breeds, so Mini Bulldogs are especially prone to putting on unhealthy weight. We recommend 30 minutes of activity per day and about 2 miles walking per week. Take care when exercising because their shortened muzzle makes them particularly sensitive to extreme temperatures. Charming doesn't quite cover it, but trust us, he's very easy to love! His coat is wavy fleece and so far has remained a true deep chocolate. We love his white little beard and his tiny size. Ollie weighs 23 lbs. He has a fantastic fleece curly coat, which is the perfect compliment to our girls loose wavy coats. He has a caramel ice wavy fleece coat and a beautiful teddy bear face with dark eyes and a black nose. We are so grateful to have this boy in our breeding program. We are absolutely thrilled with his good looks and fun temperament. He is always happy, ready to play and ready to cuddle. We are grateful to have this handsome boy in our breeding program. He has gorgeous parti markings with lots of white. Thanks to Butch Charlton with Downunder Labradoodles for this precious addition to our family. What a great addition to our dogs. The father is a Mini Poodle and the mother is an F1 Labradoodle. The F1B Minature Labradoodles usually have soft hair that is usually wavy or curly. Thes puppies are considered semi-hypoallergenic since they shed minimally. These puppies can be a good fit if a person that has mild pet allergies. Once F1B Mini Labradoodles reach 6 months old they require to be groomed once every 8 weeks or so to keep their fur healthy and to stop matting. Adult F1B Mini labradoodle dogs range in size from 14 inches in height and pounds in weight. The average life span is typically years of age. The F1BB puppies usually have curlier coats and will be totally hypoallergenic. Once the F1BB pup is 6 months they will need regular grooming every 6 to 8 weeks. F1BB Puppies are usually slightly smaller than F1B puppies and range from 12 inches in height and pounds in weight. Mini Labradoodles are known for their intelligence and the ability to be trained very easily. They make amazing family pets and love to participate in family activities like swimming, hiking, camping or just playing tag in the yard. This breed is also a good choice for people who live in apartments as long as they get at least minutes of exercise a day. Our diligent work with young puppies contributes to an easy transition into their forever homes. At Texas Australian Multigenerational Labradoodles, we produce 4th generation Australian Labradoodles or later generations we do not have any of the early generation Labradoodles as their temperament, coat, and comfortation can be very unpredictable. Our Doodles are selectively bred for many generations to produce allergy-friendly, intelligent, easy to train puppies with gentle temperaments and exceptional beauty. Their coat is non-shedding and odor-free and works well with allergy sufferers. Our labradoodles are loved and well-socialized, which makes them perfect dogs for families with young children and homes that have other pets. Our Doodles are also perfect candidates for service, therapy, and companion dogs due to their intelligence as well as gentle and affectionate disposition. Our Australian Sheepadoodles are carefully bred by pairing our fabulous Old English Sheepdogs and extraordinary Multigenerational Australian Labradoodles. We are the only breeders that have paired these incredible breeds to create astonishing puppies who consistently deliver allergy-friendly silky coats, calm temperaments, and overall great confirmation. Our Doodles are loved and well-socialized which makes them perfect dogs for families with young children, first time pet owners, and families with other pets. However, our small size ensures that we are able to pay close attention to each of our Doodle puppies to ensure that they get the stimulation and the attention to reach their developmental milestones. Simply put, there are no puppies left behind at Texas Australian Labradoodles and Australian Sheepadoodles. The public is slowly recognizing the value of smaller programs that do not mill their puppies and a handful of Australian Labradoodle Breeders in the US are following our footsteps and cutting the number of adult doodles in their program so that they do not have to be housed in kennels. Although all puppies are beautiful and can enrich the life of any family through their unique personality, we love the Australian Labradoodle and Australian Sheepadoodle puppies!
