Be careful of this website Be careful of this website, it's an advertising website and if you have a problem with a puppy the reviews are moderated, I purchased a French bulldog and drove 6 hours to the breeders home in paradise pa named Omar and Maime Blank after staying in a hotel and arriving the next morning, I was told of several health issues including a knee that pops out according to the vet check and three hernias. My son was waiting and I did not gave the heart to tell my ten year old son we didn't get the puppy. The breeders know it was for my young son, and said nothing about the health issues in any way, knowing that after I travelled I would probably buy the puppy if my son was with me as I said he was excited. I was not offered s discount in anyway and the health guarantee was changed from One year to one month. As my son held the puppy in his hands with a smile I just bought the puppy and could not hurt my son as we recently lost a pet as we told the breeders. These heartless breeders should not be allowed on greenfield and I will tend to my expenses as I will keep this puppy and endure the expenses but the fact is these people are very dishonest. I thought the Amish were known for being honest, I guess not I'm Naive. Date of experience: April 28, LL. Made-up ratings and puppy mill dogs Greenfield Puppies does promote mass produced dogs, which might not be illegal, but not something you are looking for. Please, look for critical reviews, and distinguish between a cute puppy and a good breeder: We bought a puppy from Mr Stoltzfoos on Greenfield Puppies. The dog is obviously wonderful, and we love him very much. However, in hindsight there are many signs that Mr Stoltzfoos is a mass producer of puppies which might not receive the care from him you'd expect. First of all, he offers multiple breeds and many puppies. Then he doesn't show you the parents or the place the puppies are kept. He is also highly transactional, and the overall in-person experience seemed somewhat staged. Finally, he uses a relative to do the medical exam. Please, judge for yourself and read up about Amish puppy mills before buying here. If you already bought one from him, observe if your puppy has behavioral e. We had all of them. Life Span Did You Know? A Labradoodle is a popular designer dog breed. It is a cross between a Standard Poodle and a Labrador Retriever. This designer dog breed originated in Australia around .The main goal of the Labradoodle was to create a hypoallergenic guide dog for people living with disabilities who were also allergic to dog fur and dander. Now, they are still a popular choice for service, guide, and therapy dogs and are also a popular companion dog. Labrador Retrievers and Poodles are both friendly, gentle, intelligent, and affectionate dog breeds. The Labradoodle tends to be similar. They are open and friendly and crave human attention and affection. They are happiest when they are with people. Labradoodles also tend to have an energetic and playful personality. They get along well with children, other dogs, other pets, and strangers. They are alert enough to bark or let you know when someone is at the door, but they are not generally good watchdogs or guard dogs as they are more interested in making friends. A Labradoodle is a highly adaptable dog breed. They do very well in homes with space to run and they can adapt well to apartment living as long as they are given plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. They also do well in most climates. As with any dog breed, they are sensitive to extreme heat and cold. Because they enjoy being around people, they do not generally like to be left alone for long periods of time. They can also become bored if not given enough attention, exercise, or mental stimulation, which can result in destructive behavior. This dog breed is generally healthy, but they do have the chance of inheriting common health conditions from both of the parent breeds. Some health conditions to be aware of include elbow and hip dysplasia, ear infections, progressive retinal atrophy, hypothyroidism, and epilepsy. Good breeding practices can reduce the likelihood of passing on many of these health issues. Be sure to talk with the breeder about the genetic history of the parents and ask to see any health clearances; this can help allay potential health concerns. A Labradoodle tends to be eager to please and highly intelligent, which makes them highly trainable. They are a good fit for dog owners of any experience level. As with most dog breeds, Labradoodles respond best to training that is consistent and uses positive reinforcement. There are some grooming tasks that are common to every dog breed. When it comes to coat care, it can vary with a Labradoodle. Poodles have a low-shedding coat that is also high maintenance in terms of brushing, trimming, and professional grooming. Labs tend to have a higher shedding coat that needs minimal brushing and grooming. For the most part, a Labradoodle will have a low or non-shedding coat that will need to be brushed a few times a week. But, they can have a higher shedding coat should they take after their Labrador parent. You may also need a few professional grooming sessions throughout the year. Nail trimming once a month is usually enough to keep movement comfortable and prevent longer nails from snagging on things. Proper dental care for your dog will help prevent gum disease and tooth decay. Drop-down ears are more prone to infection because floppy ears are more likely to trap moisture, dirt, and debris. This will make grooming throughout their life a much more enjoyable process for both you and your dog. It can even become a bonding time for you both as well. Labradoodles tend to be high-energy dogs. They require a few daily walks plus some time to run and play in order to stay happy and healthy. They certainly love to play and you may tire out before they do sometimes. They may calm down a little as they get to be a couple of years old, but they tend to be quite energetic as puppies. Going swimming with your dog , taking a hike with them, going on a trip to the dog park, playing a game of fetch, and more are all great supplemental activities to ensure your Labradoodle gets plenty of exercise. You can even train them to compete in dog sports like dock diving, flyball, agility, obedience, and more. A fully-grown Labradoodle will usually stand between 21 to 24 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh between 50 and 65 pounds. Labradoodles generally live 12 — 14 years. However, it did not become popular until when the mix was specifically bred to create hypoallergenic guide dogs. Featured Labradoodle Article. Any Any A link has directed you to this review. Upon arrival the he had a folder prepared with the current vaccination records and a two copies of a release for all of us to sign one for each of us. The puppy was bathed earlier that morning so had a clean coat for the ride home. It was obvious they cared for the puppies as we were asked if we had a way to secure puppy safely for the car ride home yes, we brought a puppy carseat belt. They also gently asked if we were able to give puppy lots of exercise as the litter was allowed several hours of play a day in the field with their parents I assured them we live near a bike trail. More Both of puppy's parents were in a large pen hanging out- they looked well fed and had healthy coats and shiny alert eyes. We've now had the puppy for 8 weeks. She is a JOY. Everyone stranger who meets her and who claims to have known other lab puppies either owned or has friends with a lab say she is the calmest lab puppy they have ever met. Our puppy is exceptionally bright and learns most commands with very little repetition. Our trainer recommended we enroll her in good canine citizen program at 5 months instead of 6 months because she's picking up lessons so quickly. Aside from typical puppy teething issues and the occasional sit strikes during walks when she was home the first 3 weeks, she's mature beyond her years and all of that has virtually ended now that she's 22 weeks old. Each day I cannot believe how lucky we are to have her as our puppy. Greenfield is legit. More Thanks for your vote! The puppies were kept in a barn with cows. Their parents weren't on premises. They claimed they were 12 weeks old. I took them to the vet immediately. They were vomiting up eggshells, hay, and brown material. They were not from the same litter. The vet estimated they were from 3 separate litters; one was an adult. The male puppies had two sets of testicles. The female was ectrodactyly. They were inbred. It cost double to fix each male because they had to clip the descended testicles and surgically remove the crypto set. I did get the money back since the vet determined their defects were congenital which is covered under their limited warranty. Thanks Brandy 17 Thanks for your vote! Report Not sure how to choose? Place was very clean. Puppies are friendly. Gave me shot records and 6 month genetic warranty and some food to bring her home with. Emma is a cockapoo and fits in family nice. Even cats like her. Would highly recommend them. Thanks Constance 9 Thanks for your vote! I contacted a breeder that was listing on Greenfield Puppies site. I got the DNA back and it's a mixed dog. The breeder Linda refuses to accept any responsibility that she sold me a mixed dog. She blames me for buying it without a DNA test first?! More I reached out to Greenfield to notify them that she was fraudulently selling mutts as purebred against ACA also and Greenfield didn't ban them or even suspend them. Greenfield allows them to continue scamming potential buyers. I have since learned that people get puppy mills dogs and split the profits with the mill owners to sell on sites like Greenfield Puppies. Greenfield is a cover for puppy mills! As soon as we got home, he had bloody diarrhea all over the floor. We thought it could just be from the stress of the car ride home, but took him to the vet and he tested positive for giardia. I informed the breeder and was ghosted. It is now October, the giardia is finally gone but now my puppy has c diff which is another horrible thing for him to be dealing with so young. This has been an extremely stressful time treating him and dealing with constant diarrhea, not to mention very expensive with so many vet visits, tests, and medications. Thanks Ryan 90 Thanks for your vote! Beautiful healthy puppies. His dogs have a beautiful comfortable kennel, which is air condition and very clean. He will let you visit the parents and puppies. Had him 2 days and he got sick and passed away. RIP Ozzy. He had Parvo which can be detected thru fecile test which breeder never did. Also found out someone else from this breeder got a sick pup and the vet bill just to get meds to help him were a few hundred dollars, please stay away, most of the dealers are Amish and I found out after they don't have to follow same rules of other breeders due to the religious beliefs. I would give this site 0 stars but it wouldn't let me. Thanks Jerry Thanks for your vote! For the past 6 months the puppy has been incontinent. Finally, he returned our call. Today I left a message that our lawyer is getting involved. When I could not find satisfactory information regarding the breeders I started doing independent searches. I found information that several were cited as puppy mills and in violation of several humane treatment of animal violations. I then looked to report this to greenfield and they have no reporting mechanism in place. It seems they are only interested in money and sticking their head in the sand. Owing to their unconditional love and loyalty, Boxers can do anything to keep their owners and their families safe. A Boxer at home is bound to make you feel safe as it will immediately alert you about potential danger. Moreover, the breed can be intimidating enough to prevent potential trespassers from getting anywhere near Boxers! Boxers Are Energetic Exercising Buddies If you have been experiencing a slump in your exercise routine, bringing a Boxer home will definitely turn things around for you! Boxers possess unmatched energy and require their daily dose of exercise. They love accompanying their owners for walks, jogs, runs, and hikes. If you take your Boxer out, it is bound to exhaust you before it gets tired! You can also take your pet out for games with other members of your family. Being silly and goofy comes naturally to Boxers. They need not try too hard to make everyone around them smile. If you are having a bad day, your Boxer puppy might sense it and do its best to make you chuckle. Wherever a Boxer goes, it makes the environment breezy and entertaining. Boxers Are Highly Intelligent Bred to be hunting dogs used for catching larger animals, Boxers are extremely intelligent. Their reflexes and intuitions are well-developed, making them excellent bull-baiting dogs, police dogs, seeing-eye dogs, and cattle control dogs. If you do not want your Boxer puppy to turn into a stubborn pet, make sure you train it while it is still young and obedient. Boxers are highly excitable and require at least 90 to minutes of exercise every day. The best way to make your pet exercise is by taking it out for walks twice a day. It is also advisable to indulge your Boxer in physical activities, such as games, hikes, runs, etc. Ignoring this need for regular exercise will make your Boxer puppy obese and lead to a host of health complications. Boxers Can Develop Aggression Issues Owing to their lineage, Boxers can get aggressive if they are not trained well as puppies. Being high-energy dogs, Boxers need physical activities as an outlet for their energy, the absence of which can make them aggressive. Boxers also have dominance issues along with aggression. This is why it is not advisable to leave your pet without a leash when you take it outside. If its wild instinct kicks in, your Boxer can cause harm to strangers and other animals on the road. They require a lot of social time with humans and are not independent dogs by any stretch of the imagination. You can expect your Boxer puppy to follow you around and demand your attention throughout the day. If you keep busy for most part of the day, make sure your pet receives the attention it demands. The Need For Physical And Mental Stimulation It is common for Boxers to turn destructive if they do not receive enough exercise and mental stimulation. Even if you provide the right socialization and obedience training to your Boxer puppy, you will need to be aware of its stimulation throughout its life. Apart from causing harm to other people and animals, Boxers can also damage your property. Along with making sure your pet has enough company throughout the day, you can always give it mentally stimulating toys to keep it occupied and calm. Boxers Develop Separation Anxiety Boxers demand a lot of attention from their owners and develop separation anxiety if they do not receive the same. They are not the kind of dogs who have their own private space and let you enjoy your privacy. If no one attends to your pet for a long time, it may become sulky and irritable. It is common for Boxers to develop feelings of worthlessness and dismay when they are not given enough attention by their owners. With a Boxer at home, do not leave it alone for a long time. If you are bringing a Boxer puppy home, keep it indoors as the breed is sensitive to heat and cold. Moreover, keeping your Boxer outside minimizes social interaction, further making your pet irritable and destructive. Age-wise Food And Care For Boxers Boxers were originally bred to accompany hunters in their expeditions, especially when it came to catching animals like deer and boars. The breed has always required a solid diet, making it important for Boxer parents to feed their pets well. It is advisable to feed your Boxer puppy a balanced diet from the beginning. Give your furry friend kibble that is rich in proteins, fats, amino acids, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, and water. Especially during its growth years, do not compromise on the quality and quantity of food you give your Boxer puppy. Ask your dog breeder or vet regarding the specific details of the kind of food that best suits your Boxer. Along with what you feed it, the frequency at which you do so matters a lot at different stages of its life. Here is the feeding routine you should follow for your Boxer throughout its lifespan: Under 8 Weeks Until your Boxer puppy turns two months old, it is better to free-feed it. You need not have a structured diet for your pet at this stage of its life. These are the growing months of your dog and it should eat well to grow into a strong and healthy pet. Between 2 And 12 Months Once your Boxer puppy turns older than two months, you can start adding a structure to its diet. You can now start feeding your pet four meals every day. Make sure you keep track of the food your Boxer eats and prevent it from over-eating. Between 12 And 24 Months As your Boxer gets older than a year, you need to reduce its diet to three meals per day. While you can give it treats and snacks in between, do not allow your pet to eat more than its dietary requirements. Above 24 Months After turning into an adult, your Boxer should not eat more than two meals every day. As your pet will never refuse food, make sure you monitor what it eats closely. Major Health Problems For Boxer Dogs If you are looking for the most adorable Boxer puppy in India, it is important to be aware of the health complications it can encounter. Take all relevant information from the breeder before bringing the pet home. Aortic stenosis in Boxers can also lead to sudden death, making it important to seek immediate medical attention upon encountering symptoms like a heart murmur. Boxer Cardiomyopathy Boxer cardiomyopathy BCM is a heritable health complication that causes irregular heartbeats within a Boxer. Caused due to an electrical conduction disorder, BCM can lead to collapse, weakness, or sudden death. Dogs affected by this issue should not be bred any further. Cancer Just like humans, Boxers are also susceptible to cancer, especially brain tumors, lymphoma, and mast cell tumors. White Boxers or Boxers with white markings bear the risk of getting skin cancer due to excessive sun exposure. If you own such a Boxer, make sure you apply sunscreen to its nose, ears, and coat before taking it out in the sun. Bloat This disorder is also known as Gastric dilatation volvulus, where the Breed of the boxer is at high risk of twisting of the stomach because of filling of an excessive amount of gas. Therefore, we need to keep in mind that the disease should be properly treated so that there is no cut-off for the blood supply to the stomach of the puppy. Hyperadrenocorticism This disease is associated with the malfunctioning of Adrenal glands in the Boxers breed that leads to the production of the steroid hormone. Bone and Joint Problems It is one of the most common problems that are related to the musculoskeletal joints where the boxer feels uncomfortable while showing any movement and suffers from undue pain. Hip dysplasia can lead to pain and lameness in your Boxer. Dogs diagnosed with this condition should not be bred anymore. It can lead to issues like obesity, infertility, lethargy, mental dullness, and more in your Boxer. The best way to tackle hypothyroidism in Boxers is by giving them thyroid replacement pills. So if you're a person and you're reading this, the answer is most likely no. I've heard a lot of people advise against it because they think that working line dogs are more aggressive. But actually, the opposite is true. Most dogs bite out of fear, and most well-bred working line dogs don't fear much, so they're far less likely to become a fear biter. Now that that myth is dispelled, why aren't working line dogs for everyone? Yes, you'll get a pup that's from health tested parents which will drive up the price a bit, and that's definitely worth it. But what really drives the price up is paying for knowledge. It is far more difficult than one might think to consistently produce puppies that have the drive to make good working dogs as adults. It takes study, training, time and money to pull off. A lot of it. You're paying for that acquired knowledge, a higher chance of getting a healthy puppy, and most importantly you're paying for working ability. If you have no plans to work your dog, paying for working ability feels like an unnecessary feature for many. Drive: If you've owned any other line of German Shepherd as a puppy, you remember the biting, the chewing, the destroyed shoe, or bite marks on a table leg etc. Multiply that by .The same prey drive that makes most puppies destructive, hyper, bitey, and gives them the zoomies is amplified. By a lot. They will play rougher and for longer. The only time they're still is when they're asleep. If you don't stay on top of things, you will pay a price, every time. And it will be like that for months. There's always that one person who thinks their dog is over the chewing phase at 12 months old and comes home from work to no longer having a couch. You might have a chance. A person who thinks they're prepared is often a person who is untrainable themselves. A person who is a little apprehensive is more likely to do in depth research, contact knowledgeable trainers who compete in dog sports etc. The local pet store training program isn't going to cut it. The week program they took to become a certified dog trainer isn't enough to prepare them to train your puppy, much less guide you through tough times. You will have to contact trainers who actually compete and have been working with working dogs for years. They are not cheap. In fact, you're better off joining a club yourself and training your own dog with guidance from experienced club mates. You cannot go half in on training a working line dog. You'll end up with a young adult dog that is completely out of control. It'll act like a puppy, chewing, nipping, jumping up, and barking etc. Knocking your guests and kids over while meaning no harm whatsoever. You will have to have control. You will have to have a strong relationship with your dog. You will have to set and enforce boundaries. You will have to learn to harness your puppy's drive to use it to your advantage. On a positive note, the easiest dogs to train, if you know how to train dogs using motivation and reward, are dogs with a lot of drive. They'll break their back for a treat or a short game of tug or fetch. If you harness their drive, they make very responsive, obedient dogs. Work: If you do not put in the work, you will be very unhappy with your working line dog. If you do, chances are you'll be happier with them than you've ever been with any other dog. So one must be honest with themselves: do you have the time to devote? You probably do, because it only takes minutes a day of training. But are you going to invest the effort in keeping an eye on the puppy, even going as far as using a leash indoors? Raising a working line German Shepherd puppy is much more labor intensive than raising just about any other dog on Earth, sans maybe a Malinois pup. If you are still here, and you still think it's worth it, and you already know of trainers in your area who can help, and preferably have found a club to join. A working line German Shepherd pup might be for you. Just make sure you get a puppy from a reputable breeder who actively works or titles their dogs, who has hip and elbow scores on their dogs, has guarantees etc. Don't cheap out and buy a puppy from a guy who just happened to buy 2 dogs with working lines somewhere back in the pedigree. You run the risk of getting a puppy with higher than usual drive who doesn't have a stable temperament, and you definitely do not want that! It's better to buy once and cry once, than to save a few hundred dollars now and spend thousands on training to "fix" temperament issues, or get surgery to correct severe hip dysplasia. Do you think you could handle the responsibility of owning a working line dog? If so, let us know and leave a like and comment. Contact Us for Details on Our Puppies! The joy of owning a working line bred German Shepherd is immeasurable — but a companion and workmate that gives itself over to you so completely requires a significant reciprocal commitment. Do you have a fenced yard? Are you able to devote at least 30 minutes per day to exercising your dog? Will your puppy be raised inside of your home as a part of your family? Do you have small children, infants or other animals in your home currently and if not do you plan to in the future? Do you plan to crate train your puppy in addition to housebreaking? Are you prepared to feed a high quality food to your dog such as a grain-free or holistic food as a regular diet throughout its lifetime? Do you know the difference between the temperaments and character of a Working Line German Shepherd Dog over a show line or an American bred German Shepherd? Have you already consulted with a private trainer or know of obedience classes that are offered in your area that may be more specific to working dogs over an average Pet Store style all breed pet training class? Do you plan to spay or neuter your puppy when he or she is old enough? Are you financially prepared to provide care for your dog and seek veterinary care in the event of an emergency that may require hospitalization of your dog? If you are planning on breeding, do you have at least 5 years minimum experience as a Breeder? Are you educated in canine reproduction and development, have the basic knowledge and understanding of genetics as well as proper care for newborn pups, neonatal intensive care and experience in identifying reproductive complications or emergencies should they arise? Upcoming Litters What customers say about our puppies "Dedicated to a fault is only one way I would describe her, there are so many positives.Dedication, patience, and caring are truly not strong enough words. Audrey and I discussed her breeding line and I was most impressed! She took the time to explain her dog's lines, what some of them had gone on to do : police, detection, protections, pets - it was impressive. I was beyond happy that Audrey not only had the experience, but also had the educational degrees to back up what she was saying. I did not meet Audrey when this litter was born but instead there were a few male puppies available black and sable but none had been actually chosen yet. Audrey put me down for a sable male per my request. I knew I would not see whatever puppy was to be mine except through videos, pictures, etc….She would send videos, pictures, and just general updates. Audrey was always available and responded quickly to any correspondence. I sometimes wondered when she slept with all these clients and pups. Dedicated to a fault is only one way I would describe her, there are so many positives. One day Audrey sent a particular video and I fell in love. It is the fairest way to allow clients to choose. Audrey and I continued to correspond sometimes daily and she was amazing. A day or so later, Audrey let me know that this little guy was mine. I believe that Audrey does everything within her power to ensure that clients do receive the puppy they want if the fit is correct. Now, we had to transport this little man. Audrey and I communicated a lot! I had never had a puppy brought to my door physically unseen. This was completely new to me yet, I know dogs are flown all over the world. Together, Audrey and I navigated this last leg of the journey and I could not have asked for more from her. Dedication, patience, and caring are truly not strong enough words to use when describing how Audrey was during this process. Audrey ended up keeping my pup who was named Malachi for an extra week. While he was there, she taught him his name and sent pictures and videos often. They certainly made my day! Since Malachi has arrived home, he is nothing short of amazing! He is exactly as Audrey described him and the litter Daisy x Maverick focused, well behaved, eager to learn, and dark stunning sable! Exactly what a great breeder should do. My experience with North Mountain Kennels was wonderful. If you are looking for a well bred high quality working German Shepherd l highly recommend North Mountain Kennels. Audrey is in a class all of her own and I am grateful that the stars aligned so that I was able to be blessed with one of her pups. He is a true gift and I look forward to all the days ahead with him. Thank you Audrey! Currently Available Puppies. We are number 1 out of 50 Top rated breeders in America!!! Rated by happydoggo. Tomato leaves stem or unripe fruit Alcohol, beer, wine or liquor Grapes or raisins Golden Retriever Crossed with Labrador Exercise Requirements The Lab Golden Retriever Mix has an active temperament so they might get destructive if they get bored. It is recommended to exercise them at least 2 hours daily. Getting them to do physical activities every day will help keep him happy and healthy. Here are some outdoor activities that you can try with your Golden Retriever Lab Mix: Hiking: It is a great way to turn your daily walk more challenging and exciting for your dog. Swimming: Utilize your private pool and do a swimming exercise with your dog companion. Swimming does not only serve as an exercise activity to yourself and to your companion dog, but it is also a great bonding experience. It also provides relief from the heat during the summer months. Make sure you supervise your dog all the time while doing this activity. Dock Diving: This is a fun sports activity to enjoy with your dog. All you have to do is throw a floating toy and encourage your dog to jump and swim out to retrieve it. If you and your Golden Retriever Lab Mix want to upgrade the challenge, you can try joining a Dock Diving Club and compete with other dogs. Play Fetch: This is a classic outdoor game that is great to do in summer. Challenge your dog by putting a twist to the activity, you can either use a Frisbee or a tennis racquet to make the object travel farther for your Golden Labrador to retrieve and return back to you. However, you should not be working them too much because when it comes to recovering objects, both parent breeds of Golden Retriever Lab Mix can be overly enthusiastic. However, even though they are intelligent dogs and has a friendly nature, you still need to put time and effort to train them better. Both parent breeds were bred to carry things. The best way to teach your Goldador not to bark is to socialize them frequently with strangers. Use Positive Reinforcement The Labrador crossed with Golden Retriever is a sensitive type of dog, so training them using positive reinforcement will be very helpful. Make sure to avoid negative punishment-based training since this hybrid dog may end up fearing you rather than respecting you as their leader. Make it a regular routine to reward your puppy whenever they do something right. Training your Goldador consistently in a positive method will give you pet companions that are obedient and good-natured. Do Mental Exercise The Golden Retriever mixed with Lab is an intelligent dog, and they need stimulating mental activities to avoid developing any aggressive behaviors, such as nuisance barking and chewing. Without proper mental exercise, Goldador puppies will grow into a passive, timid and uninspired dog. Labrador Golden Retriever Mix and Families Despite its large size, the Labrador mixed with Golden Retriever is a great family dog because of its easy-going personality. It is extremely friendly and affectionate. The Goldador is the type of dog that goes well in a loving and active family — one that considers him as a family member. The Golden Labradors cherish the company with children. They are naturally gentle, but they can play tirelessly as long as your kids can keep up. However, due to their sheer size, supervision is still needed around toddlers and infants. The Goldadors makes an excellent therapy and companion dog. Because of their affectionate nature, they generally do well when given lots of attention and affection. These hybrid dogs love to be with people, and hence it is tough for them to cope with solitude. So give love lots of love and affection to your Goldador Lab Retriever Mix and expect that it will shower you back with love. The double coat has a soft undercoat below a rough top coat that is water resistant. Either way, their coat will be fairly high maintenance. Shedding and Grooming Your new friend is going to shed, sometimes a lot. Both parent breeds heavily shed their coats with the change of seasons twice a year. For the rest of the year, expect a moderate level of shedding. Increased brushing during transitional times can help catch the loose hairs and stop them from spreading everywhere. Golden Retriever Labrador mixes will need weekly brushing, likely more during shedding season. Their nails should be trimmed regularly as well. Are They Hypoallergenic? The Goldador dog will not be hypoallergenic. They are high shedders, spreading dander from skin and saliva liberally around your home! With designer breeds like the Golden Retriever Lab, you can only make an educated guess about their temperament based on the general demeanor of their parents as well as the temperament of the parent breeds as a whole. If they are left alone a lot, they may become very destructive to your home. They will chew out of boredom or anxiety. As many Lab lovers know, these dogs do not know a stranger. Generally, the Goldador will get on well with children and other pets. Socialization Socialization from an early age is important for any breed, including the Golden Retriever Lab. Even though it hails from overly friendly and sociable breeds, there are still no guarantees to the temperament of your dog. Since training and socialization are both best started early on, puppy training classes can be a great way to both train and socialize your puppy at the same time. Training Tips The Goldador has an easygoing and eager to please temperament that helps make them highly trainable. Owners should start training early, from the time their puppy comes home. The parent breeds have a long history as service dogs, bomb detection dogs, hunting dogs, and now therapy dogs. Obedience classes will help create a well-mannered dog but also strengthens the bond between the dog and owner. Since Goldadors grow to be large dogs, obedience is also important to prevent them from jumping up at your guests! Energy Levels Golden Retriever Labrador puppies will grow into high-energy adults with a love for playing and a passion for retrieving! A Labrador Golden Retriever Mix makes a great companion for jogging, hiking, or cycling. This is a breed that also loves to swim. Canine sports, like agility, obedience trials, and tracking, are also a great way to keep your dog physically active, mentally stimulated, and out of trouble. As a very social breed, they do best as indoor dogs, but with a large, fenced in yard to run around. In addition to self-exercise, they need walks or other forms of daily activity with their owners. Exercise is especially important for the health of your Goldador since both Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers have a tendency to develop elbow and hip dysplasia. Weight management is one way of combating these joint problems. Health and Care All pedigree dog breeds are inbred to some extent. The measure of this is called the coefficient of inbreeding COI. The higher the COI, the greater the risks of health issues arising specifically from inbreeding. In a crossbreed such as the Goldador, the COI is usually much lower than it is in a purebred dog, and this is a good thing. To begin to look at the health and care of a Goldador we first need to consider the inherited health risks from both parent breeds Labrador and Golden Retriever. Labrador Health Labrador Retrievers are prone to a few hereditary health conditions and joint problems, as well as some health issues common to most dogs. To help minimize the likelihood of hereditary health issues in your new Goldador pup, check that your breeder has followed the recommended testing for the Labrador Retriever breed: Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis HNKP. Labrador Retriever Mix, or a Goldador Dog. The Goldador dog is a playful and good-natured, large dog. When you cross a purebred Labrador Retriever with a purebred Golden Retriever , even though both parents are recognized purebred dog breeds, the result — the Goldador — is a hybrid dog; recently known as a designer dog. Designer breeds come in a variety of coat colors and types, depending on the genes and appearance of the parent breeds. This cross-breed dog has parents with hunting and retrieving skills. They are often used as therapy dogs, guide dogs, search and rescue dogs, and other types of service dogs, even bomb detection: but not as a guard dog or watchdog! This hybrid dog breed has the classic appearance of the Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever dogs; inheriting their friendly, smiley face and their big brown eyes. The Labrador Golden Retriever mix is soft, loving, and intelligent. This is a large, bouncy, and easy-going dog that loves to be active. It will want to be wherever you are; in your bed, on your sofa or in the bathroom with you! A Goldador puppy is simply adorable. But remember, nowhere is private with a Goldador around! Fact: When two different dog breeds are intentionally mixed it called a designer dog; any hybrid dog will inherit its characteristics and health problems from both parent breeds but the result will not be seen until the puppy is born and observed as it grows up. A Goldador is friendly and will always want to be close to you. In , Lord Tweedmouth, a British Aristocrat, wanted a loyal and hard-working gundog to retrieve waterfowl while hunting on his estate in Scotland. So he crossed a wavy-coated yellow retriever sire with a Tweed Water Spaniel dam and produced 3 Golden-colored Retriever puppies. Fact: the Tweed Water Spaniel is now an extinct dog breed. Lord Tweedmouth mixed this new breed Retriever with an Irish Setter dog to breed the recognized Golden Retriever dog breed. In , the Golden Retriever dog breed was registered by the UK Kennel Club, and they quickly became popular as family pets and show dogs. Parent 2: A brief history of the Labrador Retriever parent — a purebred dog The Labrador Retriever is the best-loved and most popular dog breed in the world! It has a solid- color double coat in one of 3 colors; pure black, chocolate brown, or yellow. Whatever the coat color this is just a good looking dog breed for any level of dog owner or family member. The Labrador Retriever dog is from Newfoundland, Canada, and was used by fishermen to retrieve fish from nets and catch those that escaped back into the sea. They are good swimmers and have a gentle mouth grip that will not further destroy any prey they are ordered to retrieve. The Newfoundland and Labrador Province, in Canada, provided this hunting and retrieving dog with its name — the Labrador Retriever or Lab to its friends! The Newfoundland Labrador Retriever dog breed came to Great Britain around , to be used as gun dogs for retrieving waterfowl from land and water, during the shooting season, in Scotland and England. Ongoing breeding is believed to have continued the pure Newfoundland lab bloodline in our Labrador Retriever breed today. Meet the offspring: The hybrid offspring of these two purebred dogs is the Golden Retriever Lab mix — the Goldador puppy. This mixed breed puppy will be happy, affectionate, and will easily become a family member for sure. Fact: Designer dogs are increasing in popularity and so is the trend to give them a cute combo name that reflects a bit of both parent names. The Goldador puppy will inherit characteristics from both parents. What are the main characteristics of a Golden Retriever Lab Mix? Like any other crossbreed, a Labrador Golden Retriever Labrador mix can inherit the characteristics of either parent or both. Crossbreed dogs, like The Goldador, are no more likely to inherit health issues than purebred dogs; in fact, it is believed they may actually be stronger. Any mixed puppy can inherit all, some, or none of the health issues its parent breeds have. It can be heavily weighted towards the characteristics of one parent more than the other. The characteristics of The Goldador are a combination of nature and nurture: genetics of the parents, the environment, and the quality, type and amount of training and socialization. The Goldador — possible coat colors Both Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever parents have a thick, double coat: a water-resistant topcoat and a warm undercoat. Therefore the Goldador will inherit the same double coat but is likely to be short-haired like the Labrador. With its impressive and popular parent breed mix it will be loyal with a loving temperament and good around children and other dogs. It will be caring and become and active companion, that just wants to be by your side all the time. Reputation: This large Golden Labrador mix breed dog comes from two of the best-loved and most popular dog breeds. This is why they can make such good service and guide dogs, therapy dogs or even search and rescue dogs. They will still need to be trained and socialized early to teach them how to use that energy positively and learn how to behave in public. They are people-friendly and need exercise. They would not make a good guard dog, or watchdogs as they are approachable with strangers and make friends easily. So watch your slippers! Trainability: The trainability of this intelligent Golden Labrador mixed breed should be easy. The Goldador needs to be trained and socialized early as it will inherit a herding instinct and be highly active. They may attempt to take over and herd small children and smaller pets so they need to be controlled. Positive reinforcement and small treats will work well but not harsh discipline, or any form of negative punishment or physical restraint. Power and intelligence: This mixed breed dog is very intelligent, strong, and active with a herding and working drive. It will enjoy and need working challenges incorporating mental and physical stimulation, but it will be curious and want to investigate the other side of the fence. Socialization: Early socialization and discipline are strongly recommended for any crossbred dog especially those with herding and service dog parents. The Labrador Golden Retriever Mix wants to be active and occupied; if bored it may become destructive and bark. When trained and socialized this mixed breed dog will be approachable and friendly around all types of people, children, and other animals. Purpose: Any herding or working dog will want to be useful and please its owner. It will need to be trained and socialized early as it will help with control its excitement in public and develop obedience norms. It will form an early bond and lasting companionship with its owner. Either parent will still give it an athletic, well-balanced build and a strong working ethic.

As a medium-large dog breed, goldendoodles generally range from 15 to 20 inches in height and 30 to 50 pounds in weight. They benefit from at least 30 minutes of exercise a day, which makes them suitable for more active households. Gallery Pine Winds Pine Winds Labradoodles, located 25 miles north of Kansas City, Missouri, began with one dog and the desire to volunteer as an animal partner therapy team. I retired from teaching after 34 years and with all three children grown I decided to pursue this adventure by purchasing my first labradoodle. Marley joined our home as a puppy, became a Canine Good Citizen, and continued on to pass her evaluation enabling her to be registered as a therapy dog with Pet Partners. Occasionally she was bred and produced puppies with exceptional temperaments, several becoming therapy dogs as well. Most importantly the puppies have become excellent fur members of families. Poppy, Mias offspring, is now my registered therapy dog. My dogs are working dogs whether they are visiting, enrolled in agility classes or taking refresher obedience training. Mia, Poppy and Rosie are proven to represent the best of temperaments and mind set a labradoodle should possess. I have two breeding dogs so I am able to spend quality time working with each puppy.
