Our dogs are carefully chosen from lines that have been researched for sound temperaments plus hereditary diseases and conditions. All of our parents must conform to the AKC standard for the breed. They have completed heart, eye, elbow, and hip exams. We are also completing DNA screening and working with other lines that have been DNA screened to help ensure pups are not affected by genetic conditions common to our breed. This allows our puppies' new families to be confident that their pup's health has been built upon continued high documented standards. Lower jaw to be undershot, lower front canines should not protrude when mouth is closed. Nose to be medium to large size, with wide open nostrils and fully colored this can be overlooked in puppies under 6 months of age. Eyes to be round or almond shaped, not narrow or bulging. This is not a Mastiff head. The dog should be fit enough to maintain a normal body temperature during a dog show and various activities. Clean, easy breathing is essential. The chest and ribs are broad, wide and rounded, but not so broad as to give the dog a flat chested appearance in repose. Not so rounded as to cause poor movement in the forearms. Ribs are well sprung, blending into good tuck up of abdomen. There should be a smooth flow from top of head; back to tail. There can be a slight dip behind the shoulder blade at the withers; a level back is preferred. The front legs are to be medium to large boned and straight from elbow to foot. Well defined muscles from neck to shoulder fully muscled to mid-section of leg. Dog should be able to free stack with forelegs in proper straight down beside the chest positions. Elbows to be placed straight down from withers beside the chest wall, not in front. You should see more chest in front of forelegs when viewed from the side. Feet to be large and up off pasterns. Feet to resemble a cat's, not flat or splayed. You should not see any flat area from the top of the foot. Hips should be as wide as front of dog. There should be a gentle slope leading to tail base. When viewed from behind, rear legs should come straight down from the hip, muscular, causing the feet of rear legs to be directly in line with front legs. Rear legs to be angulated at a degree angle, perpendicular to the ground, and well-muscled. Equal density of bone and mass as the front of the dog. The tail is thick and full, may be wrinkled preferred and should come to a tapered end. The Amitola Bulldog should move with a purposeful stride, not lumbering or sluggish. Bone and weight should be balanced allowing dog to carry weight easily. The front and rear legs should move in a straight line without toeing in or out. Temperament The Amitola is bred to be moderately wrinkled, have plenty of mass but have an athleticism making it capable of normal activities, swimming, weight pull, surviving the extreme heat in the South and other parts of the country. They are not bred for protection, although they are loyal and loving. They do have a natural guarding ability. The Amitola thrives on being part of the family. They adore their owners, and love people but yet still have the tenacious nature of the Bulldog. They need leadership and respond well to training. This dog is being created to serve as an all-around companion animal. Bred to be calm and watchful, yet with strength and stamina to work, when and if desired by the owner, the Amitola should be able to do agility work as well as weight pulling. There is always the chance for an emergency to occur, however C-sections are not to be considered normal. They should be rare and almost unheard of. The shape of the Amitola is one of equal proportions so the shoulder width is equal to that of the hips, allowing the birth of the Bulldog babies; heads. The Amitola males, like most Bulldogs, have no problems wanting to breed. Stamina and structure made breeding next to impossible with most English Bulldogs. The Amitolas are in great physical condition, not too heavy for the female and also toned enough for stamina in breeding. Living Conditions Will do okay in an apartment if it is sufficiently exercised. They are relatively inactive indoors and will do best with at least an average-sized yard. Exercise The Amitola Bulldog needs to be taken for a long daily walk. Comb and brush with a firm bristle brush, and bathe only when necessary. This breed is an average shedder. Spookaliers are compatible with a variety of people who will provide love and attention to their new addition. Spookaliers are a mix in appearance between a Cavoodle and Spoodle, some inherit the short Cavalier, teddy-like face, and others the beautiful lone and elegant Spaniel ears. They are a very unique breed and are only very few in Australia as we are the only Spookalier breeders! The Spookalier is the perfect pet for any family, the Spaniel allows pups to be quite active but the Cavalier mix also provides a very placid aspect. Spookaliers love to socialise with other dogs and children. This breed is reasonably active, requiring regular walks and trips to the park but would also be quite happy to chill out in the yard with small children. Therefore, it is impossible to predict the exact size a pup will grow. Spookaliers can be a variety of sizes depending on the most dominant gene in each pup. Spookaliers will be a small sized breed approximately, kg and up to 40cm in height. Spookalier Maintenance and Other Needs Spookaliers are a semi long haired breed that can either grow curly, wavy or straight, in a fleece coat depending on the genetic contributions of each puppy. They are a low to non-shedding breed that require regular exercise and would be content in an apartment or small yard. Spookaliers as with most puppies can be very energetic so it may be best to go for a walk or exercise before teaching them new tricks. The amount of grooming required is very dependent on the type of coat each individual pup inherits. All Spookaliers will require some form of grooming and clipping, especially those with a curly, non-shedding coat, as it will not fall out. However, low shedding pups will not require as much maintenance, just regular brushing and the occasional clip. Dogs with a more predominantly poodle type coat also need regular brushing to prevent knotting. Spookalier ears, as with all long-eared dogs, need cleaning regularly to prevent infection. Also, around the eyes should be cleaned daily to prevent buildup of eye discharge. The Spookalier is perfect for most family lifestyles and are beautiful little dogs. They can grow up to the size of a Cocker Spaniel, however, are generally smaller than this due to the Cavalier and Toy Poodle mix. They are small to medium-sized dogs, typically weighing between 15 and 30 pounds. Cavapoos have a soft, wavy coat that can be either curly or straight. They come in a variety of colors, including black, white, brown, and cream. Cavapoos are known for being friendly, intelligent, and easy to train. They are also relatively low-maintenance dogs, making them a good choice for first-time dog owners. Cavapoos are good with children and other pets, and they make great companion dogs. PRA is a genetic condition that is not curable, but there are treatments that can slow the progression of the disease. Luxating patella is a condition in which the kneecap slips out of place. Luxating patella is often treated with surgery or physical therapy. Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that causes seizures. Epilepsy can be controlled with medication, but it is not curable. Syringomyelia is a condition in which fluid builds up in the spinal cord. Dental problems are common in all dogs, but they are especially common in Cavapoos. Cavapoos are prone to tartar buildup, which can lead to gum disease and tooth loss. Allergies are also common in Cavapoos. Allergies can cause a variety of symptoms, including skin problems, ear infections, and respiratory problems. Your vet can help you develop a care routine that will keep your dog healthy. Cavapoos are somewhat prone to weight gain, and they can have heart issues if they do not maintain a healthy weight. The peak of Atlantic hurricane season is here which is why it's important to take some time to reflect on disaster preparedness. As unlikely as it may seem, a disaster can strike at any moment. Whether it's a fire, tornado, hurricane, flood, or blizzard, it's critical to be prepared and have a plan in place. Unfortunately, pets are sometimes unintentionally left out of their owners' disaster preparedness plans which makes it difficult to know what to do with them during an emergency. Luckily, you can plan ahead for your pets using these tips: Listen to your veterinarian Make sure your pet wears a collar with up to date information on it, get them microchipped, and have them vaccinated. These recommendations will come in handy during a disaster and help you avoid any potential pitfalls, such as being unable to get into a shelter with an unvaccinated pet or losing them during an evacuation. If possible, take your pet's medical records with you and attach their rabies tag to their collar. Find out which shelters allow pets Do some research into where you can safely evacuate with your pet during a state of emergency before a disaster occurs. I never had a male or a mixed breed before so I did not know what to expect. Finnie settled right in and is a wonderful companion and friend to furry sibling Gracie. Finnie took some training but I knew in time he would be a great dog and he is a great dog. He is very different than the other dogs in my life but he is so much fun to have with us. He loves people and gets very excited with everyone and will jump up in the air like an acrobat we are working on that , but a great dog. I would encourage everyone to think about a mixed breed. In this article Standards for Labrador Tails For a Labrador to be considered part of certain breed classifications, dogs must meet specific established standards. There is an extensive list of characteristics a dog must have, and cannot have to qualify as a particular breed. Docked tails or tails that curl over to touch the body do not meet the AKC standards for a Labrador's tail. The standards give further details on what the tail should look like. Slowly, he's starting to get used to his legs. He's also becoming a bit of an internet celebrity, which his own Facebook page set up. His happy, can-do attitude has won him more than followers. But while the odds have been stack against him since before he was born, Nubby's not giving up easy and he's not taking life laying down.
